‘Kabhi namaz bhi padh lo, shame on you’: Sara Ali Khan faces hateful attack for celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi

Bollywood actress Sara Ali Khan who is known for relishing all festivals regularly receives a barrage of abusive comments when she partakes in Hindu celebrations or visits temples. The daughter of actors Saif Ali Khan Patudi and Amrita Singh has found herself at the receiving end of yet another negative campaign after she shared a picture of Lord Ganesh on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi on 19 September.

She brought the deity home and shared a picture of herself praying on the occasion of Ganesh Puja on her official Instagram account with the caption “Ganpati Bappa Morya.”

However, the post did not go well with hateful Islamists who started posting vile comments against the actor.

One netizen told the Bollywood star to determine her religion first.

“When did Muslims start celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi” questioned a user.

Raheen Hakimi accused, “For name and for money your people change everything.”

Another wrote that people like the Kedarnath actress only earn by using Muslim names.

A netizen denounced Sara Ali Khan for “doing things like this” as a Muslim.

Another stated that the actress should stick to her religion and shouldn’t play with it. She was told to be proud of who she is and her God as well as asked if she is a Muslim only in name.

One was flabbergasted as to why the Simmba actress, who is the daughter of a Hindu mother and a Muslim father, is praying to a Hindu god. She added, “Shame on you, Sara.”

Notably, Sara Ali Khan once responded to this online harassment and asserted, “I hear everything, but listen to only what’s constructive, if people don’t like my work that’s a problem. So, any inputs regarding my work I listen to, but comments made on my personal life and beliefs are always ignored by me,” in an interview. Unsurprisingly, Islamists have long targeted her because she frequents temples and participates in Hindu ceremonies.

More importantly, she isn’t the only public figure who has come under fire for observing a Hindu festival or ritual. They have also attacked other famous people for the same reason, including actors and cricketers, regardless of their faith.

Shah Rukh KhanMohammad KaifZaheer KhanDipika Kakar Ibrahim and Neil Nitin Mukesh are some of the celebrities who have been the target of hateful social media users for celebrating Hindu festivals or visiting Hindu temples.

Sonia Gandhi seeks quota for SC/ST/OBC in Women’s Reservation Bill, demands immediate implementation

0

Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday began the discussion on the Women’s Reservation Bill in Lok Sabha on the third day of the special session of Parliament.

Extending her support to the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam 2023’ Bill, Sonia Gandhi demanded its immediate implementation.

She said that a delay in implementing the bill is a gross unfairness to the women of the country.

“I stand in support of Nari Shakti Vandan Adhinyam 2023. Women are being told that they will have to wait more for this bill to become law. we demand that the bill be made a law immediately. As a delay in implementing the bill is a gross unfairness to women in the country. I appeal to the Government to do this immediately,” Sonia Gandhi said in Lok Sabha.

She also demanded the conducting of a caste census to ensure the participation of women belonging to Other Backward Class/Scheduled Caste (OBC/SC) communities.

Ahead of her speech in Lok Sabha Sonia Gandhi said, “It was Rajiv ji’s (Gandhi’s) dream (Bill).”

“This is an emotional moment of my own life as well. For the first time, Constitutional amendment to decide women’s representation in local body election was brought by my life partner Rajiv Gandhi. It was defeated in Rajya Sabha by seven votes. Later, Congress Government, under the leadership of PM PV Narasimha Rao, passed it in Rajya Sabha. As a result, we have 15 lakh elected women leaders across the country through local bodies. Rajiv Gandhi’s dream is only partially complete. It will complete with the passing of this Bill,” Sonia Gandhi said in Lok Sabha.

She said the Congress party supports this Bill and is happy regarding the passage of the Bill but said there were concerns.

“I would like to ask a question. Indian women have been waiting for their political responsibilities for the last 13 years. Now they are being asked to wait for a few more years. How many years? Is this behaviour with Indian women appropriate? INC demands that the Bill be implemented with immediate effect but Caste census should also be done and arrangement for reservation of SC, ST and OBC women should be made…” Sonia Gandhi said.

Discussion for passing of the Bill in the House began today at 11 with Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal introducing the amendments in the Bill.

The Bill will be taken up in Rajya Sabha on September 21, government sources said.

