AIIMS to discharge Lalu Prasad Yadav: RJD supremo sees political motivation behind the decision

Lalu Prasad Yadav, convicted in the Fodder Scam, has expressed his displeasure at AIIMS’s decision to discharge him and shift him back to Ranchi Hospital.

In his letter to the head of AIIMS, Lalu Prasad stated that Ranchi Hospital is not equipped to treat his ailments efficiently and should any adverse consequences arise due to his shifting to Ranchi Hospital, then the authorities at AIIMS will be responsible for the harm caused to his life. He also insinuated that the decision was driven by political motivations and that doctors are hailed as Gods on Earth, therefore, they should not work under political compulsions.

RJD leader and son of Lalu Prasad Yadav, Tejashwi Yadav, also voiced his concerns regarding AIIMS’ decision to shift him to Ranchi Hospital. He said that the decision was taken in haste.

Earlier, Congress President Rahul Gandhi visited the tainted RJD supremo at AIIMS. It is still unclear how Rahul Gandhi reconciles his supposed strong stance against corruption while maintaining ties with a politician who has been convicted of scam in several cases.

Lalu Prasad Yadav’s family has become increasingly paranoid ever since his conviction in the fodder scam case. Tejashwi Yadav had earlier claimed that Bihar Chief Minister was trying to poison his food. Thus, Lalu’s insinuation that political forces are behind the AIIMS decision to discharge him is consistent with conduct and that of his family in recent times.
