Rome was not built in a day, it was built everyday – unite, fight, make a difference

0

Many like myself were disgusted with the Congress and ashamed to have a Prime Minister like Manmohan Singh, who had demeaned his office to such an extent that he was a parody of himself. There was not one cabinet minister who wasn’t arrogant and infuriating. A constant musical chairs of incompetent but loyal to Sonia Gandhi men and women shunted from one ministry to the other in cabinet reshuffles.

Sometimes it felt she took perverse pleasure in pushing in our face, party members, allies and even a President who were known to be obnoxiously corrupt or compromised. To make matters worse, her dutiful puppet every once in a while, declared that he was only keeping his seat warm for the untested and by all accounts, irresponsible and intellectually deficient, Rahul Gandhi.

On the other hand, the alternate choice before us was a lack lustre BJP. LK Advani wasn’t in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee mould but neither had he anything new to offer for himself. Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley’s oratory was par excellence and when compared to the jarring Sonia Gandhi along with the monosyllabic Manmohan Singh, it was indeed music to the ears. However, it did not escape many of us that despite the din in the Parliament and all the walkouts almost every UPA bill was passed.

So, what exactly did the BJP stand for?

Was it in reality only the ‘Indian National Congress with a cow’ with the Ram Mandir vaguely looming in the background?

In this very disheartening, lack lustre and almost hopeless scenario, Narendra Modi was declared BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate and as a consequence we witnessed a definite electrifying effect on the political scene. For many of us it was as if a defibrillator had been applied. The jolt woke us up from a helpless, depressing slumber. From the howls of rage heard across the media and the establishment. It was a terrifying moment indeed for others. A Narendra Modi victory could well mean years of privilege, access to high echelons and the gravy train coming to a stop.

The election itself was hard, gritty and nasty.

But suddenly there was so much hope. A hope that could be clutched, touched and held despite a panicky mainstream media that was attempting to put out, what was nothing less than a forest fire by stomping all over it.

A successful Chief Minister, a self-made man, with no dynasty behind him or before, brought a newness never experienced. But in our hearts, we did have a moment of worry for this man was new to the clawing, ruthless network of Delhi that had for centuries, chewed and spat out lesser men and women.

We watched with some doubt and trepidation, the chosen Lutyens’s acolyte who was given the task of manoeuvring the power corridors for him. But what the hell. If it was required, so be it.

We looked forward to governance, accountability and a surge of infrastructural, educational and healthcare projects that would improve the quality of life of our neglected masses. We hoped for a foreign policy, the hallmark of which, would be unapologetically pro Indian and would focus on the revival of the economy. Of course, that appeasement which made us feel that we were of a lesser God would be done away with and Sabka Saath Sabka Vikaas would be the path that this government would tread.

The one hope that perhaps everyone harboured in their hearts, was that the looters and thieves of the last regime would pay dearly for their misdeeds.

It must be said that there have been several successes and moments of great pride for a desperately parched Nation, but, there have been a few missteps too and there is no doubt so much more must be done. However, integrity and intent are there to see, which was so painfully lacking in the previous regime. This must be appreciated and applauded. We remember this time, five years ago, all that we could discuss was scams, scams and more scams.

There has been a deep disappointment that old crooks and power brokers still abound fearless in their invincibility. Still, it has been an education in itself to see the serpents of the old ecosystem bare their fangs and coil themselves protectively around one of theirs. An indication of the dangers that lie in poking the nest. Nevertheless, it will have to be eventually done but on the day of one’s choice and preparedness.

Then there are many others who expected much more from a BJP government. Not only an end to the insulting appeasement but a rectifying of decades and might one say, even centuries of injustice. In places of worship, education, history, tradition, culture so criminally neglected by past establishments and their entrenched eco-systems for reasons that can be discussed till the cows come home.

It’s accepted that the job of any elected government is to provide temporal relief, to win elections, make inroads into new vote banks and to stay in power so as to continue the policies and work it set out to do in the first place. Citizens, pressure groups must demand and leverage the rest. For a government to comply, a movement must be seen. The first step was taken with the consolidation of the Hindu vote. Civilizational changes don’t take place while we are away at work or whatever we do. It’s something that people make happen.

