Pakistan: Another Hindu girl abducted in Sindh, community members protest, demand action

0

Amidst growing outrage, members of the Hindu community and traders in Dera Murad Jamali took to the streets to condemn the recent abduction of a young girl, Priya Kumari, and demanded urgent action for her recovery, Dawn reported.

Criticising the Sindh government’s perceived incompetence, protesters voiced their frustration over the failure to locate and rescue Kumari, who was abducted from Sukkur just days ago.

Showing placards, demonstrators vehemently denounced what they described as the routine abduction of innocent children in Sindh and highlighted the deteriorating security conditions for religious minorities, as reported by Dawn.

Led by senior Hindu community figures Mukhi Manak Lal and Seth Tara Chand, the rally drew participants from various sectors of society.

Notable attendees included Taj Baloch, representing traders, Liaqat Ali Chakar from JI’s youth wing, Mir Jan Mengal, president of the wholesale market, Molana Nawabuddin Domki, Khan Jan Bangulazi, and Harpal Das.

The leaders urged Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah to take immediate and decisive action to ensure the safe return of the girl and to deliver justice to the minority community. They issued a stern warning of nationwide protests if their demands go unheeded.

Human Rights Focus Pakistan (HRFP) has also strongly condemned the religious persecutions of minorities in Pakistan and urged the next government to bring legislation of equal status for all communities.

HRFP has highlighted that many people from Christians, Hindus, Ahmdiyya’s, Sikhs and other communities have been victimised in different attacks during the last few months.

Human Right Focus Pakistan (HRFP) is a non-government organisation (NGO) established in 1994 to work for the promotion and protection of human rights, with special focus to religious minorities, women and children

“The newly elected representatives and the government must make legislation for equal status of all citizens as per founder of Pakistan, Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s vision and thoughts,” it stated.

“The recent cases are addition to suffering, and the growing numbers has made minorities more vulnerable,” HRFP added.

Naveed Walter, the President of Human Rights Focus Pakistan (HRFP) said that even in the short duration of the year so far, several alarming incidents have been reported.

Massive crackdown on cyber crime in Mewat: Nuh Police arrests 42 cyber criminals; 50 mobile phones, over 90 SIM cards and fake Aadhar IDs seized

In a major crackdown against cyber crime, the Nuh police arrested 42 cyber criminals from various parts of Nuh, Mewat in two days concerning several cyber fraud cases registered nationwide. The arrested accused include Deen Mohammad, Asif, Arif, Sarfaraz, Saqib, Ijaz, and Munajir among others.

During the operation, a total of 50 cellphones, fake Aadhar cards, over 90 SIM cards procured with forged documents, cash, and several ATM cards were seized from the possession of the arrested accused. This is the biggest crackdown on cyber criminals since April last year. Back then, the police had arrested 66 cyber criminals from 14 villages in an operation which included around 5,000 cops.

Taking to X, the Nuh Police also shared the details of the arrest and seizures in this special operation.

The special operation began on Saturday and continued till late Sunday evening.

According to officials, the arrests have been carried out with the help of the Pratibimb portal of the Union Home Ministry’s Integrated Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (i4C). The portal was launched this year. It plots the SIM and IMEI of the suspected fraudsters on a real-time basis, enabling law-enforcement agencies to identify and locate the suspects.

State police chief Shatrujeet Kapur said that Pratibimb gave the cops information about the location of 594 cyber frauds from across the state. Out of these individuals, 101 (18%) were located in the vicinity of Nuh and the neighbouring town of Alwar in Rajasthan. The real-time location data of the suspects along with their phone numbers were shared with the local police and the cyber crime coordination center located in Panchkula.

Kapur added, “Multiple SIM cards and forged Aadhaar cards were recovered from them. Their details will be matched with data stored with I4C to find out how many cases they were involved in.”

The accused used varied Modus operandi including bogus ads, sextortion, fake job offers

The spokesperson for Nuh police, Kishan Kumar said that the youths targeted people with a varied modus operandi, such as morphing images taken during video calls or putting up bogus ads.

He added, “Some of them were involved in sextortion, while others lured people to invest in sham schemes with the promise of lucrative returns. Some even reached out to their targets with fake ads on social media that offered to sell cows or work from home jobs.”

As per reports, the Police have filed over 18 cases against the arrested accused under IPC sections 419, 420, 467, 468, and 471.

