Rahul Gandhi lies yet again, blames BJP and RSS for Periyar statue vandalised in Tamil Nadu

0

On 19 March, a statue of EV Ramaswamy (Periyar) was found vandalised in Tamil Nadu. It generated wide condemnation and criticism across the state. Superstar Rajnikanth and DMK chief Stalin voiced criticism for it and the DMK cadre in the town of Pudukkottai organised a protest.

However, Congress President Rahul Gandhi took it as another opportunity to blame the BJP and RSS. Yesterday Rahul Gandhi tweeted that after vandalisation of the Lenin statue in Tripura, the BJP and RSS are now vandalising Periyar statues in Tamil Nadu.

Rahul Gandhi’s claim was again proved to be false today when a CRPF employee on vacation in his native town Pudukkottai was arrested and he confessed to the crime. The person named S Senthil Kumar, a head constable in the 150th battalion of CRPF has reportedly confessed to having committed the act in an inebriated state. He has been sent to judicial custody for 15 days and the statue has been restored.

Rahul Gandhi has not issued a comment or clarification yet.

As a matter of fact, blaming the BJP-RSS was not the only thing wrong in the Congress President’s tweet apparently. He had also claimed that Periyar fought for the Dalits and he was a social reformer. This has been refuted widely and there are many instances where Periyar’s version of ‘social reforms‘ and his views was stated to be in contrast to democratic and nationalist views of nation-builders like BR Ambedkar. Periyar had notions like fabrics becoming pricey because of Dalit women beginning to wear jackets and closing Dalits off educational institutions so that cheap labour remains available. The brutal incident of 44 Dalit women and children being massacred by their non-brahmin landlords in Kizhvenmani village in TN IN 1968 did not get any condemnation from Periyar.

Pilgrims from Pakistan denied visas for visit to Ajmer Sharif

0

India has denied visas to over 500 pilgrims who wanted to visit Ajmer Sharif for the 806th Urs which began on Monday, according to the Pakistani government. All the 503 zaireens who had applied for Visa were denied approval by the Indian government over the recent deterioration of the relationship between the two countries.

The Pakistan Foreign Office (FO) Spokesperson said in a statement, “Pakistan notes with deep disappointment the non-issuance of visas by India for the visit of the 503 Pakistani Zaireen (pilgrims) to participate in the Urs of Hazrat Khawaja Moinuddin Chishti (RA) at Ajmer Sharif, India from 19-29 March 2018. The visit was to take place under the 1974 Pakistan-India Protocol on Visits to Religious Shrines and is a regular annual feature.”

Indian sources, however, have reportedly said the Visas were withheld because India was denied access to Pakistan’s database for verification of the visa applications. One source said, “Such visits are facilitated and promoted following due processes. However, from time to time, such visits cannot take place in view of prevailing circumstances and absence of security clearances. There have been instances in the past when such visits did not take place from both sides.”

Recently, Indian diplomats in Pakistan alleged harassment following which India had sent its 13th diplomatic missive to Pakistan on Sunday, lodging a fresh protest against “intimidation and harassment of Indian high commission officials”. On Sunday, a family in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district had been killed in a ceasefire violation by Pakistan along the LoC. Under such turbulent circumstances, Visas have denied to Pakistani pilgrims.

The Ministry of External Affairs is yet to officially comment on the incident.

‘Special Status’ demand that is blocking the parliament could lead to a dangerous domino effect

0

The parliament is being stalled continuously by the MPs from Andhra Pradesh over the ‘special status’ demand ever since the second part of the budget session began on 5th March. In an earlier article, the background of Andhra’s special status demand and the political deadlock was explained in detail.

Granting a special status to one state would obviously revive earlier demands for special status which had been rejected in the past. After seeing the success of Andhra MPs in stalling the parliament persistently on this demand, Bihar MP Pappu Yadav has also submitted a notice to discuss a special status for Bihar.

The last time Bihar’s demand was examined was under UPA. An inter-ministerial group had rejected Bihar’s plea as it did not fulfil the criteria for declaring it as a special category state. The criteria for declaring a state as backward are:

  • Hilly and difficult terrain,
  • Low population density and a sizeable share of tribal population,
  • Strategic location along borders with neighbouring countries,
  • Economic and infrastructure backwardness
  • Non-viable State finances.

