On Saturday (30th March), a man named Rehan Ahmed allegedly killed his girlfriend Farida Khatoon for turning down his marriage proposal. The 42-year-old victim died on the spot after accused Rehan stabbed her with a knife fifteen times in Bengaluru. Notably, accused Rehan Ahmed was born into a Hindu family but later converted to Islam in 2011 after studying in a Muslim organisational school.
The incident took place at Shalini Ground in Jayanagar V Block. Reports say that the deceased victim and the accused were in a relationship for more than a year. The victim, a mother of two daughters, hailed from Kolkata and was working at a unisex spa in Bengaluru for the last four years. The accused worked as a spare car driver. The duo first met in 2022 at a spa and eventually entered into a relationship.
Concerning the victim’s murder, the police stated that Farida Khatoon travelled to her hometown on March 6th and returned with one of her kids on March 28th. Rehan Ahmed celebrated his birthday on the same day. Khatoon and her daughter remained at an Oyo hotel room in Jayanagar, and Rehan joined them for a party. Later, he took them shopping and to lunch before returning to their rooms. After an hour, the duo went out.
At Shalini Ground, Rehan proposed to Farida Khatoon for marriage. However, when she denied his proposal, he allegedly attacked her with a knife stabbing her fifteen times resulting in her death between 7 pm and 7.30 pm. A tender coconut seller saw the victim lying in a pool of blood and subsequently called the police.
By the time the victim’s body was found, the 32-year-old accused had fled the spot. However, at around 8:30 pm on Saturday, the accused surrendered at the Jayanagar Police Station.
“We’re yet to recover the weapon used for the murder. He threw it before surrendering. He says he was asking her to quit work and marry him. But she refused. Also, she lied about the reason for going to Kolkata. She had gone there with a female friend,” TOI quoted a senior police official as saying.
Meanwhile, Shivaprakash Devaraju, DCP (South), said, “We’re also recording the statement of a few people who witnessed the murder, including a tender coconut seller.”
Reportedly, back in 2016, the accused Rehan Ahmed had reverted his name to Girish as it was getting difficult to find a suitable match for his sister, Rehan Ahmed did not leave Islam or revert to Hinduism.
Days after the tensions erupted in Kota’s Kaithun town after the Ram Baraat was attacked from behind when it passed the nearby mosque in Rajasthan, the Muslim community has come together demanding action against the ‘miscreants’ who allegedly disturbed the ongoing prayers in the Mosque.
The Muslims from Kota wrote to the Inspector-general of police in Rajasthan’s Kota demanding action against the anti-social elements responsible for creating a ruckus during the mosque prayers. The Muslims played victim insinuating that the Hindus allegedly disrupted peace during the ongoing prayers at the local Mosque on Friday (29th March). They attempted to justify the communal attack on the Hindu Ram Baraat, videos of which have been making rounds on social media.
On 29th March, tensions erupted in Kota’s Kaithun town after the Ram Baraat was attacked from behind when it passed the nearby mosque. The Hindu devotees who participated in the procession were assaulted and the miscreants vandalized the procession, cut the wiring of the DJ system, and broke a laptop.
As reported earlier, an altercation broke out when the Ram Baraat reached the mosque as the Muslim community tried to stop the DJ claiming that Friday Namaz was going on. However, the organizers of the procession stated that when the Ram Baraat reached there, Namaz was not going on in the mosque. Yet, they had stopped the DJ.
But, when it passed the mosque, it was attacked from behind, and stones were hurled at the Hindu devotees part of the procession. The miscreants also cut the DJ system’s wiring and broke the laptop used to play music over the DJ system.
Outraged by the incident, the Hindu devotees gathered outside the police station and accused several miscreants from the Muslim community of assault and vandalism. During this time, the police resorted to lathi charges to disperse the crowd and bring the situation under control.
Rural SP Karan Sharma said that a Ram Barat (procession) was being taken out in the town on Friday (29th March). It was passing in front of the Mosque. At the same time, Namaz started taking place in the mosque. Amidst this, a dispute broke out regarding the issue of stopping the DJ. Someone removed the DJ’s wires. After this, there was an altercation between both parties, leading to a tense situation in the town.
