On Sunday (10th March), TMC leader Sheikh Shahjahan was taken from the CBI office at Nizam Palace in Kolkata and produced before the Sub-Divisional Court in Basirhat.

Following the Calcutta HC's directive, the CID handed over custody of Sheikh Shahjahan to the CBI on Wednesday.

Speaking at Barasat, PM Modi stated that the women of Bengal have been a beacon of hope and progress for the entire country. "The 'Shakti Swaroopa' women of the state have been leading the country in various fields. But the TMC rule has caused torture, shame, and harassment for women in the state", PM stated.

The West Bengal police which is handling the case of TMC leader Sheikh Shahjahan has refused to hand over his custody to the central probe agency

On Tuesday, March 5, the Calcutta High Court dismissed the SIT formed to probe the arrest of TMC strongman Sheikh Shahjahan and handed over the probe to the CBI.

The fact-finding team was initially stopped by state administration on 25th February while they were going to Sandeshkhali.
