The police have increased security and security has been deployed on rooftops and drone surveillance is being carried out. As per the police, anti-riot teams are also present on the spot.

Ayodhya land dispute: As mediation process gets delayed, petition seeks early hearings in Supreme Court

On Tuesday, a petition has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking an early hearing of the Ayodhya dispute citing slow progress in the court-supervised mediation efforts, reports Hindustan Times.

According to the reports, a three-judge bench, headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi has asked petitioner Gopal Singh Visharad to file the necessary application for considering the case to be heard by it. Visharad is one of the parties in the civil suit filed over the land title case.

On March 8, a Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court had referred the long-standing Ram Mandir-Babri Masjid dispute for mediation. The mediation panel is chaired by former Supreme Court judge Justice FMI Kalifulla, along with spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and senior Advocate Sriram Panchu.

The top court had tasked the panel with the responsibility to explore the possibility of an amicable settlement of the decades-old issue. In May, the top court had given extra time to the panel till August 15 to find a solution after the chairman of the mediation panel, Justice FM Khalifullah had sought more time for the mediation process.

The apex court had directed the mediation proceedings shall be kept confidential and that there should not any reporting of the said proceedings either in the print or in the electronic media during the process of mediation, which was decided to be held in-camera.

The apex court is also considering a petition by the central government which wants to release the 67.7 acres of land acquired in 1993 around the 0.303 acres of land where the disputed structure stood, to its original owners.

VHP releases list of hate crimes against Hindus, says politicians and media conspiring to instigate riots against Hindus

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Monday has issued a statement accusing some journalists, politicians and jihadi elements belonging to ‘secular’ media of conspiring to instigate riots against Hindus in the country.

In a press statement, VHP international joint secretary Dr Surendra Jain has stated that the so-called mob lynching incidents have been exaggerated and highlighted in the past, which proved that the ‘Khan market gang’ and politicians of the so-called secular media, seemed busy in instigating the Muslim community for a violent attack on the Hindus.

Dr Jain also stated that it has been clear now that the alleged killing of Tabrez Ansari in Jharkhand did not happen because of public beating and despite this, Muslims made huge demonstrations in Surat, Ranchi, Bhopal and several other cities raising anti-Hindu and anti-national slogans while attacking security forces.

He further accused of carrying out a politically motivated exercise to propagate lies against the Hindu community. Despite allegation proving to be false, there was no clarification forthcoming on it proving that there was malicious intent, said Jain.

The VHP also questioned if some of the vested interests are doing such propaganda to create a riotous situation in the country in the face of impending assembly elections. The way Jihadists immediately launching an attack on the Hindus, is very shameful, said VHP statement.

“The way 5-6 incidents, all half-truths, were falsely used as a propaganda material to fuel anti-Hindu and an anti-national atmosphere, seems to be a part of a larger anti-national conspiracy. VHP wants to know from these journalists and politicians how they and the so-called minorities would have reacted if the Mosques were the targets of attack instead of the temples?,” asked VHP in its press statement.

The VHP has also released a list of some incidents to unveil the conspiracy and prove that Hindus are the real victims of mob lynchings. Citing the barbaric incidents of the genocide of Kashmiri Hindus, killing of Arun Mahore, Dhruv Tyagi, Ankit Saxena, etc., the VHP said that these are some examples of the hundreds of victims of mob lynching.

Here is the list of incidents of Islamic Jihadi attacks on Hindus released by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad.

Earlier, OpIndia had published a similarly detailed account of incidents in which Muslims were perpetrators of terror on non-Muslim community especially Hindus. These detailed account further busts the “Dara Hua Musalman” narrative of the ‘liberal-secular’ media, which often indulges in overlooking crimes committed by Muslims against Hindus to sustain their political and ideological agenda.

The VHP also said that unfortunately, these incidents fail to arouse the compassion and questioned the hypocrisy of the journalists for transforming Dadri into a pilgrimage following the alleged killing of Akhlaq while maintaining a stoic silence on these mob lynching of Hindus.

