Baba vs Babua: Yogi Adityanath takes on Akhilesh Yadav in Etawah, calls out opposition’s lack of public service during COVID

“Those who cannot stand with you in time of tragedy and cannot share your pain, should be given a befitting reply in the language they understand,” said Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in Etawah. On November 6, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited Etawah to inaugurate multiple projects.

During his address to the public, without taking the name of Akhilesh Yadav, he pointed out that the opposition leaders were in home isolation during a pandemic. He said, “Those who cannot be with you during the time of need. Those who cannot come to support you during pandemic. Those who stayed active only on Twitter, I want to tell them, Babua, Twitter will give you votes.” CM Yogi laid the foundation and inaugurated projects worth Rs. 475 crore in Etawah.

Earlier, Samajwadi Party’s Akhilesh Yadav had thrown a ‘Baba’ barb at Yogi Adityanath and suggested that the Mahant of Gorakhnath temple in Gorakhpur should not contest elections as he is already on his way out.

UP govt worked extensively during Covid period

While speaking about the work the state government has done during a pandemic, CM Yogi said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the UP government presented the perfect UP Model not only for the country but also for the world. He said, “With the help of experts and corona warriors, the government continuously worked for the people of the state. We had the least deaths, least cases and maximum tests in the state. We have vaccinated maximum people as well.”

Jibes at Akhilesh Yadav

Taking a further jibe at Akhilesh Yadav, who was born in Etawah district, CM Yogi said, “There were people who were born in Etawah and opposing the vaccination program. But the people of Etawah took the vaccine and gave a befitting reply to them. Now it is our responsibility that those who haven’t taken the vaccine yet, should get it as soon as possible. It is a protective cover against Covid-19 infection.” Reminding people about the statement Akhilesh Yadav had made praising Jinnah, CM Yogi said a few days back, someone was calling Jinnah his idol.

He further added that the government under PMKAY provided a free ration for eight months in 2020 and seven months in 2021. “On Diwali, the government of Uttar Pradesh has decided to further extend the program for four months. Under the program, the families would get 35 KG ration, 1 KG dal, 1 G sugar, 1 KG edible oil and 1 KG salt,” he said. Other families under the scheme will also get benefits as per the scheme. He said, during previous governments, these benefits did not reach the poor because of the ration mafia.

‘Only determined governments complete the project’

CM Yogi said, “We not only laid down the foundation of multiple projects but also inaugurated them as well. Those who have ill intentions and indulge in corruption may lay down the foundation, but the public does not let them do the inauguration. Three years ago, we laid the foundation of many projects in your region, and now I am here to inaugurate them.”

He further added that the UP government has worked on reviving and maintaining 700 temples. “In the past, the governments spent this money on maintaining graveyards,” he said. He further added that Ayodhya Diwali had become an international attraction. “It is the same Ayodhya where Ram Bhakts were shot at. Where politicians were afraid to go,” he added.

Zero tolerance against ciminals

CM Yogi added that his government has zero-tolerance against criminals. He said, “We have worked on zero-tolerance against the criminals. But some people have become saviours of these criminals. Now it is time we have to take action against those who try to save the criminals. Our bulldozer is ready whoever tries to indulge in criminal activities.”

Fuel price drop

CM Yogi also talked about the price drop in petrol and diesel in the state. He said, “Keeping the hardship faced by the people, we have reduced the price of petrol and diesel by Rs. 12 in the state.”

Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh

The UP Assembly elections are scheduled for early 2022. The political parties have already begun to campaign for the upcoming elections.

Muslim neighbours object to Fatehpur man writing Jai Shri Ram on his walls next to a Mazar, police accuse both sides of instigating communal violence

A man named Rahul Choudhary of Ekaura village of Fatehpur district of Uttar Pradesh has alleged that the district police abused and warned him for writing normal religious and nationalistic slogans on the walls of his house. The youth said that every Diwali he paints his house and writes slogans like Jai Shri Ram, Vande Mataram, Bharat Mata Ki Jai and Har Har Mahadev. He added that members of the Muslim community of the village opposed him writing a slogan on his wall since it faces cemented platform as a mazar (shrine) situated next to his house.

