Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Pannun threatens attack on PM Modi and CM Yogi during Maha Kumbh 2025

Pannun claimed that his terrorist organisation, Sikhs For Justice, will "give an answer" (read as take revenge) for the encounter of Khalistani terrorists during the Kumbh Mela 2025.

On 24th December, a threatening video by Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun went viral on social media, in which he was seen threatening Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath. He claimed that Sikhs For Justice, his terrorist organisation, would take “revenge” for the encounter of three Khalistani terrorists during the Kumbh Mela 2025 scheduled to take place in Prayagraj. Pilibhit Police have taken cognisance of the threat and stated that legal proceedings against Pannun are underway.

In his threat video, Pannun said in Punjabi, “This Hindutva terrorist state has killed three Sikh youth in a fake encounter.” He further assured financial support of Rs 5 lakh to the families of the terrorists killed in the encounter.

Pannun referred to CM Yogi as “Gangu ki aulaad.” Gangu is a fictional character developed over time by Khalistani extremists, claiming he was responsible for leaking information about the whereabouts of Mata Gujri and the Sahibzade of Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, which led to their murders.

He further referred to CM Bhagwant Mann as “Beant butcher di aulaad,” referring to former Chief Minister of Punjab, Beant Singh, who played a key role in curbing Khalistani terrorism and insurgency in the state. Beant Singh was assassinated on 31st August 1995 by Khalistani terrorists.

Pannun claimed that his terrorist organisation, Sikhs For Justice, will “give an answer” (read as take revenge) for the encounter of Khalistani terrorists during the Kumbh Mela 2025. He threatened to launch attacks on the Maha Kumbh on 14th January 2025, 29th January 2025, and 3rd February 2025, which are auspicious dates of Shahi Snan. He asserted that on those days, PM Modi and CM Yogi would be in Prayagraj, and SFJ would take revenge for the encounter by “shaking the foundation” of “Hindutva terrorism” and making this Maha Kumbh the last Maha Kumbh for the two leaders.

Reacting to the threat video, Pilibhit Police issued a statement, saying that a case was being registered against Pannun at the Cyber Police Station, Pilibhit district. The statement read: “It is to inform that on 24.12.2024, a video is being shared through various handles on the social media platform (X), wherein a person is seen using objectionable language against Hinduism and making derogatory remarks against prominent political figures. The individual is also issuing threats to spread terror during the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025, scheduled to be held on 14.01.2025, 29.01.2025, and 03.02.2025 in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. Taking immediate cognisance of the matter, a case has been registered under relevant sections at the Cyber Police Station, Pilibhit district. Further legal action is underway.”

Pilibhit encounter

On 23rd December, Punjab Police and UP Police neutralised three Khalistani terrorists in a joint operation in the district of Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh. The terrorists killed in the encounter have been identified as Gurwinder Singh, Virendra Singh, and Jasanpreet Singh and were linked to the Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF). They were wanted in a grenade attack on a police post in the district of Gurdaspur, Punjab.