The state’s Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had also been a vocal advocate of the special status recognition. Instead of the ‘special status,’ the state is now getting a ‘special package‘ which will help the state overcome its backwardness. Even Odisha had been demanding for a special category under UPA regime. Similar to Bihar, Odisha’s demand had also been rejected. Now both JDU and BJD are reviving their demands along with TDP in order to up the ante against a resurgent BJP and revive their political capital in their home states. Eventually, other backward states like Rajasthan could also jump on the bandwagon.

If the centre were to agree to larger allocations for these backward states in addition to what is being disbursed under the current scheme, it would further anger southern states which are already complaining about taxes from their states being given to backward states in the North. Thus, a balancing act which seems to be working reasonably well would be destabilised if the centre gives the special status to any particular state.

It is true that the BJP had promised the special category status to Andhra during its campaign. In its place, the centre has offered a special package which would be its monetary equivalent. If Andhra MPs don’t stop their agitation and settle for a compromise, they could jeopardise the sympathy their state has received so far. It would also provide credence to other demands for ‘special status’ by states which are worse off than Andhra.

Petrol bomb hurled at BJP leader’s house, a day after Periyar’s statue was vandalized

0

Two weeks after a petrol bomb attack on BJP’s office at Coimbatore, unidentified men hurled another petrol bomb at the house of BJP district president, C.R. Nandakumar. The Police are currently investigating the matter. City Police Commissioner K Periaiah, who visited the place, said, “We have got CCTV visuals of the persons involved in the attack. The specials teams have been instructed to act quickly and trace the assailants.”

State BJP President, Dr Tamilisai Soundarajan, condemned the attack on the BJP leader.

Earlier this month, two petrol bombs were hurled at the BJP office in Coimbatore. No damages were reported in the incident. A member of Thanthai Periyar Dravida Kazhagam was taken into custody by the Police after the incident. The attack was perceived to be in response to BJP leader H Raja’s comments on Periyar.

The attack took place at around 3.00 a.m. on Wednesday while the leader was asleep with his family. The car parked outside the residence was damaged but no one has been injured in the incident. A day before, another statue of Periyar was found vandalized in the Pudukottai district of Tamil Nadu. The attack on Nandakumar’s residence is suspected to be an act of retaliation as well.

Nandakumar said, “We suspect the role behind in the incident is by the members of an outfit supporting Periyar for taking a revenge for vandalising the Periyar statue in Pudukottai.” A CRPF personnel was arrested for Periyar statue vandalisation earlier.

Dear Congress, ISIS is the villain here, not Sushma Swaraj

0

Yesterday Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj announced in Rajya Sabha that the 39 Indians missing in Iraq were confirmed to be dead. 39 of our citizens were killed by ISIS. As expected the opposition and the media soon went into a spin overdrive. The media started quoting the family members of the victims on why they were not informed before and why the government kept on giving them false hope. One media house quoted a victim’s kin saying, ‘we were made to undergo DNA tests’. Media even started quoting Harjit Masih, the lone survivor who had escaped under a Muslim name and false identity declaring that he had already told they were dead.

The eloquent Shashi Tharoor joined in too. Though the MEA explained the long and arduous process the ministry, especially MoS General VK Singh went through to trace those people and establish without a shred of doubt that they were, in fact, dead is being convincingly ignored by the media and the opposition both.

‘Dead’ is a finality. An absolution. The ministry of external affairs made sure that it has exhausted all resources, availed all means of investigations and employed every possible verification process before they arrived into that absolution and finality of announcing someone’s dear one ‘dead’. Sushma Swaraj and her team are heroes.

ISIS took control of Mosul in June 2014. Days after that, Indian officials in Iraq informed that they have lost contacts with the 40 Indian citizens employed in Mosul in a construction project. In July 2014, 46 nurses in Tikrit were set free. This further raised hope of those 40 workers being alive too. In May 2015, almost a year later, Harjit Masih claimed he was a lone survivor and the others were shot dead. Despite media repeatedly giving Masih his ‘didn’t I say so’ moment, the fact remains that he lied.

Harjit Masih told the press that all Indian workers were taken to a jungle and shot. That was not true. He had escaped with the 55 Bangladeshi workers using a fake name. A fake Muslim name. Interestingly, that is one angle none of the opposition or media is willing to discuss. The uncomfortable truth: ISIS set Muslims free and killed non-Muslims in cold blood.

