Gujarat: Siraj Bukhari booked under POCSO after he lures and molests Hindu minor girl, father of the victim says he forced the girl to observe fast in Ramzan

A complaint has been filed against a man named Siraj Bukhari, accusing him of luring and kidnapping a minor Hindu girl in Wankaner, Morbi, Gujarat. Siraj, who is married and a father, allegedly lured the girl under the pretence of getting snacks. He took her to the market yard where he molested her and then fled the scene, leaving her behind. The police have registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and are currently investigating the matter in order to apprehend the accused.

In the complaint lodged with the police, the father of the minor girl stated that upon returning home from work, he discovered that his daughter was missing. Upon inquiring, he was informed by witnesses that a Muslim youth had taken her away. The father promptly contacted his daughter, and it was at this point that Siraj Bukhari released the minor near their house before fleeing the scene. Subsequently, family members and local residents gathered in response to the incident.

According to the complaint, the minor’s father mentioned that the accused had not only lured his daughter but also compelled her to observe a fast during the month of Ramzan. He explained that when the parents encouraged her to eat timely meals at home during Ramzan, she would respond with “I am not hungry” and continue fasting.

Based on the victim’s father’s complaint, the Wankaner police registered a case against Siraj Munna Bukhari under relevant sections of the POCSO Act and initiated legal proceedings.

A similar case had come to light in the past

A previous incident in Morbi involved a Muslim youth coercing a Hindu girl to observe fasting during Ramadan. Towards the end of April, a case was registered regarding this matter. In the complaint filed by the victim’s mother, she stated that a youth named Mustafa Dalwani had not only threatened to make photos and videos of her daughter go viral but also physically assaulted her. Additionally, it was discovered that the accused, Mustafa, had attempted to convert the victim. During the previous month of Ramzan, he had compelled her to fast and sent religious content via Snapchat, instructing her to read and follow it.

Donkeys to the rescue: Cash-strapped Pakistan approves export of donkey hides to China in an attempt to revive its economy

Earlier this week, Pakistan approved the export of various goods to China including donkey hides. As per the reports, the government’s cabinet approved the signing of four protocols with China for the export of cattle, dairy products, chillies, and donkey hides from Pakistan.

The reports further claimed that the protocols for the export of donkey hides were signed by the country cabinet with the intention of controlling the industry and boosting the trade. “The main object of the protocols was to regulate the export of these products to China,” Pakistan PM’s office said. As per the reports, the donkey hides would be transferred to China for processing.

It should be recalled that the four protocols that Pakistan would sign with China earlier received permission from the Ministry of Law and Justice. Further, the Ministry of Commerce had informed the Senate Standing Committee on Commerce in the year 2022, that China had expressed interest in importing donkeys and dogs from Pakistan.

Details suggest that Zeeshan Khanzada served as the head of the Senate Standing Committee on Commerce’s meeting in Islamabad, which was held to acquire a status report on imports and exports.

With the exports of these items to China, cash-starved Pakistan will be hoping to get a much-needed boost to its economy.

China has a strong interest in donkeys because they utilise the animal’s skin to make E’jiao or donkey-hide gelatin, which is said to have medicinal characteristics and has historically been used to nourish the blood and boost the immune system.

As per legend, in the 2nd century BC, a royal concubine apparently used E’jiao to prevent her miscarriage and her son became the emperor of China. E’jiao is made by boiling donkey skin.

China reportedly had the world’s largest donkey herd until about 3 decades ago. However, the growing demand for E’jiao saw most donkeys in China being skinned and boiled, and it now faces an acute donkey shortage.

Donkeys are used widely for transportation in Pakistan. They are part of the local culture, with donkey cart races being a popular sport.

With 5.7 million animals, Pakistan has the third-largest population of donkeys in the world and has previously transported the animals to China.

Madhya Pradesh: PhonePe warns Congress of legal action over posters targeting CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan

Online payments platform PhonePe has protested the use of its name and logo on posters attacking Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in the midst of a fierce poster battle between the governing Bharatiya Janata Party and the opposition Congress in the election-bound state. Additionally, the business threatened legal action and urged the party to remove the posters.