In the first month of 2018, a year away from the next general elections, give or take, many BJP supporters are voicing disappointment. They feel let down and are not motivated enough to go out and vote for the BJP again. They will go NOTA they say. Not voting for the BJP but not voting for the Congress either. But Gujarat has made us aware of the pitfalls of such voting patterns and how it helps the Opposition claim a hollow but ‘moral victory’.

And hence, here is where I ask them to re consider.

Our history is such that there were many among our forefathers who invited what they thought was a lesser enemy to fight a bigger one. Then, they learnt to their peril and realised that it was not a smart idea at all. There were many others who promised their band of soldiers but then didn’t turn up for battle, or worse, opened the gates for a few pieces of silver, a Jagir or a place at Court.

For those mistakes, we have paid very dearly.

However, we mustn’t forget that they were also those who fought battle after battle against what seemed an invincible, cruel, unscrupulous enemy. Ignoring danger to life and limb they went back to fight another day.

Imagine the determination.

That courage to fight day after day, year after year, decade after decade for generations to come. If we are still here, it’s only because of them. It would be such injustice to our future generations if we give up after a mere five years. When after seventy long years we have both – opportunity, and a leader of calibre.

This journey is for the long haul and not for the faint hearted. There are millions of educated Indians who only read mainstream newspapers, watch the standard dozen panelists on TV and forward WhatsApp messages. They are completely unaware of the discriminatory nature of RTE, have no knowledge that their temples, unlike mosques and churches, are under the control of the government or how we barely escaped, by the skin of our teeth, the devious Communal Bill.

But yes, they have noticed that the festivals and traditions that are held dear, have over the years been subliminally and cleverly nibbled away. It must be noted that they are primed for discussion and debate.

So, wake up every morning, strap yourself with the weapon of your choice and then, fight the battle in your own small way. Inform, educate, spread the word.

Didn’t anybody tell you civilizational wars are not won in a day?

Forget about hearing you, the other lot don’t even see you. So, demand, extract and most importantly – make a dent, do your bit. But don’t, don’t let this opportunity go. The future will not be forgiving.

The reason most people fail instead of succeed, is they trade what they want most for what they want at the moment.

‘Cattle class’, ‘chaiwallah’, ‘neech’ and now, ‘beggars’, respect for common man not in Congress’ culture

0

The former Finance Minister P Chidambaram likened pakoda sellers to beggars in a tweet criticizing the government’s job creation record. He had been tweeting about various loopholes in the government’s claims of job creation. He said that it was not possible to create jobs with an investment of 43,000 loan obtained through Mudra scheme in a series of tweets.

The former finance minister was talking about his column where he sought to puncture the study on PF data which unravelled 70 lakh new jobs. A failed attempt in this endeavor was made by his colleague Jairam Ramesh before him. We had debunked Jairam Ramesh’s article earlier.

‘Cattle class’, ‘chaiwallah’, ‘neech’ and now, ‘beggars’

The Congress party has an inherent contempt for those who earn their livelihood with hardwork and effort. Unless the section of society belongs to certain ‘vote bank’, the party does not respect them or their labor. The trend was set by Shashi Tharoor when he claimed to be flying cattle class when he was flying economy class as a minister.

Later, Mani Shankar Aiyer said that Modi can’t be Prime Minister, but he can sell chai at AICC meet. Sadly for him, the “cattle class” elected Modi as PM. He called him ‘neech kisam ka aadmi’ in the runup to Gujarat polls. Congress lost in Gujarat state polls again. Now, Mr Chidambaram has joined the bandwagon which is essentially a part of Congress culture.

After all, how can parasites who feast on taxpayers money ever be grateful to the vegetable seller, barber, garbage collectors, security guards, newspaper-man, bus conductors, and other people who work for a living. A job is a job if the person gets paid for his work/product. Whether it is a high paying job or a low paying job is a debatable topic.

The Congress party has repeatedly claimed that it works for the common man. But, the question is how can it work for common people and poor if it does not respect them in the first place? We, as a society need to respect everyone no matter what job they do, or what social strata they belong to. It would be great if the Congress learns as soon as possible. Maybe Rahul Gandhi, who “wears a torn kurta”, can educate his senior ministers about dignity of labor.

Dear ‘liberals’, stop blaming Chandan for his own murder

0

On the 26th of January, as the nation united to celebrate the 69th Republic Day, in Kasganj, Uttar Pradesh, violence had resulted in the death of a 22 year old boy, Chandan Gupta, following an altercation between two communities during a Tiranga Yatra. Meanwhile, the Lakhimpur MLC from the Samajwadi Party has stated that the environment was vitiated by the Tiranga Yatra. And Hartosh Singh Bal, known critic of the Modi government and famed liberal, made an attempt to justify the heinous murder of the youth by claiming that “provocative slogans” were responsible for the violence that ensued.

