Uttar Pradesh: In an initiative taken by local BJP MLA, Hindus gift burial ground to Muslims in Ayodhya

In an overwhelming gesture, Hindus have donated land to the Muslim community to build a burial ground in Belrikhan village which falls under the Gosaiganj Assembly constituency in Ayodhya District, Uttar Pradesh.

The unique display of communal harmony which was propelled by the local BJP MLA Indra Pratap Tiwari, also known as Khabbu Tiwari, said, “The tradition of Hindu-Muslim brotherhood here is not new. This was a small token of love from Hindus to Muslims. I hope this amity will continue.”

This piece of land had been the reason for communal disharmony for several years, until one Surya Kumar Jhinkan Maharaj, a local seer, and eight other shareholders, prompted by the BJP MLA, signed the registered deed for 1.25 bighas of land on June 20 to end the dispute forever.

“The land belonged to Hindus as per records. It is by the side of a graveyard and some Muslims have buried their dead on the land. There were disputes and tension. But now, we have settled the matter,” Jhinkan Maharaj was quoted by IANS. “The deed is now in favour of the Qabristan Committee, Gosainganj and it will soon be entered in revenue records,” said Vais Ansari, President of the Qabristan Committee.

The other signatories to the land deed are Ram Prakash Bablu, Ram Singar Pandey, Ram Shabad, Jiya Ram, Subhash Chandra, Rita Devi, Vindhyachal and Awadhesh Pandey.

Sub-registrar SB Singh confirmed the land transfers to the Muslims for the graveyard and said, “It’s a gift from the Hindu community through a proper deed and stamp duty.”

Haji Abdul Haq, the chief Imam of Gosaiganj Jama Masjid, praising the heart-wrenching gesture said, “It is an exemplary act of kindness. It shows the world that we can coexist in peace and harmony,” the Imam said.

Moreover, overwhelmed by the sensitivity shown by Hindu’s, who donated the land to Muslims because it had tombs of their forefathers, some people of the Muslim community said that Muslim should also show equal sensibility and stop politicising and staking a claim on the disputed Ayodhya Rambhoomi site.

‘Who will migrate now that we have come to power’: CM Yogi dismisses reports of Hindu exodus from Meerut

Responding to the reports of the exodus of Hindu families in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ruled out the migration angle and said that there might be some cases of personal disputes but there was no migration.

Addressing a press conference today, CM Yogi said, “Who will migrate now that we have come to power?”

A complaint was registered by a BJP leader on NaMo app recently claiming that at least 125 Hindu families have migrated from Prahlad Nagar in Meerut owing to the harassment of Hindu women by the Muslims on the area. The area has Muslims in majority while the number of Hindy families is around 425.

The complaint received on NaMo app was forwarded by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) to the Chief Minister’s office (CMO) which sought a report on the matter. BJP MP from Meerut Rajendra Aggarwal termed the situation serious and said that he would talk to the CM about the same. A letter was written by the Vishwa Hindu Mahasabha seeking security for Hindus in Meerut.

Telangana female forest officer attacked by TRS leader Koneru Krishna and his followers during plantation drive

A female forest officer in Komaram Bheem Asifabad district in Telangana was attacked with sticks by a group of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) members today. The men were allegedly led by TRS leader Koneru Krishna.

In the video shared on social media, the officer, Chole Anitha, can be seen standing on a tractor while a group of men holding wooden sticks surround her. They start attacking the vehicle and one of them hit Anita as well, fracturing her right hand. The injured officer is currently being treated at a hospital.

In a video taken at the hospital, Anita had named TRS leader Koneru Krishna Rao as the one who attacked her and led the mob. Krishna is a Zilla Parishad vice-chairman and is also the brother of Kagaznagar MLA Koneru Konappa.

Reportedly, Anitha along with her staff went to Sarsala forest village with tractors to plough 20-acre land for Harita Haaram, a mass tree plantation programme. This was a mandatory afforestation programme to compensate for the loss of forest land due to the government’s flagship Kaleswaram multipurpose irrigation project.

