Political conspiracy, ISI-Khalistan, caste clashes and others: Theories fly after two lynching cases in Punjab over sacrilege charges

2021 saw six lynching cases linked to sacrilege of Sikh Holy Books and symbols in Punjab. Two of them were reported in a span of 24 hours, on December 18 in Amritsar and December 19 in Kapurthala. There are some condemning the murders, however, a large number of people are only condemning the alleged sacrilege, and keeping mum on the lynchings. There is even a section of people that is supporting ‘instant justice’. However, at this moment, it is of utmost importance to sit down and think about the series of events that are leading to such killings. One cannot become so angry that they pick up weapons to kill someone without being provoked to do so.

Reportedly there have been over 200 cases of sacrilege in the state since 2015. Around six have been killed so far that got reported. Out of these six, four were killed in the last year. What has been changing? What are people talking about? Are there any theories? Has Punjab’s law and order gone completely out of hands? Or there is some larger conspiracy that can be explored?

When something unthinkable like a murder over alleged blasphemy or sacrilege happens in India, people often talk depending on who died and who was the killer. For example, when Kamlesh Tiwari was brutally killed, many justified the killing saying he spoke ill about their God. Only a small section condemned the killing. On the contrary, when Mohammad Akhlaq was killed over allegations of carrying cow meat, everyone jumped to condemn the murder.

The political angle

In the recent cases of sacrilege in Punjab, it is not only a religious matter. It is a noteworthy political matter that can lead to major vote shifts during elections. This is why if you have noticed, no political leader is ready to say anything against those who have lynched the accused in the recent two cases of Amritsar and Kapurthala.

A lot of people on social media are suggesting that there might be a political angle to what has been happening in Punjab. One must recall that the spat between former Chief Minister of Punjab, Captain Amarinder Singh and Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu was linked to unsolved sacrilege cases in the state.

Back in 2017, during the time of state Assembly elections, sacrilege was one of the most talked-about topics. All parties were at the front promising swift action in the cases, but nothing concrete has happened. Even in the upcoming elections, these cases are going to have a lot of weightage, and the ruling Congress party would need to answer some tough questions. Though there is a possibility that they would simply throw ex-Congress leader Amarinder Singh under the bus as he has left the party.

Nevertheless, as it has been clear that no one has condemned the lynching across party lines, the issue of sacrilege will haunt every party when they go out to campaign. They not only have to answer the Sikh community over the alleged inaction in sacrilege cases, but they also have to convince the non-Sikh community that they would be safe in the state.

Another theory that has been floating around is that such incidents have increased as a plot against the alliance between BJP and Capt Amarinder Singh’s new party. If the propagandist, according to the theory, manage to inject hate among the Hindu and the Sikh community, both would not vote for Capt Amarinder.

The conversion mafia theory

Another theory that is being talked about is the conversion mafia could be behind the increased incidents of sacrilege in the state. As those who have been killed were mostly from the Dalit community, the theory suggests that the conversion mafia is trying to spread the propaganda that Dalits are not safe in Punjab. Under such circumstances, the Dalit community that has largely converted to Christianity would feel safer to convert and join the flock.

The deep fissure between the Dalit Sikh and Jat Sikh communities in Punjab is a well-known problem. While Dalit communities (Dalit Hindus and Dalit Sikhs) have always felt suppressed in the state, the upper caste Jat Sikhs have marked their territories in both political and non-political arenas. Notably, in Punjab, the alleged discrimination is not because of caste-related atrocities but majorly because of land ownership. The Dalit community that makes over 30% of the population owns less than 1% land, while the majority of the cultivable land is owned by the Jat Sikh community.

Here when the Dalit community is allegedly being forced to believe that they are not safe in the state, it would get much easier for the conversion mafia to convince them that converting to the other religion would be much safer for them.

The Pakistan-ISI-Khalistan theory

Another theory that is much more believable is the involvement of Pakistan’s ISI and Khalistan elements in the increased number of sacrilege cases in the state. Pakistan and Khalistani elements would be among the most benefitted parties by the unrest in Punjab. ISI has a history of injecting hate among the communities in India, and Kashmir is the best example of that.