And exactly what were the “provocative slogans” you may ask. Well, they were very provocative indeed. Slogans such as “Vande Mataram” and “Bharat Mata ki Jai” were deemed ‘provocative’ by eminent intellectuals and certainly, members of a ‘particular community’ were so provoked by the slogans that they could not stop themselves from committing murder. And contrary to claims, the deceased youth was not a part of any ‘rightwing’ organization. Some like Hartosh Singh Bal seem to suggest that it is justifiable to murder a person associated with any ‘rightwing’ organisation for raising slogans such as the ones that were raised. Such pitiable justifications that are given every single time a Hindu is murdered by members from the minority community or communists, suggests that they are more concerned with absolving one community, or one political ideology of all responsibility, than they are about condemning the actual murder.

Social media is flooded every single day with liberals proclaiming their profound allegiance towards freedom of expression and battering the ‘rightwing’ for their supposed aversion towards it, and yet, whenever the real hard questions about the issue arise, liberals do not make their decision on the basis of the unique virtues of the case at hand but on the basis of base tribal loyalties. Decisions to endorse or oppose are made on the basis of whether the ‘rightwing’ has the potential to benefit electorally from the issue and not on the basis of any principle. On the issue of Padmavat, they loudly support the filmmaker’s right to expression and yet, when a youth is murdered for slogans which proclaim loyalty to the Indian nation, they deem them provocative and attempt to justify the murder.

The murder of the 22-year old Chandan Gupta raises serious questions about the future of our republic. A section of the society, evidently, finds chants of “Vande Mataram” and “Bharat Mata ki Jai” so provocative that they are compelled to commit violence as a perceived act of retribution. And the bigger concern here is that the entire bunch of intellectuals and a massive chunk of the political spectrum are perfectly willing to encourage such tendencies and scuttle efforts at reforming their society because it benefits them politically. On the day that the nation celebrated the 69th anniversary of it becoming a republic, a youth was murdered for participating in a rally that named itself as a celebration of one of the most fundamental icons of a modern republic, its National Flag.

Perhaps the worse part is, such criminal behavior is justified by large sections of the elite and no concrete actions are ever taken towards resolving the core cause of conflict between the two communities. The intellectuals seem to have taken upon themselves the burden of justifying every atrocity of the minority community, and guilt trip the majority community for their mere existence. At this point, the intellectuals are just acting as a PR agency for the most regressive, most fundamentalist, most radicalized elements of the minority community and one has to admit, they are doing a fine job at it.

How is a Hindu ought to feel under such circumstances? One fine day, he walks out on the road and inevitably ends up saying something that provokes some members of the particular community, then even if he suffers the most atrocious of crimes for mere words, there is an entire bunch of eminent intellectuals who will then take it upon themselves to offer deplorable arguments to justify his murder and defend the beliefs that led to his murder from all critique. And a Hindu often finds himself wondering, if they are willing to kill me for saying Bharat Mata ki Jai, what else are they willing to kill me for?

Tolerance is a two way street and compromise is a mutual agreement. Intellectuals fail to understand that cohesion really is not possible when one particular community demands that all of its eccentricities be tolerated while it concedes to none of the demands of the other section of society. And the cause is not helped when the entire establishment decides to either turn a blind eye to such woeful conduct and pins the entire blame on the community that demands equitable codes of mutual existence. Few weeks later, Chandan Gupta will become just another statistic, just another name that is buried under the sands of time, but another blow to the unity and integrity of our republic has already been struck. It is not the sign of a healthy republic that a particular community that wields a disproportionate amount of political power is incited into a fit of murderous rage by slogans and rallies that cherish the fundamental icons of our republic. These are symptoms of a republic that is tottering towards an undignified termination of its existence.

The liberals ought to ponder, if Narendra Modi and every devout Hindu is to be blamed for the death of Pehlu Khan, then on the basis of the same logic, aren’t they to be blamed for the death of that young man? However, I am not as morally bankrupt as they seemingly are, therefore I shall not blame anyone apart from the murderers themselves for the crime that was committed. However, they certainly are guilty of a moral transgression of grave significance. They are guilty of providing a dubious justification for the murder of a young individual. How would the parents who were robbed of the light of their lives feel if they were told that their beloved son deserved death for chanting Bharat Mata ki Jai and Vande Mataram? Some issues should be politics neutral, the death of a young man is one such.

