Another case of violence over linguistic politics came to light from Virar, Palghar district, Maharashtra. A migrant auto-rickshaw driver was brutally beaten in full public display by the supporters of Uddhav Shiv Sena (UBT) and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) after a prior confrontation video over the use of the Marathi language had gone viral on social media.
Speaking to the media, Raut said, "No. We have done our work. We have said what we had to say and made our decision. This file is closed for us now," Raut said.
While Priyanka Chaturvedi turned a mourning moment of the nation into a political battlefield, it soon became clear that the Shiv Sena UBT leader had conveniently forgotten the remarks of her party leader about Manmohan Singh.
Some of the leaders also feel that Shiv Sena (UBT) made a wrong decision by allegedly compromising its Hindutva philosophy to accommodate the Congress and the Sharad Pawar-led NCP. According to one of the party leaders, the Congress and the NCP are more 'secular' and 'socialist' in approach.
The accused person shot the video while inside the polling booth and exposed that he voted for Shiv Sena (UBT) candidate Dilip Sopal. As per OpIndia sources, the voter who shot the video and posted it on social media has been identified as Rutwik Pawar.