Notably, on 1st April, the Muslims from the town submitted a letter to the Police claiming that the Hindus deliberately took out the procession during the ongoing prayers. Ladpura head Naeemuddin Guddu said that there is a Madina Mosque in Kaithun. Namaz was taking place in the mosque on Friday afternoon. when the Hindu procession passed from in front of the mosque. “Some people from the Mosque must have objected to the procession given the loud noise of the DJ. But later there was a small scuffle that took place. A young man was beaten near the police station. This has happened for the first ever time in our locality. We demand that peace should prevail. People have been living together for years. Everyone should celebrate their festival in their way, celebrate it together,” Guddu said indirectly blaming Hindus for the altercation.
Kaithun Municipality President Aina Mehak meanwhile opined that whatever happened on 29th March was politically motivated. “I have been in the administration for the past 10 years now. I have never seen something like this happening. Legal action against all those involved should be taken.”
A case of religious conversion of a minor Hindu boy through allurement came to light from Greater Faridabad, Haryana on Sunday (31st March). According to reports, the accused doctor lured the victim for religious conversion by promising him 72 Hoors in Jannat (72 virgins in Heaven). Until 2023, the families of the victim and the accused lived in the same society, Omaxe Spa Society in Greater Faridabad, where the accused doctor brainwashed and converted the religion of the minor Hindu boy.
Based on the statements by the victim’s mother, a complaint has been lodged at BPTP police station against the accused Doctor and his Russian wife for brainwashing the minor student to do the religious conversion and read Kalma. As per reports, the accused doctor has been identified as Faizan Ahmed.
BEWARE: Do you know what your kids are upto on social media and in their company?
This conversion story will shock you!
Faridabad, Haryana: An Islamist doctor, who studied in Russia, brainwashed a minor Hindu boy named Anshul by luring him with the promise of 72 hoors in… pic.twitter.com/7woRUml85K
According to reports, the accused doctor used to pressurise the minor victim to observe Roza (fasting during Ramadan), and lured him to read Kalma by promising him 72 Hoors (72 virgins) in Jannat (Heaven).
When the family of the minor came to know about the religious conversion, they tried to convince the minor, but it did not seem to have any effect on him. Instead, he started fighting with the family. The victim is his parents’ only son.
The accused brainwashed the minor boy in 2023 when they lived in the same society, was still in touch with him
The mother of the victim stated that her son was around 17 years old in 2023. At that time, a doctor from the Muslim community and his Russian wife, living in Omaxe society, trapped their son. The Doctor made him recite Kalma in 2023, and said that now you have become a Muslim. The family also learned that the accused doctor and his wife had shown the minor the dream of going to Jannat and having 72 Hoors.
The minor’s maternal uncle said that he came to know about this when the minor wrote Muslim in the religion column of a form. He added that the accused doctor returned from Russia after completing his studies and he is also married to a Russian woman. According to him, the accused doctor is connected with the minor through Facebook.
According to the victim’s family members, the accused made their son associate with many radical organisations leading to several unexpected changes in his behaviour, because of which he is becoming dangerous. They added that they came to know about their son’s activities six months ago.
As per reports, in 2022-2023, the accused doctor had trapped the minor Hindu boy when he was around 16-17 years old. Back then, they lived in the same society. The accused frequently used to meet the victim at the gym where he indoctrinated him. It is said that the religious conversion of the minor boy happened after promising him 72 Hoors in Heaven.
However, in January 2023, the victim, along with his parents shifted to Gururgam. After passing 12th class exam, he is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s in Business Administration (BBA) from Dwarka in Delhi. However, according to the family, the accused was still in touch with the victim.
Consequently, on Sunday (31st March), the victim’s family members reached the society in Faridabad where they had earlier lived. After reaching the society, they confronted the family of the accused but did not get any satisfactory answer. They also learned that the accused doctor had gone out of the country. As per reports, the accused is currently in the United Kingdom.
After an altercation between the families of the victim and the accused, the residents of the society called the Dial-112 team to the spot. Afterwards, the victim’s mother and members of several Hindu organisations reached the police station to file a complaint in this matter. Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) functionary Pankaj Jain stated that the teenager has been so radicalised now that he can kill anyone.
The BPTP Police Station Incharge stated that the family of the woman who came to complain had earlier lived in Omaxe Spa Society. Her son was in contact with a family living in the same society. There was an altercation in the society regarding this matter on Sunday, March 31. The investigation in the matter is going on. Higher officials have been informed about the incident, and further action will be taken after investigation.