Police personnel guarding the village

A video has gone viral as Suresh Chavhanke of Sudarshan News shared the video clip where the police personnel and Rahul can be heard arguing over the writings on the walls. It was filmed on October 3 when he was writing slogans. Chavhanke has also tagged Fatehpur police and Uttar Pradesh police whether the police are singing in tune with jihadis.

Inquiry revealed that a small Mazar was constructed on the northwest side of his house in 2011 and within a few years the mazar was developed. Rahul said that when the Samajwadi Party was in the power, the local Muslims grabbed a part of his land and raised a platform. Notably, the dispute is pending before the court and the police have been probing whether the platform was constructed on his land.

“Police and minority have a problem if I write Jai Shri Ram and Mera Bharat Mahan on my walls. They object that the wall faces mazar. I have not written anything inflammatory. I am a Hindu and there is not a single wall of my house left without such slogans. Police reached all of a sudden and started abusing me,” said Rahul.

The officer in charge of Kishanpur police station Ashutosh Kumar said that owing to the communal nature of the matter police were trying to ensure that nothing untoward should happen that could disturb the peace. “Police came here after somebody informed. There is no objection to what he was writing. He claims that the platform was constructed on his land. He was trying to create a nuisance,” said the officer in charge.

However, later in the day, Fatehpur Police replied to Suresh Chavhanke on Twitter claiming that the Mazar is very old, rejecting the claim that it was built on encroached land. They informed reports have been sent under section 145 of CRPC, and restrictive actions have been taken against both sides. The police added that both sides are making the video viral to instigate religious feelings, and local police have already registered complaints in the matter.

The Fatehpur Police further informed that they are identifying people who are spreading the video on social media to instigate communal violence and will take action against them. They have said that police forces have been deployed at the place, and at present the situation is peaceful.

United Kingdom: Primary school makes boys wear skirts to promote ‘gender equality’

A primary school in the United Kingdom had asked boys and girls to wear skirts to school to promote gender equality and show solidarity with a boy expelled from lessons in Spain. Consequently, teachers and pupil at Castleview Primary in Edinburgh participated in the initiative for the first time on November 4 this year, dubbed as “Wear a skirt to School Day.”

The initiative was on the lines of a similar move in Spain where teachers and children had worn skirts to show support with a boy who was expelled for wearing one last year. November 4 is declared ‘wear a skirt to school day’ in Spain.

One of the teachers at the Castleview Primary had in October last week posted on Twitter about the initiative her school was planning to undertake in order to raise awareness about ‘La ropa no tiene genero’-“Clothes have no gender” campaigned launched in the Spanish city of Bilbao after Mikel Gomez, 15, was referred to a psychologist for wearing a skirt to class.

“P6 have been learning about the importance of breaking down gender stereotypes. We have organised a ‘Wear a Skirt to School Day’ to raise awareness of #LaRopaNoTieneGenero campaign. This will be on Thursday 4th November and we’d love everyone to get involved,” said Miss White, a teacher at the Castleview Primary.

The teacher further mentioned that the school was getting as many staff and pupils to wear skirts as possible. She exhorted parents to send their children into school with clearly labelled skirts for others to wear. Kilts or costume skirts would work too, White said.

The move certainly sparked outraged, with some parents questioning the rationale behind supporting a campaign that had little to do with education. “We want our school to be inclusive and promote equality,” an email from Castleview Primary said to a parent, Daily Mail reported.

In an attempt to assuage concerned parents, the school reportedly told parents that it wanted children to be ‘comfortable’ taking part and that trousers and leggings could be worn under the skirts if needed.

The school even offered to provide skirts for pupils if none were suitable at home. The email said even Teachers were asked to join students in the campaign by wearing skirts.

Nevertheless, the initiative triggered outrage on social media. One user said, “Ah good the school has finally be outed. Castleview shame on you. It’s bad enough that this rubbish is being pushed at higher level, but primary? The children in your care need academic education.”

Another social media user called it disgraceful and asked Miss White to teach the kids their basics and stop all this “bloody nonsense”.

City of Edinburgh Council, however, praised the move initially saying it is “fully committed to promoting equality and diversity” especially in schools. But in the face of growing outrage, the council reverted its stand, saying pupil did not have to take part if they did not want to.