The fact is, the other 39 Indians were not shot as Masih claimed. They were taken to a prison in Badush near Mosul. When PM Modi met the Palestinian President Mehmood Abbas in New York he was informed that the Indians might be alive. The government of India had also heard from other sources that they were still alive. As of July 2016, Ms Swaraj had information that they were alive and being used as bonded labour for construction and farm work by ISIS.

mass graves in Iraq

The above is a picture of how mass graves in Iraq looked like. Imagine tracing the movements and final known location of individuals when Mosul had fallen. Going to the war-torn and chaotic Iraq to convince the authorities to spare personnel and resources to trace the possible locations of Indian who might have been there. Then contacting and pursuing the concerned authorities and individuals working in those mass graves and finalise the possible locations, all the above-mentioned things is what General VK Singh went through to finally conclude that the mound at Badush may contain the bodies of the Indian workers. All this was possible only after July 10, 2017. When Mosul was liberated from ISIS.

When VK Singh went to Badush with Iraqi authorities, they were informed by locals about a mound where a mass grave was expected. With the help of Iraqi officials, the mound was exhumed and several remains were discovered. The presence of some ID cards, long hair, kadas (bracelet) and non-Iraqi made shoes suggested they might have belonged to Indians and so the bodies were sent to Baghdad. The martyr’s foundation in Iraq asked for DNA samples from relatives of the victims to confirm identity. After identity was finally established and informed to the Indian government, then only Sushma Swaraj informed in the Parliament about the death of those 39 people.

Sushma Swaraj had mentioned the difficulties the MEA had to encounter for confirmation. Iraq was and is in chaos. We Indians should consider ourselves fortunate to have an MEA like Ms Swaraj who did not give up. Unlike the UPA government who gave up on Sarabjit Singh, this government is still fighting for Kulbhushan Jadhav.

The people who are questioning the government’s intention should question themselves.

  1. Should the government have relied on false and contradictory statements of Harjit Masih alone and declared the 39 Indians dead?
  2. Should the government, despite information that they were alive after Masih escaped, informed the families of the victims that their loved ones are dead?
  3. Should the government have ignored the numerous sources that kept informed of the possibility of the 39 people being alive?
  4. Should the government have not used all resources available to trace the last known location and possible place of death of these people?
  5. Should the government have not waited for conclusive DNA evidence before declaring someone dead?

There are numerous instances where forgotten Indian soldiers were later found to be alive. Sepoy Jaspal Singh who fought in 71 war was later found to be languishing in Oman jail.

What is most disheartening in this whole case is how conveniently the Indian media and Congress, in particular, are deliberately ignoring to condemn and point out the very reason the 39 Indians are dead, the ISIS. None of the Congress leaders who have been vocally criticising the government after the announcement yesterday has condemned the ISIS so far. None so far have discussed the brutality of Islamic terrorism.

The story of the 39 Indians killed in Iraq is tragic. They went there looking for work There were reports that they had paid middlemen and agents lakhs of rupees to go and work in Iraq. Such was the necessity of employment that they even ignored the warnings by Indian and Iraqi officials to leave the country. While they worked in prison they might even have hoped that the ISIS would set them free. There are a dozen tragic tales of poverty, lack of jobs and exploitations here. But blaming the government for lack of efforts or lack of intent is absolutely wrong.

General VK Singh will soon leave for Baghdad to bring the last remains of the 39 people back home. That will be a finality. Their families will never have the joy of their presence but the MEAs relentless efforts will give them closure. Sushma Swaraj and her staff have left no effort spared in establishing confirmation of their deaths. She had stated again and again that she won’t declare them dead until it has been conclusively established and she deserves our applause, for not letting go, for not giving up.

Regardless of what the media portrays, the family of a person never truly believes their loved one is dead until they see conclusive evidence. Sushma Swaraj has done the same. She kept hopes and efforts alive till the last moment. The MEA deserves our salute.

Amnesty India, Trust chaired by Sonia Gandhi under govt scanner for alleged FCRA violations

0

Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju, informed the Lok Sabha on Tuesday that a total of 42 organisations including Sonia Gandhi led – Rajiv Gandhi Charitable Trust and Amnesty International (India) Foundation, were under the Home Ministry’s scanner for allegedly violating foreign funding laws. The minister made this statement while replying to a written question in the lower house.