On Monday, 1st April, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, representing the Income Tax Department, informed the Supreme Court of India that the department would not take coercive action against the Congress party until the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections were over.
Furthermore, the SG pointed out that the total tax demand from the opposition party stands at Rs 3,567 crore. The matter has been listed for the next hearing on 24th July, over 1.5 months after the counting date of the General Elections, with counting scheduled for 4th June 2024.
Notably, a fresh notice by the IT department worth Rs 1,745 crore was sent to the Congress party on 30th March. A day before, on 29th March, the IT Department sent another notice of Rs 1,700 crore. The notices sent to the party were for the assessment years 1994-95 and 2014-15 to 2020-21. The total tax demand from Congress is Rs 3,567 crore. However, the department won’t take any coercive action against Congress till elections are over.
Speaking in court, SG Mehta said the impugned judgment was in 2016. Until the matter is heard, the department will not take any recovery steps as the elections are ongoing. He requested the court to set the date for the second week of June.
SG Tushar Mehta: Impugned judgment is of 2016. Till matter is heard, we will not take recovery/coercive steps as elections are going on. Please have the matter in second week of June#SupremeCourt#INC
Senior Advocate AM Singhvi, representing Congress in the court, argued it is a political party, not a profit-making organisation. He questioned the merits of the tax demands from Congress.
Justice Nagarathna, in her order, said, “Issues which arise in these appeals are yet to be adjudicated upon. But having regard… department does not wish to precipitate matter in as much as the no coercive steps shall be taken by department over demand of 3500 crores. Needless to observe, the aforesaid demand of 3500 crores approx. is not strictly relatable to the controversy in these appeals and they touch upon other demands which arise as against the appellant herein.”

The cash-strapped Congress is facing difficulties as the Income Tax Department has sent multiple notices asking the party for pending payments of over 3,500 crores. The notices were for the assessment years 1994–1995, and 2017–18 to 2020–21.
The sources revealed that “third-party entries” recorded in diaries, taken from some of the Congress’ leaders by investigation agencies during searches, have also been levied against the party. The main opposition party announced on 29th March that the IT department issued letters demanding payment of approximately Rs 1,823 crore. A tax claim for prior years has already resulted in the tax authorities taking out Rs 135 crore from the party’s coffers.
Additionally, the Congress party disclosed a total corpus of Rs 657 crore, net assets of around Rs 340 crore and cash equivalents of about Rs 388 crore for a total estimated value of Rs 1,430 crore in its most recent income tax return for AY 2023–2024. The move was prompted by the IT Department’s assertion that it found “incriminating material” during searches on two corporate entities in 2019, exposing financial payments of approximately Rs 520 crore to the Congress party.
According to the Income Tax Department, there are inconsistencies in Section 13 (A) of the Income Tax Act that prevent Congress from obtaining an exemption from paying income tax. Due to inaccuracies in IT reports for the assessment year 2018–19, the Income Tax Department has retrieved Rs 135 crore from bank accounts belonging to Congress.
A major controversy has erupted over a Muslim yoga teacher making allegedly obscene videos in the barb of yoga practice. Several videos of the yoga teacher Suhail Ansari have gone viral online, with netizens raising questions over the objectionable videos of Ansari teaching advanced yoga to his woman students. Amidst the outrage, Pandit Dheerendra Shastri of Bageshwar Dham has alleged that Suhail Ansari makes yoga videos with Hindu women and has got four Hindu women married to Muslim men.
“Such is the dirty politics of these anti-religious snakes in their sleeves. He traps young girls through yoga and makes them have affairs with Muslim boys and get their Nikah done with them. He has four Hindu daughters married to Muslim men. When such things happen in India, my blood boils,” Shastri said.
अब तो मेरी बात धीरेंद्र शास्त्री जी ने बोल दी
कि योग वाले सुहैल से ज्यादा गलती उन गुंडी लड़कियों और उनके बेगैरत मां बाप की है ?️
It is worth noting that, in addition to the video of Pandit Dhirendra Shastri of Bageshwar Dham, a video on the Suhail Ansari matter has been put out from the official account of the Bageshwar Dham government to raise awareness in this matter.
It is said in the video that Suhail Ansari teaches obscenity in Delhi’s Lodhi Garden rather than yoga. “We released a video two days ago requesting that these yoga lessons be discontinued. Following this, Suhail apologised.”