In September 2020, it was reported that Pakistan had been indulged in narco-terrorism in India, and its Khalistani links were explored. In recent times, there has been an increase in the number of terrorist activities in Punjab. From tiffin bomb incidents to discovering a large cache of weapons in the bordering region and influx of drugs in the state have direct links to Pakistan.

In a recent report by News18, it was reported that the Granthi who was involved in the Kapurthala case was in touch with ISI. He was a regular to Sikh shrines in Pakistan in the last 4-5 years. Such connections are being explored by the security agencies to see if ISI has any involvement in creating unrest in the state.

It will not be surprising if Pakistan’s ISI and Khalistan are working together to target Punjab, especially when the state elections are only a few months away. Being an important border state, Punjab has always been on Pakistan’s hit-list, and these cases could be very well funded from the other side.

The allegations of the inaction of the government

In the last elections, sacrilege was a major issue. It caused tension among the ruling party leaders, and opposition parties (no matter who is ruling and who is in the opposition) have used sacrilege as a topic to attack each other. While all parties promise to take strict action if brought to power, none of them has managed to stop the incidents. Navjot Sidhu had been accusing Captain Amarinder Singh of not keeping election promises of action on sacrilege cases, which had resulted in the removal of Captain from the post of CM.

One theory that is sadly backed by evidence, that the Sikh religious leaders have been provoking the followers to go for instant justice. There have been many religious leaders who have called for “instant justice” in case someone disrespects any religious text or symbol linked to Sikhism. They not only provoke the followers but also promise to provide them financial and legal aid if they take revenge of sacrilege instantly.

The alleged inaction of the governments at the state and union level have been blamed for such incidents. Though law takes time to complete the course of justice, it is being propagated that Sikhs should not tolerate or wait for action as the “government won’t do anything in such cases”.

The alleged role of Deras

Deras, which are comprised mostly of Dalits, have been accused of indulging in sacrilege cases. Notably, just a day before the alleged sacrilege in the Golden temple, the Special Investigating Team formed by the state of Punjab had filed an affidavit as a reply to the petition filed by Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in which they said that the sacrilege conspiracy was hatched at the administrative block of the Dera.

Several cases have been allegedly linked to the followers of Dera. One of the Dera followers who was serving jail time in Nabha’s high-security prison in Patiala over a sacrilege case was killed by Sikhs as revenge for the incident of sacrilege.

Punjab needs a serious course of anger management

It is sad that instead of following the law, the people of Punjab have been indulged in mob justice. They could be right in blaming the governments and administration for not taking action against the accused or delaying justice in the cases, but that does not give them the right to take law into their own hands. It is high time everyone sits down and think before ignoring the law and indulging in mob justice. Before listening to those who are provoking to do something unthinkable, think about the family. No one is going to help the family. No one had, and no one would.

A day after the Income Tax department raided the residence of Samajwadi Party National Secretary Rajeev Rai and two others, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath quipped that SP was getting pained at IT raid.

“I observed that the Samajwadi Party was getting pained at IT raids. So, when I asked someone, the journalist replied don’t you know ‘chor ki dadhi mein tinka‘ (the guilty mind is always suspicious),” he said.

“5 saal me kisi vyakti ki sampatti 200 guna badh jayegi kya koi iske bare me sonchata tha kya?  Lekin smaajwadi party ki sarkar me sab dekhne ko milta tha. (Can anyone imagine, someone’s assets increased 200 times in five years. Is this what happened during the SP regime),” Yogi Adityanath said.

The UP CM said this in Mathura on Sunday (December 19) while leading the Jan Vishwas Yatra from Govardhan in Mathura which is set to conclude at Pilibhit. 

The BJP planned the Jan Vishwas Yatra from six locations namely Bijnor, Jhansi, Ghazipur, Ambedkar Nagar and Ballia to launch the campaign for the assembly election.

Yogi Adityanath dared Akhilesh Yadav to come clean on the issue of corruption. The BJP is fighting the Uttar Pradesh assembly election under the leadership of Yogi on the issue of good governance.

Yogi in his address slammed the Opposition over the law and order situation. He asked people whether they could expect the Samajwadi Party government to take action against criminals and mafias. He reminded people how the previous governments of the Bahujan Samaj Party and Samajwadi Party had brought an era of lawlessness in Uttar. He referred to the example of the 2013 Kosi Kalan communal riots in which 70 people were killed.