UK: Ganesh Chaturthi celebration disrupted in Leicester after police officer Adam Ahmed manhandles Hindu priest and devotees

On 19th September (local time), a police officer identified as Adam Ahmed used excessive force on an elderly Hindu priest of Indian origin during the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in Leicester in the UK. The videos of the incident went viral on social media, where Ahmed was seen behaving rudely with the priest and the Hindu devotees who tried to stop him.

Sharing the video of the incident, Insight UK, a social movement of British Hindus and Indians, questioned Leicester Police if the behaviour of the police official was acceptable. Notably, this was not the first time Ahmed was found manhandling Hindu devotees in the name of maintaining law and order. In July this year, videos of him harassing Hindu devotees who went to attend Ram Katha by Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shastri of Bageshwar Dham.

Insight UK said in a post on X (formerly Twitter), “Disruption of Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in Leicester with the use of excessive force by officer Adam Ahmed of Leicestershire Police. We condemn the actions of the officer and believe that the actions by Mr Ahmed were uncalled for. Interestingly, Officer Ahmed was the same Policeman that created controversy outside the Prajapati hall on 23rd July 2023.”

Leicester administration has not issued any statement as of now. However, several videos showed Ahmed not only manhandling the Hindu priest but also confronting another person of Indian origin. A woman who tried to argue with him that he could not take the priest away was ignored by the police personnel.

A popular X user, Jix5A, shared more videos of the incident. She mentioned that a Somali Muslim police officer from Leicester police harassed the elderly priest. She wrote, “This police Muslim officer has no right to lay a finger on anyone! Yet, here he is manhandling all the peaceful Hindus celebrating their religious day .. Arrest this Somali Muslim police officer! He clearly has a hatred for Hindus! Why has he not been suspended from the police force? Hindu minority are no longer safe in Leicester.”

In another post, Jix5A said the person manhandled and handcuffed by the police was Dharmesh Lakhani, owner of Bobby’s restaurant on Belgrave Road. It was the first Indian restaurant in Leicester.
Talking about the history of the restaurant and Lakhani’s family’s contributions to the city, she mentioned that the Indian restaurant owned by Bhagwanji Lakhani and located on Belgrave Road in Leicester is a significant cultural symbol as it was the city’s first Indian eatery. The legacy of Bhagwanji’s family continued with his son, Dharmesh Lakhani. Unfortunately, there was an unexpected incident where a Somali Muslim police officer arrested Lakhani without evidence of wrongdoing. This arrest was due to Lakhani’s celebration of #Ganesha Chaturthi, which confused the community.

The release of Lakhani was secured by local elected councillors, which prompted reflections on the challenges that the Hindu community faces. The struggles of Bhagwanji Lakhani, who fled Uganda due to Idi Amin’s expulsion of Asians and rose to prominence in Leicester, were mirrored by this incident. The return of racism and Hinduophobia raised concerns, leaving British Hindus to ponder their future without a dedicated homeland. This situation has caused worry among the community.

Ahmed manhandled Hindu devotees in July during Ram Katha event

In July this year, Jix5A had shared videos of Adam Ahmed misbehaving with Hindu devotees who went to attend Ram Katha by Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shastri of Bageshwar Dham. She wrote, “Crowds of Devotees in Leicester coming for Dharshan and to listen to Ram Katha by Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shastri of Bageshwar Dham. at Prajapati hall this morning. First they had to brave the heavy rains , then manhandled and beaten by an M police officer. There was poor management and not enough police. Was this deliberately done? That Hinduphobic police officer needs to be suspended and criminal charges brought against him! Leicestershire police have shown over and over again, how Hindu-phobic they are! What was the need for such aggression?! We all know the reason!”

The anti-Hindu attacks in the United Kingdom – Leicester and Birmingham

Since August last year, the anti-Hindu attacks in the United Kingdom, especially in Leicester and Birmingham, increased by several folds. What appeared to be a reaction to the defeat Pakistan faced in the T20 Asia Cup match against India, it was later found that Islamists were just using the match as an excuse to attack the Hindus as they did not stop even after Pakistan defeated India in the same series a week later.

The attacks intensified to the extent that Hindu families left Leicester, and some reportedly have not returned. The houses, businesses and properties of Hindus were vandalised. Contrary to what was happening, mainstream media and Islamists tried to cover up the anti-Hindu attacks and blamed Hindus for the clashes.