— Bageshwar Dham Sarkar (Official) (@bageshwardham) March 30, 2024
Notably, Sohail Ansari describes himself as a yoga teacher and posts such videos on Instagram. Initially, similar videos boosted his following, however, when his videos reached Hindu activists, they strongly objected to it. Following this, Ansari has apologised.
OpIndia checked Ansari’s Instagram profile and discovered multiple videos of him conducting “advanced yoga” with his female students that appear objectionable. Notably, the majority of his videos feature female students. Several people have questioned whether Ansari has taught yoga or obscenity in the name of yoga.
Suhail Ansari in his Instagram bio claims to be a Yoga Guru, International Yoga champion and an International Yoga teacher. Ansari has around 153,000 followers on Instagram. After the backlash, Ansari has deleted many videos from his account. Earlier there were 2704 posts from his Instagram page, however, as Ansari deleted several videos, the number of posts now stands at 2644.
Suhail Ansari’s Instagram profile
In an Instagram post on the 29th of March, Ansari expressed ‘remorse’ and stated that his purpose was not to offend anyone’s sentiments. He also stated that if anyone has an issue with any of his videos, he will delete them.
“I am an advanced Yoga teacher. I represented India in Common Wealth Games in 2010. In recent years I have won several gold medals at an international level. I have been teaching Yoga for the last fifteen years. I have a diploma as well as a master’s degree from Uttarakhand Sanskrit University Rishikesh. People come to me to learn advanced Yoga and most of them are Yoga teachers themselves…I am hurt after receiving some messages and threatening calls which indicated that some of my videos on social media have hurt their sentiments. My intentions are not to hurt anyone’s sentiments or feelings. I apologise from the bottom of my heart if I have hurt people’s sentiments. If any of my videos have hurt your sentiments, message me on Instagram and I will delete those videos,” Suhail Ansari said in his Instagram video.
Ansari, however, did not say anything about the allegation levelled by Bageshwar Dham’s Dheerendra Shastri regarding Ansari getting four Hindu women married to Muslim men.
Reacting to his video, many people asked Ansari why none of his videos feature any Hijab clad woman, raising questions if the advanced yoga teacher is deliberately targeting Hindu girls and women.
Ironically, Islamists who usually urge Muslims not to practice Yoga saying that it is “Shirk” (sin) and not allowed in Islam have no objection over Suhail Ansari being a Muslim yet teaching yoga.
It has been the norm for Islamic terrorists and Jihadis to assume and use Hindu names while carrying out terror attacks in India while targeting innocent individuals for their extremist cause. This was seen even in the 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attack, and again during the Mangaluru blast case. The same seems to have taken place in the recent ‘Rameshwaram Cafe Blast Case‘ in the city of Bengaluru, Karnataka.
It has come to the fore that one of the two primary accused Islamists involved in the case, identified as Abdul Mateen Ahmed Taahaa, 30 used Hindu identity to conceal his original identity before executing the attack. The NIA recently, on 29th March, released the faces of the accused who are absconding at present and stated that whoever would help in arresting the duo would be rewarded with Rs 10 lakh.
Meanwhile, the NIA also revealed that the primary accused person, Abdul Matheen Taahaa identified himself as a Hindu and introduced himself either as Vignesh or Sumit. However, the other accused Mussavir Hussain used a fake driving license in the name of Mohammed Juned Sayed.
Abdul Mateen Ahmed Taahaa, 30, and Mussavir Hussain Shazib, 30 (The Hindu)
According to NIA, both individuals chose to stay in men’s/boys hostels, paid guest lodgings, sharing accommodations, or low-cost hotels and lodges.
The two have reportedly been on the run since 2020 when they were identified as suspects in the Al Hind Module case, which was allegedly inspired by the Islamic State (IS) and intended to create an IS province by starting an insurgency in the forests of South India. However, the two have allegedly managed to elude the authorities.
Notably, Muzammil Shareef, the only person who has been detained in the Rameshwaram Cafe blast case, has been placed in seven-day custody by the NIA. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) said he “extended logistic support to the other two identified accused in the case.”
