Singer Mika Singh detained in Dubai on charges of sending obscene pictures to teenager

Mika Singh had allegedly sent obscene pictures to a minor girl

According to reports, singer Mika Singh has been detained by the Dubai police. He was detained at 3 AM local time last night in Dubai. Some reports say that he has been arrested.

According to police, Mika had sent some obscene pictures to a minor Brazilian girl. The 17-year-old girl had lodged a complaint with police after receiving the message. After that Dubai police promptly detained Mika who was already in Dubai. A case has been lodged against the singer for sexual harassment.

Mika Singh was in Dubai to attend an award show on December 4. On that day, he had tweeted that he landed in Dubai for the Masala Awards.

Masala Awards is an annual event in Dubai where each year the best talent in the entertainment field from the ‘Asian community in the UAE’ are recognised and celebrated. Kareena Kapoor Khan and Kartik Aaryan were among the celebrities from Bollywood who attended the event this year.

After his detention in Dubai, Mika Singh was taken to Abu Dhabi. He is currently kept at Abu Dhabi jail, while his friends are trying to get a bail for him. As courts were already closed when they reached Abu Dhabi in the afternoon, he could not be produced in court.

The celebrity singer is not unfamiliar with controversies. In 2015, when he was an active supporter of the Aam Aadmi Party, he had abused many people on Twitter with filthy language. In 2016, he had made fun of the surname of actress Diana Penty during an event to unveil the music of a movie. During the event, Mika had said “she is Diana Panty, I am Mika Kachcha”, which shocked everyone present. Althout Diana kept quite at that time, later she objected to it, saying “I don’t find these jokes funny. I don’t even understand how people laugh at such comments.”