SHO of the Cyber Crime police station, Inspector Vimal Rai stated that all police station managers/officers, CI units/staff, and separate teams of Nuh Cyber Police, including Cyber Cell Nuh, raided the locations of cyber criminals and apprehended them.

The Police have asserted that this campaign will continue in order to apprehend more criminals. Superintendent of Police, Nuh, Narendra Bijarnia, issued a stern warning to cyber criminals. He urged cyber criminals to cease cyber crime adding that if they fail to heed to the Police warning, “Nuh Police will deal with them rigorously”.

Over the years, Nuh had earned the notoriety as ‘new Jamtara’, a reference to the small Jharkhand town which became the epicentre of online frauds.

Last year in November, the Nuh Police’s Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) team busted a sextortion racket in Nuh and arrested 6 accused identified as Mastan, Ibram alias Imran, Moin son of Nasubat, Shamshuddin son of Jamil, Irfan son of Sheru, and Shahid son of Khurshid.

Further, Opindia had earlier reported that an Islamist mob broke inside the cyber police station in Nuh on July 31, 2023, using a hijacked bus during the Nuh violence. In a targeted attack, the violent mob ransacked and vandalised everything in sight with the ulterior motive of destroying crucial evidence. The Islamists also attempted to burn documents and set the police station on fire.

Later, on 5th August, the police informed that the attack on a cyber police station in the Nuh district of Haryana was pre-planned and aimed at destroying evidence of cyber fraud collected by the cops.

Explainer: How ‘unaccounted transactions’ and violations led the IT Department to send notices of demands worth Rs 3,567 crores from Congress

On Monday (1st April), Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, representing the Income Tax (IT) Department, gave an undertaking before the Supreme Court of India that the department would not take coercive action against the Congress party until the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections were over.

Notably, the IT department has sent multiple notices to the Congress party, raising demands for outstanding payments totalling over Rs 3,500 crores. Incidentally, the tax notices sent to the party on March 29th were for the assessment years (AY) 1994-95 and 2014-15 to 2020-21, amounting to Rs 1,823 crores.

Later, on March 31st, the IT department issued fresh tax notices to Congress, demanding payments for AY 2014-15 (Rs 663 crores), 2015-16 (Rs 664 crores), and 2016-17 (Rs 417 crores). This brings the total outstanding tax demands from Congress to Rs 3,567 crores. The development came after the High Court had rejected multiple pleas of the Congress party that had challenged the IT department’s reassessment proceedings against it for several assessment years, earlier in March, this year.

The Income-tax reassessment proceedings include penalties, interests, and ‘unaccounted cash/transactions’ relating to Congress party unearthed during recent raids

According to reports, the Income Tax department initiated reassessment proceedings for earlier assessment years after discovering discrepancies in the Congress party’s tax returns. The department found ‘unaccounted’ transactions during its searches, indicating that the party’s total taxable income for certain earlier assessment years was higher than reported, leading to tax liability on undisclosed income.

Furthermore, the party faced penalties for various violations, resulting in disqualification from tax exemptions available to political parties under Section 13(A). The total outstanding demands also include interest on pending tax dues.

For those unversed, Section 13(A) is the provision that outlines the conditions under which a political party can be exempted from paying taxes on certain types of income. Example – Income from certain sources like house property, other sources, or capital gains, as well as voluntary contributions received from individuals, are not considered as part of the political party’s total income.

However, a political party has to follow certain criteria to avail of the tax exemption. According to Indian Kanoon, certain conditions include –

  1. the political party must maintain proper books of account and documents to allow the tax authority to accurately determine its income.
  2. For voluntary contributions exceeding Rs. 20,000, the party must keep records of the contribution along with the donor’s name and address.
  3. Donations exceeding Rs. 2,000 should be received only through specific banking methods, such as account payee cheques, bank drafts, or electronic clearing systems.
  4. If the treasurer or authorised person fails to submit a report under the Representation of the People Act, the exemption won’t be available for that financial year.
  5. The political party must file a return of income for the previous year within the prescribed deadline.

As per reports, in some assessment years like in AY 2018-19, the Congress party failed to file the return by the deadline while in some years it was found in violation of other criteria like ‘unaccounted income’, taking donations in cash over and above the prescribed norms.

High Court took notice of unaccounted transactions

Evidently, these recent tax notices to the Congress party relate to the I-T department’s raids conducted before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections where it traced “unaccounted transactions” of Rs 523.87 crore

The grand old party has been taxed for these “unaccounted transactions” relating to the Congress party. These unaccounted transactions were revealed in diaries that were seized from some of its leaders by probe agencies during raids, media reports added.