In Birmingham, they used an event where Sadhvi Ritambhara was scheduled to appear as an excuse to attack a Hindu temple. The event was postponed owing to Sadhvi’s health. However, the Islamists did not back off and attacked the temple. It was evident that they were well aware of the fact that not only that particular event but the whole tour was postponed, but they moved ahead and called to circle the temple to intimidate Hindus. More such so-called “peaceful protests” at Hindu temples and establishments in the UK have been planned by the Islamists in the coming days.

‘Kuffar should not be allowed in Makkah’: SRK attacked by Islamists for performing Ganesh Puja at his home, again

On Tuesday, September 19, actor Shah Rukh Khan shared a picture of the idol of Lord Ganesh he welcomed at his home on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi and wished everyone a “wonderful day honouring Lord Ganesha.” This, however, did not go well with the Islamists who attacked the ‘Jawan’ actor for committing “Shirk” (sin) by celebrating the festival of the Hindus despite being a Muslim himself.

Taking to X, SRK wrote, “Welcome home Ganpati Bappa Ji. Wishing you and your family a wonderful day honouring Lord Ganesha. May Lord Ganesha bless all of us with happiness, wisdom, good health and lots of Modak to eat!!!”

Islamists across the world have an amusing common trait: they want the Kafirs to be tolerant and respectful towards their religious beliefs and festivals, however, it is Shirk (sin) if a Muslim forget celebrating, even wishes a non-Muslim on their festivals.

Soon after Shah Rukh Khan dropped the Ganesh Chaturthi post, Islamists flooded the comment section with replies attacking the actor for committing the gravest sin in Islam.

A Twitter user named Ihtemad seemed quite agitated by SRK’s post as he wrote, “Kuffar must not be allowed in Makkah. He should not be discounted anymore as these constant acts of shirk are neither coerced nor are they necessary for his survival. You are not a Muslim SRK. There’s nothing bad about it. Just don’t claim to be one.”

Another one named Ruheen Bi wrote, “Tawheed and Shirk cannot co-exist! Both have different paths Whether one considers it good or bad! I will say only what is right and what is true!”

A Pakistani man opined that the actor intended to prove his loyalty towards India by posting about Ganesh Chaturthi and wrote, “Still Hindu supremacist will not accept your loyalty. Alhamdullah for being Pakistani Muslim we don’t need to prove anything to become a patriotic citizen.”

Another user was reminded of Mohammad Ali Jinnah’s remarks that Muslims will have to prove their loyalty to India always and wrote, “Your tweets always remind me of Jinnah who said at the time of separation that Muslims would keep proving their loyalty to India for the rest of their lives. You seem like you have a deep impact of Hinduism on your life as you have forgotten this is what we call SHIRK in Islam.”

One Faizan asked SRK to first decide whether he is a Hindu or a Muslim.

Another Pakistani user seemed confused as she could not understand why the actor is committing Shirk despite being a Muslim. She added that when there is one Allah what is the need for all this “drama”.

One Rizwan Mohiuddin decided to school Shah Rukh Khan about the consequences of committing Shirk as he wrote, “Shirk ke consequences kya hai inko nahi maloom. Agar shirk ki aqaid/halaat mein inteqal hojaye, toh Jannat har waqt ke liyea haraam hojati, doomed for ever. When Allah (SWT) refused 2 forgive Prophet’s beloved uncle Abu Talib, where do these ppl stand?”

Notably, this is not the first time that Shah Rukh Khan has faced an online attack for wishing on a Hindu festival, especially Ganesh Chaturthi. Last year, Khan took to social media to share a picture of an idol of Lord Ganesha on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. His post, however, triggered the Islamists who dropped hateful comments against the actor for committing Shirk by celebrating a Hindu festival. The actor faced the attack by the Islamists on Ganesh Chaturthi for the sixth time in a row.

Congress’ Adhir Chowdhury says Modi govt removed ‘secular’ and ‘socialist’ from the copies of Constitution given to MPs, and he added them on his own while speaking

Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has claimed that the copies of the Constitution given to the MPs did not contain the words “Secular” and “Socialist” in the Preamble. He alleged that the words were deliberately removed.

“The new Constitution copies which were given to us, the Constitution copies holding which we entered the Parliament, the Preamble of that Constitution does not have the words Secular and Socialist,” the Congress leader said.