It is really understandable that liberals oppose and criticise the rightwing on every single issue at every single step. It is only natural. However, when you jump the gun from “Rightwingers are bigots who will destroy the nation” to justifying their murder for chanting Vande Mataram, it is probably time to take a break and contemplate on the thought processes that has gotten you there. Liberals and the Hindu Right could indeed resolve their conflict sometime in the future, chances are really slim but Leicester won the premier league in 2016, so miracles still do happen. But that reconciliation has to begin somewhere. How is reconciliation even possible when liberals seem to think Hindus deserve to die for words uttered?

Yogi Adityanath has a herculean task ahead of him. Thus far, 49 people have been arrested for the violence in Kasganj but situation remains tense. The family of the deceased was initially refusing to cremate their son, however, after Yogi Adityanath personally talked to them on the phone and assured them of justice and that not a single person responsible will be spared, the family has conducted the last rites of the youth.

The distraught mother has said :

“If saying Hindustan zindabad even after staying in the country is a crime, then shoot us too”.

Hear her wails of pain, dear liberals. Here the gut wrenching cries of this mother whose son is never coming back, whose murder, you seek to justify.

Allegations of ‘scam’ emerge against Congress’s ‘Indira canteen’ scheme in Karnataka

0

The Indira canteen scheme of the Congress Government led by Siddharamiah in Karnataka was launched with much fanfare in August 2017. It was modelled on the Amma Canteen of Tamil Nadu. The then Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi personally inaugurated the first Indira Canteen and ate a meal for the sake of a photo-op. While speaking at the event, he called the ‘Indira canteen’ as ‘Amma canteen’, throwing media and people into splits of laughter. Currently, the Indira canteen scheme has been launched in 198 wards of Bangalore. It is planned to be launched in every district in future.

Karnataka Labor Forum lodges complaint

The Karnataka Labor Forum lodged a complaint with the DCP of anti-corruption bureau regarding a scam in Indira Canteen’s management. Members of the labor forum claim that they are working in 100 Indira canteens of Bangalore. The Chief Minister, Bangalore in-charge minister KJ George and other officials were named in the complaint. The complaint is dated 3.01.2018.

The letter asked how could the government provide 150-200 meals and bill money for 400 to 500 meals. This number is to be accounted for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Thus, there could be a scam of 600-700 meals per day. Since the cost paid by the government for the meal is 32 rupees, the figure stands at a minimum of Rs 19200 per canteen everyday. The extent of scam and exact numbers are still unknown.

The allegations in the complaint have to be investigated and guilty should be punished in this case. The Congress party is well known for looting money in the name of poor. The fact that Congress is not in power in any major state other than Punjab should also be noted. Will Siddharamiah launch an investigation into the allegations or not ? We will have to wait and watch.

Kasganj murder of Chandan Gupta exposes Indian media’s double standards

0

One youth by the name of Chandan Gupta was killed and dozen others were reported as injured as communal clashes erupted over flag march in Kasganj, Uttar Pradesh. While reports over the details of the incident are contradictory, with both sides claiming their own version, the victim’s father claimed that his son was not involved in any political outfit, and both the parents claimed that their son was shot at since he refused to say “Pakistan Zindabad”.

Irrespective of the details of what led to the incident, some facts are clear : A Hindu boy was shot at and murdered, possibly by an irate Muslim mob. But Indian media, which is usually agile at picking up castes and religions, had turned “secular” for this incident.

Earlier last year, a muslim boy was killed on a train after an argument. Some in the media had claimed that the fight had started over suspicion of Junaid and his brother ‘carrying beef’ – even though neither the complainant in the written complaint nor the accused, who has confessed to his crime, talked about that being the trigger of the fatal fight. The breaking news coverage of that incident, by Hindustan Times and Firstpost was as below:

The religion of the victim was very openly declared by both the media houses. Cut to the murder at Kasganj of Chandan Gupta, and we see both these publications dropped the religion of the victim altogether:

No “Hindu boy” killed, instead we have “one dead” and “man killed” over “communal clashes”.

