Wagner Chief Evgeny Prigozhin’s death in plane crash confirmed by DNA testing: Moscow

On Sunday (27 August), Russia’s Investigative Committee confirmed that one of the men who died in a plane crash earlier this week was Wagner Chief Evgeny Prigozhin. The Russian authority added that all the ten individuals who died in the plane crash have been identified with the help of DNA analysis.

In a statement released on Sunday, the committee’s chief spokesperson Svetlana Petrenko said that Russian investigators had completed DNA testing of the bodies of those who were on board the Embraer 135BJ Legacy 600 plane, Russian media RT reported.

As per the Russian news outlet RIA Novosti, the investigators conducted a molecular genetic examination to identify the deceased individuals. The DNA testing was completed on Sunday which confirmed that the Wagner Chief Prigozhin was among the 10 people who died in the crash.

However, the exact cause behind the plane crash is still unknown. Following the identification process, the Russian authorities have initiated a criminal investigation into the violation of the rules of air traffic safety and operation of air transport, RIA Novosti reported.

It is pertinent to note that an Embraer Legacy 600 executive jet claimed to be Prigozhin’s private jet was flying from Moscow to St. Petersburg on Wednesday, 25 August. However, the jet crashed when it was in the Tver Region which is in the north-west of Moscow killing all those who were on board.

Committee’s spokesperson Petrenko said, “The identities of all 10 of the deceased have been established, [and] they correspond to the flight list.”

The flight list was earlier shared by the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency and it included Wagner PMC Chief Prigozhin. Several high-ranking Wagner operatives also died in the crash and they have been identified as Dmitry Utkin, who is claimed to be the co-founder of the Wagner PMC, and Valery Chekalov, who was considered to be the deputy head of the group.

The other deceased have been identified as Wagner members Valery Chekalov, Sergei Propustin, Yevgeny Makaryan, Alexander Totmin, and Nikolay Matuseyev.

The flight crew included two pilots (Alexei Levshin and Rustam Karimov) and an air hostess (Kristina Raspopova) have also been proclaimed dead in the crash.

Apparently, a week earlier, Former Wagner Chief Prigozhin released a video seemingly filmed in Africa. Back then, he claimed that the Wagner Group had reopened recruitment, and was conducting “reconnaissance and search activities” against “ISIS, Al-Qaeda, and other bandits”, as reported by the Russian news agency RT.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin commented on the supposed death of Prigozhin in the plane crash. As per RT, Putin described the businessman as a “talented” man of “complicated destiny” who made a significant contribution to the fight against neo-Nazis in Ukraine.

Further, hours before Prighozin’s death was confirmed, Putin ordered the Wagner group to sign an oath of allegiance to the Russian state. As per a report in The Guardian, Putin signed a decree in this regard and stated that it would be implemented with immediate effect.

The decree read, “Fighters must pledge their loyalty to the Russian Federation… strictly follow their commanders and superiors’ orders, and conscientiously fulfill their obligations.”

‘You vote for Modi by taking ration’: Amethi Youth Congress president and his associates assault Dalit couple, FIR registered

0

A case has been filed against Shubham Singh, the district president of the Indian Youth Congress in Amethi and his accomplices after they abused and threatened a Dalit couple. The First Information Report was lodged a day after he reported Bharatiya Janta Party leaders to the police for allegedly beating him.

The Amethi police station reportedly received a complaint from Jagdish Kori, a resident of Bhusianwa village. He accused that at around 8:30 p.m. on 25 August, the Congressman along with his companions named Brijendra Singh, Loha Singh and some other unidentified individuals attacked him and his wife while they were returning to their residence from Amethi.

The victim revealed that the accused stated, “You vote for Modi by taking ration,” and he countered him with, “Modi is the hero of the country and is supporting all of us.” Afterwards, Shubham Singh along with his companions first abused and then attacked the pair. He proclaimed, “We somehow escaped and reached Amethi Nagar. Our lives were saved when people gathered there.” The perpretrators also fled from the spot.

According to the police, an FIR has been launched at the Amethi police station against Shubham Singh and others under sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentionally insulting someone with the intent to disturb the peace), and 506 (criminal intimidation). Arun Dwivedi, the Station House Officer (SHO) of the Amethi police station, informed that following the filing of the FIR in the case, a further probe is presently being conducted.

Furthermore, another FIR was registered against two Bharatiya Janata Party leaders and eight others for allegedly attacking Shubham Singh. The Congress leader’s case is being looked into by filing a complaint at the Amethi police station, according to Amethi Superintendent of Police (SP) Elamaran, and harsh action would be taken against those found responsible.

