Family of Rinku Sharma says police didn’t allow them to meet Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, threatened to arrest them

0

The kin of slain Bajrang Dal member Rinku Sharma has claimed that Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal refused to meet them when they had gone to meet him yesterday. They said that instead of allowing them to meet the CM, the police threatened them and chased them away.

Talking to Times Now, Rinku Sharma’s brother Manu Sharma said that he and three others had gone to meet the Delhi chief minister yesterday around noon, but the police on duty refused to let them in. They alleged that although four people went there to meet the CM to present their grievances and seeking justice, the police told them that holding protests is not allowed at that place, and they will be taken in custody if they don’t leave.

They said that while they were standing there, the police called two buses, put them into the bus, and threatened to put them behind bars if they continued to try to meet the CM. Manu also informed that nobody from the Delhi government has talked to them so far. According to them, the police said that they can’t meet the chief minister under no circumstances.

Manu Sharma further claimed that he submitted a memorandum, on which a signature from the CM’s office was provided.

However, although the family members of Rinku Sharma claimed that they were prevented by police to meet Arvind Kejriwal, the CM’s office has come forward to deny the allegations.

They claimed that nobody from the family had approached the CM’s office to meet the CM, and there is no basis behind the claims made by the family members. They told media that as nobody had approached to meet the CM, there is no question of the CM refusing to meet anyone.

What makes the West Bengal elections so important: The continued poor governance of TMC and future of the people

0

Inside the world’s largest democracy, the people of West Bengal have been experiencing ruthless dictatorship almost for five decades. People voted against the autocratic communist regime in 2011 by executing their voting right and brought Mamata Banerjee in power. Unfortunately, the latter betrayed the people by following footsteps of the erstwhile communists and continue to oppress people’s voice.

Due to the representation of distorted history in school textbooks, most of the people of West Bengal are not aware of the consequences of the partition at the end of India’s freedom struggle. The Hindus in the undivided Bengal experienced rampant genocide in 1946 under the Chief Minister of undivided Bengal namely Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy, who is known as the mastermind of “The Greater Kolkata Killing”.

To save the Hindu Bengali community, Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee snatched West Bengal from the grasp of Muslim League. After 74 years of that incident, we have seen a poster in social media to pay tribute to Suhrawardy on his death anniversary. Instead of verifying the originality of that poster or any sort of clarification of the creator of that poster, police administration arrested common people who condemned that original post. This one incident is enough to indicate where we are heading to!

TMC leaders set up a new trend of attacking the Prime Minister or Home Minister of the country or any BJP leaders from another state as outsiders but the CM had no problem to hold hand with leaders of other regional political parties to form third front alliance during 2019 General election. Even common people like us, the NRI Bengalis were labelled as expats by TMC MP. This is sad but true that many prominent signs of fascism are prominently visible in naked eye under the dictatorship of Mamata Banerjee.

Until now, 138 alleged political murders took place in the state. People have been found hanged till death in public places with folded knees touching the ground and shamelessly, the state police did not have the guts to declare it as murder. Recently a worker of the BJP party was shot near the police station. In the past few days, two were brutally beaten to death while they reached out to people as a part of BJP’s poll campaign.

The convoy of the national President of the BJP was attacked by the goons in front of the police. The State Government did not even allow to protest in democratic way and used all power to oppress the voice of common people when they came out to the street.

Secondly, since the beginning. the Trinamool government has not left any stone unturned to appease the minority vote bank. The Hindu community had to go to court to take permission to immerse “Maa Durga” idols while the government allowed minority communities to carry on their festival on the same day.

Even during the lockdown due to covid, the government did not have the guts to restrict the religious rituals of minorities. Strangely, during the phase wise opening, the government purposely left Friday from lockdown to allow people from the minority community to gather for their religious rituals. Several riots have been taken place in different areas of West Bengal and the government maintained absolute silence to keep their vote bank safe.

In addition, most of TV media maintains silence against the TMC sponsored hooliganism or the false claims of the ministers of the state. Media persons like Sanmay Banerjee, Shafikul Islam were sent to jail for raising their voice against such anarchism.

Furthermore, corruption became an inseparable partner of the TMC government. Many scams are currently under investigation. Also, job prospects look equally dire within the state. As soon as Mamata Banerjee came to power, she stopped SEZ and took a stand against FDI. Neither industrialization has taken place, nor is there any focus on infrastructure development. The last hope which people had was government service. Now with the rampant corruption, that has also become a distant not so feasible dream for most.

