The mob pelted stones at the officials, police personnel, and journalists alike during Haldwani violence while bullets were also fired.

Meanwhile, the Haldwani Municipal Corporation on Monday issued a recovery notice of Rs 2.44 crore against Abdul Malik, a key accused in the violence at Haldwani, asking him to deposit the money to cover damage caused to government property during the clash.

'DNN News' journalist Pankaj Agarwal told OpIndia that the attackers selectively singled out Hindus among journalists, Municipal Corporation officials and police personnel.

OpIndia spoke with Pankaj Saxena, an injured journalist from 'HNN News' who came to the hospital for treatment.

Uttarakhand Police released a list of the names of 25 arrested accused rioters namely Junaid, Mohammad Nizam, Mehboob alias Maku, Shahzad alias Kanakada etc.

 Deepanshu saw 100-150 female officials running wearing helmets to save their lives. He added that many of them suffered injuries. Some of them were taken to the hospital. Deepanshu stated that he offered water to the injured and took them to the hospital.

Officer Joshi, deployed in Haldwani, stated that all roads were blocked because the rioters burned down all vehicles parked near the roads.

According to reports, rioters extracted petrol from motorcycles parked on the roads and used it to make petrol bombs for the Haldwani attack

The journalist further added that the colony where the demolition exercise was undertaken is illegal. He said that action taken by the authorities against the illegally constructed madarsa-mosque on government land was in compliance with the Uttarakhand High Court order.