He added, “We know that these two words were included in 1976 but if someone gives us the Constitution today and it doesn’t contain the words Socialist and Secular then is a matter of concern. They have done this very carefully. If you try to say something then they will say that this is how it was from the start but their intentions are doubtful.”

Members of Parliament were given a hamper each which contained a copy of the Constitution, a commemorative coin featuring the new Parliament, and a postage stamp on the first day of the new Parliament House of India.

Chowdhury said that he wanted to raise the issue in the Parliament but did not get the chance to do so. Interestingly, the LoP did read out the words “secular” and “socialist” while reading from the Constitution copy on day 2 of the special session in the new Parliament.

Speaking to media, he said that when he was reading from the copy, he could not find those words, and hence he added the words, “secular” and “socialist” on his own.

It is notable here that the words were not a part of India’s original Constituion when it was adapted. But the words were inserted during the emergency under Indira Gandhi when almost the entire Opposition was in jail.

A number of BJP leaders have spoken on the issue, stating that the copies of the Constitution that were distributed were made as per the original copy of the Constitution and not the ‘changed’ version that Indira Gandhi forced on the country during the emergency, without following any democratic process.

Notably, on 5 September, the Congress on X, formerly Twitter, shared a picture of the Preamble in the Constitution which was full of typos and errors. The Congress had made a post on the social media platform amid speculations that the government could soon move a resolution to adopt Bharat as the country’s official name.

The party had to delete the post after spellings of ‘solemnly’ and ‘Republic’ were written as ‘solemny’ and ‘Repubic’ respectively while ‘opportunity’, ‘belief’, and ‘this’ were spelt as ‘oppertunity’, ‘brief’, and ‘thus’.

Meanwhile, Day 2 of the special session saw Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury trying to claim credit for the women’s reservation bill but his claims were dismissed by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Chowdhury had said that Rajiv Gandhi had brought women’s quota to local body polls in 1989 but was countered by the treasury recounting how the bill continued to be lapsed during the UPA era.

‘Leave Canada, go to India’: Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannu threatens Canadian Hindus, insinuates violence against Indian diplomats

Amidst surging tensions between India and Canada over the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, the leader of the banned Khalistani outfit Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) has issued threats to Canadian Hindus and asked them to leave Canada claiming that they have adopted a “jingoistic approach” by siding with India.

In the video titled “Leave Canada, Indo-Hindus, Go India”, Pannu said, “Indo-Canadian Hindus, you have repudiated the allegiance to Canada and the Canadian constitution. Your destination is India. Leave Canada, go to India.”

Reportedly, Pannu said that after the Trudeau government in Canada paused the trade agreement with India, the Canadian Hindus are working against the national interests of Canada adding that they are siding with India. Moreover, he alleged that the Canadian Hindus are not only backing India but also supporting its alleged suppression of pro-Khalistan voices. “You are supporting violence by celebrating the assassination of Shaheed Nijjar,” Pannu reportedly said.

The Khalistan daydreamer went on to heap praises on pro-Khalistan Sikhs of Canada saying that they have always been loyal to Canada and upheld the country’s laws and constitution.

He further announced another ‘referendum’ although this time not to vote for Khalistan but to decide if Indian High Commissioner Sanjay Kumar Verma is responsible for the ‘assassination’ of Hardeep Singh Nijjar. He said that on October 29, a “Kill India Referendum” is happening in Vancouver and urged the Canadian Sikhs to come and vote.

It is notable here that Khalistani terrorists in Canada have repeatedly threatened violence against Indian diplomats and endangered Indian diplomatic missions. The Indian government has raised this issue with the Canadian government multiple times.

Pannu is another Khalistani terrorist wanted by the Indian government under UAPA.

Hardeep Singh Nijjar, the head of Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara Sahib in Canada and a wanted Khalistani terrorist in India, was shot dead in Surrey by two unidentified assailants on June 18 this year. He was a wanted terrorist by the Indian Government. The 46-year-old hailed from the village Bhar Singhpura of Jalandhar.

The controversy around Nijjar’s murder recently erupted after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on September 18 accused India of killing the Khalistani terrorist on Canadian soil. Without providing any proof, Trudeau claimed that Canada is pursuing “credible information” about Indian agents being involved in Nijjar’s killing. After the bizarre statement by Trudeau, Canada expelled one Indian diplomat over it, the Indian government rejected all of Canada’s allegations. In a swift response, the Ministry of External Affairs stated that any allegation of India’s involvement in Nijjar’s killing is ‘absurd and motivated’.