Tripura: Cattle smugglers, suspected to be from Bangladesh, cut off man’s ear during attempt to steal cattle, locals beat one to death

A suspected cattle smuggler from Bangladesh has been beaten to death in Tripura on Saturday. The incident reportedly occurred at the Kamalnagar village in Sonamura. According to reports, three alleged cattle smugglers had entered the state from Bangladesh on Friday night.

Reportedly, the suspected cattle smugglers were caught in the act of stealing cows from the house of one Litan Paul. He was caught with the help of a neighbor. Two of the intruders managed to escape but one could not who was later beaten to death by the locals, according to the police officials.

The police have recovered Bangladeshi currency and mobile phone from the possession of the man who was lynched. According to locals, the three had entered Paul’s home with the intention to steal cattle and when Paul resisted, they cut off his ear. Paul is receiving treatment at the GB Hospital in Agartala.

“According to the locals here, the thief is from Jamnagar in Bangladesh. There were two more with him, all from Kumilla district in Bangladesh. We recovered Bangladesh currency (taka) and a mobile set with Bangladesh connection from his possession,” the Police said.

Earlier in June, three were lynched on the suspicion of cattle theft. They were lynched at two separate places under the Khowai district.

A week ago, 10 Bangladeshi nationals were arrested by Assam Police at the Assam-Tripura border at Churaibari under the Bazaricherra police watchpost.

Haryana: Christian missionary school apologises after students perform a derogatory skit on Ramleela

On Saturday (November 6), the administration of St. Mary’s public school in Haryana tendered an apology after a video of its students performing a derogatory ‘Ramleela’ skit went viral on social media. The contentious video was shot within the school premises located in Tohana city in the Fatehabad district of Haryana.

The matter first came to light after one Gaurav Mishra, a journalist associated with News Indian 24X7, had posted the footage of the Ramleela skit. In the said video, the student playing the character of Lord Ram could be seen referring to Laxman as ‘chotu’. The skit presented Lord Ram as a patient of dementia, who needed to confirm his identity and that of his wife Sita from his brother Laxman. Instead of evoking a sense of spirituality and cultural pride, the skit ended up making a mockery of the Hindu epic Ramayana.

While condemning the objectionable portrayal of characters, journalist Gaurav Mishra said, “First, the students of AIIMS Delhi insulted Hinduism and Lord Ram and now, in the name of acting, in St. Matis’ School, see how Shri Ram is being insulted. (We) will not tolerate the insult of Ram at any cost. There should be action against the school.”

Hindu IT Cell Secretary, Sahil, then took cognisance of the matter. He sought help from the public in determining the exact location of the school. He also informed that the Hindu IT Cell team took legal counselling after the incident came to light.

After confirming the identity of the school where the skit was performed, Hindu IT Cell contacted the St. Mary’s public school in Haryana, protesting against the skit and demanding an apology.

Following the demand from the Hindu IT Cell and outrage on social media, the administration of St. Mary’s Public School tendered an apology. In a written note sent to the Hindu IT Cell, the school principal Rajeev Sharma said, “If the Ramleela skit performed by some of our students has hurt the sentiments of any individual, then, we tender our unconditional apology for it. We assure you that such an incident will not be repeated in future.”

Screengrab of the apology letter by St. Mary’s Public School

In a tweet, the Hindu IT Cell informed, “They (The IT Cell team) spoke with the principal Rajeev Sharma. He accepted his mistake and issued an apology. He also assured us that such a thing will never happen again. Special thanks to our core members.”

In the meanwhile, Bajrang Dal members have filed a complaining against the school at the Tohana Police station. But the police allegedly refused to register an FIR in the matter.

The Hindu activists also protested outside the school, raising slogans to boycott it and take action against the administration of the school.

AIIMS Student Association apologises for derogatory Ramleela skit

On Sunday (October 17), the student association of All India Institue of Medical Science (AIIMS) tendered an apology after a video of a derogatory Ramleela skit went viral on social media. The development came after netizens began demanding the arrest of the accused students using the hashtag #ArrestAIIMSCulprits on Twitter.

