Chhattisgarh: Clashes in Bastar over death of a tribal woman who had converted to Christianity, locals protest, demand cremation instead of burial

0

Tensions erupted in the village Bhejripadar in tehsil Tokapal of Bastar district, Chhattisgarh this week after the funeral of a Christian woman was protested by local villagers who demanded she should be cremated instead of being buried. The deceased woman, Mate Bekko was a tribal woman earlier who had lately converted her religion to Christianity. The villagers gathered during her funeral and opposed her burial process.

According to the reports, Mate Bekko breathed her last on March 19. The local villagers gathered for her funeral and stated that she shall be cremated and not buried. On refusal by her family members who also had converted their religion to Christianity, the local villagers happened to escalate the protest by pelting stones. The clashes broke when the body of the Christian woman was being taken by her family to the burial ground. After this, the family members of the deceased woman left the body on the street while on their way to the burial ground and returned home.

However, the police was informed by one of the villagers who reached the spot to pacify the matter. The Police officers were also injured as the protesting villagers continued to pelt stones amid the protest. Later, the police controlled the situation and called the family members of the deceased woman to take the body away for burial.

The body was then taken to the private land owned by the woman’s husband, Mosu Bekko for burial on the very same day. The protesters, however, happened to reach there and continued to protest against the burial. They also raised religious slogans and demanded that the body be cremated instead of being buried.

The following day, that is on March 20, the Police took severe cognizance of the protests and deployed heavy police force at the residence of the Bekkos. The woman was then buried in the backyard of her husband’s private land in the presence of the police. Reports mention that the protesters tried to create chaos on the day of the burial, but the police managed to keep them away from the burial ground.

The Inspector General of Police (IG), Bastar issued a statement in the case and said, “A situation of tension arose between the two groups, but the police force and administrative officials present on the occasion managed to counsel the people and end the disagreement. The district collector and senior superintendent of police (SSP) of Bastar have visited the spot. The additional district magistrate and additional SP are present on the spot with the police force. Stringent legal action will be initiated against those trying to disturb the law and order situation.”

Police are visiting communities to warn residents not to believe rumours about religious conversions as tension continues to simmer. The community now has more police presence.

The tribal community existing in Chhattisgarh face the frequent threat of religious conversion to Christianity. Earlier on February 28, the state police had detained around 6 people, including women, for conducting a gathering to forcefully convert people to Christianity. The accused persons had organized a religious gathering under the pretext of curing the diseases of the attendees in the Kurdeg village of Jashpur, Chhattisgarh.

Also, in November last year, a group of non-Christians were seen being encouraged to convert to Christianity by some pastors. The video of the incident had gone viral over the internet in which a group of four evangelists were seen attempting to persuade Hindu villagers to embrace Christianity by offering various kinds of allurements such as money, medicines and the promise to ‘revive’ their deceased family members. The incident was reported from the Rajpur block division in the Balrampur district in Chhattisgarh.

Recently, in January 2023, it was reported that the converted Christians had launched an attack on the tribal sect in Ekda region of Narayanpur. The Christian converts had attacked the tribals with iron rods and wooden sticks. The converts later alleged that the tribals had vandalized the Narayanpur Bangalapara church. Tribals on the other hand stated that the converts had been forcing poor tribals to convert their religion to Christianity.

Khalistani separatist fugitive Amritpal Singh blackmailed women with obscene videos, chatted with married women: Reports

Pro-Khalistan leader Amritpal Singh, who has been on the run from law enforcement authorities, chatted with multiple women and used to blackmail them with obscene videos.

As per a report by India Today TV, the Whatsapp chats and voice notes of the ‘Waris Punjab De’ chief revealed that he was actively seeking casual/ non-serious relationships with single and married women.

Amritpal Singh lamented how women supposedly become too attached to him and justified the idea of extra-marital relationships as long as the marriage in question is unharmed.

He aspired to have commitment free-relationships and regularly had video chats with women on Snapchat. India Today TV was able to access 12 voice recordings of the pro-Khalistan leader.

Amritpal Singh had a long list of women followers, whom he messaged routinely, on Instagram. “So our extra marital is confirmed?… Our honeymoon will be in Dubai,” he wrote in an Instagram chat. He was also seen sending kisses on video calls and talking about ‘small marriages.’