He said the Opposition supported rioters, spared terrorists, encouraged cow smugglers, and did everything to play with the faith of people.

The growing edge of Yogi over the opposition and people endorsing his good works has left Akhilesh Yadav nervous. He launched a fresh attack on the BJP and accused it of using agencies like Income Tax and Enforcement Directorate against the Opposition.

Akhilesh Yadav is highly annoyed over IT raid on Rajeev Rai, RCL group promotor Manoj Yadav and Jainendra Yadav, a house staff turned OSD of Akhilesh Yadav.

Now Akhilesh Yadav has claimed Yogi government has snooped on his phone conversation as well as other Samajwadi Party leaders, and that of his party leaders are been tapped by the government. He also hit out at Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath accusing him of snooping on their phone conversations.

On Sunday (December 19), Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the Goans on the occasion of the 60th Goa Liberation Day and its merger with the Union of India.

PM Modi began his address by welcoming the audience in Konkani language. At the very onset, he said, “Goa came under Portugal rule when the other major part of the country was ruled by the Mughals. But even centuries later, neither Goa has forgotten its Indianness, nor India has forgotten its Goa.”

He hailed India’s first Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who was instrumental in Goa’s liberation. PM Modi emphasised that had Patel lived longer, Goa could have been freed from the clutches of Portuguese rule on a much earlier date. He pointed out that Goa did not lose its link to India despite 450 years of Portuguese inquisition.

The Indian Prime Minister applauded the coastal State for its good governance. He added how Goa has been giving strength to the country through the ‘Swayampurna Goa’ flagship programme. He also congratulated Chief Minister Pramod Sawant for the developmental work carried out in the State. PM Modi added how the tourism industry in Goa had continued to grow, despite the Wuhan Coronavirus pandemic.

He has expressed his hope that the State will reach greater heights by the 75th year of its liberation. PM Modi said, “Goa is top in good governance, per capita income, and many others. I want to congratulate Goa for completing cent percent coverage of 1st dose to all its eligible population.” He added that the State has been leading the country in 100% vaccination, ‘Har Ghar Jal’ mission and being 100% open-defecation free (ODF).

PM Modi also reminisced about his former colleague Goa CM Manohar Parrikar and applauded his spirit of working until his last breath. He recounted his recent meeting with Pope Francis and the invitation that he had extended to the highest authority of the Catholic Church to visit India.

While speaking about the Goans, PM Modi concluded, “The people of Goa have been peaceful and accommodating throughout history and preserved the relics of Queen Ketevan for decades, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said. Any amount of appreciation for the people of Goa would fall short, he added.”

During his visit to Goa, the Indian Prime Minister inaugurated several projects including the New South Goa District Hospital, Gas insulated Substation at Dabolim-Navelim in Margao, Aviation Skill Development Center at Mopa Airport. Goa is set to go for polls next year.

Conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar names two more Bollywood actresses, claims he had helped Shilpa Shetty and Shraddha Kapoor

Enforcement Directorate (ED) investigating the 200 crore extortion case involving multi-millionaire conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar has revealed that Conman Sukesh had connections with multiple Bollywood stars, apart from Jacqueline Fernandez and Nora Fatehi. Now, the agency has revealed that these Bollywood actresses having links with him included Shraddha Kapoor and Shilpa Shetty. This new revelation added two more bollywood actresses whose names have come up during the investigation of the extortion case after Jacqueline Fernandez and Nora Fatehi, who have been already questioned by the ED. ED also mentioned that several other bollywood celebrities could be involved as well.

As per reports, Sukesh came in touch with Shilpa Shetty when her husband went to jail in the porn racket case. He contacted Shilpa Shetty and proposed a conditional release for her jailed husband Raj Kundra.

Sukesh also told ED that he also helped Bollywood actress Shraddha Kapoor in a NCB case and knew her since 2015. The Narcotics Control Bureau had summoned Shraddha Kapoor last year in connection with the drugs case related to the death of Sushant Singh Rajput. It was alleged that her name had cropped up during the probe, along with several other Bollywood stars. However, no action was taken against her by the NCB, and therefore the claim of Sukesh that he helped her in the probe seems to be bogus.

