The accused Muslim youth was pressuring the victim to convert to Islam and perform Nikah with him. Reports say that Wasif was threatening the victim to make her obscene video viral on social media. On 29th July, Wasif threatened to throw acid on the Hindu’s girl face if she refused to convert to Islam and do Nikah with him.

The girl had gone missing from her village on 22nd July. While the family of the girl was looking for her, they were informed by one of the villagers that she had committed suicide on 25th July and that she was last seen with the accused Galib Sheikh in Mumbai.

In a video accessed by OpIndia, the victim's younger sister stated that her sister used to talk with a boy who introduced himself as Janu Mishra but was a Muslim.