The other organisations under scrutiny include Mary Kom Regional Boxing Foundation, Nasscom and Asianet New Charitable Trust in Kerala.

As per the reports, a total of 42 such organisations are under the government’s scanner for the said violations. Out of these 42, half of the organisations have been served a questionnaire (comprising of 32 questions), for scrutinising violations under the Foreign Contributions Regulation Act (FCRA) act. If the replies of the same are found unsatisfactory, then the organisations end up getting audited.

For the rest 21 organisations, the agencies have conducted an audit and inspection. As per the TOI report, this process has been completed for Nasscom and various Christian organisations of Arunachal and Kerala.

The most high profile organisation of them all might be the Rajiv Gandhi Charitable Trust which is chaired by former Congress President Sonia Gandhi.

Incidentally this isn’t the only time this trust has landed in a soup. It was reported how the trust was accused of land grabbing in Amethi. This led to Amethi district administration instructing the trust to vacate the said 1.0360-hectare land in August, 2017.

Since coming to power, the Modi government has declared a war of sorts on NGOs not following the rule book.

As reported recently, the Modi government had recently revoked the FCRA registration of prominent Indian institutions like the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Delhi University, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and IIT-Delhi, because these institutes had not filed their returns for a period of 5 consecutive years from, 2010-11 to 2014-15.

This cancellation of registration meant that these institutes were rendered unable to receive foreign funding.

The government had also directed 1,222 NGOs to validate their bank accounts where they receive the foreign funds, failing which punitive action would be taken against them. Such NGOs included prominent ones like Sri Ramakrishna Math, Ramakrishna Mission and Coimbatore Christian Charitable Trust.

We had reported in the past how a sizeable chunk of Indian NGOs were under the scanner for financial impropriety, which gave their activities a rather shady tone.

All this crackdown had resulted in the foreign funding for Indian NGOs dropping by 66%.

Canadian journalist abused and threatened for slamming Khalistanis, liberals and feminists maintain silence

0

Canadian journalist Candice Malcolm, who was amongst the first to break the story of Khalistani terrorist Jaspal Atwal being part of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s entourage during his visit to India, has claimed she is being harassed by pro-Khalistan activists on Twitter.

In a tweet posted by Malcolm where she talks about Canadian Sikhs dancing on bhangra beats in snow being her favourite thing on the Internet.

However, she claims she has been called ‘racist’ for calling out Trudeau and his soft stand against the Khalistanis.

A Twitter handle @Nihang responded to Malcolm’s tweet where he likens Malcolm to a porn star and calls a video starring the said porn star his favourite thing on the Internet, ‘despite’ her offensive views.

Nihang, who is followed by Congress spokesperson Priyanka Chaturvedi, Associate Editor of Catch News Aditya Menon, who had earlier defamed the Indian Army by circulating pictures from Syria and opposed the suspension of abusive, murderous troll who celebrated the death of CRPF jawans, and other prominent self proclaimed ‘liberals’ and ‘journalists’.

Candice also claimed that she has been getting perverted and misogynist messages following her stand against Khalistani terrorists.

She claims that this is just the tip of the iceberg and she has been receiving many more such messages.

However, some Twitter users called him out for his offensive tweet.

However, most of the prominent ‘liberal’ and ‘feminist’ voices who follow him were silent.

Delhi Fateh Diwas: When Mughals fell and the holy symbol of Khalsa Panth was unfurled at Red Fort

It was the year 1783 when Sikh leader Baba Baghel Singh conquered Delhi back from the Mughal king Shah Alam. On 11th March 1783, the Sikh army marched bravely to Delhi on horses and elephants and unfurled a Nishan Sahib at Red Fort. Thousands of Sikhs celebrate the day as Fateh Diwas, while the date as per the Gregorian calendar differs every year.

Born in the 1730s in village Jhabal Kalan, Amritsar, into a Dhillon Jatt family, his forefathers had converted to Sikhism during the time of Guru Arjan Sahib in the 1580s. Baghel Singh first invaded Delhi on January 8, 1774, and captured the area up to Shahdara. The second invasion was on July 17, 1775, when the Sikhs captured the area around the present-day Pahar Ganj and Jai Singhpura.

Majority of the fighting took place where present-day New Delhi is located. Shortage of supplies forced Sikhs to temporarily halt their conquering spree, but Red Fort was the final aim. On 11th March 1783, the Sikhs entered the Red Fort in Delhi and occupied the Diwan-E-Aam where Mughal emperor Shah Alam II sat.

