West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee vows to stage a dharna if even one eligible voter’s name is removed during the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision. She calls on women to stand strong with kitchen tools and accuses the BJP of political manipulation.
The Court explained that if the Election Commission finds that a large number of voters in a state are dead, it cannot pick and choose constituencies in the state to conduct the SIR.
The Court that the Aadhaar Card is created to ensure that the benefits of social welfare schemes reach everyone and does not automatically confer voting rights.
The matter came to light during SIR. Local Hindu organisations, including Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal have given an ultimatum to the administration to vacate the government land from the infiltrators by 27th November 2025. The Hindu rights group have said that if the administration fails to act against the illegal Rohingya and Bangladeshi aliens, they will stage a massive protest.
Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath has ordered the establishment of temporary detention centres in every district to house and deport illegal immigrants. The move aligns with the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, which Home Minister Amit Shah termed a "purification" exercise to remove infiltrators.