The first posters referring to Kamal Nath, the president of the Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee, as “Corruption Nath” and “Wanted” appeared in Bhopal on June 23. They included QR codes and stated that he is sought after in a number of frauds in the state. They read, “Scam se bachne ke liye scan kare (scan to prevent scams).”

Later on that day, rival posters attacking Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan appeared on many city walls. Videos of the same that appeared in Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Sehore, Rewa, Mandsaur, Ujjain, Bhind, Balaghat, Budhni, and other places were shared on Twitter by the state unit of the Congress. The incumbent chief minister represents Budhni in the assembly.

Hindi-language posters featuring his image and a QR code read, “50% laao, PhonePe kaam karao (pay 50% commission to get your work done over phone)”.

PhonePe “objected to the unauthorized usage of its brand logo by any third party, whether political or non-political.” It added that any unauthorized use of the logo would invite “legal action” and demanded Congress take down the posters.

BJP’s reaction to the posters

Narottam Mishra, the home minister of Madhya Pradesh and a prominent leader of the party, claimed that the Congress was participating in “dirty politics”  after the posters were plastered across several locations in the state.

He further denied that the BJP was behind the creation or distribution of posters charging senior Congressman Kamal Nath with corruption. He asserted, “BJP practises clean politics and does not engage in dirty tricks like Congress.”

He proclaimed, “The public knows that you (Congress) are blaming others to hide your corruption. FIR has been registered in Burhanpur, Chhindwara, and will take action against it.” The Congress had previously announced that the Shivraj Singh Chouhan posters were retribution for the Kamal Nath posters.

In the meantime, a BJP member from Gwalior has contacted the local police regarding a Shivraj Singh Chouhan poster that has been painted on the walls close to the city’s train station. Rajesh Singh Chandel, Superintended of Police, Gwalior informed, “A BJP worker has given a complaint that his party is being defamed, and based on that a case has been registered against an unknown person and an investigation is underway.”

Notably, elections for the 230 seats in the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly are expected to take place in or before November of this year.

Aurangzeb Lane in Lutyens’ Delhi renamed as Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Lane, 8 years after Aurangzeb Road was renamed

Eight years after renaming Aurangzeb Road in Delhi to Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Road, the New Delhi Municipal Council has now approved the renaming of Aurangzeb Lane to Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Lane. The lane is adjoining the road in Lutyens’ Delhi, connecting the Abdul Kalam Road with Prithvi Raj Road.

In August 2015, Aurangzeb Road was renamed to Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Road by the NDMC.

NDMC vice chairperson Satish Upadhyay said that a proposal for this change was placed before a meeting of the council on Wednesday and approved. “Aurangzeb Road was renamed as Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Road in 2015. But this lane was still known as Aurangzeb Lane and its change was pending. The council has now decided to approve the renaming of this lane on similar lines,” Upadhyay said,

Recounting the several temples destroyed by the Mughal jihadi tyrant, NDMC vice chairman Satish Upadhyaya said there shouldn’t be any road named after Aurangzeb. “Aurangzeb Lane has been renamed as Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Lane. Aurangzeb tried to destroy the Indian culture so there should not be any road in the name of Aurangzeb.”

He said that Aurangzeb destroyed around 1000 Hindu temples, including Somnath, Kashi Vishwanath, Trilokeshwar etc.

“An agenda item was placed before the Council to consider renaming ‘Aurangzeb Lane’ under the NDMC area as ‘Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Lane’ in terms of clause (a) of sub-section (1) of section 231 of the New Delhi Municipal Act, 1994,” NDMC Vice Chairman Satish Upadhyay said. The agenda says, “The Council has approved the renaming of Aurangzeb Lane as Dr A.P.J Abdul Kalam Lane. To respect the sentiments of people, the need to recognize and honour great men and women of our times, roads/ streets/ institutions have been re-named in the past.”

The issue of renaming the lane was raised in several meetings of the council, and finally, it has been approved.