“The whole world knows that Hindus are not inherently violent and will not resort to mob lynching. world History and recent events tell us very clearly that mob lynching and genocide of non-believers is the nature and religious duty of a certain religious order,” said VHP.

The VHP also asked all these journalists, so-called ‘intellectuals’ and politicians on why they were insulting the glorious traditions of tolerance of the Hindu society by turning a blind eye to the violent acts of jihadists just to fulfil their selfish motives.

Similarly, Bajrang Dal had also issued a statement stating that they will be holding nationwide protests against Jihadist attacks on Hindus on Tuesday. The Bajrang Dal, which is often the first line of defence against the Islamic onslaught on Hindus had also said that they will hold demonstrations against fake incidents of mob lynching of Muslims, attack of temples and other violence on Hindus by Islamic Jihadi organisations.

On July 8, Legal Rights Observatory, a legal activist group, has written to the leading news broadcasters who as members of The News Broadcasters Association (NBA), asking to exercise restraint while reporting incidents of lynching. In an email sent to news organisations, the legal group said that many cases of lynching have been proved fake and fabricated, hence they should very cautious while reporting such events.

Legal Rights Observatory had alleged that overzealous Indian media has provided fodder to international media in spreading lies about the persecution of Muslims in the name of “Jai Shri Ram”. LRO had cautioned the ‘liberal-secular’ media of such careless, irresponsible, communally inflammatory reporting by influential media outlets as it may add fuel to the fire.

LRO has requested the news broadcasters to refrain from provocative, malicious and fake journalism to help maintain peace and communal harmony in the country.

Congress opposes Modi govt’s Jallianwala Bagh National Memorial (Amendment) Bill that seeks to end automatic nomination of Congress President

The Modi government on Monday introduced the Jallianwala Bagh National Memorial (Amendment) Bill, that seeks to do away with the automatic nomination of the President of the Indian National Congress (INC) to the Jallianwala Bagh Trust and gives more power to the Central government to terminate the term of a nominated trustee.

The bill was moved in the Lok Sabha by Culture Minister, Prahlad Singh Patel.

This bill was vehemently opposed by the Congress in the lower house calling it an “arbitrary act”. Opposing the bill, Shashi Tharoor of the Congress said it was a “denial of the heritage of the country.” furthering that “the bill should be stopped. It is a national memorial, do not betray our history and heritage.”

Responding to the opposition, Patel said, “I will respond to every issue raised by members during the debate on the Bill,” pointing out that the Congress President has been a trustee since last 45-50 years but had done nothing for the memorial in those years.

The Bill amends the Jallianwala Bagh National Memorial Act, 1951.

The Jallianwala Bagh National Memorial Act, 1951 provides for the erection a National Memorial in memory of the victims of the 13 April 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre. The Act provides for a Trust to maintain the National Memorial.

The President of the Indian National Congress is one of the trustees, making it favourable to one party. Also, in the absence of a Leader of Opposition, there would be no trustee from the Lok Sabha.

In December 2018, the Centre approved an amendment to the Act to resolve these issues. Consequently, in February the Lok Sabha passed The Jallianwala Bagh National Memorial (Amendment) Bill, 2018 which proposes to remove the President of the Indian National Congress as a trustee. It further clarifies that in the absence of a Leader of Opposition the leader of the single largest opposition party in the Lok Sabha would be the trustee.

The bill has also an added clause that allows the central government to terminate the term of a nominated trustee before the expiry of his term without assigning any reason.

A similar one was brought by Modi government 1.0, but then too, though the bill was passed in the 16th Lok Sabha it could not be passed in Rajya Sabha.

Now, after coming back to power, the Modi government plans to once again bring up the bill for discussion.

The Jallianwala Bagh National Memorial (Amendment) Bill, 2019 was one of the 40 bills proposed by the Modi government in its first parliamentary session of the 17th Lok Sabha.

Pakistan claims Russia invited Imran Khan to the EEF in September. No we did not, says Russia

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan has not been invited to the Eastern Economic Forum scheduled to be held at the Russian city of Vladivostok in September. Russia, the host of the summit, had to step in to clarify after a section of media, especially in Pakistan, had recently reported that their PM Imran Khan will be ‘a guest of honour’ at the summit.