On March 18 this year, the Punjab Police launched a massive crackdown on Amritpal Singh with support from central agencies. Around 150 of his associates and followers have been arrested so far, including actor Daljeet Kalsi who is believed to be his advisor and finance.

Singh managed to escape after a car chase on March 18 and is on the run. Punjab Police revealed Singh has connections to SFJ and ISI. His treasurer received funds from Pakistan. Four of his associates were shifted to Dibrugarh, Assam.

The state govt suspended mobile internet and imposed Section 144 in the state. Internet in some locations is still suspended. NIA reached Punjab to take over the case on March 21 this year.

Cow urine jibe, threats of assault: Pro-Khalistani Dal Khalsa UK member abuses Gujarati Hindu man in London

On March 22 (local time), a video surfaced on social media where a pro-Khalistani Sikh was seen abusing a Gujarati Hindu in London during a protest against the Government of India over the crackdown on Amritpal Singh. The viral video shows a Gujarati Hindu man trying to have a conversation with the protesting pro-Khalistanis when one of them got agitated and started shouting at him.

The agitated pro-Khalistani, who was donning a Khalistani flag and raising ‘Khalistan Zindabad’ slogans, said, “You Gujaratis need to listen carefully. Run away, or I will slap you. If you want to have Langar, have it quietly and leave. Your cow urine-drinking community has created a lot of drama. Tell every Gujarati. If the war starts, this time, we will fight in Gujarat. We will fight inside your house. Now go and drink cow urine.” He later challenged the Gujarati Hindu man to do whatever he could do.”

The abusive man in the video has been identified as Dal Khalsa UK member Gurcharan Singh. He is an active member of the pro-Khalistan organisation and is often seen protesting against India. Stop Hindu Hate Advocacy Network (SHHAN) wrote a detailed thread on Gurcharan.

Earlier, Gurcharan was seen with designated Khalistani terrorists. SHHAN posted a photograph of Gurcharan with Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF) terrorist Paramjit Singh Pamma who is on the National Investigation Agency’s (NIA) most-wanted list.

In another video, Gurcharan was seen protesting against India.

In 2018, he was caught on camera by Republic saying China, Pakistan, and Maoists were funding Khalistani groups’ activities. Furthermore, he admitted to having funded Aam Aadmi Party in the 2017 Assembly Elections. “Look at Punjab. AAP won the elections. They won 95 seats. We were on the ground. Campaigning for the party. We funded the party to see how a campaign makes a difference. And it does make a difference. People voted for AAP. They did not win because of the EVM,” Gurcharan Singh said on camera. He claimed the aim behind funding and support to AAP was not the party’s victory but to disrupt the political forces in Punjab. Gurcharan had sided with China and said the idea of having a Dal Khalsa office in China was to assure them of support if they took over Sikkim.

In another video, he said there is no place for Indian Tiranga anywhere, and it should be replaced with the Khalistan flag. He further propagated that the Indian national flag is based on “fascism” and is “genocidal”.

Gurcharan Singh once admitted in an interview that Indian Government refused his visa.

Terrorists use cow urine jibe

The anti-Hindu cow urine jibe is one of the most popular ways among terrorists, and Leftist liberals, to abuse Hindus and Indians.

Not to forget, in 2019, a Pakistan-backed Jaish-e-Muhammad terrorist in a suicide attack killed as many as 40 CRPF soldiers in Pulwama, Kashmir. Following the attack, a video was released in which the terrorist could be heard saying he wanted to punish and kill the ‘cow urine drinkers’ in the name of Allah. The terrorist, identified as Adil Ahmed Dar alias Waqas was seen admitting that he had joined the Jaish-e-Mohammad a year ago. In the video, he referred to Indians as “Gae ka Peshab Peene Wale” (People who drink cow urine).

TMC leader Mahua Moitra is among the politicians who often use the cow urine jibe to attack BJP supporters. DMK leader Dr DNV Senthilkumar S also mocked the BJP-ruled States in the North by making the ‘gau mutra’ jibe on the floor of the parliament.