The decision was made in the NDMC council meeting was hailed by the BJP.

On 31 July 2015, the then-BJP MP Maheish Girri had written a letter to Prime Minister Modi demanding the renaming of Aurangzeb road to Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Road, following which the road was renamed.

The decision comes amid several attempts to flare tensions across the country by glorifying Aurangzeb.

‘He is a political opportunist who wants to keep the pot boiling’: BJP fumes at Rahul Gandhi over Manipur visit

Bharatiya Janata Party IT Cell chief Amit Malviya again launched a scathing attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his visit to violence-hit Manipur and said that he’s just a political opportunist.

The Congress leader will be in Manipur on June 29 and 30 during which he is scheduled to visit relief camps and interact with civil society representatives in Imphal and Churachandpur. The BJP IT cell chief in a tweet said that Rahul Gandhi is “no messiah of peace just a political opportunist, who wants to keep the pot boiling.”

Malviya said that not once did the Congress leader visit Manipur’s Churachandpur from 2015-17 to meet the victims of ethnic violence that raged following Congress CM Okram Ibobi Singh Govt’s decision to pass three Bills.

“Not once did Rahul Gandhi visit Churachandpur in Manipur between 2015-17, to meet the victims of ethnic violence, that raged following Congress CM Okram Ibobi Singh Govt’s decision to pass three Bills – the Protection of Manipur People’s Bill, 2015, Manipur Land Revenue and Land Reforms (Seventh Amendment) Bill, 2015, and Manipur Shops and Establishments (Second Amendment) Bill, 2015, which were seen by the people of Churachandpur district, comprising mostly of Paites and Kukis, as ‘anti-Tribal’, and a ‘conspiracy’ by the majority Meitei community to grab Tribal land,” Malviya said in his tweet.

He also said that nine young men were shot dead and the protesting communities refused to cremate them for two long years adding that his visit to Manipur is not borne out of concern for the people but his own selfish political agenda.
“Nine young men were shot dead and the protesting communities refused to cremate them for two long years. Why didn’t Rahul Gandhi visit Manipur then? He is no messiah of peace, just a political opportunist who wants to keep the pot boiling,” the tweet read.

“His visit to Manipur is not borne out of concern for people but his own selfish political agenda. There is a reason no one trusts either him or the Congress,” Malviya alleged.

Earlier, Malviya in his tweets said that Rahul Gandhi is dangerous and more dangerous are the people who are pulling his strings.

“Rahul Gandhi is dangerous and playing an insidious game. More dangerous are people who are pulling strings of Raga like Sam P, staunchly anti-India. They leave no stone unturned to defame India overseas, just to embarrass PM Modi”, Malviya said in a tweet as per the FIR.

Following his tweet, an FIR has been registered against him in Bengaluru’s High Grounds Police station by Congress leader Ramesh Babu.

Sweden: Man shreds and burns Quran outside a mosque in Stockholm on Eid holiday after court grants permission

After Swedish police authorized the demonstration, a man reportedly tore up and burned a Quran outside Stockholm’s central mosque on June 28 in a move that could enrage the Muslim community. The individual was eventually accused by police of inciting hatred against a national or ethnic group.

The incident is expected to further complicate its relationship with Turkey. Sweden has offended Ankara by holding a number of protests in the country against Islam and in support of Kurdish rights. Notably, Turkey’s support is essential for the former to become a member of the crucial NATO alliance.

Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine the previous year, Sweden applied to join the powerful organization. However, coalition participant Turkey has slowed down the process and alleged that Sweden is harboring individuals it regards as terrorists and asked to hand them over.

The foreign minister of Turkey, Hakan Fidan, denounced the incident and said it was wrong to permit anti-Islamic demonstrations in the guise of freedom of expression. “To condone such atrocious acts is to be complicit,” he charged.

The deputy spokesperson for the US State Department told reporters during a daily briefing that burning religious manuscripts is “disrespectful and hurtful”. Vedant Patel stated, “What might be legal is certainly not necessarily appropriate.” However, he persisted and pleaded with Turkey and Hungary to swiftly approve Sweden’s NATO acceptance treaty. “We believe Sweden has fulfilled its commitments under the trilateral memorandum,” he added.