Muzammil Shareef is from Kalasa, Chikkamagaluru district, and his family lives in Dubai Nagar, Chikkamagaluru town. Shareef has been working in Bengaluru for 16 years, most recently at a chicken business in Basaveshwara Nagar. He is suspected of providing refuge to alleged bomber Mussavir Hussain Shazib in Bengaluru, assisting him in fleeing the city, and procuring certain raw materials for the Improvised Explosive Device (IED).
Accused Shariq involved in Mangaluru blast case identified himself as ‘Premraj’
The same modus operandi of assuming Hindu names was seen in the Mangaluru blast case that took place in the year 2022. As per the reports, the accused, identified as Shariq, who executed a low-intensity IED blast in an auto-rickshaw in Mangaluru City in November 2022, used a fake identity to portray himself as a Hindu. He used a stolen Aadhaar Card of a Hindu person and identified himself as Premraj, a resident of Hubballi, Karnataka.
Mangaluru blast case accused Shariq
The police then began an investigation into the case and reached the address mentioned on the Aadhaar Card. It was discovered later that Premraj had lost his Aadhaar card twice since 2020, but he never bothered to complain. The same identity card was then used by Shariq to get a small room on rent in Metagalli PS limits, Mysore. The property owner was then questioned and the place that was rented to the terrorist was investigated to recover materials used to prepare IEDs.
Ajmal Kasab was given fake ID card in the name of Samir Chaudhari
In the 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attack case, it had come to the fore that the terrorists involved in the terror attack were given fake Hindu identity cards to make the entire incident look like a ‘Hindu terror attack’. Pakistani terrorist Mohammed Ajmal Kasab was given the identity of ‘Samir Chaudhari’, a resident of Bengaluru with a kalawa tied around his wrist to portray the attack as a case of ‘Hindu terror’.
In his book, ‘Let Me Say It Now’, retired IPS officer Rakesh Maria, who as Mumbai Crime Branch-CID chief investigated the 26/11 terror attacks, exposed that the terrorists were provided with fake Hindu identities by secret agent David Coleman Headley, a Pakistani-American. “However, their plan did not succeed and the police nabbed Kasab, who hailed from Faridkot in Pakistan,” Maria stated in his book.
Kasab was given ID card of ‘Samir Chaudhari’
Congress soon came up with the ‘Hindu Terror’ theory shortly after 26/11
In 2010, shortly after the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack, Congress leader Digvijaya Singh, along with filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and others, launched a book that claimed that the Mumbai terror attacks were an RSS conspiracy. While the world was holding Pakistan responsible for 26/11, then Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh released the book “26/11 RSS Ki Saazish?” (26/11 – RSS Conspiracy?). The book was authored by Aziz Burney, Editor-in-Chief of the Urdu Sahara newspaper.
Further, Singh had alleged that Maharashtra ATS chief Hemant Karkare had called him two hours before the 26/11 attack in Mumbai to say that he was facing constant threats from those opposed to the ATS probe into the 2008 Malegaon blast in which Hindus were accused. Thus, Singh exonerated Pakistan and decided to push the blame for the 26/11 attack on RSS and Hindus.
The theory of ‘Hindu terror’ will never be swallowed
The Islamist terrorists and Jihadis are involved in anti-Hindu and anti-India activities, they deliberately target Hindu events and processions, attack Hindu individuals, target Hindu women, to create so-called Islamist supremacy in the country.
Recently, when India outlawed the Islamist terrorist organisation Popular Front of India (PFI), several of their hideouts were raided to recover incriminating anti-India documents, weapons, IED raw materials, etc. Some video files and pen drives were also recovered in which the Muslims of the country were being influenced to deliberately target Hindus, especially women.
The Islamists have never left a chance to defame and malign the Hindu community and Hindu organisations that work for the development of the country. Eventually, these are extensively supported by the ‘left-liberals’ who push their anti-India thought process. Several leftists like Arundhati Roy, Congress party leaders could be even seen siding with jihadis like Yasin Malik who made life horrible for Kashmiri Pandits in the valley.
The intention of all these has always been to belittle Hindus and target the community or frame it as an accused for every crime. However, the community has always come clean, given its truth, intention, and devotion to ‘Bhartiyatva’. The Hindus have time and again fought the anti-India, anti-Hindu thoughts, and the ‘left-liberal’ ideologies that tend to ruin the society and will continue to expose the Islamist jihadis and terrorists while on the way to form ‘Hindu Rashtra’, a country safe for Hindus.