Conspicuously, the IT department revealed that during its searches on entities, including some of which were purportedly linked to Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar and a company in Surat, it had uncovered cash transactions involving the Congress party.

In March, while dismissing the pleas of the Congress party, the High Court stated that the tax authority had prima facie gathered “substantial and concrete” evidence warranting further scrutiny. The development unfolded after the tax department revealed that approximately Rs 520 crore had evaded assessment during these three years.

During the raids in MP, Gujarat, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh, the probing agencies found evidence of widespread use of cash receipts and payments. Additionally, they also found multiple sets of documents and electronic evidence that the I-T authorities have relied upon during the reassessment proceedings.

A source said, “In one of the cases, the department had information of cash being present in a location, which was found to be true as Rs 10 crore was recovered.”

The Congress party was disqualified from tax exemption available to political parties as these transactions were found to be in violation of the law.

Notably, without exemption, parties are regarded as “associations of persons” and are required to pay taxes on their reported income. Additionally, cash transactions are also included in their total income, leading to a higher taxable income and tax demand by the IT department.

As per reports citing sources, the authorities have ended the tax exemption available to political parties under Section 13 (A) of the IT Tax Act 1961 and have taxed the Congress party for the entire sum. The notice also included penalty and interest.

Furthermore, according to reports, in 2018-19, the Congress party had failed to file the return by the extended deadline of Dec 2018. The tax department had also stated that there were cash donations of over Rs 2,000, which were not permitted under law.

Congress claims ‘unaccounted transactions’ are ‘third-party transactions’, not liable to tax; no relief from ITAT to Supreme Court

Demanding exemptions from tax payment, Congress has argued that the “unaccounted transactions” are “third-party transactions”. They have claimed that the Supreme Court had previously rejected the admissibility of “third-party Excel sheets or entries” as invalid evidence.

Congress’ Rajya Sabha MP and lawyer Vivek Tankha, who handles the party’s tax litigation, lamented, “In the present case, all such suspicious and strange entries have been accepted as gospel truth while reopening or re-assessing Congress I-T returns,” alleging it to be a travesty of justice and misuse of authorities.

However, the grand old party had failed to get relief from the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT), the Delhi High Court, and the Supreme Court.

Incidentally, in March this year, the Congress party lost its appeal before the Income-Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT) where it had sought a stay on the withdrawal of Rs 135 crore from its bank accounts. Later the Delhi High Court had rejected their pleas for tax reassessment for four years.

On 28th March, the Delhi High Court rejected four fresh petitions filed by the Congress party challenging the Income Tax reassessment proceedings initiated against the party.

Rejecting the plea, the Delhi High Court stated that the pleas were rejected following their earlier decision to abstain from intervening in the reopening of reassessment for an additional year. The subject matter of the case pertained to AY from 2017 to 2021.

A week earlier, it had dismissed the petition where the grand old party had contested tax reassessment proceedings for AY 2014-15 to 2016-17.

Meanwhile, Congress has filed a plea in the Supreme Court seeking to club the recent recovery of Rs 135 crores by the IT department for the last AY with an earlier special leave petition filed in 2016. The earlier petition relates to a 1994-95 case in which the department recently raised a Rs 53 crore demand. However, the I-T dept has been contesting the clubbing of the cases arguing that the two are separate cases.

After Congress cried foul over recent Income tax notices, the SG Tushar Mehta submitted that the IT department won’t take coercive action until July in the wake of Lok Sabha elections. However, the Supreme Court bench recorded that the demand of approx. Rs 3,500 crores is not strictly relatable to the controversy in these appeals.

In the previous special leave petition (SLP) submitted to the Supreme Court, the initial demand amounted to approximately Rs 26 crore. This figure was later reduced to Rs 11-12 crore during the appeals process. However, with the addition of interest, the amount has now surpassed Rs 50 crore. The demand for the assessment year 1994-95 was raised as the exemption available to political parties under Section 13(A) of the Income Tax Act had been cancelled by the department.

While the recent submission by the IT department may provide temporary relief for the Congress party, it merely postpones the issue until July instead of addressing Congress’ request to exclude the ‘unaccounted cash’ from taxable income. If the tribunal/courts find that Congress violated tax exemptions under Section 13(A) and included ‘unaccounted transactions’ in the party’s taxable income, Congress would be required to pay the outstanding tax demands. However, Congress could then potentially seek tax settlement and negotiation with the ITAT to reduce penalties and interest payments.