It is notable, that Gurpatwant Singh Pannu often issues threats to India and the Modi government over its action against the Khalistani elements. On September 12, Pannu released a video in which he issued threats to the Indian Government asking India to shut down the Indian High Commission in Ottawa. Moreover, he had threatened to target Indian diplomat Sanjay Kumar Verma.

‘We are not looking to provoke or escalate’: Trudeau says over terrorist Nijjar’s murder after triggering a massive diplomatic fallout with India

On 19th September (local time), Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau did a minor flip-flop on his anti-India stand in the matter of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar’s murder on Canadian soil and claimed Canada was not looking to ‘provoke or escalate’ the issue against the government of India.

Speaking to Reuters, he said, “The government of India needs to take this matter with the utmost seriousness. We are doing that, we are not looking to provoke or escalate, we are simply laying out the facts as we understand them, and we want to work with the government of India. It is extremely serious, and it has far-reaching consequences in international law… We’re going to remain calm. We are going to remain grounded in our democratic principles and values. We are going to follow the evidence and make sure the work is done to a whole people.”

His statement came hours after reports surfaced that the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia had earlier refused to issue a joint statement against India. Hours before his statement, US media reports revealed that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau failed to garner any support from Western allies, especially his Five Eyes partners, to join his side in levelling absurd allegations against India. According to a report in the Washington Post, Canada’s Western allies have repeatedly refused to be drawn into or be a part of Trudeau’s “foreign interference” narrative.

The report revealed that Trudeau had been pursuing this baseless anti-India allegation for weeks. Apparently, behind the scenes, he had made several requests with allied nations before airing his mischievous accusation against India. According to the Western official, Trudeau also requested Western allies to come on the same page and issue a joint statement condemning the killing of Khalistani terrorist Nijjar as a contravention of international norms.

The Washington Post report said, “In recent months, Canada began pushing its closest allies, the members of the Five Eyes intelligence-sharing network…to raise Nijjar’s killing with India at the highest levels of government and issue a joint statement condemning the act as contravening international norms, said a Western official who spoke on the condition of anonymity because of diplomatic sensitivities.” However, all the Western allies of Canada, including the United States, declined his request and shrugged it off. After trying in vain to rally the West against India and in the backdrop of his disastrous India visit, Trudeau levelled the allegations alone in Parliament on 18th September.

Misleading reports of updated travel advisory by Canada while traveling to India

Interestingly, while Trudeau claimed Canada is not looking to “provoke or escalate” the GoI, media reports suggested a new travel advisory has been issued urging Canadians to exercise high caution while traveling to India. However, when OpIndia checked the old advisories issued by Canada regarding traveling to India (here and here), the text was mostly the same, with minor changes. No specific change in the advisory could have been linked to the recent diplomatic tussle between Canada and India.

Justin Trudeau pandered to Khalistani terrorists as he blames India for killing Nijjar, expelled diplomat

On 18th September, in a bizarre move, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau blamed India for killing Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada. In a statement, India categorically rejected the claims and urged the Canadian government to take strict action against anti-India elements on its soil. Furthermore, Canadian Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly said as a consequence of the allegations, the Canadian government expelled a top Indian diplomat. Interestingly, PM Trudeau accused India in the Canadian parliament of killing Nijjar without providing any proof.

Khalistani terrorists being granted a safe harbour in Canada and operating their anti-India activities under the protection of the Canadian government has been a constant thorn in India-Canada relations for decades. Even the terrorist Talwinder Parmar was allowed to operate on Canadian soil in the 1980s despite an extradition request from the Indian government and existing evidence of him planning a bomb blast.

A number of secessionist Khalistani terrorists continue to live, operate, and threaten India, including Indian diplomats in Canada. Despite multiple requests from the Indian governments over the years, the Canadian government continues to support them and allows them to carry on their anti-India activities from Canadian soil.

How Justin Trudeau tried to alienate Modi Govt and support Khalistani terrorism ahead of G20, but failed as his Five Eyes allies did not want to risk their relations with India

On Tuesday (19 September), US media reports revealed that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has been an abject failure in garnering any support from Western allies to join his side in labeling absurd allegations against India.