Moreover, with the Indian people now favouring the Narendra Modi government, it is clear that the bulk of the country’s population will not swallow the thesis of ‘Hindu Terror’ anytime soon.
A Right to Information (RTI) reply has revealed that the Arvind Kejriwal-led-Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government misled the public about its ‘Delhi Arogya Kosh’ (DAK) scheme.
The RTI query was filed by activist Vivek Pandey in March this year wherein he sought information about the number of patients who received free treatment under the DAK scheme between 2018 and 2024 and the subsequent costs borne by the Delhi government.
On 11th March this year, the RTI revealed that a total of 6,099 patients availed of free treatment under the ‘Delhi Arogya Kosh’ (DAK) scheme between 31st March 2018 to 24th January 2024.
Screengrab of the RTI reply received by Vivek Pandey
According to the Directorate General of Health Services, 887 patients (2018-2019), 863 patients (2019-2020), 801 patients (2020-2021), 1084 patients (2021-2022), 1295 patients (2022-2023), and 1169 patients (2023-2024) patients were benefitted from this scheme.
The total number of patients thus comes to about 6099 in the past 6 years. The RTI reply also provided a breakdown of costs incurred by the Delhi government to facilitate the free treatment of 6099 people.
The AAP government has spent a total of ~ ₹66 crores in this process. A total of ₹9.65 crores (2018-2019), ₹8.33 crores (2019-2020), ₹8.63 crores (2020-2021), ₹6.44 crores (2021-2022), ₹11.36 crores (2021-2022), ₹11.92 crores (2022-2023) and ₹10.2 crores (2023-2024) were incurred by the Delhi government under the Delhi Arogya Kosh’ (DAK) scheme.
Screebgrab of the news report by The Indian Express
Interestingly, a report published by The Indian Express on 1st January this year claimed that 1,13,693 people benefitted from the scheme between January and October 2023. It also said that 1,27,785 patients availed of free treatment under DAK in 2022-2023.
The report was based on data sourced from the Delhi government, which stands in complete contrast to the data provided by the Directorate General of Health Services in its RTI reply to Vivek Pandey.
As per the RTI, only 6099 patients have availed of free treatment so far in the past 6 years, which is nowhere close to the 1 lakh figure quoted in The Indian Express report.
It is however interesting to note that the figure of 1295 patients quoted in the RTI reply for 2022-2023 matches with the number of EWS patients who got free financial assistance for the same period (as stated in The Indian Express report). However, it must be made clear that the RTI query made no mention of EWS.
Screengrab of the RTI query
“Please provide the details of total number of patients got free treatment under Delhi Arogya Kosh scheme in between year 2018 to January 2024. (Please provide year wise list),” the RTI query by Vivek Pandey read.
It thus remains unknown how such a large discrepancy exists between the data furnished by the Delhi government in its RTI reply and the data sourced from the Delhi government by The Indian Express.
Interestingly, Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia claimed in September 2022 that over 4.3 lakh patients received free healthcare facilities under the Delhi Arogya Kosh scheme in the past 5 years (2017-2022).
Screengrab of the report by The Times of India
While the RTI reply received by Vivek Pandey did not have data from 2017, it is safe to conclude that the beneficiaries in the 1000s would not have reached a staggering 4.3 lakh in a span of a year.
Manish Sisodia had also claimed that the Delhi government spent ₹168.4 crores under the Delhi Arogya Kosh scheme in the past 5 years (2017-2022). However, data provided by the Directorate General of Health Services in the RTI reply for the period 2018-2024 showed a mere expenditure of ₹66 crores.
Even if we account for the missing data of 2017, the Delhi government is yet to explain the missing trail of a whopping ₹100 crores.
? Shocking Revelation, My RTI exposes Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal misleading claims on Delhi Arogya Kosh scheme
The Arvind Kejriwal-led- AAP government must come clean on the discrepancies in data surrounding the Delhi Arogya Scheme, which came into force in 2011.
Delhi govt yet to pay compensation to families of 79 cops who died on Covid duty: RTI
OpIndia has recently reported how an RTI reply revealed that Arvind Kejriwal led-AAP government in Delhi did not pay ₹1 crore compensation to the families of 79 police officials who died in line of COVID-19 duty between 2020-2021.