According to his statement submitted at the Amethi police station, Satyendra Pratap Singh, the district president of the Bharatiya Janata Party Kisan Morcha along with Vishu Mishra, the district president of the party’s Yuva Morcha and eight other people thrashed him on the night of 25 August with sticks and rods which led to significant injuries.

However, BJP has rubbished the allegations, saying that the FIR filed by Subham Singh shows the desperation of the Congress party after it had lost its bastion of Amethi. “The allegations levelled against our two workers are completely false. At the time of the incident, they were doing their own work. Unnecessarily, their names were added. In the Yogi government, truth will come out after proper investigation,” Durgesh Tripathi, Amethi district BJP president, told The Hindu.

Rajasthan: Students at Mewar University attacked by Kashmiri peers with sharp weapons for celebrating Chandrayaan-3 success, 2 critically injured

An engineering student named Ayush Gupta, from Gulabpur, and his peers were attacked by Kashmiri students for celebrating the successful landing of Chandrayaan 3 at Mewar University at Gangrar in Chittorgarh. The entire country celebrated the groundbreaking success of India’s lunar mission on 23 August and they too rejoiced on the momentous occasion.

However, it didn’t go down well with some other students of the institution. Footage of the alarming episode showed some pupils armed with swords and sticks while other students could be seen running.

Ayush Sharma was having food in the mess when he raised pro-India slogans like Bharat Mata ki Jai and Vande Mataram along with other students when the Vikram lander of the Chandrayaan-3 mission successfully made a soft landing on the lunar surface. Some other students also joined him in the celebrations. But some Kashmiri students present there were not happy with this celebration, and objected to the same.

This led ot an argument between the two groups. But this turned a violent turn when 10 to 12 Kashmiri students assaulted them with sharp weapons to illustrate their displeasure. Ayush Sharma along with another youngster suffered significant injuries as a result. They somehow managed to escape from there after which they were admitted to a hospital in Gangrar from where the former was referred to Udaipur by the doctors.

After this, the Muslim Kashmiri students engaged in sloganeering within the campus and marched around the campus of the institution carrying swords and other weapons. They were joined by outsiders whom the Kashmiri students had called. They can be heard chanting the Islamic slogan of ‘Allah hu Akbar’ in the videos of the incident.

Hindu organisation members also reached the institution after learning about the incident. This resulted in another confrontation between the two groups. The argument escalated between the two communities to the point that a major altercation broke out and more than a dozen individuals were wounded. Stones were reportedly pelted at them by Kashmiri students who chanted offensive slogans against Hindus.

Police arrived at the scene and resolved the conflict after receiving information about the occurrence. A large police presence was deployed outside the university during this time. Security measures are currently in place and order is maintained.

Police said that two First Information Reports have been registered in connection with the case. Gangrar Deputy Superintendent of Police Shrawan Das revealed, “We have arrested 36 (including 20 Kashmiri) students for disturbing the peace. The altercation occurred when the students were queuing up for food at the mess. Some students came at loggerheads.”

He further added, “They then called their respective groups in which six to seven students sustained injuries. Two FIRs have been registered. Additional police have been deployed. The situation is under control.” He mentioned that there are currently 600 Kashmiri students registered at the institution.

According to Harish Gurnani, director of the university, a minor issue has grown into a nuisance. When the senior and junior lined up to dine in the mess, a fight broke out over who would eat first and soon spiralled out of hand. The Kashmiri students shouted slogans out of indignation. The cops have taken some students into custody. The administration of the institution has established a committee and proper action will be taken after conducting an inquiry.

When the family of Ayush learned of the gruesome incident, they travelled to Udaipur and brought him to Gulabpura. He was eventually admitted to Gulabpura Hospital as his condition started to deteriorate once more. Now, preparations are underway to refer him. His family has demanded strict legal action against the culprits.

Ravish Kumar rants about contractors being unpaid, demands accountability but carefully avoids mention of the Delhi govt’s role

On Saturday (August 26), Youtuber Ravish Kumar went on an unhinged rant on social media over unpaid dues to contractors for repair work ahead of the G20 Summit.

While doing so, the ‘journalist’ shrewdly avoided mention of the role of the Delhi government and insinuated that the Centre was somehow at fault. He claimed, “According to the Express report, several G20 contractors have not received payments for several months. They will stop work altogether if they do not receive payments.”