In 2014, another incident occurred when a Muslim techie was beaten to death allegedly by Hindutva activists over a morphed Facebook post. The news reports that time too did not fail in pointing out the religion, either of the victim or the perpetrators. The Hindu and The Indian Express had the following headlines:

The same publications went silent on the religion in Kasganj case:

Once again, the victim had no religion, and neither did the alleged criminals. The double standards are glaring.

Untold story : How hordes of Communists raped 2 million women in 6 months

I was much intrigued with this News18 story about Akshay Kumar getting “slammed” on Twitter for waving an ABVP flag during a promotion for his upcoming movie ‘Padman’.

Untitled

On clicking it, I realized that this supposed slamming was little more than a few tweets from left wing “activists” Kavita Krishnan and Shehla Rashid, recycling old smears about how ABVP/RSS/BJP/US/Israel/Zionists/whatever are anti-women.

Now, it never ceases to amaze me how Communists can claim to speak for any cause that furthers humanity, be it free speech or women’s rights, given that the Communists massacred hundreds of lakhs of people. But, even more than that, it amazes me how nobody calls them out on it.

So let me tell you a story that Shehla Rashid would never mention to you. If you will, tell this story to the next Communist you meet who claims to speak for the rights of women.

First of all, it is a fact rarely ever mentioned that when Hitler began World War 2 in Sept 1939 by invading Poland, he actually had some significant military help from a dear military ally. No, it wasn’t RSS. While Germany invaded Poland from the West, there was somebody who invaded Poland from the East. It was all happening as per a pact they had signed with Hitler to divide Europe into two parts, one to be ruled by themselves and the other to be ruled by Nazis.

Who were these enemies of humanity who allied with the Nazis?

It was the Communists. The Soviet Union. Under dear comrade Stalin whose decorated portrait is proudly placed in every CPI(M) office. Shehla Rashid, are you listening?

And yes, the Communists actively collaborated with the Nazis in their massacres. You can find in the Katyn forest on the borders of Russia and Belarus the mass graves of 22000 innocent Polish citizens executed by the Communists. And yes, the Communist secret police (called the NKVD) regularly coordinated with their Nazi brothers towards killing Jews.

Now, obviously Hitler wasn’t a nice guy, not someone who could be depended on to honor his commitments. And so it was that in summer of 1940, after the Nazi-Communist military alliance had conquered the continent of Europe, Hitler decided to betray his Communist friends and attacked Russia.

For this betrayal, the Communists naturally wanted revenge. Now just listen to how the Communists decided to take this revenge. By 1944, Nazi Germany was getting squeezed between American troops on the West and Communist troops in the East. By early 1945, the Communists were pouring in across Eastern Europe, crossing into Germany.

The time for the Communist revenge had arrived. You will never guess what these noble, free speech and feminist loving Communist liberators were going to do next.

Untitled.png

Dear Shehla Rashid, you must be so proud.

From the Guardian article:

““Red Army soldiers don’t believe in ‘individual liaisons’ with German women,” wrote the playwright Zakhar Agranenko in his diary when serving as an officer of marine infantry in East Prussia. “Nine, ten, twelve men at a time – they rape them on a collective basis.””

Did you hear that? Nine, ten, twelve Communists at a time would carry out gangrape of a woman.

And no, it wasn’t just German women who were raped. Polish women, Belorussian women, Ukrainian women and even Russian women were raped en masse in territories that the Communists were “liberating” from Nazi control. Read this:

“The novelist Vasily Grossman, a war correspondent attached to the invading Red Army, soon discovered that rape victims were not just Germans. Polish women also suffered. So did young Russian, Belorussian and Ukrainian women who had been sent back to Germany by the Wehrmacht for slave labour. “Liberated Soviet girls quite often complain that our soldiers rape them,” he noted. “One girl said to me in tears: ‘He was an old man, older than my father’.””

I do hope Kanhaiyya Kumar has something to say about this. Or do they not teach such inconvenient history at JNU?

However, as the initial thirst for “revenge” among the Communists began to subside after Jan/Feb 1945, their behavior did become a little more “humane” compared to earlier. How humane? Let’s find out:

“a pattern emerged of soldiers flashing torches in the faces of women huddled in the bunkers to choose their victims. This process of selection, as opposed to the indiscriminate violence shown earlier, indicates a definite change.”

Ah! The Communist soldiers were actually taking their time choosing their rape victims, as opposed to earlier when they would just indiscriminately rape everybody. I hope these reformed angels of humanity are given their due by history.