A report in Pakistani news outlet Dawn

Recently, several Pakistani media outlets had quoted ‘foreign office sources’ to claim that Pakistani PM Imran Khan has been invited to attend the Eastern Economic Forum to be held at the eastern Russian port city of Vladivostok from September 4 to September 6.

The media reports claimed that Russian president Vladimir Putin had extended the invitation to Imran Khan during the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Summit held last month in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

As reported by WION, clarifying over the issue, the Russian Foreign Ministry had yesterday made a statement that said, “We drew attention to the publications in a number of South Asian media that the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Imran Khan was invited to the events of the Eastern Economic Forum (WEF-5) in Vladivostok (September 4-6, this year) as the guest of honour”.

The statement further read, “We expect that the President of Mongolia H Battulga, the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of Malaysia M Mohammad and the Prime Minister of Japan S Abe will arrive in Vladivostok.”

“Overall 3 Prime Ministers and one President will be attending the forum”, the statement asserted, clarifying that Imran Khan is not among the invited leaders.

It is notable here that the Eastern Economic Forum is the international summit for which Russian President Vladimir Putin had extended an invitation to PM Modi back in January, before the general elections.

The invitation had created a stir in Indian media and political circles because it had represented the confidence asserted by PM Modi’s government over coming back to power in the May 2019 elections.

Russian president Putin had invited PM Modi to attend the forum as a special guest back in January 2019 over a telephone conversation. Putin had reiterated the invitation again in February during another formal conversation between the two leaders.

PM Modi’s Russia visit will also coincide with the 20th India-Russia annual summit. Russia’s eastern region is rich in natural resources and Russia is keen on Indian investment there, as a part of India’s act-east policy under PM Modi.

The Eastern Economic forum has been meeting since 2015 to discuss business and investments in Russia’s far east region. Putin had also mentioned in his recent address to Kremlin that PM Modi and Japan’s PM Shinzo Abe will be attending the EEF this year.

As per reports, Russia has also conveyed to India that the Pakistani reports are false and Imran Khan has not been invited to the EEF. A report in The Economic Times stated that Putin’s advisor Anton Kobyakov and Indian envoy to Russia Bala Venkatesh Varma had met on Monday to discuss preparations for the EEF.

The ET report also mentioned that PM Modi has commissioned several business missions and five chief ministers to attend the EEF with him in September.

After blaming Praveen Chakravarty for 2019 poll debacle, Congress all set to disband the Data Analytics department

Congress was handed a crushing defeat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections with PM Modi led BJP winning more seats than they did in 2014. After the poll debacle, Congress tried its best to blame several factors for its loss. From blaming Congress leaders of not chanting ‘chowkidaar chor hai’ loud enough to a dynast like Rahul Gandhi blaming other leaders of looking out for their sons, Congress tried everything. One of the scapegoats for Rahul Gandhi’s incompetence was Praveen Chakravarty, Congress’ Data Analytics Department’s head.

The Congress blamed Praveen Chakravarty for misleading Rahul Gandhi and feeding him wrong information that led to the poll debacle in 2019. In fact, the Congress also suspected that Praveen Chakravarty was a mole planted by the Modi government to ensure that Rahul Gandhi is fed misinformation in order to hand him a loss.

Now, the Congress party has decided to disband the Data Analytics Department altogether. According to a report in DNA, the Congress is all set to disband the Data Analytics Department that was once headed by Praveen Chakravarty.

According to the report, the next party chief will have to decide whether the department needs a revamp and to what extent its inputs are to be taken into consideration while deciding candidates and making electoral decisions.

Praveen Chakravarty was responsible for handling the Shakti App on the basis of which inputs were given to Rahul Gandhi. He was evidently made to believe by Praveen Chakravarty that the party will be securing somewhere between 164 and 184 seats in the elections.

