Chinese sperm bank announces that all donors need to be Communists

A sperm donation bank in China’s capital Beijing has made news after setting the condition that interested sperm donors need to be Communists. The state run third hospital of the Peking University set this criteria while mobilising people for a six week sperm donation drive.

As per reports, the hostel in a post on WeChat said that it was a “must” for donors to “love the socialist motherland, support the Communist Party’s leadership, be loyal to the party’s cause and be a decent law abiding citizen, free of political problems”. Reports claimed that this message was deleted from the social media website on Friday.

The drive aimed at men aged 20 to 45 years also needed the donors be be healthy and not show any obvious signs of hair loss, colourblindness and weight loss. In exchange for their services, the sperm donors were promised a sum of Rs 2000 after the vetting process and Rs 56000 after the sperm was finally donated.

The donors in total need to make 10 donations in six months to ensure adequate supply. As per reports, there are in total 4 crore infertile men and women in China, with a demand for sperms increasing in China ever since the “One Child Policy” was relaxed by the Chinese government. This rendered most couples eligible to bear two children.

China supposedly is facing a big shortage when it comes to quality sperm donations, which in 2016 led to a Shanghai sperm bank advertise an allowance to buy iPhone 6S, in exchange of a sperm donation.

Even though the current episode gives out a feeling that China is trying to inculcate “desirable political qualities” since the genesis of a human life. As per doctors, there was no way to test the required communist credentials. The doctor also claimed that no additional tests would be conducted for determining suitable political requirements.