Listen to how German women were forced to live their lives:

“Women soon learned to disappear during the “hunting hours” of the evening. Young daughters were hidden in storage lofts for days on end. Mothers emerged into the street to fetch water only in the early morning when Soviet soldiers were sleeping off the alcohol from the night before. Sometimes the greatest danger came from one mother giving away the hiding place of other girls in a desperate bid to save her own daughter. Older Berliners still remember the screams every night. It was impossible not to hear them because all the windows had been blown in.”

So how many women were raped in all?

“Estimates of rape victims from the city’s two main hospitals ranged from 95,000 to 130,000. One doctor deduced that out of approximately 100,000 women raped in the city, some 10,000 died as a result, mostly from suicide. The death rate was thought to have been much higher among the 1.4 million estimated victims in East Prussia, Pomerania and Silesia. Altogether at least two million German women are thought to have been raped, and a substantial minority, if not a majority, appear to have suffered multiple rape.”

Two million. Remember that’s just the number of rape victims. A possible majority of these rape victims were raped multiple times, so the actual number of rapes would be much higher.

And today we have Communists teaching us about the rights of women! Imagine! And in all probability, you never heard this story before.

Everyone knows that history is written by the victors. And that Communists lost the battle with modernity (and humanity) decades ago. By this measure, one would think Communists would have nothing going for them when history is written. But one must remember that far away from the ruins of the Berlin wall, far from the overturned statues of Lenin across the length and breadth of the fallen Communist Empire, the halls of academia have produced a very different kind of victor.

This victor goes around carrying a cloth jhola instead of a gun, is easy to ignore because it feels non-threatening on an individual level. But like any household pest, it is actually a runaway victor in the game of evolution. And because it is these academic victors who get to write history, we end up consuming an infected version of the past. The real history is not that you heard, the real history is what they deliberately forgot to tell you.

How sexual predators camouflage and waltz around as ‘liberals’

0

I am often ‘branded’ on social media as ‘Bhakt’ and ‘Sanghi’, both terms used condescendingly in a derogatory way. Usually, the ones who brand me such identify themselves as ‘liberals’. A former JNU student (yes, one of the few who graduated on time), who identifies herself as feminist was upset at the idea of me taking my husband’s last name after my marriage. She believes it stems from centuries of oppression and patriarchy which I am trying to pass off as choice. While we don’t talk anymore (not surprised), she is regularly found on Twitter siding with the defenders of sexual abuse by the professor in her own alma mater.

It is very easy to spot such a ‘liberal’ They are the first to normalise any kind of sexual misconduct when the perpetrator is ‘one of their own’. We have seen this in many cases in recent past. In 2016, about four months after the accusations of molestation were put on Tarun Tejpal, by his colleague, columnist Malvika Sangghvi, in her column in Mid-Day defended Tejpal urging media persons who were voicing their views against Tejpal, to rethink their stand, since in the day and age of ‘rising intolerance’ a ‘liberal voice’ is the need of the hour.

She said the media campaign against Tejpal was relentless and ‘could be regarded as excessive’ and downplayed the molestation of a young girl by terming it as ‘grave error’. Tejpal should be pardoned because he was a ‘liberal’ voice. And then the deafening silence in the R K Pachauri, former chief of The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), who was also accused of sexually harassing a colleague.

But it seems the patron saints of consent when it comes to preaching believe that they themselves are so irresistible that there is no reason anyone would not say yes to them. After all, sometimes, even judges think that a ‘feeble no’ may actually not be a no.

And these men are the very darlings of the paragon of feminism. There are various incidents where the self proclaimed feminists who take to Twitter and Jantar Mantar or Parliament Street to speak up against sexual misconduct while themselves standing behind against rape accused. Ayesha Kidwai, a professor at the beacon of free speech, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), has allegedly threatened students and tried to protect Ashraf Alam, a JNU professor accused and found guilty of sexual molestation of a student in JNU, by indulging in victim shaming.

When the list of professors and eminent intellectuals surfaced accusing them of being sexual predators, taking advantage of the position of authority they are in, many such feminist voices, who otherwise believe in naming and shaming of alleged sexual predators, appealed against such public trial.

Most people in the list that was made public were professors of prominent universities in India and abroad, many of whom regularly socialise with the so-called liberals and voice their opinion on sexual harassment and importance of consent.