About 200 spectators watched as one of the two participants tore up pages of a copy of the Quran, used them to wipe his shoes, and then put bacon inside before torching the book while the second one was speaking into a loudspeaker. Meanwhile, one man was detained by police as he attempted to throw a rock, while others of the attendees screamed Alla Hu Akbar in Arabic in opposition to the burning whereas another shouted “Let it burn” in support of the protest.

While Swedish police have recently turned down multiple applications for anti-Quran protests, judges have overturned the same and asserted that it violated the right to free speech. In a press conference on Wednesday, Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson emphasized he would not conjecture about the effect of the protests on the country’s NATO process.

He proclaimed that police should decide whether or not to allow such occurrences and remarked, “It’s legal but not appropriate.” Mahmoud Khalfi, the mosque’s director and imam, noted yesterday that representatives of the mosque were unhappy with the police’s decision to allow the protest on the Muslim festival of Eid al-Adha.

“The mosque suggested to the police to at least divert the demonstration to another location, which is possible by law, but they chose not to do so,” he voiced in a statement. He estimated that up to 10,000 people attend the annual Eid celebrations at the mosque in Stockholm.

A Danish far-right politician burnt a copy of the Quran next to the Turkish embassy in the country’s capital prompting Turkey to halt discussions with Sweden about its NATO membership in late January.

Prior to Eid-Al-Adha, on June 28, the Swedish Police gave one Salwan Momika permission to burn the Quran at a demonstration outside the largest mosque in Stockholm after a Swedish court struck down the police’s ban on Quran-burning demonstrations.

Two other requests, one by a private citizen and the other by an organisation, for similar activities that include Quran burning were turned down by police in February outside the Turkish and Iraqi embassies in Stockholm. The appeals court concluded in June that the protests should have been permitted. It ruled, “The order and security problems that the police had cited had not been clearly connected to the planned event or its immediate vicinity.”

Chhattisgarh: A portion of 16 crore under-construction bridge collapses after rainfall, watch video

A portion of a 16.4 crore under-construction bridge collapsed and was washed away in Chhattisgarh on June 28. Residents had gone to the bridge to examine the water level of the river below it after four days of nonstop rain and were standing extremely close to the structure when it fell. There were no security preparations in place and no one including the engineer, manager, or contractor was present there.

However, according to local officials, no concrete had been poured and the collapsed structure merely received “staging and shuttering” from the contractor. They stated that the latter will be sent a show-cause notice. The vial video captures the bridge starting to sag before it collapses into a heap and is swept away by the river. As it fell, locals could be seen standing close to its edges.

The 400-meter bridge is being constructed at Sagni Ghat in the Durg district to link the villages of Silli and Nankatti. The ghat is called Triveni Sangam because it is where the Shivnath, Aamner, and Sagni rivers converge. Its construction which started on November 11, 2020, was scheduled to be finished on April 11, 2022.

Four days of nonstop rain in the Durg division, according to officials, caused the flow of 24,000 cusecs of water from the Mogra reservoir into the Shivnath river. They claimed that the bridge gave way because it could not withstand the pressure of the increased water flow. According to DK Maheshwari, executive engineer for the Department of bridges, the contractor Amar Infrastructure was supposed to take down the building before the monsoon season, but it didn’t.

He mentioned, “These instructions are issued to all contractors ahead of the rainy season. Despite this, the contractor had not dismantled the structure at the Sagni Ghat bridge. Only the staging and shuttering have been washed away. No concrete had been poured. The damage, of around 12 lakh, will be borne by the contractor and a show-cause notice will also be issued.” When questioned about the reason for the bridge’s construction delay, he responded that problems with land acquisition were to blame.

The staging and centering structure of a portion of the bridge, as per the PWD’s bridge building division, is in ruins, but the remaining portions were undamaged.