Crackdown on Amritpal Singh

On March 18, Punjab Police and central agencies launched a massive crackdown on pro-Khalistan separatist leader Amritpal Singh. So far, over 110 associates of Singh have been arrested. However, he is still on the run. Internet was suspended on March 18 for one day, but the suspension was extended for two more days. Police have alleged that Singh was in contact with ISI and received funds from Pakistan. Furthermore, it has been reported that Singh was creating a private army in the guise of an anti-drug drive and de-addiction centre. Following the crackdown, official Indian Government establishments in London and San Francisco were attacked by Khalistanis.

Bihar cabinet minister Tej Pratap Yadav tweets video of himself watching Shri Krishna while asleep, well past midnight, netizens amused

Bihar state minister for environment, forest and climate change, Tej Pratap Yadav tweeted a video of himself dreaming about Lord Krishna while being asleep.

Tej Pratap Yadav had posted this video at around 1:30 AM where he could be first seen lying down with eyes closed, to show that he is sleeping. It appears Tej Pratap Yadav likes to sleep with lights of the room switched on. In rest of the video, it appears like it was what he was dreaming being shown to us. There are horses and a scene that appears like it was from the television series Mahabharat. Tej Pratap Yadav then appears to be dreaming of what appears to be the war of Mahabharat.

Suddenly, Lord Krishna appears in his dream and shows his Vishwaroop, which jolts Tej Pratap Yadav from his sleep and he sits up in his bed. Notably, Lord Krishna had shown his Vishwroop thrice in Mahabharat, the Hindu epic, the most significant one being to Arjun right before the Kurukshetra war (visuals of which Tej Pratap Yadav seems to have seen in his dream). Vishwaroop is considered the supreme form of Vishnu where the whole universe (vishwa) is contained within him.

This dream of Tej Pratap Yadav left netizens amused.

One Arpil Alok Mishra said how Bhagwan Krishna had shown such grand Vishwaroop to Arjun and then to Tej Pratap Yadav.

Many were amused at how the entire Mahabharat was being played in his dream.

A Twitter user by the name ‘God Bless Bihar’ also shared an old TikTokeque video of Tej Pratap Yadav where he has himself worn the peacock feather like Shri Krishna and is reciting the verse from Geeta, the part of Mahabharat, which Shri Krishna recites to Arjun ahead of the Kurukshetra war when he is having a moral dilemma of fighting his own cousins and elders in the war.

Tej Pratap Yadav had earlier seen late Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav in his dream and then cycled to work the next day with an entourage of media personnel and his own security personnel. You can read the detailed description of his dream here.

Punjab Police question Amritpal Singh’s wife and mother over alleged foreign funding, NRI wife’s Babbar Khalsa links under scanner

On Wednesday, March 23, Punjab Police questioned the family members of ‘Waris Punjab De’ chief and fugitive Amritpal Singh. A police team comprising senior officials questioned Amritpal Singh’s wife Kirandeep Kaur, father Tarsem Singh and mother Balwinder Kaur for nearly an hour at the Jallupur Khera village in Amritsar.

Reportedly, a woman police officer questioned Amritpal’s wife Kirandeep, and mother Balwinder Kaur in connection with the alleged foreign funding for the activities of Amritpal Singh and his group ‘Waris Punjab De’.

DSP Harkrishan Singh, who visited Amritpal’s home, stated that they were there to conduct an investigation. Meanwhile, SSP Satinder Kumar said that ‘it was a routine matter’.

Although the Police refused to give any details regarding the questioning of Amritpal’s family, reports suggest that the police may have inquired about Kirandeep’s alleged past connection with radical Sikh organisations.

About Kirandeep Kaur

According to media reports, Amritpal Singh married Kirandeep Kaur, an NRI from the UK, in February of this year. Kirandeep Kaur moved to Punjab after getting married to Amritpal in February and currently stays at Jallupur Khera. Kaur is a Non-Resident Indian (NRI) and is reportedly a part of the Babbar Khalsa. She generates money for the terror group and provides funding for the Khalistan Movement. Moreover, she and five other people were arrested in 2020 for soliciting donations for the same outfit.