Gangster Mukhtar Ansari dies of cardiac arrest

Gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari died on Thursday, 28th March, after his health deteriorated in jail. Ansari was shifted to Banda Medical College Hospital in Banda after he complained about pain in the abdomen. As per the hospital, Ansari died during treatment after suffering a heart attack.

He was admitted to the ICU after the hospitalisation. However, as his condition deteriorated, he was shifted to CCU. The hospital said that a team of 9 doctors were attending him. However, Mukhtar Ansari died during the treatment in hospital.

According to a bulletin issued by the Rani Durgavati Medical College, 63-year-old Ansari was brought to the hospital by jail authorities and admitted to the emergency department after he had complained of vomiting. ‘Burn Indian sarees of your wives first’: Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina blasts BNP over ‘Boycott India’ campaign

Opposition leaders in Bangladesh were attempting to inflame anti-India sentiment. Their campaign gained traction after Sheikh Hasina, who has close connections with India, won a fourth term. Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina now has launched a full-fledged attack on the opposition’s ‘Boycott India’ campaign after being silent for months. Hasina, who adores the sari and is often seen wearing it, has advised BNP leaders to burn their wives’ Indian sarees before running a ‘Boycott India’ campaign.

Opponents of Hasina and her Awami League party have tried to label her as “pro-India” and claim that India helped her win the January elections. They launched a campaign calling on Bangladeshis to boycott Indian products.

After sitting mute for months as the matter simmered, Hasina lashed out at leaders of Bangladesh’s largest opposition party, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), and flipped the script on the ‘Boycott India campaign’. Hasina, who took office following an overwhelming victory in the January elections that the BNP boycotted, used the ‘modest sari’ to correct BNP officials who had been supporting a ‘boycott Indian items’ campaign on social media.

Sheikh Hasina has referred to India as a “great friend” in several situations. “How many Indian saris do their (BNP leaders) wives have?” Hasina inquired last week. “BNP leaders are calling for a boycott of Indian products. Why are they not taking away the sarees of their wives?” Hasina inquired, eliciting a few chuckles at the Awami League office in Dhaka.

Hasina, who is known for her love of saris and giving them to Indian leaders, then proposed a sari test for the opposition leaders.

“When they burn their wives’ Indian saris in front of their party office, only then will it be proven that they are truly committed to boycotting Indian products,” she declared as she launched the sari attack. The Bangladeshi Prime Minister accused BNP leaders and their wives of buying saris from India and selling them in Bangladesh, in addition to the sari test.

“When the BNP was in power, I witnessed wives of its leaders flying to India in parties to purchase Indian saris. They would sell the saris in Bangladesh,” claimed Hasina.

Sheikh Hasina was not merely referring to the Indian Sari. She also threw a handful of “Indian spices” into the saucepan. “I’ve got one more question. We import ‘garam masala’, onion, garlic, ginger, and other products from India. Why don’t the BNP leaders cook without Indian spices?” she said. On March 27, Skeikh Hasinsa stated that they must cook and consume meals that do not contain these spices.

“They must answer if they will be able to eat the food without the spices, they will have to answer that,” she went on to say.

The ‘Boycott India’ movement sparked widespread internet outrage, equivalent to the ‘India Out’ campaign in the Maldives. Following Hasina’s election, there were reports of some level of resistance to Indian goods and commodities in February.

Dhaka marketplaces, which are typically stocked with Indian merchandise, refused to accept new delivery. Sales of Indian products such as cooking oil, processed foods, toiletries, cosmetics, and clothes decreased. According to reports, an online campaign spearheaded mostly by the Bangladeshi diaspora and those in exile in Europe and the Americas resulted in a boycott of Indian products.

Pinaki Bhattacharya, located in Paris, is said to be one of the primary drivers of the ‘Boycott India’ movement. The Bangladesh Nationalist Party was not among those who advocated for the boycott. Later, the BNP became involved with the anti-India campaign as some of its leaders provided their support.

TMC leader Pijush Panda’s casteist ‘Teli’ remark against PM Modi: BJP urges Election Commission to order FIR against the TMC politician

On Monday, April 1, Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) approached Election Commission of India (ECI) demanding action against TMC leader Pijush Panda for his offensive casteist remarks against PM Modi. BJP asked ECI to ban the controversial TMC leader from campaigning for the Lok Sabha elections following his casteist remark against PM Modi during a rally in Bengal.