Bihar bridge collapse

In the Kishanganj district of the Bihar, a bridge being built on the Mechi River caved in recently. The six-leg bridge bowed in the middle after one of its legs sank. In addition, eight bridges in Bihar have been destroyed by corruption in the past year. Previously, on June 4, a bridge over the Ganga in Bhagalpur district that had cost Rs 1700 crores to construct, crumbled and plunged into the water. On the other hand, on May 16 of last month, four hours after the concrete had been poured, an under-construction bridge in the Purnia district went down.

Two persons were hurt earlier on March 19 when a road bridge from the British era fell in the state’s Saran district. On February 19, a bridge that was still being built at Bihta Sarmeta in the Patna district collapsed. An overloaded truck caused an iron bridge to cave in earlier this year, on January 16, at Kusheshwar in the Darbhanga district.

An earlier fatality was caused by the collapse of a four-lane road bridge at Vena in the district of Nalanda on November 18, 2022. On June 9 of the same year, Simti Bakhtiyarpur in Saharsa district witnessed a similar catastrophe. Here, a section of the bridge gave way, injuring three workers. The 136-year-old Patna bridge fell at the same time on May 20 of last year as a result of excessive rain.

Widespread violence in France following police shooting of a teenager – All you need to know

On June 27 (local time), violence broke out in France, and protesters set public and private property on fire. The violence continued on the second night leading to multiple reports of arson where protesters set private cars on fire and targeted police stations. The violence in France erupted after a teenager was allegedly shot dead by the cops during a traffic stop. As per reports, around 2,000 riot police have been called in the suburbs located around Paris. The teenager who got killed has been identified as Nahel M.

Reportedly, Nahel was stopped by the police and was asked to show documents. Nahel tried to flee the scene, during which shots were fired. One of the bullets hit Nahel in the chest, and he died on the spot. Initially, police said the shots were fired in self-defence as Nahel allegedly tried to mow the police personnel down with his car. However, eyewitness uploaded a video on social media where cops were seen standing on the side of the vehicle at a safe distance from the car. Reports suggest that Nehal was previously convicted of failing to stop at a signal and driving without a license.

The protests started in the western suburb of Nanterre, where Nahel was killed. It quickly spread across other regions, including the Hauts-de-Seine and the eastern city of Dijon. Reports suggest that a group of protesters set a bus on fire after ordering the passengers to get off the bus. The incident took place in the Essonne region.

Another arson incident occurred in the southern city of Toulouse, where several cars were reportedly set on fire. Police and firefighters that responded to the reports of arson were attacked with projectiles. The police have arrested at least 77 people for rioting across the country.

On June 27, President of France Emmanuel Macron issued a statement over the incident. He said, “A teenager was killed. That is inexplicable and unforgivable. Nothing can justify the death of a young person.” He further added that the incident had moved the entire nation and expressed respect and affection for the victim’s family.

Reacting to the incident, Prime Minister of France Elisabeth Borne condemned “the shocking images… of an [police] intervention that clearly doesn’t respect the rules of engagement of our security forces”. Furthermore, she hoped that the absolute demand for the truth would allow calm to prevail over anger.

On the other hand, opposition leader Marine Le Pen called Macron’s comments excessive. She added she was astonished at “the swiftness of this stance, notably from the president”.

Alliance Police Nationale union has also criticised the President for his remarks. In a statement, the union said it was inconceivable to see the President react like that. They said, “[The President], like certain politicians, artists, and others, should not flout the separation of powers and the independence of the judiciary by condemning our colleagues even before [justice] has been pronounced”. They added, “Like any citizen, [the officer] has the right to the presumption of innocence.”

In the aftermath of the incident, a police officer has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Reacting to the riots, internal minister Gerald Darmanin said that 23 police personnel were reportedly injured in the violence. The rioters burnt down at least 40 cars during the ensuing violence.