Sukesh also claimed that Harman Baweja is his old friend, they planned to co-produce a movie titled ‘Captain India’ starring Kartik Aryan. But all these claims by him have no proof, and seems to be bogus.

ED will be investigating if the bollywood actresses and celebrities mentioned in the case were victims or if they had any connection with Sukesh. ED has already stated that Jacqueline Fernandez and Nora Fatehi got top models of luxury cars and other expensive items from Sukesh.

Earlier, India Today reported about the the exclusive chats between Conman Sukesh and Nora Fatehi in which the conversation revolved around the selection of a luxury car. Apart from that, Sukesh booked helicopter rides for Jacqueline from the Kerala airport to hotels. ED probe further revealed that Jacqueline visited Kerala and Karnataka in luxury private jets and choppers arranged by Sukesh. It was reported that Sukesh Chandrashekhar had spent crores of extortion money on actress Nora Fatehi according to the ED charge sheet. Sukesh also gifted a BMW car to Nora Fatehi.

Bihar: Chinese national holding PAN card arrested in Madhubani near Indo-Nepal border

The Sahashtra Seema Bal (SSB) has arrested a 39-year-old Chinese national Ziyou Jiang Shi from Madhwapur locality in Madhubani district of Bihar. The Chinese national identified as a resident of Fujian province on the Southern coast of China had entered India through the Indo-Nepal border without valid documents.

Sources in security agencies told OpIndia that Chinese national was carrying PAN card, Nepalese Visa and a mobile phone.

“He was detained on Friday (December 17) as he was spotted moving at the marketplace of Gandhi Chowk in Madhwapur where the pillar number 295/2 is marked for an international boundary. There is an open border between India and Nepal guarded by SSB. His activities were suspicious hence SSB personnel stopped him. The most alarming thing is that he was carrying the PAN card. He could not produce any document about his entry into India,” sources said.

SSB handed him to local police and he was formally arrested. The Officer-in-charge of Madhwapur police station, Gaya Singh said that that suspected national was formally arrested and sent to jail.

Officials of the Special Intelligence Branch (SIB) besides the Intelligence Bureau interrogated him and the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has been informed about this suspected Chinese national. SSB commandant of 14th battalion Chandra Shekhar said that arrested Chinese understands English.

In the past also foreign nationals were arrested in Madhubani for illegally crossing the international border. The major part of North Bihar forming Mithila shares a border with Nepal. From the security point of view, it is quite sensitive since China is situated not too far away.

The man who was lynched by a mob at Nizampur village in Kapurthala in Punjab accusing him of blasphemy had gone to the Gurudwara for stealing, police have revealed. According to reports, Punjab Police have denied the sacrilege angle in the case after initial investigation, and revealed that the killed man was a thief who had entered the Gurudwara with the intention of stealing.

Kapurthala SSP Harkamalpreet Khakh said that they didn’t find any attempt of sacrilege at the Gurudwara. He also informed the accused in the case will be booked under murder charges.

SSP Khakh said that the victim was spotted at around 4 AM on Sunday by the Gurudwara manager Amarjit Singh, who alleged that the man was trying to remove the Nishan Sahib, the holy Sikh religious flag. He informed this to two sevadars (volunteers) who work in the Gurudwara and live there, and they caught the man. After that, a crowd gathered at the spot, and the man was thrashed and questioned, and later beaten to death.

The SSP further added that the Guru Granth Sahib is placed at the top floor of the Gurudwara, while the man had entered only the ground floor which has several rooms and where the sevadars live. He informed that the killed man was wearing the jacket of a sevadar at the Gurudwara, and probably he came to steal the jacket only.

Crowd gathered after announcement from Gurudwara, video on social media

Reportedly, after the man was caught, there was an announcement from the Gurudwara asking people to gather in large numbers. “Police and any other agency should not interfere. Punjab Police and state government are equally responsible for the sacrilege cases,” the announcement reportedly said.

Moreover, the video of the captured man was already uploaded on social media, and as a result of this and the announcement, a large number of people gathered at the mosque. SSP Harkamalpreet Khakh said that the police tried to explain to the public that there has been no attempt of sacrilege of the Swarup of the Guru Granth Sahib, but the mob didn’t listen to them.