It has been widely reported that family persons of state ministers and leaders of TMC were waived off from emergency Covid duty and they also held high post in many places which they do not deserve. The honorable Kolkata High Court recently cancelled the recruitment panel of WB School Service Commission after 6 years of legal battle which vouches as an example of the level of corruption.

It is needless to say that there is no law and order in the state. Continuous oppression of the freedom of religion of Hindu community, extreme appeasement of minority community and opposition towards the Citizenship Amendment Act makes it necessary to ask if the TMC wants to make West Bengal a second Bangladesh? The Hindu Bengali community has gone through devastating battle of existence twice in the recent past and if the TMC party continues to remain in power, we might have to fight our third battle.

Over the past decade, the state government doubled the debt of the state without trying to set up infrastructure development for industrialization. As the 2021 Bidhan Sabha election is coming, it becomes necessary for us not to get trapped by the false promises of this corrupt TMC government, rather to elect the right government to save our future generations.

‘Shallow minded approach EXPOSED’: Pakistani cricketers Mohammad Hafeez and Sarfaraz Ahmad involved in bitter online spat

Trouble is brewing again within the Pakistan cricket team. Two very prominent faces of Pakistan cricket, Sarfaraz Ahmad and Mohammad Hafeez, are involved in an online feud on Twitter. Ahmad, who has been the captain of the team previously, has lost his spot to Mohammed Rizwan as the first-choice wicket-keeper batsman.

Following Rizwan’s stellar batting display against South Africa in the first T20 international in the series underway, which helped Pakistan narrowly defeat the Proteas, Mohammad Hafeez showered praises on the wicket-keeper.

The veteran all-rounder said in a tweet on Thursday, “Congratulations @iMRizwanPak on scoring T20 Hundred points symbolClapping hands signThumbs up. U r a Star shining star. Wonder how long u need to prove that u r NO1 wicketkeeper/Batsman in pakistan in all formats of the game. Just asking”.

Sarfaraz Ahmad, who is Rizwan’s foremost competitor, did not take those words lightly. He responded saying, “Hafeez bhai Sb, whoever has played for Pakistan from Imtiaz Ahmed, Wasim Bari, Tasleem Arif to Saleem Yousuf and from Moin Khan, Rashid Latif to Kamran Akmal and even Rizwan right now has always been number ONE for the country and have been respected accordingly.”

In subsequent tweets, Ahmad said, “We expect nothing but positiveness coming from an international player who has played so many games for Pakistan.”

Since then, Mohammad Hafeez appears to have responded to the former Pakistani captain without naming him. He declared emphatically, “Shallow minded approach EXPOSED!”

Infighting is not an entirely new to Pakistani cricket. It has been going on and off for years. Most recently, Pakistani bowler Mohammad Amir had announced his retirement from international cricket citing ‘mental torture’ by the Pakistan Cricket Board blaming head coach Misbah-ul-Haq and bowling coach Waqar Younis for his decision. He had later recanted his retirement and said that he will play for the national team but only if the two men are removed from their position.

BJP leader Kapil Mishra and BJYM Vice-President Vaishali Poddar raise ₹50 lakh in 24 hours for the family of deceased Bajrang Dal activist Rinku Sharma

Following the gruesome killing of 26-year-old Bajrang Dal activist Rinku Sharma in Mangolpuri area of West Delhi on Thursday, BJP leader Kapil Mishra and Vaishali Poddar initiated a fundraising campaign for the victim’s family. The campaign was started yesterday and enmassed ₹50 lakh in just a period of 24 hours.

In a tweet, Kapil Mishra stated, “Friends, we will raise about ₹50 lacs within 24 hours. People from across the world have come forward to help the family of Rinku Sharma. Delhi CM has not even spoken a word, despite the brutal murder of Delhi’s son. He is too scared to speak, fearing his vote bank might shrink. We are not even asking for government help but is Arvind Kejriwal the CM of any particular community?”

“I want to express my gratitude to all those who have come forward to ensure that Rinku’s family is not affected by financial distress. On Monday, I will be paying a visit to Rinku’s family. Hopefully, we can collect a sum of Rs 1 crore by then and hand over the entire amount to his family. Keep contributing because the Delhi government will neither speak two words about him nor contribute for the cause,” he added.