‘Whose tomb it is? A fish?’: Raj Thackeray shares video of ‘illegal dargah’ in Mahim Bay in Mumbai, threatens to build Ganpati temple there if not demolished

On 22nd March 2023, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray held the annual program of his political party at Shivaji Park in the Dadar area of Mumbai. During his speech at this event, Raj Thackeray shared a video of an illegal dargah built in the sea at Mahim Bay in Mumbai. Raj Thackeray warned that he would erect a Ganpati temple next to it if this unauthorized construction is not demolished within a month.

Raj Thackeray asked Muslims in Maharashtra if they agree with the things he showed in the video. He said that these things happen when the government does not pay proper attention to things. He said, “I request chief minister Eknath Shinde, home minister Devendra Fadnavis, Iqbal Chahal – the commissioner of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation, Mumbai Police chief Vivek Phansalkar that if you are not taking any action against this in a span of next one month, then we will build the biggest Ganpati temple just near to this illegal dargah.”

The video shared by Raj Thackeray shows how over the period of past few years, a place in the sea at the Mahim Bay area was encroached upon by Muslims. In this video, Muslims are seen making reclamation at the shown point in the sea. On the ‘island’ formed by reclamation land, Muslims are seen building one tomb. Subsequently, it is seen that a way to reach this tomb is also made in a similar manner and Muslim men and women approaching the illegal construction are also seen. The video is shot through drone cameras and Raj Thackeray also claimed in his speech that there was nothing at that place two and half years ago. He also said that he has satellite images of the place which prove the same.

Raj Thackeray said, “This is constructed illegally in the last two to two and half years in the sea opposite the Makhdum Baba dargah in Mahim. There was no such thing there as seen in the video. I even have satellite images of that. They raised it out of nothing. The Mahim police station is not far away from this place. No one pays attention. Municipal Corporation employees keep roaming around the city but nobody sees it. In broad daylight, they are building a second Haji Ali here.”

He added, “If action is not taken against this within a month, then we will build the biggest Ganpati temple just near it. Will see whatever happens. If you are giving such concessions to them, if you are ignoring them to this extent, then ignore our actions too. I won’t tolerate these things anymore. If I am voted to power even once in this state, I will make everyone abide by discipline. So much so that no one will dare ever again to see this soil with evil intentions.”

Examination of the area on Google Earth seems to confirm the claims made by the MNS chief. Historical images of the site show that while a small portion of the seabed is raised at that point which becomes visible during low tides, the ‘island’ has been expanded in recent times, and the Dargah has come up on it. However, as the sea level keeps changing due to tides, the Dargah goes under the water sometimes, and therefore it is not visible in all the recent satellite images.

The ‘island’ is around 220 metres away from Hazrat Makhdum Shah Baba Dargah located at Mahim West.

Raj Thackeray said, “Anyone comes here and does anything right in front of you here and also out there in Maharashtra. But we don’t pay attention to it, we are busy in politics. You should display your power every now and then. In fact, you don’t need to display your power but you have to show it. Do the Muslims living in Maharashtra approve of such things? You erect such illegal constructions anywhere in broad daylight. Whose dargah it is? Whose tomb it is? A fish?”

Raj Thackeray showed two more videos during his speech. In one video he showed Javed Akhtar speaking in a program in Pakistan where he expressed his displeasure over masterminds involved in the 26/11 terror attacks of Mumbai roaming freely in Pakistan. In this video, Javed Akhtar also expressed his displeasure over Pakistan not inviting Lata Mangeshkar despite many Pakistani artists invited to India from time to time in the past. Raj Thackeray said that he expects Muslims in India and Maharashtra to be like Javed Akhtar and condemn Pakistan-sponsored terrorist activities loud and clear.

In another video, he showed how a playground in a residential society in the Sangli city of Maharashtra is being encroached on by Muslims and how they are attempting to build a mosque over there.

Assam assembly passes resolution against the controversial BBC documentary, CM says it is an international conspiracy against India

On 21st March 2023, the legislative assembly of Assam adopted a resolution against BBC over its controversial documentary against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Assam’s chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared the resolution in a tweet from his Twitter handle today. The private member’s resolution was proposed by BJP MLA Bhubon Pegu who represents the Jonai constituency in Assam.

In the tweet, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, “Assam Assembly has adopted a resolution to condemn the malicious documentary recently aired by the BBC to malign India’s growing international standing & foment domestic instability. The House has collectively demanded that strictest action be taken against those responsible.”

