Students, who were attending a seminar in Kerala’s Cochin University College of Engineering, have accused the college administration of serving them beef cutlets while claiming that it was vegetarian in a bid to hurt their religious sentiments. They have written to district magistrate of Alappuzha complaining against the college principal.

As per reports, students in their letter state that this incident took place following suspension of a student after he held Saraswati Puja inside the campus without permission. The letter further states that the principal’s ego was hurt because of conducting the Saraswati Puja and hence he made a deliberate attempt to malign the dignity and hurt religious sentiments.
The incident reportedly took place on Thursday on sidelines of a seminar being held in the college. A student claims that when asked whether the snacks they were served vegetarian, they were told yes. However, when some Malayali students ate it, they pointed out that these were beef cutlets, by when some vegetarian students as well as those who eat non vegetarian but do not eat beef had already consumed the cutlets. This upset a lot of North Indian students there.
Meanwhile, the principal has claimed that the catering for the seminar was outsourced and students themselves were in charge of it.