The Crowdkash website, through which the fund has been raised, showed an amount of ₹50,00,024 raised at the time of publishing this report. More than 5,400 contributors have made donations for the cause so far, with contributions ranging from ₹1 to ₹1,00,000. The goal of the campaign is to raise ₹1 crore in 30 days, which should be achieved much earlier.

Former BJYM Vice-President Vaishali Poddar, who is running the fundraising campaign along with Kapil Mishra, informed a few hours ago that an amount of ₹38 lakh had been collected. Sher urged all patrons and well-wishers to share the link of the fundraising campaign and help the family of Rinku Sharma.

The Rinku Sharma murder case: What we know so far

Rinku Sharma was a resident of Delhi’s Mangolpuri area. Besides rendering his voluntary service to the Hindu organisation, Rinku Sharma worked as a lab technician in a hospital in Paschim Vihar. He was brutally stabbed and murdered by a mob of 25-30 Muslims from his neighbourhood. The young activist is survived by his mother Radha Devi, father Ajay Sharma and brothers Ankit and Manu Sharma.

The Delhi police have arrested five people so far, including Zahid, Mehtab, Tasuddin, Nasruddin, and Mohammed Islam. As per Rinku’s friend Akash, Rinku Sharma had nothing to do with the fight that broke out at the restaurant and the theories about Rinku Sharma being murdered because of the scuffle at the birthday party is completely false.

The scuffle was actually between one accused Zahid and another friend of theirs, Sachin, that did not involve Rinku at all. Aakash’s statement also gives credence to the family’s version that Rinku was murdered not because of some fight at a birthday party but because the Muslim mob was enraged by Rinku chanting Jai Shree Ram and wanted to get back at him for collecting funds for Ram Mandir, Ayodhya.

The arrested youths are the residents of Talapady.

Mangalore police commissioner Shashi Kumar said that Konaje Police Station staff examined the CCTV footage on January 26, 2021, and found out that two persons were moving suspiciously near the temple premises. Subsequently, both of them were arrested and interrogated.

Tanzila Anis and Cancel Culture: Digital Gandhians may not like it but this is the world online left-wing mobs created, and it is here to stay

Tanzila Anis was fired by Gaana today for her obnoxious comments on social media where she spewed venom against the Hindu community. Public pressure was mounting on Gaana when the platform decided to act against Tanzila Anis. And the events have once again brought to the fore ‘cancel culture’ and discussions around it have gained momentum.

Some principled individuals have critiqued the campaign that was underway to get her fired while other not-so-principled commentators have conveniently chosen to jump on the anti-Cancel Culture bandwagon now that it suits their objectives.

In any discussion around Cancel Culture, it is important to trace the roots of the phenomenon and decipher how it all began. The decision by the music streaming platform was precipitated by comments made in the aftermath of the murder of Rinku Sharma which allegedly dehumanized the Bajrang Dal activist. It did not occur in a vacuum, it was the logical consequence of a precedent that has been set by multinational corporations and other giants.

The decision by Gaana comes only a day later after Disney, a giant in the entertainment industry, decided to fire Gina Carano from The Mandalorian for her problematic social media posts. They gave reasons that make sense to some but not to most sane individuals.

Regardless of what Disney might say, Gina Carano was fired because she is unapologetically right-wing. A campaign to have her removed from the web series has been underway for months. It’s only now that Disney has ultimately caved in, after finding an excuse they figured they could get behind.

How Cancel Culture began

Cancel Culture, in its initial days, was entirely a left-wing phenomenon. Left-wing online mobs would build pressure on business institutions to fire individuals who refused to toe the party line. Such mobs would also call for individuals and entities to be de-platformed from the internet.

The first such person to be ‘deplatformed’ was James Damore. The then Google employee had shared a memo with his colleagues, replete with data and figures, which made some factual observations and argued against the diversity policies implemented by the tech giant.

The now famous ‘Google memo’ attracted huge attention and eventually led to Damore losing his job at Google due to incredible pressure by online left-wing mobs. The next big moment came in 2018 and the protagonist, or antagonist depending on one’s perspective, was Infowars founder Alex Jones.

The famous conspiracy theorist was removed from Twitter, YouTube, Facebook and pretty much everywhere else. But it did not stop there. Cancel Culture was just beginning.

Since then, it has claimed the career opportunities of many. One of the more unfortunate incidents was when Kyle Kashuv, a Conservative activist, lost his spot at Harvard University after problematic private comments he had made as a kid basically found their way into public discourse.

