Salman Khurshid says Congress has blood on its hands, stands by his statement

Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Salman Khurshid said during an event at the Aligarh Muslim University yesterday that the Congress has the blood on its hands. Asked by a student at the event what are his views on the anti-Muslim riots that had happened during the Congress regime and demolition of Babri Masjid and does he accept that Congress has blood of Muslims on its hands, Khurshid said that he does admit that Congress has blood on its hands and the people should learn from their mistakes.

When confronted by journalists over his statement the Congress leader stated that he stands by his statement and he said it as a human being.

Khurshid’s statement comes in the wake of several senior Congress leaders distancing themselves from the impeachment motion against CJI Deepak Mishra that the party has brought forward. Khurshid had earlier stated that impeachment is too serious a matter and should not be dealt with frivolously. He has also stated that he was not privy to any discussions on the matter and hence cannot comment on the charges.

As of yesterday he again stated that though he was not in the loop regarding the impeachment motion, the Vice President’s decision to reject it should be challenged. Several Congress leaders reportedly did not sign the motion.