Emperor Shah Alam II reconciled with the Sikhs and offered treaty and accepted their terms, including construction of Gurudwaras on Sikh historical sites. Gurudwara Sis Ganj Sahib, where Guru Tegh Bahadur had been executed on the orders of Mughal king Aurangzeb and Gurudwara Rakab Ganj Sahib, where the Guru’s remains were cremated were established by him. He has also been credited with the establishment of Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, Gurudwara Bala Sahib, Gurudwara Majnu Ka Tilla, Gurudwara Moti Bagh, Gurudwara Mata Sundri and Gurudwara Baba Banda Singh Bahadur.

Not many know but even today Delhi stands witness to the brave act of Baba Baghel Singh. The place where Baba Baghel Singh stopped with his troop of 30,000 men in Delhi, is now known as Tis Hazaari. It is now a location for one of the six district courts in Delhi which function under the Delhi High Court.

When the Mughal emperor got to know that the Sikhs are planning to attack Delhi, he ordered all the gates of the Red Fort be closed, especially the ones with access to the rations so that the Sikhs run out of food and go back. Some of the Sikhs, though, accidentally came across a mason who informed them about a part of the wall of the fort which had caved in, but the exterior was intact. The Sikhs reached the spot with the help of the mason and rammed logs of wood through the wall and entered. This place is now known as Mori Gate, where the Inter-State Bus Terminus (ISBT) now stands. After winning the Red Fort, the Sikhs distributed sweets. The place is now known as Mithai Pul.

This year, Delhi Fateh Diwas is being celebrated on 21st March.

When we talk about Indian history, especially pre-British era, why do we leave out the glorious history of the Sikhs? Their courage to stand up against forceful religious conversions to Islam? The brutal treatment of the Sikhs on hands of the barbaric Mughals? Why is Mughal history whitewashed and taught in school syllabus across the country and Sikh history pushed away in the background? Let us pledge to read and talk a bit more about our heroes, lest it is forgotten.

The DMK party and their ‘Dravida Nadu’ absurdity

0

MK Stalin has once again brought up the recurring idea of forming a new nation with the five southern states. “Dravida Nadu” he calls it. The proponents of this Dravida Nadu present rather confused explanations for the segregation from India. Let us organise their implausible suggestions into two arguments:

1) The “Dravidian identity” that all south Indian states supposedly share.

2) How the rest of India ‘enjoys the massive taxes paid by southern states’.

But to understand this notion of “Dravida Nadu”, we must know the history of Dravidian politics. It all began with the Justice Party in 1916. This party fundamentally stood for non-Brahmins (which to them meant “Dravidians”)  to abandon the “superstitious” Vedic culture practised by these “North Indian outsiders” and stay true to their origins by adopting the rational Dravidian thought.

Brahmins were labelled as “Aryan colonialists” and very often assaulted. The central theme to Dravidianism, in their eyes, was atheism and Dravidian culture was the backbone of the entire movement. This movement got stronger by the day. At one point in 1937, the Congress government decided to make Hindi compulsory, which triggered anger because the party felt that “Aryans were trying to colonise them again” and that marked the beginning of the Dravida Nadu country movement.

In fact, EP Ramaswamy (famously called Periyar), asked for help from Mohammad Ali Jinnah to get a separate country. Jinnah only had sympathies to offer with his own different motives. In simple words, he presented none of the support that Ramaswamy hoped for but a nominal support. Eventually, by 1962, the Dravida Nadu movement withered away because of growing Sino-Indian tensions and a constitutional amendment, invalidating any advocacy of secessionism (supporting the withdrawal from the Indian state).

Yet, time and again, the DMK (which is an offspring of the Justice Party), found themselves bringing it up depending on the opportunity they found. As the AIADMK were very subtle with the Dravidian notion, the DMK has constantly brought it up to uphold their own stance, and taunt their counterparts for “forgetting Dravidianism”.

Obviously, this love for “Dravidian culture” stems from the Aryan Invasion theory. Therefore, do not forget that the Aryan Invasion theory began only as a linguistic concept in the early eighteen hundreds, with no mention of culture, or race, or identity. That then became a literary division, which, much later became a very contradictory racial theory and the latest shape it has taken after being thrown into the mixer, is a political tool that suggests there is a different language, writing, culture, religion and therefore identity. But eventually, the historical, scientific and genetic evidence against the theory got so strong, that even the most vocal supporters and historians (the likes of Romila Thapar) had to call the bluff. Yet, we have an MK Stalin cheerleading his paradise of Dravida Nadu, where he becomes the “founding father of a country” and is treated like Jinnah is in Pakistan.