Other high-profile victims of Cancel Culture include celebrated journalist Donald McNeil Jr. and former Times Opinion Editor James Bennett but the real victims of ‘Cancel Culture’ have not been celebrities but ordinary individuals who have had their lives destroyed because online left-wing mobs decided to come for them.

Cancel Culture comes to India

In India, too, ‘Cancel Culture’ was imported from abroad by liberals and their cohorts. A wise man once remarked, “Indian liberalism is western progressivism with a time lag.” And the manner in which the phenomenon was imported to India further demonstrates that. On an unrelated note, the wise man mentioned earlier is this journalist himself. But enough of the jokes.

During its initial stages in India, a ‘liberal’ journalist with a verified handle on Twitter went after a celebrity chef for comments he made on social media. The chef, who had a business assignment in Dubai back then, became a victim of the phenomenon after the ‘liberal’ journalist dragged the attention of Dubai authorities to comments he had made.

Following that, Islamist on social media started attacking Hindus in Islamic countries over their social media activity. As a consequence of it, many Hindus have been arrested abroad.

An alliance of liberals and Islamists with their friends abroad have also made attempts to cancel OpIndia by going after companies whose advertisements appear on our pages but unfortunately for them, it did not have any impact at all. But that was not due to a lack of efforts.

Liberal Justifications for the phenomenon

There are plenty of justifications for the phenomenon to be found from ’eminent intellectuals’ on the internet. Some argue that it is a business decision by a company after performing a swift cost-benefit analysis of the whole situation.

Others argue that private companies are at liberty to employ and fire people if they violate company guidelines. It is also argued that if an employee conducts himself or herself in a manner that brings disgrace to their employers, then it ought to be perfectly acceptable to fire them.

It is emphasized that it is entirely the decision of a private entity whose primary objective is maximizing its own profits. It is conflated with the situation where a bakery owned by Christians refused to bake a cake for a gay wedding citing their religious beliefs and the fact that they were a private entity.

On the face of it, there is very little wrong with the arguments. We may hate the outcome but we cannot disagree that it is based on sound reasoning. At the end of the day, private entities are at complete liberty to fire employees that disgrace their reputation. It will be very hard to argue that they should not have the liberty.

This is the world we live in

Unfortunate as it may seem, this is the world that we live in today in the 21st century. People on social media often suffer under the delusion that the internet is a ‘virtual world’ but quite clearly, it can have and does have devastating real life consequences.

We may not like ‘Cancel Culture’ but it is here to stay with us. The game was invented by the left-wing mob and only a foolish person, or a terribly idealistic individual, would argue that one side should continue to suffer the effects of it without retaliating.

People who argue that the right-wing and the non-left in India should not celebrate Tanzila Anis losing her job at Gaana are the Digital Gandhians of the 21st Century. Pathological Gandhianism of turning the other cheek when slapped the first time did not work out too well in the previous century and there is no evidence to suggest that it will work out well this time around either.

The Common Man on the Indian internet can be inspired to abandon the Cancel Culture bandwagon by appealing to his conscience. But that would not bring an end to the phenomenon itself. The game is being played by celebrity journalists at the New York Times and the Democratic Party and every other prominent multinational corporation.

Digital Gandhians may succeed in convincing the non-Left but what how do they plan to convince the Islamists to not go after Hindus in the Middle East? How do they plan to prevent celebrity western journalists from going after someone they are opposed to? Could they have prevented Disney from firing Gina Carano?

Like Gandhi’s pathological ideology could not prevent Islamists from partitioning the country and unleashing a civil war, Digital Gandhians of the 21st Century will soon realize that Cancel Culture cannot be stopped by appealing to the good conscience of the non-Left.

A recurrent delusion that Digital Gandhians suffer from is that they believe it is about principles and if a logically sound principled argument could be made against a stated proposition, then the debate could be won.

Unfortunately, it was never about principles. It is about power and those with the means to wield it. Disney fired Gina Carano because it could. Social media giants removed a sitting president of the United States from their platforms while ignoring very real threats of violence because they could. If anyone was looking for justice, then they came to the wrong place.

As much as we hate it, the phenomenon will continue to be part and parcel of the internet until and unless the world is forced to radically alter its ideological trajectory. Until that moment comes to pass, the non-Left might as well play the game and make hay while the sun shines.

