"TMC people beat me up. I was stripped and thrashed. I don't trust Mamata Banerjee and the police. I am associated with the BJP," the assault victim was quoted as saying by ANI.
Meanwhile, Hindu activist and former Oxford University Student Union President, Rashmi Samant has also received a notice from the West Bengal Police for talking about the Taliban-style flogging of a woman.
SP Jobi Thomas remarked, "If we kept him in Chopra, the thana could have been attacked. So for safety purposes, we brought him (Tajmul Haque) to Islampur."