This makes me wonder why are people like this? Do they pretend to be ‘feminists’ and champions of women’s rights using it as a façade to shield their predatory behaviour? Could it be that they consider themselves superior than the otherwise conservative people and hence they overstep the boundaries, which they don’t essentially believe in, thinking they can’t be wrong?

Doesn’t this mean that their belief that they can never be wrong is more dangerous than actually being wrong. All the more baffling is the tribal mindset which is prevalent in the holier than thou ‘liberal feminists’ in their them against us which makes these otherwise vocal supporters of consent end up siding with their own. That would also explain the transgressions of such so-called feminist men.

Perhaps it is the conditioning or fear of being looked down or ridiculed by the the pretentious elites who masquerade as ‘intellectuals’ in the academia and media which makes people accept this as normal behaviour and hence they end up not calling it out.

Students accuse college principal of deliberately serving ‘beef cutlets’ to hurt religious sentiments

0

Students, who were attending a seminar in Kerala’s Cochin University College of Engineering, have accused the college administration of serving them beef cutlets while claiming that it was vegetarian in a bid to hurt their religious sentiments. They have written to district magistrate of Alappuzha complaining against the college principal.

As per reports, students in their letter state that this incident took place following suspension of a student after he held Saraswati Puja inside the campus without permission. The letter further states that the principal’s ego was hurt because of conducting the Saraswati Puja and hence he made a deliberate attempt to malign the dignity and hurt religious sentiments.

The incident reportedly took place on Thursday on sidelines of a seminar being held in the college. A student claims that when asked whether the snacks they were served vegetarian, they were told yes. However, when some Malayali students ate it, they pointed out that these were beef cutlets, by when some vegetarian students as well as those who eat non vegetarian but do not eat beef had already consumed the cutlets. This upset a lot of North Indian students there.

Meanwhile, the principal has claimed that the catering for the seminar was outsourced and students themselves were in charge of it.

Unprovoked stone pelting in Kashmir leads to firing and two civilian deaths, Omar Abdullah blamed Govt even before details emerged

0

The army was faced with unprovoked firing today. Report of one death came at 3:41PM. Later the figure was corrected as two deaths by ANI. Initial reports suggested that the firing and death was triggered by stone pelting. Further details were awaited.

However, Omar Abdullah jumped the gun and started criticizing the government for these deaths even before the full details were available. He got into a Twitter argument with JKPDP youth president Waheed Ur Rahman. The National Conference leader replied to Waheed

If this wasn’t a day when your Govt had shot two more youth I would have happily wasted my time with you but to do so today is an insult to them & to those they leave behind.

However the army clarified the reason for firing and death of the 2 youths later in the evening. The Defence PRO said that the convoy was attacked by 100-120 stone pelters and the crowd had grown to 200-250 people. The crowd tried to set the convoy on fire and therefore the army was constrained to open fire against the stone pelters in self defence. Seven army men suffered in the violence and two civilians had been killed in defensive fire.

This episode seems to point to the fact that Omar Abdullah has an inherent bias against the army. He has still not clarified his allegations against the state government. Will Omar Abdullah retract his statement and appeal to the youth of Kashmir not to indulge in violence? We need to wait and watch.

Kerala CM praises China and Cuba, accuses the centre of adopting American foreign policy against China

0

The Communist Party of India is well known for its pro-China stance. However, they have not changed their loyalties even after the Doklam standoff. After the Kerala state secretary of CPIM, Kodiyeri Balakrishnan had given pro-Chinese and anti-US statements, the Chief Minister of Kerala himself has joined the bandwagon.

BJP Thiruvananthapuram district president S Suresh had filed a case of sedition against Kodiyeri Balakrishnan for his remarks. The BJP complaint had suspected that the state secretary of CPIM had got some sort of help from China before he claimed that ‘India has joined league of capitalist countries had been mounting an attack on China.’

The Kerala CM said “In the indirect plots that the US has hatched against China , our country has now taken a pro-America stance and our foreign policy is shaped accordingly. India has adopted a foreign policy that is in line with US foreign policy and which is totally against China.”

The Chief minister made these remarks while inaugurating a delegates meeting at Kannur. In the same meeting he reportedly praised Cuba for its socialist policies and stiff resistance to Cuba. Prior to this the Kerala CM had also praised North Korea for its stiff resistance to USA.