Ravish Kumar, who runs a YouTube channel now, further alleged that the National Capital would remain shut for 3 days for the completion of the repair work. He added that it would hurt the businesses of auto drivers and rickshaw pullers, thereby painting the government as anti-poor.

He claimed that several routes would remain closed and it would take longer to travel. “The impact of such a decision on street vendors and hawkers must be introspected. Will the government compensate them for three days of missed business?” Ravish Kumar again avoided naming the AAP government in Delhi.

He then went about his usual way of virtue signalling the media, with his well-known euphemism of ‘Godi Media.’ In this way, Ravish Kumar succeeded in giving the impression that the Centre had not paid the contractors and was also causing inconvenience for the poor in Delhi.

A quick glance at The Indian Express report cited by the ‘journalist’ turned Youtuber reveals that the payments to the contractors were not made by the Public Works Department (PWD), which is run by the Delhi government.

At the very onset, the report stated, “Contractors under the Public Works Department (PWD) have threatened to stop work if their pending dues are not cleared by Saturday. The Delhi government has said that payments are under process and will be made soon.

Screengrab of the Indian Express report

The role of the Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi government becomes clear at the very start of The Indian Express report. Despite this, Ravish Kumar avoided holding Arvind Kejriwal and his party accountable for the mess.

The report also highlighted that payments for some of the contractors were unpaid for the past 8 months. “We have been raising the matter with officials and even the (PWD) minister for several months. For how many months can we buy materials on loan? How are we supposed to pay labourers and staff and finish work in time?” a contractor had said.

A contractor named Surinder Singh informed that his daily operational cost is around ₹1-2 lakhs and that the PWD has not cleared his pending dues of ₹15-16 crores. About 300-400 contractors have been affected by the laxity of the Delhi government, who are forced to work without payments.

As such, Ravish Kumar must henceforth explicitly mention the government creating hurdles ahead of the G20 summit instead of being fixated on the media. The ‘journalist’ turned YouTuber now must seek compensation not only for the contractors but the vendors, street hawkers, and auto drivers from the Kejriwal government.

Hindu temple named “Sabka Mandir” opened by the Indian community in Taiwan

0

In what is being touted as a first, a Hindu temple named “Sabka Mandir” has been opened in Taiwan reflecting the growth of deep cultural ties between India and the Island nation. The temple has reportedly been built with the help of Indian expatriate Andy Singh Arya, also the owner of a famous eatery in Taipei.

Taking to Facebook, Arya wrote that 2023 was a remarkable year for the first Indian temple in Taiwan. “23 years ago, I was looking for a Hindu temple in Taiwan when I was alone and on dark nights with no hope. I didn’t know Bhagwan would choose me to be a sevak of the first Indian temple in Taiwan (Sabka Mandir). 2023 was a remarkable year for the first Indian temple in Taiwan. Sevak Andy just brought the stairs but the wall is the community that supported for this to happen,” he wrote.

The Temple is home to a Shivlingam, a statue of Vaishno Devi, and statues of Bhagwan Shri Ram and Mata Sita, and His Brother Lakshman ji. Pictures and videos from the opening ceremony showed Indians and Taiwanese people celebrating together. Aartis and bhajans were sung, and devotees blew the Holy Conch Shell at the ceremony.

The development has been welcomed by the Indian community in Taiwan and at home with much fervour. Sana Hashmi, an Indian residing in Taiwan, took to Twitter to celebrate the opening of the temple. She reportedly said, “The establishment of this temple underscores Taiwan’s deep commitment to fostering a harmonious relationship with the Indian community in India.”

Dr. Priya Lalwani Purswaney, the founder of IIT-Indians in Taiwan pointed out the significance of the historic development. “This is a historic moment in India-Taiwan cultural connections. Not only Indians in Taiwan but also Taiwanese friends have been pointing out the need for one. We hope that this auspicious development will bring blessings of peace and happiness to Taiwan,” she said.

India and Taiwan share unofficial ties as the former’s has maintained the status quo on the subject of the United States not recognising Taiwan as a sovereign state.

Both countries established representatives offices in their respective capitals in 1995. The countries maintain active cultural exchanges including film screenings and performing arts. Taiwan’s Foreign Minister Jaushieh Joseph Wu expressed the country’s willingness to expand ties with India and spoke favourably for free trade agreement between the two.

