Yasin Malik arrested, protests erupt in Srinagar

Yasin Malik, separatist leader of JKLF (Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front) has been arrested after he started marching towards Lal Chowk of Srinagar after a press conference. Following his arrest, media reports showed visuals of clashes between protestors and police.

The separatist leader claimed that the Indian government wanted to wipe out Kashmiri people and had decided to break the “will and resolve of the freedom seeking people of Kashmir” as per reports. Malik was concerned that BJP could go to any extent to ensure that Kashmir would be a focal point during 2019 elections.

Yasin Malik also took a dig at PDP for being in alliance with BJP, which according to him is supporting rapists openly. Separatists have called for a shutdown in the valley on Thursday and Friday in response to the death of civilians in Kulgam district. An army man and three civilians had died when people and army clashed during an encounter.
