A 14-member team led by DCP Dr. Pravin Mundhe raided Kalamboli, Panvel, Kopar Khairane, Kalyan, Mumbra (Navi Mumbai), and Shivdi Darukhana, Mankhurd, and Chembur (Mumbai) and arrested 16 illegal Bangladeshi immigrants. All these accused persons have been booked by the police.
"What actions is the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) taking to ensure the protection of Indian citizens abroad? Why was the Indian government not consulted about the use of military aircraft for deportation? What steps are being taken to ensure the safety and dignity of those being deported?" the Congress MP said.
The report published by JNU pointed out that illegal immigrants from both Bangladesh and Myanmar enter India through porous borders in West Bengal, Assam, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura.

The Bangladeshi nationals were identified as Mohammad Bellal, Mohammad Yeasin), Emon Hossen, Mohammad Ghiyas Uddin, Mohammad Rubel Hossain, Nasruddin, and Tanvir Hasan.
Following the attack by illegal Bangladeshis, Mayor Sushma Kharkwal rushed to the spot. Speaking to media, she said, "These Bangladeshi squatters have attacked municipal staff and engaged in criminal activities. How are they getting electricity connections? This negligence must be addressed immediately.”