‘BJP conspired Pulwama terror attack to win elections’, claims Uddhav Thackeray citing others, says riots may erupt after Ram Mandir inauguration

On Sunday 27th August 2023, the Shiv Sena UBT leader Uddhav Thackeray held a rally in Hingoli in Maharashtra where he addressed his party workers. During his speech, Uddhav Thackeray made several controversial remarks that echoed the claims of jihadis and Islamists.

Uddhav Thackeray said that the Pulwama terrorist attack was done by BJP. He cited Jammu and Kashmir’s former lieutenant governor Satyapal Malik and TMC MP Mahua Moitra while making this statement.

Uddhav Thackeray’s speech at Hingoli

Uddhav Thackeray continued, “Mahua Moitra is an MP from Bengal. Satyapal Malik is the former lieutenant governor of Jammu and Kashmir. He had also been a close aide of Modi in the past. So this is not my opinion. This is told by both of them. They have openly said that these people (BJP) conspired with Pulwama to win the elections in 2019. So they can descend this much low to gain power.”

Uddhav Thackeray added, “Another possibility is being spoken about and all the Hindus in the country should pay close attention to it. Now it has been exposed that the attack by Pakistan was a false thing. They may also promise a house on the moon. What more can be done then? It is more dangerous. Look at the Ram Mandir being built in which they have played no role. I say no role because, they did not demolish Babri mosque, they did not give an order of building the Ram Mandir – it was given by the court, and money was given by the people and the government exchequer. But they will hold a program of inaugurating the Ram Mandir on 1st January 2024. At that time, as told by Satyapal Malik and Mahua Moitra, they will call thousands and lakhs of Hindus to Ayodhya from all over the country. They will bring them to Ayodhya by bus and train. And when after the program, these trains and buses will go back to their respective places, they will orchestrate attacks on these buses and trains while they pass from the Muslim settlements so that riots can be initiated throughout the country. This is not my opinion. It is the opinion of these two leaders. I am just telling it to you.”

The former Maharashtra CM further said, “In the campaigning of the upcoming general elections, PM Modi may promise you that he will give you a house on the moon. This is how they (BJP) politicise the success of Chandrayaan. You also know that it is not possible to make a house there but you will think of it at least for a moment. You will wonder what if you get this house on the moon. In reality, you will not get anything on the moon, but you will have to mortgage the house you own now. This is the first possibility. And there is also another thing which is very important.”

It is notable that on February 14, 2019, a convoy of vehicles carrying Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel to Srinagar via National Highway 44 came under a suicide bombing attack.

A 22-year-old Adil Ahmad Dar, a Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorist from Kakapora in Jammu and Kashmir, rammed his explosive-laden vehicle into a bus carrying the CRPF personnel. 40 of our jawans were martyred.

While India was still mourning the attack, a video of Adil went viral on social media. Recorded prior to the suicide bombing, it gave out a clear message that the Pulwama attack was not just limited to the Indian State but was also an act of vengeance against the Hindu majority.

In the video, the Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist dehumanised the Hindu community as ‘Hindustan ka Napak mushrikon‘ (impure idol worshippers of India) and ‘Gae ka Peshab Peene Walon’ (cow piss drinkers).

It has been 4 years since that incident and Adil Ahmad Dar’s video resulted in serving more than one purpose. Besides striking terror in Hindus, it gave new ammunition to the Indian liberals to abuse, belittle and dehumanise the community. Uddhav Thackeray has been among these liberals for a long time now.

In October 2020, former Hindutva icon Uddhav Thackeray hit a new low after he attacked the BJP with crass, Hinduphobic references to Gaumutra (cow urine) and gobar (cow dung). The Shiv Sena supremo made derogatory remarks while addressing the annual Shiv Sena Dusshera Mela.

“Those who cast aspersions on our government, themselves have their mouths filled with cow-dung and Gaumutra. They have been trying to sling cow dung at us, in a desperate hope that it will stick but it did not because we are clean. It is them whose mouth and clothes reek of Gaumutra and cow-dung,” Uddhav Thackeray was heard saying. Now, by insinuating that the Pulwama terror attack was conspired by the BJP, Uddhav Thackeray has again shown that he is not against those who disrespect Hindu sentiments.

‘Fraud therapy, unethical’: Sagarika Ghose gets slammed by doctors for promoting her ENT doctor son’s cosmetic procedure as weight loss program

0

On 27th August, controversial “journalist” and author Sagarika Ghose posted a tweet where she promoted her son’s dubious weight loss practice, after which doctors slammed her on social media. In a now-deleted tweet, Ghose promoted her son Ishan Sardesai’s clinic, which offers a weight loss program that uses an Endospheres machine.