Regarding Trudeau’s decision to build an anti-India bloc on this issue, a Western official informed US media that the Canadian Prime Minister had been pushing its closest allies and members of the Five Eyes intelligence-sharing network to raise the issue of Nijjar’s killing with the Indian government.

According to the Western official, Trudeau also requested Western allies to come on the same page and issue a joint statement condemning the killing of Khalistani terrorist Nijjar as a contravention of international norms.

The Washington Post report said, “In recent months, Canada began pushing its closest allies, the members of the Five Eyes intelligence-sharing network…to raise Nijjar’s killing with India at the highest levels of government and issue a joint statement condemning the act as contravening international norms, said a Western official who spoke on the condition of anonymity because of diplomatic sensitivities.”

Snippet from The Washington Post report

However, all the Western allies of Canada including the United States declined his request and shrugged it off. After trying in vain to rally the West against India and in the backdrop of his disastrous India visit, Trudeau labeled the allegations alone in Parliament on Monday (18 September).

Here it is important to note that Canada, the UK, the US, Australia, and New Zealand are members of the coveted Five Eyes intelligence-sharing arrangement.

Despite being members of the Five-Eyes intelligence-sharing group, no Western ally has given much credence to his allegations and has buried his ridiculous foreign interference narrative and Nijjar’s killing with diplomatic balancing to give Trudeau a saving grace, momentarily.

Article in the Washington Post

In fact, Western allies have continued their bilateral deals and strategic partnerships with India and not paid heed to his allegation more than it deserves – diplomatically saying “noted, now move on”. They have announced to continue the trajectory of their diplomatic ties with India, as per the reports.

UK will continue trade negotiations with India, Sunak tells

Evidently, following the development, Britain categorically asserted that it would continue its trade negotiations with India for drafting a Free Trade Agreement (FTA), without paying much heed to the shenanigans of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, a day earlier.

Speaking on the allegations Trudeau labeled against India, the spokesperson of British PM Rishi Sunak shrugged off the issue underscoring that nobody should preempt an ongoing investigation.

The spokesperson said, “Work on the trade negotiations will continue as before. The Canadian authorities will now conduct their work and I’m not going to preempt them.”

The spokesperson highlighted that when they have concerns about countries with whom they are negotiating trade deals, they directly raise the issue with the concerned government.

The spokesperson further added by saying, “..with regards to the current negotiations with India, these are negotiations about a trade deal, and we’re not looking to conflate them with other issues.”

Similarly, Australian PM Anthony Albanese was reluctant to be drawn on the issue at a media conference in Melbourne on Tuesday, the Guardian reported. He added that no one should speculate intelligence.

He said, “I don’t talk about Five Eyes’ intelligence at a press conference, funnily enough, that’s why it’s called intelligence because we don’t speculate on what the intelligence is.”

Though USA, UK and Australia have expressed diplomatically that they are ‘deeply concerned’ about the allegations, the lack of any substantial backlash, or joint statement against the Indian government over the issue makes it clear that Trudeau will most likely be alone in his campaign to support anti-India terrorists un Canadian soil.

Canada’s allies, including the US, the UK, and Australia, rejected Trudeau’s request to condemn India over Nijjar’s killing fearing diplomatic backlash: Report

0

Amid the escalating diplomatic tensions between India and Canada spurred by Justin Trudeau’s unfounded allegations of New Delhi’s involvement in the killing of Khalistani extremist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a report published in the Washington Post said the Canadian Prime Minister sought the support of many countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia, to raise the issue but was snubbed by everyone fearing diplomatic backlash from India, one of the fastest growing countries in the world and regarded as a potential counterweight to an increasingly assertive China.

The Washington Post article titled ‘Canada’s allies rebuff its requests to join in accusations against India’ shed light on Canadian PM Justin Trudeau’s attempt to seek diplomatic support from partners in mounting an offensive against India over the killing of Khalistan extremist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a Canadian citizen who was assassinated on June 18.

Trudeau had reportedly asked Canada’s allies, including the United States, to condemn India for the murder but was rebuffed by everyone, underscoring the growing heft and sway New Delhi holds under the leadership of PM Modi, who has promised to catapult India among the top 3 economies of the world, and amidst the clouds of economic uncertainty, Russia-Ukraine war, and a visibly slowing China. India had also recently announced a momentous inter-continent project, connecting herself with the Middle East and Europe as a strategic counter to China’s BRI without saddling participating countries with the debt trap as characteristics of Beijing’s global infrastructure development plan.

