Ram Navami violence

Ram Navami celebrations in the country have come under attack in the past couple of days. Several incidents of stone and brick pelting by Islamists on Ram Navami processions and devotees have surfaced in multiple states.

During the meeting, Police Station Incharge Ranjay Kumar said that DJ should not be played at any cost by Hindus in the Ram Navami procession. If DJ is played, not only the DJ will be confiscated, but action will also be taken against the members of the committee. He said that the procession of the village will be taken through the same route which it used to take earlier.

The Jharkhand police conducted the inspection using drone cameras whose footage showed stones gathered on the terraces of several residential properties.

NSBA claimed that that Sudhir Chaudhary, in his show, had targeted a particular community by generalising the acts of violence carried out by a few miscreants

The SC while rejecting the Mamata-govt's appeal said it is not inclined to entertain the special leave petition (SLP) "as there is no challenge to the notification of the Central government."

An NIA official reportedly confirmed to a media house that case diaries are yet to be handed over to the agency despite SC's refusal to stay the HC order to transfer the probe to NIA.

On 27th April 2023, the Calcutta High Court had ordered an NIA probe in the Ram Navamui violence in West Bengal.

On 28th April 2023, the Supreme Court of India dismissed a plea seeking pan-India guidelines to control violence during Ram Navami processions.

Jitendra Awhad said, "I mean Ram Navami and what is that festival of Maruti? Haan... Hanuman Jayanti. Are these two festivals made for riots only?"