It is notable after the man was captured, police had arrived at the Gurudwara, and had taken the man in custody. But by that time the crowd had also gathered, and they didn’t let the police take away the man. The cops were outnumbered by the mob, who then proceeded to beat the man to death, presumably in the presence of the police. After that, the police took way the body of the victim and sent the same for post mortem examination.

In the meanwhile, Punjab Police have warned against violating communal harmony after the two mob lynching cases over alleged sacrilege. DGP Siddharth Chattopadhyaya tweeted, “I have taken serious note of the unfortunate incidents in Amritsar and Kapurthala. Any attempt to violate the communal harmony in the state will be dealt with a firm hand. Stern action will be taken against all those disturbing the law and order in Punjab.”

Stolen ID card fou nd on victim

The SSP further said that the man had already stolen some items from the house of a woman before coming to the Gurudwara. They found an ID card around his neck, which is an old ID card of the child of the woman, and he was wearing the same.

In Maharashtra’s Beed, monkeys went on a rampage and killed 250 dogs after a puppy killed a baby monkey. And while two monkeys were taken into custody by forest officials and then released into forest away, netizens were quick to indulge in a memefest about the bizarre fight between the monkeys and the dogs.

There was also dark humour involved. One Twitter user could not choose and ended up supporting both. Another video of a dog riding a buffalo in Gujarat’ Jetpur had gone viral where people said how the #TeamDoge were now getting external help in this fight with monkeys. Another video showed a dog riding on top of an autorickshaw to fight the monkeys.

Some even hoped that pro-AAP vlogger Dhruv Rathee will come up with an exposé/explainer on the #MonkeysVsDoge fight.

And some even thought of other animals who may or may not be feeling left out in the #MonkeyVsDoge fight.

There were others who also prayed and hoped that soon peace prevails in the animal kingdom.

The entire episode of monkeys killing dogs started after a pack of dogs killed an infant monkey. Following this incident, enraged primates launched a systematic attack against dogs, abducting them, taking them to abandoned buildings with considerable heights and dropping them from the top. Now no dog remains in the village.

Meet Kashmiri educator Sabbah Haji, who does not think of herself Indian and picked up idea of ‘azaadi’ at 8

Kashmiri educator Sabbah Haji has been recently released on bail after she was arrested for referring to Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat as ‘war criminal’ in an Instagram post. Sabbah, however, has had not so favourable views on India since long. In a 2010 article in Hindustan Times, she had said how she hesitates before referring to herself as Indian and does not think of herself as one.

“I am now 28. Even today, each time I have to fill a form asking for my ‘nationality’, I hesitate before eventually writing ‘Indian’. That’s about 20 years of hesitating over the same point, because yes, even at 8, I knew something was rotten in the State of Jammu and Kashmir,” she had said in the 2010 article stating that young children pick up resentment against India from their family members. “No one in Kashmir drills their children with ‘Azaadi’ mantras and anti-establishment behaviour. Somewhere between infancy and childhood, I had picked up unwittingly on what most of my family and people felt. Just like that it was part of me,” she had said.

She said that she hailed from Doda district in Jammu & Kashmir but was born and brought up in Dubai amidst Kashmiris. She would spend her holidays in Kashmir and during the little time she spent there she felt “the strong anti-India sentiment running throughout the region. India was personified in its heartless governance and its troops — far too many in civilian areas and in our daily lives for us to understand.”

She had claimed she witnessed men being ‘picked up’ by the soldiers and ‘women getting unwelcome attention’ and there was a ‘dark dark period of disappearances, crackdowns, curfews, torture, deaths and misery’. She then talked about the ‘violent militants’ and claimed that they were mostly non-Kashmiris. She did not mention how they were backed by Pakistan that has been funding and supporting terrorism in the valley since long.

While speaking about the Kashmiri Hindu exodus in the late 1990s, she claimed that India and Pakistan played a huge role “as did those Kashmiris (Muslims and Pandits) who supported communalising the movement, either actively or under threat or coercion.”

