Days after a mob took 8 judicial officers hostage in Muslim-dominated Malda, a Kolkata-based pro-China, anti-Hindu ‘journalist’ named Shahin Mondal was seen inciting violence in the region.
In a Facebook post on Friday (3rd April), Shahin posted, “Unite on the path of Mothabari…Unite, be prepared… be prepared for any situation…”
“Request your relatives, acquaintances, and friends who are working in the police that if the situation arises, they should not hesitate to disobey orders,” he continued with the provocation.
While hoping for anarchy on the streets, the so-called ‘journalist’ concluded, “Because the deprived public will have the final word. Their aggression is completely legitimate. Yes, I am provoking people. Let this incitement spread. Long live solidarity, struggle, and conflict!”
In the comment section, Shahin endorsed Muslim-led mob violence and stated, “When the minorities of this state, specifically the Muslims, protest collectively, why is it that instead of supporting them, people always sit down to judge how ‘reprehensible’ it is by looking for ‘incitement’ behind it? Muslims are protesting the injustice happening to them.”
A quick perusal of his Facebook profile reveals that Shahin is a pro-China propagandist. He has downplayed Chinese atrocities on Tibetans and opposed the indigenous demand for the independence of Tibet.
He repeatedly glorifies Chinese state institutions like the People's Liberation Army and the Chinese Police, while his commentry on India is sharply one sided, provocative and derogatory on many occasions without any hard evidence.

Shahin has repeatedly glorified Chinese Communist Party (CCP)- controlled institutions such as the police and the People’s Liberation Army (PLA). At the same time, he has been critical of India, its policies and the government.
The ‘journalist’ had earlier downplayed a Hinduphobic incident where a Muslim waiter served beef instead of mutton to a Hindu Brahmin actor named Sayak Chakraborty at Oly Pub, an upscale restaurant in Kolkata’s Park Street area.
“The waiter of Oly-Pub, who delivers food to people’s tables to feed himself and his family, was arrested due to a minor serving mistake. The real problem is the incident of his arrest. Everything else that happened is a very small and common matter, which should not even be a subject of discussion,” Shahin had posted in January this year.
He went on to blame the victim and gave it a ‘class spin’ to shield the Muslim waiter.