Uttar Pradesh: Journalist Kashif Arsalaan claims police prohibited Bakrid Namaz in Muzaffarnagar, police clarify calling it a baseless allegation

On 29th June 2023, Muslims in India are celebrating Bakrid. Attempts are being made by Islamists and Muslim journalists to portray how Muslims in India are not allowed to peacefully enjoy their festival which is celebrated by killing an innocent goat. One such attempt was made by a journalist named Kashif Arsalaan who peddled lies saying that police were not permitting the Muslims in Muzaffarnagar of Uttar Pradesh to offer namaz on the occasion of Eid. The Muzaffarnagar police have debunked this claim and clarified that this is false and baseless news.

Kashif Arsalaan posted a seven-second video snippet in which police are seen directing Muslims to go in a particular direction. In the caption of this video, he wrote, “Uttar Pradesh – Muzaffarnagar, Eid prayer is at 6:30, but the local people allege that the police is preventing them from entering the Idgah since 6 o’clock.”

Giving a rebuttal to this false claim, Muzaffarnagar police replied to this tweet from their official Twitter handle. The Muzaffarnagar police wrote in their reply, “Rebuttal- The allegation mentioned in the tweet is false and baseless. No worshiper was stopped by the police from offering Namaz. The case pertains to the Shamli stand Idgah located in the Kotwali Nagar area, where people were informed by the police to offer namaz in other mosques as the Idgah was completely filled with people.”

Like every year, Bakrid in India is witnessing controversy around Muslims imposing their cruel customs on innocent neighbourhoods. In the Mira Road area near Mumbai metropolitan region, one Mohsin Khan took 2 goats in his flat in the JP Infra Apartment breaking the rules of the society. Residents of the society opposed him and he had to take the goats away. 60 goats were found in the parking lot of the Nathani Heights building in Mumbai. These goats were brought for slaughter on the occasion of Bakrid. The Hindu Jain community in the society opposed it and the Bombay high court prohibited any slaughter in the residential complex.

Uttar Pradesh: Farhana shot and hacked to pieces by brothers Salman, Faman, Noman and Meherban for marrying a ‘lower caste Muslim’

On Wednesday, June 28, four brothers in the Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh, killed their own sister in cold blood. According to reports, the brothers of the deceased woman identified as Farhana were angry ever since she had married her boyfriend Shahid, who was reportedly from a ‘lower caste.’ Prima facie the case appears to be that of a suspected honour killing.

The incident happened in the district’s Alipur Aterna village of the Budhana Kotwali area, wherein the accused shot their sister Farhana in broad daylight and hacked her with a sharp weapon before fleeing the scene.

The accused have been identified as Salman, Faman, Noman and Meherban. The police have registered a case based on a complaint filed by Farhana’s brother-in-law. Circle Officer (CO) Vinay Gautam, reached the village with his team as soon as they got the information of the crime. The body of the deceased was sent for post-mortem. The police formed two teams to search for the accused.

According to the police, the deceased woman Farhana was the daughter of a village local named Jamshed Pathan. She had 8 brothers. Two years ago Farhana married a youth named Shahid. Shahid belonged to the Faqir caste. Farhana’s brothers were disapproving of their relationship. On August 6, 2021, Farhana ran away from her house and married Shahid in court. The duo started living separately in Muzaffarnagar.

On June 7, 2023, Farhana and Sahid returned to their village hoping that Farhana’s family would have forgiven them by now, given that a lot of time had passed since she went against the family’s wishes and married the love of her life.

She took up a job at a beauty parlour in the vicinity. Farhana’s brothers, however, remained enraged and vindictive. They once threatened to kill the duo if they did not leave the village.

On Wednesday (June 28) evening, when Farhana was returning home from the beauty parlour, her four brothers Salman, Faman, Noman and Meherban surrounded her in the middle of the road and shot her. They then attacked their injured sister with a sharp weapon until she fell to the ground and died. As people started gathering, all four accused fled the scene.

Honour killings show the ugly side of our society, OpIndia had earlier reported an incident in which a 19-year-old girl was smothered with a pillow by her brothers Tohid and Danish for reportedly having a love affair with a youth whom the latter did not approve of. The brothers learned that the victim was planning to elope with her boyfriend and marry him in court. They were infuriated over this and killed her