When she had ordered her staff to start the work, a few villagers of Sarsala arrived in a mob and started using filthy language and also attacked the officer. She alleges that Krishna Rao had dragged her by the hair. She then climbed the tractor to escape after which she was attacked by sticks. As per reports, an official letter of the Forest department clearly mentions Koneru Krishna as the one who led the attack.

While responding to the allegations Krishna said, “Forest department is terrorising the aboriginal adivasi farmers and confiscating their land forcefully. I was there to resolve the issue and to ensure justice for tribal as forest officials were destroying crops in the name afforestation. I tried to pacify department authorities but in vain, the attack was accidental action not intentional.”

The state government has taken serious note of the attack. Several men including TRS leader Krishna have already been booked. District superintendent of police Malla Reddy visited Anitha at the hospital and assured her of stringent action against those responsible.

There have been several reports of mob violence recently. Two days ago, in Uttar Pradesh, a Muslim mob attacked Dalits inside a temple for playing bhajans on the loudspeaker. In Mirzapur, a mob beats up a young man while he was going to the temple.

Petrol pump workers express disappointment at people mocking Team India’s orange jersey likening it to pump attendant uniform

Ever since Team India’s Away jersey was revealed, the ‘liberals’ have been up in the arms against the same. While some called it ‘saffronisation’ because of the orange colour, others chose to mock it by referring to it as ‘petrol pump’ uniform.

Apparently, the ‘liberal’ elites have no qualms in mocking the working class just because they don’t agree with a particular political ideology.

Team India’s Away jersey has colours which are similar to the Indian Oil’s logo and the pump attendants used to wear similar colour uniform earlier. OpIndia talked to a few Indian Oil petrol pump workers who said they are extremely proud that the team India is wearing their colours.

The petrol pump attendant above said that the new Team India jersey has colours similar to their previous uniform. He said that has put them up on an international platform. He says it is a matter of pride for India. “Those who mock, let them, but we are very happy,” said Shivkumar Verma, an Indian Oil petrol pump worker.

Dharamraj Diwakar, another petrol pump worker based in Ahmedabad said he is proud that the Team India is wearing uniform of colour similar to theirs. “We are getting respect even from the customers who used to talk to us rudely,” he said.

Prakash Verma, another petrol pump worker OpIndia talked to said that he is proud that Indian cricket team is wearing uniform which has colours similar to their uniform.

Team India’s new jersey has been embroiled in controversies since the new colour schemence was announced. It was previously reported that team India was required to change its colours while playing against England. This new rule of jersey by ICC is inspired by the concept of ‘home’ and ‘away’ jerseys in soccer, where if the two teams have the same colour kit, the home team can retain it while the visiting team has to use a different coloured kit.

Maharashtra: Mohammad Shaikh killed by 15-year-old brother for scolding him over playing PUBG game

A 15-year-old minor boy from Bhiwandi in Thane district of Maharashtra allegedly killed his elder brother, Mohammad Shaik (19), for scolding him over playing the PUBG game on his mobile phone.

The minor boy infuriated by his brother’s interference allegedly banged the head of Shaikh against a wall and stabbed him repeatedly with scissors, said senior police inspector Mamata D’Souza.

Shaikh was rushed to the nearby government hospital where he was declared brought dead. A case has been registered under section 302 (Punishment for murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), said D’Souza.

PUBG is an online multiplayer battle game developed by a South Korean Firm. Several concerns have been raised across the world regarding the addictive nature of the game, which also has a tendency to push children towards violent behaviour. Parents and educators say the game incites violence and distracts students from their studies.

Addiction to PUBG has been highlighted in many instances before. There have been issues of lack of concentration, falling academic performance and sleep deprivation due to reduced physical activity reported among students and youngsters. Last month in Telangana, a 16-year-old boy had committed suicide after he was scolded by his parents for spending too much time being engrossed in the mobile game.

Several cities in Gujarat have banned PUBG by circulars issued by the respective police departments. The Gujarat Child Rights body had also sent a letter to the national Commission of child Rights and had asked the respective Child Rights bodies of all states to help curb the negative effects of the game.