Tamil Nadu: Political party behind beef fests issues threats to Marwari community for funding BJP, asks them to leave the state

0

In a worrisome incident in Tamil Nadu, a little known political party has have issued pamphlets in Trichy threatening the members of Marwari community to leave the state, reports Commune.

According to the reports, the pamphlet issued by a Tiruchi based party named ‘Tamizhaga Makkal Jananayaka Katchi’ (Tamil Nadu People’s Democracy Party) has accused the Marwari community of fomenting ‘communal’ unrest in the state by funding the BJP. The Islamists further other allege that Marwaris are the ‘fuel’ that keeps the ‘vehicle’ BJP running.

Threatening the Marwari community, the pamphlet said that ‘if the fuel is stopped, the vehicle would automatically stop’. The organisation has also issued a warning saying any violence and damage to public property directed towards Marwaris will be the responsibility of the Marwari community and asked the government to collect compensation from them.

Marwaris funding BJP, stealing jobs

The pamphlet also accused the Marwari community of ‘stealing jobs and business opportunities from Tamilians’ and demanded that Marwaris leave Tamil Nadu and go back to their ‘native place’.

In the end, the pamphlet issued a threat, “We will provide a livelihood to those who come here.. if you make mischief we’ll shut down your shops permanently”.

To incite people, the pamphlet also made dubious claims saying that BJP leader Kalyanaraman had spoken derogatory words against Islam as he enjoyed the support and financial backing of the Marwaris. They had also asked all the Muslim shop keepers to close their shops in solidarity with Muslims to condemn Kalyanaraman’s communal speech.

The Islamists had distributed pamphlets to the shopkeepers in the area and had asked them to shut their shops on 8th February.

Marwari community in shock, BJP protests

Following the hate speech against the Marwari community by the Islamists, BJP workers protested against the hate campaign and demanded TPDP members’ arrest for threatening the community members and advocating violence, reports Dinathanthi.

The radical Islamic organisation TPDP was founded by one KM Shariff, a disciple of Palani Baba alias Ahmed Ali, a notorious fundamentalist Muslim leader.

Instead of arresting the culprits, the TN police detained the protesting BJP leaders and Marwari community members. More than 75 people were arrested and later let off. After severe protests, the police acted and arrested four TPDP members.

Party had organised beef fest

Tamizhaga Makkal Jananayaka Katchi is known for its Islamist nature. In 2015, it had organised beef festival in Tamil Nadu, along with several other parties. The beef fest was organised to condemn the Dadri lyching incident.

Arrested JeM terrorist confesses of conducting recce at the office of NSA Ajit Doval in 2019, sent videos to his Pakistani commander

0

A Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorist, Hidayat-Ullah Malik, arrested on February 6, has confessed that he had carried out reconnaissance at the office of National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval and several other locations in 2019 and had shared the video clips with his commander in Pakistan.

During interrogation, Malik also revealed how he had taken a flight from Srinagar to Delhi on May 24, 2019 and recorded a video of Doval’s office including the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) security detail there. He said that he had passed it on to his Pakistani commander, whom they referred to as Doctor, through WhatsApp.

A senior Jammu police official, privy to the case, confirmed that the security officials recovered video clip of the office of National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval and several other top locations in the national capital from the phone of an arrested Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorist.

Following this input, the security at the office of the NSA has been heightened.

According to reports, Hidayat-Ullah Malik also confessed during his interrogation that he had conducted recce of the Samba sector border area in mid 2019, along with Sameer Ahmad Dar, who was arrested by NIA in January last year for his involvement with the 2019 Pulwama terror attack.

The Jaish operator also disclosed names, code names, and phone numbers of 10 of his contacts in Pakistan, including the handler, the information of which has been passed on to the security agencies.

The dreaded JeM terrorist Hidayat-Ullah Malik, who is a resident of Shopian, was arrested by the security agencies from Anantnag on February 6 and charged under several sections of Unlawful Activities Prevention Act at the Gangayal police station in Jammu. Malik is the chief of a Jaish front group, Lashkar-e-Mustafa. Police also recovered arms and ammunition from his possession.

Malik joined the Hizbul Mujahideen on July 31, 2019. He worked as an over-ground worker for the Jaish before that. Malik again shifted to Jaish in February 2020 and raised a front group in August that year.

According to Hindustan Times, the JeM terrorist had provided a car (Hyundai Santro) for a suicide attack in May 2020. He also confessed that he and three other Jaish terrorists, namely Irfan Thokar, Umar Mushtaq and Rayees Mustafa, had looted Rs 60 lakh from a Jammu and Kashimir Bank’s cash van in Shopian in November 2020.