While writing about how she feels about India, Sabbah had said how she loves Indian history, culture, colours, food, languages, festivals but this face is what people in India know but not what those in Kashmir see. She refers to Kashmir as if it is a separate entity. Comparing India’s freedom fighters to separatists, she had said, “What irks us is that while your Bhagat Singh is a ‘shaheed’ (martyr), while Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose is a fierce nationalist, Kashmiris are to be typecast as violent troublemakers and written off for the same ideals and aspiration.”

She then mentions how she neither feels she is either Indian or Pakistani. “It’s what we call the bottom line — most Kashmiris really believe we are not part of either India or Pakistan. That is what the ‘freedom movement’ in Kashmir is all about,” she mentioned. She then mentioned how earlier generation took up arms, the younger generation, where she belongs, is educated and have ‘learnt from blunders of the past’.

“As to the Pakistan angle, my knowledge of Pakistan is merely bookish, with the exception of what I know of it from Pakistani friends growing up, or watching PTV and their excellent telly dramas. I have never been to Pakistan though I’d love to visit. I love their cricket team, which, looking at their form today is laughable. But really, that’s about it. That’s the extent of our attachment to Pakistan,” she had said about Pakistan, a country that has been largest contributor to terrorism to the valley.

While writing about how she is not an Indian by choice but because she does not have a choice, she wrote, “The only place most Kashmiris can naturally come out to for studying or working is mainland India. So please don’t make us justify that if we are so against India why do we come here. It’s the same as asking me why I have an Indian passport. If there was an alternative I would probably take it. There isn’t.”

She then claimed that Kashmiri’s anti-India stand is not necessarily pro-Pakistan stand. “Please don’t broadside the Kashmiri movement by throwing the accusation, “Pakistani!” in our faces. We do not accept it. A few might, but a few don’t matter. And majority wins,” she said while calling for a referendum. “Give us our plebiscite, the one we were promised under the ruling of the United Nations. It’s got something to do with the idea of ‘democracy’, an idea Indians are very proud of. Self-determination is what we want. Then let the chips fall where they may,” she had said.

On her personal blog, she wrote another post in 2015 where she was quite against integration (likely reference to abrogation of Article 370) with India. While answering a question on why would Kashmiris just not integrate, she said, “‘Integration’. You must understand that this idea of forced integration of Kashmiris is in fact one of the biggest problems there is. And it is pushed and repeated at every opportunity, and it does nothing to make Kashmiris want to belong. She said how even though she did not grow up in Kashmir in the 90s, she resents whatever she saw in the two months of vacation she had in the valley while growing up. “Every time someone says Kashmir and its violence, what violence are we talking about here, we need to understand that as well. I doubt you will find too many cases of kids remembering ‘terrorists’ [we call them militants, and I’d say every Kashmiri family has had a militant from amongst it] ruining their growing years or interfering in their daily lives and entering their homes in a manner that affected them,” she said.

However, after admitting that most families in Kashmir had at least one person growing up as a ‘militant’, she said, Kashmiri children felt more resentment towards Army, BSF and CRPF’s interrogation. “But you will find innumerable stories of resentment and anger among children growing up in the ’90s in Kashmir where they have either been personally at the receiving end of the Army/BSF/CRPF’s interrogations, crackdowns etc or have seen the Armed forces entering their homes, beating up their family members [men, women, old, young] in front of them, breaking furniture, turning the house upside down, tearing their – the children’s- certificates, books and so on and so forth. Being frisked every few metres in your own neighbourhood. Being called out for crackdowns, adhering to curfews, being on the receiving end of insults and mockery on a daily basis,” she said in her blog.

She claimed that major sore point amongst Kashmiris is the presence of Armed Forces in the valley which is infused with terrorists backed by Pakistan. “The resistance in Kashmiri is very strong even today, and giving it a Pakistani bent or Islamo-terrorist bent is just irritating to the regular Kashmiri. Both cards are played often enough, many kids are swayed by anything anti-India; if that turns them to Pakistan or radical Islam, well, yes, there will be cases like that as well,” she said.

Sabbah claims how the India for the children in Kashmir is only about the men in uniform and ‘atrocities’. “Continual nationalistic barrage from MSM and politicians and chest-thumping patriots in India, complete disregard for Kashmiri voices through its local media and press and writers and intellectuals,” she said.