On March 15, Gujarat police had arrested ten students, including six college students in Rajkot for allegedly playing the PUBG game on their mobile phones despite the police banning it. Similarly, the CRPF had also imposed a ban on its troops from playing the game as it affects the operational and socialising capabilities of the Jawans.

Madhya Pradesh: NSCB Medical College staff drags patient to X-ray room on a bedsheet

A shocking video has surfaced in which the staff at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose (NSCB) Medical College in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, was caught on camera dragging a patient to the X-Ray room on a bed sheet.

After the incident caught public attention, the Dean of the college, Dr Navneet Saxena said three people were suspended after the incident adding that an inquiry has been launched in the matter after which action will be taken against those found guilty.

“Three persons have been suspended by the administration. An inquiry is underway and action will be taken against all found guilty,” Dr Saxena told reporters in Jabalpur.

However, this is not the first incident throwing light on the government hospital’s apathy towards its patients. Recently, reports on the outbreak of Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur had also revealed the unpreparedness and the apathy of the government and the hospitals falling under them in tackling the epidemic which consumed the lives of over 200 children in Bihar.

Recently, a JDU MLA had exposed the government’s callousness and negligence when it came to dealing with the recent crisis in the state of Bihar.

Apart from the government’s callousness, the pathetic conditions of the government hospitals also came in the forefront. Several skeletal remains had been unearthed behind the hospital premises of SKMC Hospital in Muzaffarpur, drawing serious concerns over the management issues and lackadaisical approach of healthcare authorities of Muzaffarpur’s biggest hospital.

The hospital and Bihar’s health system at large were constantly criticised in the media over the lack of adequate medical facilities, the filth on the premises, the dilapidated conditions of the hospital and unavailability of doctors.

Cricket World Cup semi final scenario: The fight for the 4th place

Australia has already qualified for the semi-final with 14 points in their eight games. India and New Zealand are almost sure to qualify with 11 points each even if they lose all remaining games in the tournament.

How? Let’s first look at the Points table.

Teams Mat Won Lost NR Points NRR
Australia 8 7 1 0 14 1.000
India 6 5 0 1 11 1.160
New Zealand 8 5 2 1 11 0.572
Pakistan 8 4 3 1 9 -0.792
England 7 4 3 0 8 1.051
Bangladesh 7 3 3 1 7 -0.133
Sri Lanka 7 2 3 2 6 -1.186
South Africa 8 2 5 1 5 -0.080
West Indies 7 1 5 1 3 -0.320
Afghanistan 8 0 8 0 0 -1.418

The minimum points required to qualify for the first three positions is 11. Both India and New Zealand have 11 points already.

INDIA

So even if India loses its next three games, they will still qualify because of their superior run rate.

NEW ZEALAND

New Zealand will also qualify if they lose the last game against England because of their high run rate. Even if they lose it by a considerable margin, their run rate will not go beyond 0.

ENGLAND

If they have to qualify, they have to win at least one game. They have 8 points before India’s game, now if they win both the games, they will have 12 points and will qualify with Australia, India and New Zealand. However, if they lose one of the matches, their fortunes will depend on India-Bangladesh and Bangladesh-Pakistan. To qualify they would need Bangladesh to lose against India and Pakistan to lose against Bangladesh. Also if Sri Lanka (6 points) win their next two games against West Indies and India, they will not qualify as England will have five wins, while Sri Lanka would have only 4 (2 points for washout).

PAKISTAN

After their win against Afghanistan, they are placed at number 4 in the points table with 9 points. They would want England to lose at least one game so that England has a maximum of 10 points and then Pakistan beat Bangladesh in their last group match. With 11 points they will qualify. Pakistan v Bangladesh will virtually become a quarter-final.

BANGLADESH

They have to win both games against India and Pakistan to reach 11 points. If England loses both the matches against India and New Zealand, then Bangladesh needs to win at least one against either India or Pakistan. With 9 points they will qualify with a better run rate. Of course, at the same time, they have to pray that Sri Lanka loses at least one game against India or West Indies.

