After the matter came to light, local Hindus staged a protest on Monday (26th February) morning. The angry demonstrators also blocked the rail lines, demanding an immediate arrest of the culprits.
On 7th December, members of the Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council staged a demonstration at Alfadanga Chowrastra, demanding rapid action against those involved in idol vandalism.
According to Kalbela News, the residence of a deceased Hindu man named Satyendranath Saha was encroached and a 4-storeyed building was constructed in its place.