The objectionable act was performed by AIIMS students, the video of which was uploaded by 2020 Topper Soyeb Aftab on his Youtube channel ‘AIIMS Insider.’ Popular news channel Sudarshan News had posted the clips on its Twitter feed. At the very onset, the student performing the character of Lord Ram could be heard as saying, “I am committed to Sita for life. If you (Shurpanakha) are so lustful (tharki), here is my brother.” The girl playing the character of ‘Shurpanakha’ then went on to objectify Laxman and sang the popular Bollywood song, “Tu cheez badi hai mast mast“.

With lewd gestures and Bollywood songs, the sanctity of Ramleela was stripped in the opening act itself. In the subsequent act, one actor pretended to be the vicious NDTV journalist Ravish Kumar and referred to Lord Ram as ‘launda (chap)’. Another AIIMS student called the Lord as ‘chora‘ who beheaded Shurpanakha. The ‘Ravan’ in the skit then threatened to abduct the lugai (a rustic reference to Maa Sita) of Lord Ram. Furthermore, there was a scene wherein the King of Ayodhya, Raja Dasharatha, danced to the tune of ‘Sorry Darling’ in a bid to convince Kaikeyi.

Watch this spectacular video that captures the breathtaking visuals of Bengaluru on Diwali night

Bengaluru was illuminated on the occasion of Diwali. A mesmerising video of Diwali celebrations across the expanse of Bengaluru captured the ethereal magnificence that swept over the city.

The 18-seconds long hyperlapse video, which was presumably captured on a drone and uploaded by Srihari Karanth, shows the breathtaking bird-eye view of the Bengaluru city on the night of Diwali. The video instantly went viral on social media websites, eliciting rave reactions from those who watched it.

The video shows the vast expanse of the city gleaming with specks of glittering lights and its skyline lit up with fireworks as citizens took to bursting crackers and lighting their houses to mark the festival of Diwali.

Unlike in many north Indian states, there had been no blanket ban on firecrackers in Karnataka. However, the state government had permitted the sale of green crackers only.

Ahead of Diwali, the Karnataka government had last week said that only sellers having permission can sell green crackers at designated places outside residential areas between Nov 1 and 10. It further said that a 6-meter distance between shops a must.

Meanwhile, the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) generated Rs 1.25 trillion worth of business during Diwali setting a record trade figure in the last 10 years of festival. CAIT, a body of 70 million traders, noted that such massive scale of shopping has ended the economic slow down that the industry was suffering from for the past 2 years and gave a better hope for the future.

Knife attack on German high-speed train leaves several injured, Arab origin man arrested

Several people were injured in a knife attack that took place on a high-speed train in Germany. According to reports, the local police received a call about the attack at around 9 am local time on Saturday. Among the people injured during the attack, two of them were critically ill.

Reportedly, the knife attack occurred on the ICE high-speed train between Regensburg and Nuremberg on Saturday morning. German media have claimed that three people were injured and two of them were in serious condition but out of danger.

As per sources from the newspaper ‘Bild’, a 27-year-old man of Arab origin was detained by the police after the attack. Reportedly, the man has a history of psychological problems, who was ‘mentally disturbed’ and ‘called for help on the train’. Police said that there is no evidence that there could be other attackers involved. Around 300 passengers were supposed to be on the train, which has been held at the city of Seubersdorf, Bavaria, waiting for the situation to be controlled.

A spokesman for the Oberpfalz police authority said, “There has been an attack on an ICE (Intercity-Express) train and police shortly afterwards arrested a male person, and several people were injured.” Investigators have ruled out links to terrorism in the attack.

Earlier this year, a 24-year-old Somali immigrant had carried out a mass stabbing in which 3 people were killed and 5 others injured in the Wurzburg city of Germany. The horrific attack took place in Barbarossa Square, located at the centre of the city. Bavaria’s security official Joachim Herrmann had then informed that eyewitnesses heard the Somali migrant yelling ‘Allah hu Akbar’ and said that ‘Islamic extremist motive’ behind the stabbing attack in Wurzburg could not be ruled out.

Then again in September, an Afghan National attacked a 58-year-old woman and stabbed her multiple times in the neck for being a gardener at the Wilmersdorf part of the German capital Berlin. The 28-year-old Afghan had problems with women doing a gardening job because he did not believe a woman could do such a job, which indicated a possible ‘Islamist Motivation’ and mindset.