SRI LANKA

They have to hope for England to lose both the games and then India needs to beat Bangladesh, and Bangladesh needs to beat Pakistan, in that scenario both Bangladesh and Pakistan will have 9 points, and if Sri Lanka win their last two matches against West Indies and India, they will have 10 points, and they will qualify.

Uttar Pradesh: Four cousins along with a teacher raped a minor girl for two years because she excelled in her studies

In another horrific incident, a minor girl was gang-raped for nearly two years by her own four cousins as they were jealous of her sister for excelling in studies. A teacher also participated in the crime against the girl.

Reportedly, the girl was allegedly raped inside a school by her four cousins and her own teacher, who captured the video of the rape inside the Islamia school in Sadarpur of Bareilly district, in Uttar Pradesh.

The incident came to the fore after the video of the rape reached the family WhatsApp group. As the parents of the victim came to know about the horrific incident, the victim then narrated the incident and accused her cousins and teacher of raping for nearly two years.

“Once the minor girl was sedated, the youths and their teacher took turns to rape her while one of them filmed the act on a mobile phone. When she regained consciousness, she was told she fainted on the playground and was hence, brought to the staff room. She realised what went on during those times only after the clips were shared,” said a police officer.

According to the police, the cousins wanted to “cut her to size” for excelling in studies while they failed in exams. Apparently, all of them lived in the same house and the cousins were allegedly often humiliated by the girl who stood first in the class.

Speaking to the media, Madhuvan Kumar Singh, Additional SP (north) confirmed that the girl in her complaint had said she was gang-raped by her cousins many times in the past two years.

The spate of incidents of criminal assaults against women especially minor girls in Uttar Pradesh has been on the rise. At the beginning of this month, at least five cases of crime against young girls have come to fore across different parts of Uttar Pradesh. Visibly miffed with the police for failing to ‘instil fear’ among criminals in the state, Uttar Pradesh CM, Yogi Adityanath, in a high-level meeting with senior police and home department officials on June 11, had asked the state police to re-activate the anti-Romeo squad.

Despite, persistent efforts by Uttar Pradesh government, recently we reported how 19-year-old Tausif Imran Khan had repeatedly raped a 14-year-old class X girl and recorded her on his mobile phone. He had, allegedly, also attempted to brainwash her to convert to Islam by taking her to various religious places.

In another such incident, on June 17, this time a teen boy had allegedly been raped by four men of his village in the Puwaya area in Shahjahanpur.

Moreover, recently, we had reported how the barbarity exhibited in the brutal killing of a three-year-old Tina (name changed) by Zahid and Aslam in Aligarh has shaken the conscience of the country.

Baby ‘Narendra Modi’ is now Aftab, the mother blames her journalist cousin for convincing her to pull off the ‘fraud’

The Muslim woman, Mainaz Begum, in Wazirgan, Gonda, Uttar Pradesh, who had re-named her newborn as Aftab Alam Mohd, after initially naming him ‘Narendra Damodardas Modi’, claiming pressure from family and community, now blames her journalist cousin for brainwashing her into doing so, reports Indian Express.

She has blamed her journalist cousin, Mushtaq Ahmed, a journalist with Hindi daily Hindustan in Gonda, for allegedly convincing her to pull off the ‘fraud’.

“Humein kya pata tha ki itni aafat aa jayegi. Hum toh apne khala ke ladke ke behkawe mein aa gaye (I had no idea it would become such a big issue. I fell for what my aunt’s son told me),” Mehnaz said furthering that “Mushtaq made me mug up a short speech and tell media persons that my son was born on May 23 and that I have decided to name him after the Prime Minister. I am illiterate and don’t even know much about Narendra Modi.”

Mainaz who had in an affidavit addressed to the district magistrate and submitted to Assistant Development Officer (Panchayat) Ghanshyam Pandey on May 26, declared that her son was born on May 26, has now gone back on her words saying that her child was born on May 12, not May 23.