In the tweet, Sagarika Ghose wrote, “Have worked on my fitness goals for years, but the Endospheres machine at Dr Ishan Sardesai’s clinic (look for him on Insta) make the weight loss & fitness journey that much easier.” Interestingly, she did not disclose that Ishan is hers and Rajdeep Sardesai’s son and that he is actually an ENT doctor.

Now-deleted post by Sagarika Ghose. Source: X

The LinkedIn profile of Ishan Sardesai says that he is an ENT and Aesthetic Surgeon. After doing MBBS from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, he did masters degree in ENT Surgery from the same college in 2022. After that, he has done fellowship programs in advanced facial aesthetics and hair transplant surgery. There is no record of him doing any medical program on weight management, and no such qualification is mentioned on the website of his clinic, The Face Centre.

Soon after she posted on X, several doctors chipped in and slammed her for advertising the dubious weight loss practice. Ghose was questioned if Ishan, who is an ENT specialist, has any training in weight management and more. Furthermore, doctors raised a red flag as the weight loss therapy using the Endospheres machine is not an approved program by the FDA.

Dr Rajesh Parekh wrote, “Beware of endospheres therapy for weight loss. This unproven treatment claims to correct “imbalances” but provides no solid science. No evidence from clinical trials exists showing endospheres lead to weight loss. Vague theories about polarities and frequencies lead to unsupported marketing claims.”

“With no FDA oversight and reliance on anecdotes, it lacks the hallmarks of an evidence-based treatment and instead raises red flags of a possible pseudoscientific fraud. The lack of transparency about risks and side effects is concerning. Don’t waste your money on endospheres for weight loss. Stick to tried and true methods like improved nutrition, exercise, and behavioural counselling under medical guidance. Promoting endospheres as a miracle cure without proof borders on unethical. Demand rigorous research and FDA approval before using this treatment. Don’t become victim to clever marketing of an unproven method. Weight loss promises should be backed by science, not just testimonials,” he added.

When Dr Nihar Desai questioned why an ENT specialist was using the machine for a weight loss program, Ghose blocked him.

Calling out Ghose, Dr Ruchir Mishra said, “What a shame that Sagrika Ghose has to stoop to such levels only to prop her son up? How evidence-based is this modality that you are promoting? And what does an ENT Surgeon anyway have to do with weight loss therapy? Where is the NMC now?

Dr Shikhar Ganjoo questioned, “Why in the world is a guy with ENT training doing this rubbish stuff? Is he even a doctor?”

As per the information available on the internet, the Endospheres Therapy Body Shaping Machine consists of a roller device composed of 55 silicon spheres that generate low-frequency mechanical vibrations. It has been claimed that these vibrations help in improving the appearance of cellulite, skin tone and laxity. However, when we tried to find information on it via Google Scholar, we could not spot any genuine article that specifically talked about it. It is unclear if such machines work. It is advised to consult a specialist doctor before going for any such treatment and choose only those that a government body has approved. OpIndia takes no responsibility for the claims made by Sagarika Ghose or replies made by the doctors about the machine and its usage on social media.

The website of Ishan Sardesai’s clinic lists 4 categories of services offered, which include Endospheres Therapy. The other three are Aesthetic Treatments, Hair Treatments, and ENT Therapeutic services, and he has qualifications for these categories. However, the website does not advertise Endospheres Therapy as a weight loss and fitness program as claimed by Sagarikha Ghosh. It describes it as a skin tightening procedure, a beauty enhancement therapy, not fitness. The website says that “Endospheres Therapy is a non-invasive body treatment that uses low-frequency sound waves that generate controlled mechanical stress to penetrate deep into the layers of skin in the targeted area, reducing cellulite and tightening the skin.”

Therefore, Endospheres Therapy is actually a cosmetic procedure that gives the appearance of a fit body by tightening skin and the underlying muscle, but it is not an actual fitness program. Notably, Dr Ishan Sardesai has not even claimed it to be a weight loss and fitness program, and it is clear from the website of The Face Centre that it is a cosmetic procedure. But Sagarika Ghosh wrongly claimed it to be a weight loss and fitness program, after which she was forced to delete the tweet.

Current surface temperature on the lunar south pole is 50°C: ISRO releases first set of data sent by Chandrayaan-3 mission

0

On Sunday noon (27 August), the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) released the first set of data regarding the Moon’s thermophysical properties. The current set of data has been obtained from the ChaSTE (Chandra’s Surface Thermophysical Experiment) payload which is onboard the Vikram lander.