In its complaint, the BJP said that the remarks by the TMC leader were serious violations of provisions of the Indian Penal Code, Representation of People Act, 1951 and Model Code of Conduct.

“The TMC leader Piyush Panda has taken objectionable recourse to demean the OBC community. He has made a public statement that polishing shoes is a befitting job for the members of the OBC community. Since he made this unacceptable statement in a public rally, thus, it cannot be construed as an isolated incident. The TMC has given instructions to its leaders to unleash highly derogatory remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the OBC community,” the complaint said.

Earlier, TMC leader Pijush Panda abused PM Modi during a political rally with casteist slurs and asked, “How can a son of ‘Teli’ inaugurate Ram Mandir”. The TMC leader was heard making casteist slurs against Modi in a video shared by the Leader of the Opposition (LOP) in West Bengal Suvendu Adhikari.

Taking to X, senior BJP leader Adhikari lambasted the TMC leader for hurling casteist remarks about PM Modi and also shared the video of an excerpt from the TMC leader’s controversial address.

In the video, Pijush Panda also made deranging attacks on PM Modi and called him an “absolute fraud” and “a madman”, alleging that all his certificates are computerised even when computers didn’t exist at that time. Notably, earlier, the Gujarat High Court had refused to grant relief to AAP National Convenor and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal for making defamatory claims about PM Modi’s degree row.

Further, the TMC leader Pijush Panda attacked PM Modi for inaugurating Ram Mandir despite being an OBC from Teli caste, saying only Brahmins can do so. He also suggested that OBCs like PM Modi should do the job of polishing shoes, saying that with a ‘Teli’ inaugurating Ram Mandir, Brahmins like himself will need to polish shoes.

The BJP delegation comprising Union minister Hardeep Singh Puri and party’s national general secretary Arun Kumar visited the ECI in Delhi and also lodged a complaint against TMC’s social media in-charge Debganshu Bhattacharya accusing him of posting on X (formerly Twitter) personal details of Rekha Patra, the BJP candidate from Basirhat Lok Sabha seat in West Bengal.

Meer Faisal communalises the Sambalpur revenge attack as a ‘terror attack by a Hindu’, his original X account was withheld earlier for spreading fake news

On 26th March, a bomb was allegedly hurled near a mosque in Peer Baba Chowk of Sambalpur, Odisha. The next day, police arrested a 19-year-old youth identified as Abhilash Mishra of Sunaripara in Bada Bazar under the Town police station area. As soon as the reports went out that a Hindu was arrested in the matter, several propagandists jumped to call it a communal matter and termed it a terror act.

Meer Faisal, a journalist, wrote on X, “Sambalpur bomb blast accused Sambalpur police have arrested Avinash Mishra. Three people were injured in the incident. It was a terrorist attack, yet no national media outlet reported on it because the accused was a Hindu.” Notably, Meer Faisal’s previous account was withheld in India after multiple cases of fake news.

Another propagandist, Md Asif Khan, who is known for spreading fake news, wrote, “Where is Indian Media?? Why is no one talking about this bomb blast? Isn’t it a terror attack?”

Another account, “drunk journalist”, wrote, “This is no different from the Rameshwaram blast, but this won’t be called a Terrorist attack, nor would the media show this as news.”

Revenge attack in Sambalpur peddled as a ‘terror attack by a Hindu’

Upon research into the matter, OpIndia found that though a man named Abhilash Mishra was arrested, it was not communal. IG (Northern Range) Himanshu Lal informed the media that after an investigation, the police found that it was a case of revenge and there was no communal angle. He said, “After the investigation, it was ascertained that it was a clear case of personal revenge, and no communal angle was involved. Our team has worked relentlessly over the night to capture the accused in the shortest possible time.”

According to The New Indian Express report, the accused confessed to the crime. Police recovered several tools and materials he used to make the pressure bomb from the accused’s house.

Speaking to the media, SP Mukesh Kumar Bhamoo said the accused is a second-year ITI student. At around 7:24 PM on 26th March, he hurled a pressure bomb towards the mosque from a flyover and fled on his cycle. Three persons were injured, and a vehicle was damaged.