On Independence Day this year, when a caller asked her if national flag was hoisted at her school, Sabbah got angry and referred to the same as ‘rubbish’. Apparently, she received a call from someone asking whether the National Flag was hoisted at her school on the occasion.

Miffed by the question, Sabbah Haji replied that her school did not and it was Sunday. “What is this new rubbish,” she said about the call. Then, without any evidence, she insinuated that the Government of India was behind the call.

That the Director of a School in Kashmir did not wish to hoist the Indian Flag on Independence Day and appeared to harbour separatist inclinations is indeed a cause for concern as she is in a position where she is able to influence the impressionable minds of children. The children are the future and as long as they are influenced into embracing a misguided worldview, Kashmir will continue to suffer as a consequence. Terrorism has been a cause for extreme concern in the Valley, including the menace funded from across the border.

The Congress continues to enrich its vocabulary of political discourse with expletives and abusive language, as in a fresh instance the Uttar Pradesh Congress shared an abusive video against Amethi MP and union minister Smriti Irani.

It seems Rahul Gandhi should first teach “Pyaar Ki Rajneeti” to his Congress party workers who have picked-up “Gali Ki Rajniti.”

The official Twitter handle of the UP Congress has shared a 20-second video where two women talking to media are abusing Irani with expletives in an unacceptable language and manner. The video was filmed just after Amethi rally of Congress’ Rahul Gandhi.

The Congress party tagged Irani in this tweet mocking her to use the headphone only to insult Irani just because she belongs to the BJP who trounced Rahul Gandhi in Amethi and expelled him to Wayanad.

By this video, the Congress party tried to impress that both women in the video are housemakers who represent the mood of the anger of common people who have suffered at the hand of the BJP.

But netizens were quick to puncture the claim of Congress and traced their digital footprint. A user Deepa shared the picture of the woman in blue shari who was talking foul.

She is a Congress worker as in the two pictures shared Deepa, as she is seen along with Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. Another user Vishnu Gupta diagnosed the chronic problem of the Congress circulating fake videos of their party members as commoners. The user said that the Congress party thinks it will win the election by this and then cry foul after losing it.

Congress still uses old photo-op technology. During any controversy and political tourism, brother and sister hug dubious activists or the Congress party worker and they are posed as common people and victim. But before liberals and Lutyens celebrate the truth tumbles out.

After facing nationwide boycotts for peddling anti-Hindu agenda, Munawar Faruqui to hold comedy show in Kolkata

After facing a series of boycott and cancellations of his shows, comedian Munawar Faruqui has now announced to perform in Kolkata on January 16.

Only last month he had hinted at quitting comedy after his show in Bengaluru was cancelled. Faruqui may be thinking Kolkata could be a safer place to hold the show where he can mock Hindus under the protection of the Mamata Banerjee-led Bengal government.

The comedian informed about his proposed Kolkata show on Twitter. He also shared a link to book tickets for his two-hour show named ‘Dhandho.’ While the ticket costs Rs 799 he has not shared the venue of the show in Kolkata.

Faruqui has been facing backlash for insulting Hindu God and Goddess through his Anti-Hindu comedy. He had mocked Hindu deities in name of comedy at a programme held in Indore, Madhya Pradesh in January 2021.

He has a history of making hateful comments on Hindus through poor comedy. In one such stand-up gigs he had cracked jokes upon the victims of Godhra train burning. Faruqui not only mocked victims he had also peddled conspiracy theories to suggest the involvement of the RSS in the Gujarat carnage. In the face of the public protest for his hate against Hindus, he had to cancel his shows in many states.

In November the Bengaluru police had asked the organisers to cancel his show in light of the criminal cases registered against him in different states of the country. Faruqui was scheduled to perform his ‘Dongri to Nowhere-Comedy Special’ at the Good Shepherd Auditorium in Bengaluru.

He rued that his show was cancelled after having sold over 600 tickets. He lamented that in the past two months, 12 of his shows were cancelled due to threats to the venue and audience. He had hinted at quitting comedy.

Besides, he had to cancel his show in Panaji in Goa, Chandigarh due to protests. His entire Gujarat show was cancelled in September after the Bajrang Dal threatened to disrupt his programme.
