It was reported in January 2023 that Santiago Martin’s son-in-law Aadhav Arjuna was roped in by the DMK as the chief election strategist of the party in the run-up to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Previously, the Mamata Banerjee-led-Trinamool Congress had also announced to contest elections separately in West Bengal and ruled out any possible scope of alliance with the grand-old-party.
While discussing Mamata Banerjee’s recent announcement snapping ties with the I.N.D.I. bloc and attacking Congress, Ajit Anjum asked what went wrong between TMC and Congress. He also claimed that Mamata Banerjee's scathing attack on the Congress party seemed more like a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader.
Mamata Banerjee said, "I had promised to give you 2 seats (in Bengal). I had assured to make you win in those constituencies.. But you said that 2 seats are not enough. Do you want us to give you all 42 seats in Bengal?"