Mumbai police hunt for ‘Irfan’, say Navy sailor was not abducted from Chennai airport, but have no idea how he reached Palghar

0

Days after a 27-year-old Navy sailor named Suraj Kumar Dubey succumbed to his burn injuries, the Palghar police have begun the hunt for a man named ‘Irfan’. Dubey, a resident of Ranchi in Jharkhand, was abducted and set ablaze in Vevji village in Talasari Taluka in Palghar near the Maharashtra-Gujarat border.

As per reports, a missing complaint was filed by the deceased’s father Mithilesh Dubey with the Chainpur police on February 1. The police had been monitoring the two mobile phones of Suraj Kumar Dubey and got alerted when a SIM card was inserted into them. The deceased’s cousin Vishal informed that the murderers deleted his Whatsapp or changed the settings such as the ‘last seen’ on his Whatsapp became unavailable. On dialling the number, a person named ‘Irfan’ picked up the phone. He then disconnected and switched off the cell phone.

Mithilesh stated, “That was my son’s voice. He sounded petrified. He might have been trying to tell us that he is held captive by Irfan. The police must find out who is Irfan.” Dubey’s parents are of the belief that it was their son trying to give them a signal. However, CCTV footage of the crime spot has not thrown any clues for the police. “No suspected named Irfan has been identified. Our investigations are on in full swing”, Palghar SP Shinde said.

Suraj Dubey was not abducted from Chennai airport, alleges Palghar police

The Palghar police have alleged that Navy sailor Suraj Dubey was not abducted from Chennai, as previously stated. The cops stated that the victim was seen roaming the streets of Chennai. While speaking about the development, Palghar SP Datta Shinde claimed, “Dubey was not kidnapped outside Chennai airport; in fact, he was roaming freely outside Chennai airport, Metro station and a bus stand in the city. So, it will not be true to say that he was kidnapped just outside Chennai airport.”

Cops remain clueless about how Navy Sailor reached Mumbai

According to Shinde, the deceased Navy sailor was seen with his bag in some footage and without his red-coloured bag in other places. He was also seen withdrawing  ₹5000 from an ATM on February 1. The police concluded that Suraj Dubey was not kidnapped outside Chennai airport as he said in his testimony. The cops are however clueless as to how the Navy sailor reached Mumbai from Chennai, before ending up in a burnt state in Palghar forest. The cops are checking for booking details of airlines and Indian Railways to ascertain if he reached Mumbai via flight or railways.

The Palghar SP added, “We have recovered footage from around six CCTV cameras and have concluded that he was not kidnapped just outside the Chennai airport as he claimed.” Although the cops have claimed that they have sent forensic evidence from the crime scene to the Directorate of Forensic Science Laboratory (DFSL) in Kalina, Midday reported that the forensic body did not receive samples that could help determine the inflammable fluid used to burn the victim.

Suraj Dubey murder case: What we know so far

A case was registered against 3 unidentified people at the Gholwad police station under Indian Penal Code (IPC) Sections 34 (acts done in furtherance of common intention), 302 (murder), 364 (kidnapping), and 392 (robbery). The police had initiated a probe in the case and began investigating how the Navy sailor was taken 1500kms away to a forest in Palghar from Chennai. The cops also analysed mobile call records and CCTV footage to get leads on the culprits.

Dubey had recently got engaged and was to be married in about three months’ time. He worked as a seaman at INS Agrani training school in Coimbatore. The victim, who was on a leave, had returned to Chennai on January 31 via a flight. At around 9 pm, the Navy sailor was threatened by three people with a revolver and his cellphone was snatched away. As per his claims, the unidentified men then forced Dubey into a white SUV and asked him to pay ₹10 lacs as ransom.

He was kept hostage at an unknown location in Chennai. After being detained there for 3 days, the Navy official was taken to a forest in Vevji village in Talasari Taluka in Palghar near the Maharashtra-Gujarat border on Friday (February 5) morning. He was doused with petrol and set ablaze by the three perpetrators. Dube suffered 90% burn injuries as he lay without clothes in the forest. On finding him naked, the locals informed the Vevji police station. Dubey was then admitted to a hospital in Dahanu, where his condition continued to worsen. He was rushed to the military hospital INHS Asvini and was declared dead on arrival.