In a post on X, Sambalpur police wrote, “Sambalpur police crack the sensitive bomb blast case within 24 hours and arrested the culprit in Town PS Case No 120/24 U/s 307/326/435 IPC/3 explosive substance act.”

During the investigation, the police found that Mishra had a personal rivalry with a man named Sushil Paika, a member of an Instagram page, “SBP Mafia Gang”. Paika allegedly assaulted Mishra’s father, after which he sought revenge. He planned to frame Paika in a bombing incident and put a ticket, “SBP Mafia Gang”, on the bomb.

The claims that it was a terrorist attack and there was a communal angle to the matter are false.

Stalin, who gave genocidal calls against Hindus, cites case of Nupur Sharma, threatened by Islamsits, to get FIRs clubbed, SC rejects: What happened

On Monday, April 1, the Supreme Court turned down the request of senior advocates Abhishek Manu Singhvi, P Wilson and Chitale, representing Tamil Nadu Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, to club multiple criminal complaints registered against him for his remark against Sanatan Dharma.

Stalin’s lawyers referred to the Supreme Court’s rulings in the cases of Amish Devgan, Arnab Goswami, Nupur Sharma, and Mohammed Zubair, where the consolidation of FIRs from multiple states was permitted and urged the apex court to club the FIRs filed against Stalin in similar lines.

The bench of Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta, however, noted that Stalin could not claim to be in the same position as journalists or media outlets.

“After all, you have made the statements voluntarily. And the cases you cited – those were news media people who were working as per diktats of their bosses to get TRPs. You cannot compare yourself to the media,” the Court remarked.

Singhvi then brought up the instance of former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma, who was hounded and threatened by Islamsits from all around the world for her innocuous remark on Prophet Muhammad and Islam during a debate on Times Now. Referring to the multiple FIRs filed against Nupur Sharma in various States until they were consolidated and transferred to one state, Sanghvi said, “Nupur Sharma is pure politician.”

The Court questioned Stalin’s decision to file a petition under Article 32 of the Constitution, which provides remedies for the enforcement of fundamental rights, rather than using Section 406 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), which gives the Supreme Court the authority to transfer cases and appeals.

Stalin was subsequently directed by the Court to modify his plea to bring it under Section 406 CrPC. The case was then scheduled for hearing in the week commencing on May 6.

Notably, last month, the Supreme Court had expressed sharp disapproval of Tamil Nadu Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin’s comments on Sanatana Dharma. “You are not an ordinary individual. You are a minister. You ought to be aware of the repercussions,” Justice Dutta had said rapped up Sanghvi who had then too approached the apex court, seeking the clubbing of FIRs against the DMK leader.

Udhayanidhi Stalin and his objectionable remarks on Sanatana Dharma

On Saturday (September 2), the Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development of Tamil Nadu said, “Mosquitoes, dengue, flu, malaria, corona – we should not oppose these things. They’ve to be eradicated completely.”

“The same is the case with Santanam (Hinduism). Our first work should be to abolish/eradicate Sanatanam instead of opposing it. So, my appreciation to you all for giving an apt title to the meeting,” he stated.

Later, he went on a tirade against the Hindu civilisational religious philosophy on social media. While taking to X (formerly Twitter), Udhayanidhi Stalin wrote, “Sanatan Dharma is a principle that divides people in the name of caste and religion.”

“Uprooting Sanatan Dharma is upholding humanity and human equality…I spoke on behalf of the oppressed & marginalized, who suffer due to the Sanatan Dharma. I spoke on behalf of the oppressed & marginalized, who suffer due to the Sanatan Dharma,” he reiterated his sinister plan.

Why Stalin and Nupur Sharma’s case cannot even be compared

It is quite disgusting that the lawyers for Stalin, who called for the genocidal destruction of Hindus, even dared to draw comparisons between it and the case of former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma, who was harassed and intimidated by Islamists for merely quoting the Islamic Hadiths on Prophet Muhammad. The two situations are not at all comparable.

The DMK leader had vowed to uproot Sanatan Dharma and eliminate Hindus. Last year, on September 2, the Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development of Tamil Nadu said, “Mosquitoes, dengue, flu, malaria, corona – we should not oppose these things. They’ve to be eradicated completely.”

“The same is the case with Santanam (Hinduism). Our first work should be to abolish/eradicate Sanatanam instead of opposing it. So, my appreciation to you all for giving an apt title to the meeting,” he further added.

