South Bengal still stranded without food and shelter as West Bengal government messes up relief and rescue after Cyclone Amphan.

Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is angry. There are dozens of trains full of migrant workers heading from Maharashtra towards West Bengal.

Asking for the resignation, Pandey said anybody who fails to perform should resign from his post. "The chairman of KMC did not call any meeting of the MLAs of the city. Firhad Hakim should have consulted his predecessor Sovan Chatterjee," he alleged.

"A person who is suffering can only understand what we are going through. There has been no help from the administration," a local sighed.

Even after 5 days since the cyclone Amphan made a landfall with West Bengal, basic services such as water, sanitation and power are yet to restore in several areas, including neighbourhoods in Kolkata

PM Modi unequivocally announced that the central government will provide an "advance assistance" of Rs 1000 crore to the cyclone-hit West Bengal

Mamata Banerjee had justified the opposition to the central govt assistance in 2009 by claiming that the money would be transferred to CPM cadres.