But whether you speak Tamil, Punjabi, Marathi, Assamese or Hindi, your identity is Indian in terms of both, genetics and principle; and that stands no matter who contends with it.

The second contention of these enthusiasts is that the south in part funds the north with its taxes. They claim that south India contributes massively towards India’s economy and therefore, by becoming a different country they will be happier. It was reported that O.Panneerselvam criticised those who opposed the Dravidian concept, by calling it “fallacious propaganda against the Dravidian rule”, in his budget speech. He had apparently even given ‘comparative data’ to prove Tamil Nadu’s economic influence in India. Siddaramaiah, the Chief Minister of Karnataka too said that south India pays higher taxes than it gets back and “subsidises the north”.

The proponents of Dravida Nadu therefore, claim that the Indian government is somehow ‘using’ southern states for its own benefit and that they can do better on their own; but the argument fails for many reasons.

It is not hard to observe that even though the economy of the southern states may be “booming” now, the cost of setting up an entirely new country will get it into a serious deficit. The costs of various fields such as Social Security Administration, National Defence, Transportation, Labor, Education, the State, Justice, Independent Agencies, Energy, Commerce, The Judicial Branch, The Legislative Branch (assuming Dravida Nadu will be democratic) and various other areas, while setting up the country will crumble an economy. Let me also remind you of Pakistan’s situation post-partition (which involved larger payments from the Indian state than Dravida Nadu could ever get, under colonial pressure). Pakistan still faced a tremendous lack of industry, entrepreneurs and civil servants, and large transition costs. They had no progress terms of sustainability, stability, and equity outcome of the growth process. Is that what is expected of Dravida Nadu? Are people who are living a comfortable life in India supposed to leave it all to live in a shackled country?

Besides, since when did states leave countries because of their affluence? Let us, for sake of argument go by that irrational train of thought. Let us assume then, that being a big contributor to a country is a good enough reason to leave it. So today, we grant Dravida Nadu. Tomorrow, if Chennai becomes a massive contributor to Dravida Nadu’s economy, can it ask for independence too? The next day, Marina beach is doing very well in Chennai; can it ask for a new country?

I ask Mister Stalin a simple question: where does this end? If we go on to grant new nations on such nonsensical grounds, our world will become a circus with no solidarity.

In conclusion, this ridiculous suggestion of Dravida Nadu has no principle behind it. That is mainly because proposing a common “Dravidian Identity” holds no water in an informed India. Politicians who divide and play on people’s emotions must know that these methods of anti-national divisive politics shall not work in this country. Along with banking on a myth, Dravida Nadu has zero practicality to it as it fails the simplest tests it is put through. While I realise that ‘Divide and Rule’ may be Mister Stalin and his party’s best bet in the run up to 2019, people cannot be paying a price for that.

Read why #BoycottTrivago was trending on Twitter

0

Last evening, a tweet of Abhinav Kumar, the country head of travel websites aggregator Trivago, popularly known as ‘Trivago Guy’, went viral, following which he received a lot of backlash. Kumar had tweeted praises for propaganda video creator and Aam Aadmi Party supporter, Dhruv Rathee, following which it came to everyone’s notice that Kumar is also an Aam Aadmi Party supporter. While democracy is all about freedom to support and criticise any political leader you want, Kumar’s support for Kejriwal drew a lot of jokes since AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal himself has ended up being one with recent drama.

Kumar, in his tweet, had complimented Rathee for ‘keeping citizens informed on the real issues’.

While Rathee’s videos, which are nothing short of conspiracy theories, are not worth dignifying with a response, this tweet led to twitterati digging out his older tweets, many of which were anti-Modi and made people angry.

Soon, Twitter users decided to boycott and downrate Trivago app.

But not before he was made a butt of all jokes.

While most were angry with the country head’s views, and not just the annoying ads, many even seemed to have grievances with the app and website.

Soon enough, many users wrote negative reviews in the app store.

Following the backlash, the Trivago guy had deactivated his account, but is back on Twitter now.