CM Himanta Biswa Sarma also tweeted, “Sharing the resolution adopted by Assam Assembly against BBC. Let it be made clear in no uncertain terms that in New India there will be a democratic but proportionate response against those who profit by tarnishing Bharat’s image Freedom of expression is not a license for deception.”

The resolution moved by MLA Bhubon Pegu said, “The BBC released Part I of a shameful documentary ‘through a false and fictitious portrayal of the events that occurred in Gujrat 2002’ which was produced with the sole reason of attacking our Hon’ble Prime Minister and the Indian Republic. The BBC has peddled false narratives in stark ignorance of the Hon’ble Supreme Court’s judgment dated 24 June 2022 in this matter and has painted India’s Judicial institutions as compromised and impartial bodies, which is a direct attack on the integrity of India’s Judicial authorities. The BBC Documentary constitutes absolute contempt of the Court, as it has summarily dismissed and undermined the Court’s reasoning and abilities.”

It added, “The BBC has also questioned the country’s free press, Judiciary, and the legitimacy of its democratically elected majority government. Through its documentary, the BBC has grossly maligned India’s political parties, judiciary, press, police officers, investigative agencies, and religious communities. Through the continuing broadcast of its documentary, it has displayed its deeply rooted and institutionalized racism. It is disturbing to note that even 75 years after India’s Freedom from ruinous colonial rule, the BBC seeks to continue to act as the true arbiter of India’s internal issues, through its dubious journalism.”

The resolution, “The wounds left behind by the incidents in Gujrat have finally been mended after decade-long efforts and finally the Apex Court has put the issue to rest through its judgment delivered on 24 June 2022. Thus any attempt to rehash past incidents and create communal tensions, especially by motivated foreign groups who seek to benefit from such religious chaos, must be prevented. The narrative peddled by BBC in the documentary, riddled with false allegations and hollow aspersions, seeks to destroy the social fabric of India, which is diverse, democratic, and harmonious. I request this House to recognize the dangerous agenda that has motivated this documentary.”

Concluding the resolution draft, he wrote, “So as to preserve the sovereignty and the foundation of India, I request this August House to adopt a Resolution demanding the strictest possible action against the British Broadcasting Corporation’s (BBC) malicious and dangerous agenda to instigate religious communities and flare religious tension and malign India’s global standing by airing the malicious two-part documentary, the ‘Modi Question’.”

Addressing the Assam assembly, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma strongly supported the resolution and condemned the documentary and questioned its timing, while adding that the allegations made against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the documentary are false. He said that by releasing the documentary after a bench of the Supreme Court of India had settled the Gujarat riot cases by saying that there was a conspiracy to frame PM Modi, BBC has undermined the independence of the Indian judiciary. He also questioned the timing of the release of the documentary, as it was released at the time when India was assuming the presidency of G-20.

“After our Prime Minister has been given a clean chit by the Supreme Court and after the court has conclusively closed this chapter, why has BBC made this documentary?” the CM said. He further said, “They want to challenge the Indian judiciary; they want to challenge India. And it can also be because we have economically surpassed the country that colonised and ruled us, so that foreign investment does not come to India, to reduce India’s respect. We see the BBC documentary as an international conspiracy against India.”

Congress, AIUDF and CPI(M) MLAs opposed the resolution and said discussions on it are a “waste of the Assembly’s time”, as it is a matter that does not concern the state Assembly. However, CM Sharma countered them by saying that as Assam is part of India, any attempt to malign India also affects Assam. He also pointed out that Assam was also hosting G-20 events when the documentary was released. Opposition leaders also demanded screening of the documentary ‘to understand its content and then have a discussion on resolution.’

Earlier in January 2023, the Government of India denounced the controversial BBC documentary series on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, described as a ‘propaganda piece’ designed to push a discredited narrative. “We think this is a propaganda piece designed to push a particular discredited narrative. The bias, lack of objectivity, and frankly continuing colonial mindset are blatantly visible,” External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said during a media briefing.

Jharkhand: Four-day-old baby dies after a policeman allegedly steps on him during a raid

0

Tragedy struck in the Kosogondodighi village of the Giridih district in Jharkhand when a four-day-old baby lost his life in a police raid. A policeman allegedly stepped on the 4-day-old baby while conducting a raid to arrest his grandfather.