Rahul Gandhi, based on these superficial reports, seems to contacted his UPA allies M.K. Stalin, Akhilesh Yadav, Omar Abdullah, Sharad Pawar and Tejashwi Yadav amongst others, and offered to accommodate some of them in the next Cabinet. He had even reportedly obtained two letters from a senior legal luminary to enable him to stake claim to form the next government. The Congress party had even planned a victory procession to celebrate the exit of the BJP and had instructed a select few Delhi leaders to mobilise a crowd of nearly 10,000 people outside the AICC office on 24, Akbar Road.

Mumbai Police registers complaint against TikTok ‘celebrities’ for inciting violence through social media

The Mumbai Police cyber cell has registered a complaint against the group of TikTok ‘influencers’ who had propagated revenge over Tabrez Ansari’s death.

According to the reports, Shiv Sena activist Ramesh Solanki filed a complaint against TikTok group named ‘Team 07’ consisting – Faisal Shaikh, Hasnain Khan, Faiz Baloch, Adnan Shaikh and Sadhan Faroqui, who have a combined followers strength of over four crore people.

In a video uploaded in Tik Tok, the group had propagated revenge against people over 22-year-old Jharkhand man Tabrez Ansari’s death. “You may have killed that innocent Tabrez Ansari, but tomorrow if his son takes revenge, do not say that all Muslims are terrorists,” the video claimed.

The videos went viral after they were shared on social media. As soon as it became viral, Solanki registered a complaint, stating that the video talks about how “the public at large may have killed Tabrez, but if tomorrow, his progeny exercises revenge then he mustn’t be a called a ‘Muslim Terrorist’.
“Not only does it pass judgement as to a matter still subjudice, but it also seems to justify acts of terrorism and is clearly inciting the next of kin of the victims of lynchings to take to terrorism to achieve justice. These guys are justifying violence and terrorism, sending a wrong message to the masses,” Solanki added.
Meanwhile, taking note of the videos, TikTok has removed the video from its app calling it a “violation of their community guidelines.” It further said that it will continue to take appropriate action against such videos. Contrary to media reports, their accounts are not yet suspended.
The case has been registered under sections 153(A) and 34 of Indian Penal code (IPC) at Mumbai’s LT Marg Police station.

Mumbai Police statement on a case registered against Muslim youth for instigating violence through Tik Tok

In June 2019, Tabrez Ansari who was allegedly caught stealing was beaten up by a mob. Later, he was handed over to the police. Four days later, he died in police custody.

However, the investigation team had concluded that Tabrez Ansari died as a consequence of stress-induced cardiac arrest and not due to mob-lynching.

Cricket World Cup Preview – India v New Zealand semi-finals

After nearly 6 weeks of the Cricket World Cup, we are finally in the endgame now with India taking on New Zealand in the first of the two semifinals at Old Trafford.

While Indian captain Virat Kohli refused to name his preferred opponent ahead of the semifinal, New Zealand is widely seen as the easier draw at this stage. Since beating the West Indies in a thriller, New Zealand have lost 3 games in a row, and they have managed to edge through on the back of better Net Run Rate than Pakistan.

Kane Williamson has been expectedly among runs (an average of 96.20 in the group stage), but rest of the top order hasn’t really fired throughout the competition. Martin Guptill has been struggling for runs since the unbeaten half century in the first game against Sri Lanka and his partners, Munro and Nicholls, haven’t fired either. Ross Taylor has scored couple of valuable half centuries but an average of 37 in the competition with a strike rate of 75 shows he is yet to hit the form that made him the most prolific batsman behind Kohli since the 2015 World Cup.

All that has meant that the responsibility for run scoring has fallen on Williamson’s shoulders in every game and while he has responded well, he would appreciate a little help from senior pros like Guptill and Ross Taylor in this high stakes game. Their lower middle order of Neesham and Colin de Grandhomme have been chipping in with useful runs, and can provide a big finish to the innings if the top order provides them with a good base.