While Stalin had openly called for the genocide of Hindus, former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma had merely quoted the Islamic Hadiths on Prophet Muhammad. This opened the flood doors on her. Nupur Sharma started receiving death and rape threats from Islamists all over the world.

In addition, individuals who sided with Nupur Sharma’s remarks were also subject to beheading threats. In Amravati, Umesh Kolhe was killed by stabbing. A tailor named Kanhaiyalal was beheaded before opening his store in Udaipur. Along with this, many other people were also warned of dreadful repercussions. During protests, the “Sar Tan Se Juda” slogan was shouted.

Not just this, several Muslim nations had also issued statements against Nupur Sharma for her alleged blasphemous remarks.

Though she later apologised and retracted her statement, she continued to be on the radar of Islamists. Along with multiple death threats, several rabid Islamists had taken to various social media platforms to openly vilify, humiliate and threaten the ex-BJP spokesperson. After being ceaselessly hounded by Islamists who bayed for her blood and called for her beheading, multiple FIRs were filed against Nupur Sharma in different parts of the country.

In eight states, more than ten cases were filed against her, but the Supreme Court moved all of them to Delhi. Giving great relief to her, the Supreme Court also stayed her arrest.

It is notable that, Nupur Sharma gave this statement when she was provoked by Taslim Ahmed Rahmani – the other panellist on the TV debate – who repeatedly insulted the Shivling found in the Gyanvapi complex of Varanasi calling it a fountain. Moreover, the comments about the Prophet and his wife that she made is mentioned in Islamic texts, and Muslim scholars regularly mention the same.

3 hearts, 3 kidneys, hands, spine and tongue: Nigerian police arrest Islamic cleric for collecting human body parts for ‘rituals’

An Islamic cleric named Oluwafemi Idris was arrested with two of his accomplices from the Akoko area in Ondo State of Nigeria on charges of possessing fresh human body parts.

As per reports, the two other accused were identified as Samuel Kutelu and Babatunde Kayode. While speaking about the matter, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya informed that the arrests were made based on intel received in January this year.

Reportedly, the Islamic cleric had gathered fresh human body parts for ‘ritualistic activities’. Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya said that the cops recovered human hands, 3 hearts, 3 kidneys, a spine and a tongue from the residence of Oluwafemi Idris.

The Nigerian police have now launched a manhunt to nab another cleric, who supplied the human body parts and 3 skulls to the Islamic cleric.

“The Ondo State Police Command has arrested one Oluwafemi Idris for unlawful possession of human parts. The police got intel from a reliable source in January 2024 that one Idris, popularly known as Alfa in his area, kept human parts in his house and intended to use them for ritual purposes,” Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya stated.

“The police swung into action and apprehended the suspect. A search was conducted in his house at Akoko, and the following human parts were found in his possession: human hands, three kidneys, three hearts, a spine and a tongue,” she emphasised.

Dharamveer Gandhi quits AAP, joins Congress ahead of Lok Sabha Elections, slams Aam Aadmi Party a day after Congress extended support to them

On Monday (1st April), former AAP MP from Punjab’s Patiala, Dharamvir Gandhi joined the Indian National Congress in the presence of several senior party leaders ahead of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024. As per the reports, Gandhi is likely to contest as a Congress candidate from the Patiala seat.

Gandhi, while addressing the media on the occasion, slammed the AAP party and said that he, and many other leaders like him who still are part of AAP, made a huge mistake by joining the party in the year 2014. “It was the biggest mistake of our lives. We had some hopes from the AAP but we remained unsatisfied. All our dreams stayed ignored and unfulfilled,” Gandhi added.

The leader further praised the Congress party and said that the only party that can save democracy today is Congress. “These days I don’t keep well. My eyesight is weak. But then too, if Congress wants me to contest the elections from Patiala, I am ready for that. I actually have nothing to do with the Lok Sabha elections or polls. But then this is a good opportunity to show AAP what working for the people means. I am absolutely ready for the elections,” he added.

Dharamveer Gandhi further said, “Maharani Parneet Kaur is contesting from BJP in Patiala. I challenge her. The party that she represents does not respect democracy. The only party which can today save the Indian democracy and Constitution is Congress.”

It is important to note that several leaders from the Congress party and INDI Alliance extended support to AAP in Delhi after Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal got arrested by Enforcement Directorate in the liquor policy scam. The Congress slammed the BJP and accused it of using the central agencies ahead of the Lok Sabha Elections.