It is learnt that during the operation, one of the policemen allegedly stepped on the baby. According to sources, a team under Sangam Pathak, in charge of Deori police station, reached the house of one Bhushan Pandey to arrest him in the wee hours. When the family members did not open the door, the team forcibly tried to enter inside and a policeman jumped on the bed where the innocent baby was asleep, which allegedly crushed him to death.

The family of the deceased baby is understandably devastated by the tragic turn of events.

“It has been alleged that a four-day-old boy died when the police went there to execute two non-bailable warrants issued by the court. Prima facie, external injuries have not been found on the baby’s body. It has been sent for postmortem examination,” Giridih Superintendent of Police Amit Renu told PTI.

“I managed to flee when the police came knocking around 3.20 am. But the police managed to enter the house. My other family members also stepped out. The child was sleeping on one of the beds inside one of the rooms. The policemen stepped on the bed looking for me and stepped on the child. When the family members went in, they saw the child dead,” Bhushan Pandey said.

The incident has caused outrage and shock among members of the community, with many expressing their anger at the police department’s actions. The family and their supporters have called for a murder case to be registered against all the police officers present on the scene. It is noted that after this disturbing incident happened, the Police didn’t arrest Bhushan Pandey.

The CM of Jharkhand Hemant Soren directed the authorities to investigate the matter. The video of Bhushan Pandey was widely shared on social media, people tagged Hemant Soren after which he directed the authorities to look into the matter.

Meanwhile, the incident has once again highlighted the need for police reforms in the country. The incident has raised questions about the conduct of the police during raids and their sensitivity towards human life. It is hoped that the incident will prompt the authorities to take necessary steps to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future

Punjab Police recover motorcycle on which Amritpal Singh escaped; NRI wife reportedly associated with Babbar Khalsa terror group

0

The motorcycle and car on which ‘Waris Punjab De’ chief Amritpal Singh fled had been recovered by Punjab Police. The abandoned two-wheeler was discovered today in the Darapur area, which is 45 kilometres from Jalandhar.

Swarnadeep Singh, SSP for Jalandhar, has also verified this development. A video of Amritpal escaping on the bike has also surfaced. Police have not, however, commented on this.

The Khalistan proponent managed to give the security forces the slip after changing his vehicle on Saturday when the latter had launched a crackdown against him and his outfit. He was initially in his Mercedes vehicle but later switched to a Brezza SUV during police action.

The SUV has been seized from Manna and a .315 bore rifle, some swords and a walkie-talkie set were recovered from it.

Quoting a local eyewitness, ANI stated that the radical Sikh leader was in the village with his companions on 18 March. “He changed clothes at the local gurudwara, had food and then left on a motorcycle.”

Manpreet Singh alias Manna, Gurdeep Singh alias Deepa, Harpreet Singh alias Happy, and Gurbhej Singh alias Bheja have all been apprehended for aiding him in escaping, according to the police.

It was revealed during their interrogation that he visited a gurdwara in the Nangal Ambian village in Jalandhar. He stayed in the gurudwara for an hour by holding the granthi hostage at gunpoint.

A case has been filed against these individuals under the Arms Act, according to Punjab’s IGP Sukhchain Singh Gill. He also established that Amritpal fled after changing clothes at Gurudwara Nangal Ambien.

He proclaimed that 154 individuals have now either been detained or arrested in connection with this matter. Furthermore, a total of 12 weapons, including rifles and handguns, have been seized.

Police also questioned Amritpal’s mother for about an hour in Jallupur Kheda village of Amritsar. In addition, his wife Kirandeep Kaur has also been investigated. The information about the probe has not been made public yet.

Kaur is a Non-Resident Indian (NRI) and is reportedly a part of the Babbar Khalsa. She generates money for the terror group and provides funding for the Khalistan Movement. Moreover, she and five other people were arrested in 2020 for soliciting donations for the same outfit.

Police requested assistance from the public in tracing the separatist leader and released seven images of him in various outfits.

He has been charged under the National Security Act, and a non-bailable warrant has been issued for his arrest. Authorities have also begun looking into his connections with the Pakistan intelligence agency, ISI.