It must be mentioned that in 2020, the Kejriwal government had announced to compensate the families of healthcare workers, who died in the line of COVID-19 duty., to the tune of ₹1 crore. Later, the Delhi CM expanded the list of beneficiaries to include civil defence personnel, teachers, policemen and firemen.
While arguing before the Delhi High Court, the government had acknowledged that only families of 92 Covid Warriors had been compensated until then. It had even tried to insinuate that the 79 deceased police officials somehow did not die due to COVID-19 duty.
OpIndia had reported in January 2021 how the family of deceased Delhi police constable, Amit Kumar, was not paid any compensation despite the assurance of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in May 2020.
In November 2023, the Delhi High Court directed the AAP government to release ₹1 crore for the kin of the Covid Warrior.
Given that it took more than 3 years for the family of Amit Kumar to receive compensation, it needs to be seen when the Delhi government live upto its promises in case of 79 other police officials who died in line of Covid duty.
The Election Commission has served a notice to the organiser of an Iftar party for holding it on a busy road in Mangaluru, Karnataka on Friday (29th March). As per reports, the poll body has issued the notice to the organiser, identified as Abu Bakar, for causing a public nuisance by blocking the road for holding the iftar party.
The development comes after videos of the incident went viral on social media. In these viral videos capturing the incident, one can observe rows of chairs arranged and food plates placed along one side of the road in the busy Mudipu Junction area during Ramadan. The logistical arrangement led to a road blockage and inconvenience to the commuters.
No, this is not Pakistan or any other Islamic dominance country.

That’s free bus ticket, free electricity side effects for you. Soon it will be a Non Hindu state too.

— DrVinushaReddy(Modi ka Pariwar) (@vinushareddyb) March 30, 2024
After the videos went viral, netizens raised questions as to why the Iftar party was held on a busy road instead of an indoor venue or at a designated public hall. Several netizens also slammed the state government for not taking stern action against the event organisers and clearing the road for traffic movement. They also charged the Congress government of practising appeasement politics through such developments.
For those unversed, Muslims break their fast during Ramadan after sunset with an Iftar meal. The Iftar Party in the Mudipu junction area was attended by rickshaw drivers, traders, and locals of the area, sparking outrage for causing a public nuisance by blocking the road.
After public outrage, the Election Commission issued the notice to the organiser, Abu Bakar in light of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) enforced in Karnataka following the announcement of the Lok Sabha polls schedule.
Notably, during the MCC period, the administration comes directly under the control of the Election Commission, enabling it to take action to address concerns related to public gatherings and events.
While the election across the nation will be held in 7 phases from 19th April to 1st June, voting in Karnataka will take place in two phases on 26th April and 7th May.
On 31st March, Jayaprakash, the father of JS Sidharthan, made serious allegations against the Kerala government in connection to his son’s death and said if no action is taken, he will protest outside Cliff house (Kerala CM residence) along with his wife once her health condition improves. He added that the protest would not be against delay in the CBI investigation but an attempt to sabotage the probe.
Sidharthan was a student of Government Veterinary College, Pookkode in the state. According to police, he was found hanging in his hostel room on February 18. He died as a result of ragging at the college.
Speaking to the media, the deceased student’s father Jayaprakash accused Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and the state government of sabotaging the investigation. He also questioned why the request for CBI inquiry was sent by the State Home Ministry to CBI Kochi and not to the Union Home Ministry.
In his statement, he accused the state government and police of sabotaging important information that was supposed to be given to the Central Bureau of Investigation that took over the case. He added that no action was taken based on the anti-ragging committee report. Furthermore, he questioned why one of the accused, Akshay, was not arrested.
Jayaprakash said SFI leader PM Arsho visited the college regularly. He questioned why he did not take any action, though he was aware of the physical assault on Sidharthan. He demanded that Arsho and the girl who filed a complaint against JS Sidharthan should be taken into custody for questioning.
He said, “Why did Arsho ignore the assault that had been happening for eight months?” Speaking on the exclusion of Akshay, he alleged that former minister MM Mani was protecting the accused.
He said, “Others who were involved were included in the case, but why not Akshay?” He also questioned not including Dean as he was suspended, indicating he was at fault. Jayaprakash said, “He has been suspended, so why not include him in the case?”
He added, “It has been 41 days since Sidharthan passed away. Today, during the rites, Sheeba, Sidharthan’s mother, collapsed; her health is falling.”