No such problem with New Zealand’s bowling though with Ferguson, Boult, Henry, Neesham all among wickets. Ferguson missed the game against England due to an injury but he is back to full fitness and his extra pace during the middle overs can trouble the Indian batsmen. On an Old Trafford surface expected to be full of runs, wickets through the middle overs can be critical to stopping India below 300 and Ferguson is the man to provide them.

India has no problems at the top of the order unlike their opponents today. Rohit Sharma has been in scintillating form hitting 5 centuries in the group stage. KL Rahul, coming in for injured Shikhar Dhawan at the top of the order, has been among runs, even if he hasn’t looked as fluent as Rohit. Virat Kohli has looked imperious as usual, hitting 5 half centuries in his 8 innings so far.

Indian problems have been in the middle order for a while now and that will be under scrutiny again today. Whether they go for Kedar Jadhav at 6 to get the cushion of an extra bowler, or stick with Dinesh Karthik who played last 2 games remains to be seen. Pant and Dhoni look pretty secure at 4 and 5 for now.

Indian bowling has been led superbly by Jasprit Bumrah but who will open the bowling with him will be interesting. Shami has picked up lots of wickets in his limited opportunities but has leaked a lot of runs at the death and Bhuvi looked a little off color against Bangladesh after his return from injury. Which one of the two will partner Bumrah or will India spring a surprise by playing all 3 and leave out an out of form Kuldeep remains to be seen.

The venue

Old Trafford has been a bat first, bat big venue for the past few years with average first innings score well over 300. India scored 336 against Pakistan at the same venue earlier in the tournament and any team batting first will be looking for a score in the same region. There is a threat of rain around and DLS may favour the team chasing but on the big stage, in a World Cup semifinal, on a flat wicket, expect the captain to bat first after winning the toss.

Virat Kohli says he will remind Kane Williamson of U19 World Cup semi-final played in 2008

Wayback in 2008, two young batsmen, who also happened to be the captain of their respective teams, Virat Kohli and Kane Williamson were battling against each other in the under 19 World Cup semi-final.

Eleven years later, Virat Kohli and Kane Williamson will be playing against each other in another World Cup semi-final, on a different venue. The three players from the New Zealand team who featured in the U-19 World Cup will also be part of their senior side of the World Cup are Kane Williamson, Trent Boult, and Tim Southee. For India, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja are the two players who will be part of both the U-19 2008 semi and World Cup 2019 semi squads.

A Twitter thread on this co-incidence went viral, and even Virat Kohli mentioned this in the pre-match press conference.

Speaking to media, Kohli said, “I’m sure he remembers. When we meet tomorrow, I’ll remind him. It’s quite nice to captain the senior team in a World Cup from U19. There are a lot of players from our batch and their batch, and from other teams who have made it to the national team. It feels good.” He said that neither he nor Williamson could have anticipated this would happen. “I got Kane’s wicket, did I?. I don’t know if that can happen again now,” he added.

Kane Williamson had a similar reaction when he was reminded of their U19 clash in 2008, “Oh dear, tell me how. He used to be an all-rounder I think back in the day, but hasn’t bowled as much recently.”

Indian innings highlight from U-19 World Cup Semi-final

The U19 World Cup semi-final was played on February 27, 2008, in Kualalampur. Kane won the toss and decided to bat first in the rain-affected match. New Zealand scored 205 in their 50 overs. Kane who played as an opener scored 37 off 80 balls and the wicket-keeper of Kohli’s delivery stumped him. Tim Southee scored 11 runs at number 5, while Boult didn’t get a chance to bat. Ravindra Jadeja took a wicket in his six overs spell in which he gave 21 runs.

India got a target of 191 runs to chase in 43 overs through the Duckworth-lewis method due to rain. Virat Kohli scored 43 runs in the chase and was caught by none other than Kane Williamson. Kohli also added 84 vital runs with wicket-keeper Goswami which helped the team to chase the target successfully in 41.3 overs. Jadeja scored one run for the team. Southee took four wickets while Boult took 1. Virat Kohli was adjudged man of the match for his 43 runs and two wickets.

India plays against New Zealand today at Old Trafford Cricket Ground.