As per the official information shared by ISRO, the ChaSTE payload is being used to understand the thermal behaviour of the lunar surface. Evidently, ChaSTE measures the temperature profile of the lunar topsoil around the pole. For this purpose, it has 10 individual temperature sensors mounted on it.

Notably, the ChaSTE payload is developed by a team led by the Space Physics Laboratory (SPL), VSSC in collaboration with Physical Research Laboratory (PRL), Ahmedabad.

Taking to X, ISRO shared the information along with a graph. The post states, “ChaSTE (Chandra’s Surface Thermophysical Experiment) measures the temperature profile of the lunar topsoil around the pole, to understand the thermal behaviour of the moon’s surface. It has a temperature probe equipped with a controlled penetration mechanism capable of reaching a depth of 10 cm beneath the surface. The probe is fitted with 10 individual temperature sensors.”

The graph attached in the post displays the temperature variations of the lunar surface or near-surface at various depths with temperature extremes ranging from -10°C at a depth of 8 cm (-80 mm) below the surface to 60°C above the surface.

As per the measurement taken by ChaSTE, the temperature on the surface is 50°C, and it goes up sharply with the increase in altitude, which is 60°C just 2 cm above the surface. It is notable that the south pole on the moon is having a lunar day now, which is equivalent to 14 Earth days. As the region is getting sunlight at present, its temperature is high.

As per ISRO, this is the first temperature profile for the lunar south pole. The space agency added that further detailed observations are underway.

Following the successful soft landing at the designated landing site later named ShivShakti Point, all five ISRO payloads on the lander and rover have begun in-situ experiments. ISRO has stated that their performance so far has been normal.

Earlier in the day, the chairman of ISRO, S Somanath confirmed that the lander and rover of Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft are very healthy and all five instruments of the spacecraft have been switched on.

He conveyed that all the desired experiments will be completed before the 3rd of September. He added that the spacecraft has to be tested for different modes in order to have the “best picture ever of the Moon”.

As per reports, data from the payload on the propulsion module has started to arrive at the ground stations. It is expected that ISRO will constantly make announcements regarding its lunar explorations once it completes the initial analysis of the data.

Meanwhile, commenting on the new names of the landing site, the ISRO chief said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi explained the meaning of ‘Shiv Shakti’ in a manner that suits everybody. He added that the Prime Minister also named the Chandrayaan-2 touchdown point as ‘Tiranga’ and that both ‘Tiranga’ and ‘Shiv Shakti’ are Indian-sounding names.

He added that PM Modi has a prerogative of naming these points given the office he holds.

Uttar Pradesh: Zaheer poses as Rahul to lure and rape a Hindu minor girl, gets arrested after his wife revealed his original identity

A case of love jihad has come to light from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh where a man named Zaheer posed as Rahul to lure a minor Hindu girl into a love trap and went on to rape the girl. The victim girl came to know about the original identity of the culprit when his wife Rukhsar Bano contacted the victim and told her about Zaheer being the real name of Rahul. The accused then pressurised the victim girl to convert to Islam. He threatened to make the obscene photographs of the victim minor girl viral if she did not convert. The accused Zaheer was arrested after a complaint was lodged with the police.

The 17-year-old victim had lodged a complaint at the Panki police station in Kanpur. She told the police that she used to work in a factory in Govind Nagar. A boy named ‘Rahul’, a resident of Hamirpur also worked there and she became friends with him.

The victim further said that ‘Rahul’ took her to his room one day. There he mixed something in a cold drink and gave her to drink before raping her. He assured the victim that he loved her and would marry her.

According to the victim, one day she received a call from a woman named Rukhsar Bano. According to the victim girl, Rukhsar Bano said, “The real name of the person you think of as Rahul is Zaheer and he is married. I am his wife.”

The victim reported the matter to her family members and cut off contact with Rahul alias Zaheer. Zaheer became displeased when the victim ceased communication. In response, he initiated contact with the victim using various phone numbers.

The victim said in her complaint, “Zaheer is threatening me to change my religion. He said that four marriages are allowed in Islam, so you convert and marry me. If you don’t marry me, I will make your videos viral on social media.” Due to this threat by Zaheer, the victim stopped going to work.

Panki ACP Tej Bahadur Singh said, “An FIR was lodged against the accused Zaheer. Taking immediate action, the accused has been arrested. A case was registered against him under relevant sections and he was presented in the court. Further action is being taken in the case.”