JS Sidharthan found hanging in hostel after torture by SFI members
On 18th February, 20-year-old JS Sidharthan (or Sidharth) was found dead in the KVASU hostel. Several SFI members are accused of torturing the student for days, leading to the suicide.
Sidharthan’s death sparked an outrage in the state following which Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan suspended Professor (Dr) MR Saseendranath, the vice-chancellor of the Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University. Moreover, 31 university students were also suspended on the recommendation of the anti-ragging committee for connections with the case.
Most members are members of the Students Federation of India (SFI), a student group affiliated with the Communist Party of India (Marxist). A total of 11 accused have been arrested so far, and 4 of them are leaders of the SFI.
Notably, JS Sidharthan’s body was found hanging in a toilet of the college hostel in the afternoon. His post-mortem report carried many revelations including that he suffered a severe beating before death. Furthermore, his stomach was empty and there were wounds on his body. He sustained head, jaw and back injuries.
Afterwards, the police registered a case of unnatural death in this case. Twelve students comprising left-wing student leaders were also suspended from the college after its anti-ragging committee found the victim was brutally beaten up by fellow students days before his death. The arrested individuals are not among the suspended students who are evading capture. According to Sidharth’s father, left-wing students regularly tortured his son. The suspended SFI leaders and members include the college union president, a union member, and the SFI unit secretary.
On 9th March, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan ordered a CBI inquiry into the case. Opposition parties and the father of the student had blamed the SFI for the death of the student.
Trouble could be mounting for Delhi Minister Atishi Marlena after Arvind Kejriwal reportedly named her in the Delhi Liquor policy scam. Additional Solicitor General (ASG) SV Raju, appearing for ED, quoted Kejriwal stating that the controversial middleman Vijay Nair reported to Atishi Marlena, not him.
“Arvind Kejriwal’s conduct has been totally non-cooperative and he has tried to mislead the interrogation. He said Vijay Nair does not report to me but to Atishi. Kejriwal is not sharing the password for his phone,” ASG Raju submitted in the court.
ASG: He said Vijay Nair does not report to me but to Atishi.
Delhi Court remands Arvind Kejriwal to 15 days in judicial custody
Delhi Court has accepted the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) argument and sent Arvind Kejriwal to Judicial custody till the 15th of April in the Delhi Liquor Scam case. The CM was produced in Rouse Avenue Court as his custody ended on Monday. Arvind Kejriwal was arrested on the 21st of March 2024 in connection with the liquor scam case.
When Kejriwal was produced in court, he indulged in the usual theatrics and said “Pradhan Mantri ji jo ye kar rahe Hain wo Desh ke liye acha nahi Hain.”
Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal was arrested on 21st March by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the now-defunct Delhi Liquor Policy. The trial court remanded Kejriwal to ED detention until 28th March.
Allegations against Vijay Nair and his association with the Aam Aadmi Party
In 2022, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested Vijay Nair, one of the accused in the Delhi Excise Policy 2021-2022 case. Vijay Nair, a close aide of Delhi Dy CM Manish Sisodia, was one of the 15 people who were named in the FIR filed by the CBI in connection with the allegations of corruption against Manish Sisodia and other AAP leaders in connection to the Delhi liquor scam.
The FIR filed by CBI in the liquor scam stated that Nair was “actively involved in irregularities in framing and implementation of the excise policy of GNCTD of Delhi for the year 2021-22.”
Vijay Nair was the former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of a Mumbai-based entertainment and event management company named Only Much Louder (OML). He worked as a ‘part-time volunteer’ of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), in the run-up to the 2020 Delhi State Legislative Assembly polls. During his stint with the Arvind Kejriwal-led party, he helped organise party events and manage social media handles.
AAP MLA Atishi Marlena told Caravan that Nair was an ‘ad-hoc worker’, a claim denied by the party’s national council member Ankit Lal. He pointed out that the ex-OML CEO has been associated with AAP for over 5-6 years. Lal stated that Nair is his go-to person for strategising digital campaigns.
A news report published in The Times of India shows that Vijay Nair has been with the Aam Aadmi Party since January 2014.’Even before being personally benefitted by the association, the ex-OML CEO had confessed to donating to the AAP. As such, it came as a surprise when Atishi Marlena introduced Vijay Nair as an ‘Adhoc worker’, who was not in a position of power.