As per reports, Mainaz had initially chosen to name her son after the PM since he was born on the same day (May 26) when Modi registered a landslide victory in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Mainaz had then showered praises on Modi and his government’s welfare schemes, including free cooking gas connection to the poor and financial help to construct toilets and the government’s initiative to end triple talaq.

Impressed by Modi’s work, she had then shown adamancy on naming her child after the Prime Minister. It was then reported that initially, Mainaz’s family was not in favour of her decision, but they ultimately gave in to her adamancy.

On being asked on whether the family feared to face the wrath of extended family and community over the step, her father-in-law, Idrees had then maintained that naming the child was the family’s private affair and “no one should interfere in this.” He claimed that Modiji was the PM and India took pride in it.

However, on May 29, Mainaz Begum decided to change her son’s name to Mohammad Altaf Mohd. She had stated that her family and community members were vehemently opposed to the idea of a Muslim boy being named Narendra Damodardas. She had also claimed that her community had threatened not to perform the child’s circumcision or perform the ‘Hakika’ celebrations for childbirth.

And now, she alleges that her first cousin, Mushtaq Ahmed, not only convinced her to name the child after Modi but also spread the word that the child was born on May 23.

Denying the allegations, the reporter said that Mehnaz had lied to him about her child’s date of birth. He had only agreed to write about it in the newspaper he worked for after Mehnaz told him that she wanted to name her child after the Prime Minister. Mushtaq said on the phone: “It was not my suggestion. She told me she would name her child Narendra Damodardas Modi and I agreed to write about it in the newspaper I work for. But I didn’t know she had lied about the child’s date of birth.”

Senior Reporter, working for the same newspaper, Qamar Abbas, coming out in support of Mushtaq, said, “After the whole thing got a lot of attention from the media, the woman may have been under pressure from her community. She probably fears that her child will be boycotted. Which explains why she is levelling these allegations against my colleague after 10-15 days.”

Meanwhile, KK Upadhyay, who was Editor, Hindustan (Lucknow), when the story was published, said, “We got the story from the village and published it. The story is not false and the child’s name remains the same. The story was verified and the mother later told all media persons what she told us. Her story was published in all newspapers on the same day.”

Bollywood took me away from Islam – Zaira Wasim announces ‘retirement’ from movies on Instagram

Today, Bollywood actor Zaira Wasim announced her retirement from movies in a letter posted on Instagram. In the six-page letter, she says “Bollywood took me away from Islam” and cites the interference on her religious practices as the reason for this decision.

She said that she wasn’t truly happy with her line of work despite her fame and success. It was only while trying to adjust to the new lifestyle did she realized that her career had impacted her relationship with religion.

She explains, “though I may fit here perfectly, I do not belong here”. The Dangal star adds, “This field indeed brought a lot of love, support, and applause my way, but what it also did was to lead me to a path of ignorance, as I silently and unconsciously transitioned out of ‘imaan’ (faith). While I continued to work in an environment that consistently interfered with my ‘imaan’, my relationship with my religion was threatened”.

Talking about the difficulties that she had faced, Zaira Wasim says that she has found solace in Allah and Quran. She says, “In the great and divine wisdom of the Quran, I found sufficiency and peace. Indeed the hearts find peace when it acquires the knowledge of Its Creator, His Attributes, His Mercy and His commandments”.

She says that there are two types of diseases mentioned in the Quran – the first one being doubt and error, the second one being lust and desire. According to her, the Quran says, “In their hearts is a disease (of doubt and hypocrisy) and Allah has increased her diseases. And I realized the remedy to this could only be attained through the guidance of Allah and indeed Allah guided my path when I lost my way”.

She says that she has taken the first step by realizing her true path and has now announced retirement from movies so that she could focus on her faith.

Earlier in 2017, Zaira was targeted by Islamic fundamentalists for acting in a “polluted” medium and acting against “religious norms” and bringing shame and disgrace to the entire Koshur community. Trolls had attacked her after she met with J&K CM Mehbooba Mufti.