The report mentioned that while several officials from the Five Eyes countries, an intelligence alliance comprising Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States, privately spoke about the assassination, it did not warrant a mention during the all-important G-20 Summit in India that illustrated New Delhi’s emerging aspiration to raise its status in the global comity of nations as a reliable partner and a land of boundless opportunities.

The diplomatic crisis between India and Canada was precipitated by Justin Trudeau’s bizarre claims made in the Canadian parliament on September 18, blaming India for killing Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada. Furthermore, Canadian Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly said as a consequence of the allegations, the Canadian government expelled a top Indian diplomat. Interestingly, PM Trudeau accused India in the Canadian parliament of killing Nijjar without providing any proof.

Najjar, who had been involved in Khalistani activities, was killed on June 18 outside Sikh Gurudwara in Surrey, British Columbia. Trudeau claimed that Canadian intelligence agencies have been looking into the murder. He added that the matter was discussed with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during G20 last week and claimed to have told PM Modi that any involvement of the Indian government would be unacceptable.

Responding to the allegations, India issued a statement, categorically rejecting the claims and urged the Canadian government to take strict action against anti-India elements on its soil. India summoned Canada’s High Commissioner to India Cameron MacKay, and expelled a top Indian diplomat, reportedly identified as a Canadian spy by the Hindustan Times.

SS Rajamouli announces ‘Made in India’, a biopic on Dadasaheb Phalke, had recently opened up on his dream of bringing Mahabharat to the big screen

After the unprecedented success of RRR, acclaimed director-producer SS Rajamouli has announced his most ambitious project, ‘Made in India’. The upcoming feature film will be a biopic on the Father of Indian Cinema, Dadasaheb Phalke.

Taking to X, the director of several magnum opus, SS Rajamouli asserted that he was emotionally moved when he first heard the script for the biopic. He highlighted that making a biopic is a challenge in itself, but the stakes get higher when one plans to make a biopic on the Father of Indian Cinema.

He said, “When I first heard the narration, it moved me emotionally like nothing else. Making a biopic is tough in itself, but conceiving one about the FATHER OF INDIAN CINEMA is even more challenging. Our boys are ready and up for it. With immense pride, Presenting MADE IN INDIA.”

The script of the biopic will revolve around the birth and rise of Indian cinema. It will be directed by National Award-winning director Nitin Kakkar. ‘Made In India’ will be Rajamouli’s first project as a presenter while it will mark his son SS Karthikeya’s debut as a film producer. Earlier, he was credited as the line producer of RRR.

As per official information, the biopic will be jointly produced by Varun Gupta and SS Karthikeya under the production banners Max Studios and Showing Business. The film will be released in Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam, Tamil, and Hindi. However, the team is yet to finalise the cast of the film.

Who is Dadasaheb Phalke, on whom filmmaker SS Rajamouli has announced the biopic

Dadasaheb Phalke’s original name was Dhundiraj Govind Phalke and he was born in Trimbak in present-day Maharashtra. He made his directorial debut after learning the skills of filmmaking from Cecil Hepworth in London. He made the first-ever full-length Indian feature film titled Raja Harishchandra in 1913.

In a career spanning over two decades, Dadasaheb Phalke made 95 movies and 27 short films. Over the years, he earned the moniker, ‘Father of Indian Cinema’ and in 1969, the central government paid tribute to the visionary filmmaker by dedicating an award in his name. Notably, the Dadasaheb Phalke Award recognises the lifetime contributions of artists to Indian cinema.

Another striking thing regarding ‘Made in India’ is that the news first appeared on Deadline, an international news outlet. After the global success of RRR and its song ‘Naatu Naatu’ receiving the Oscar for best original song, SS Rajamouli has set his eyes on the global stage.

SS Rajamouli on his ‘dream project’ Mahabharat

In May this year, SS Rajamouli opened up about his long-held desire to make a movie based on the Indian epic Mahabharat. The director, who has been riding high on the huge successes of his movies, RRR and Baahubali, has previously referred to it as his dream project.

However, now he has disclosed at an event that if given the opportunity to make a film on the classic, he would like to split it into 10 parts in order to truly do justice to it. Furthermore, he emphasised that he wants to make it for himself more than anything else.
