Tendulkar unhappy with MS Dhoni’s lack of intent

Former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has criticised MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav for the lack of intent in their match against Afghanistan.

Both Dhoni and Jadhav played a slow knock which and scored just 57 runs in 14 overs from 30 to 44. Dhoni was real slow in his approach and made only 28 runs in 52 balls at a strike rate of 53.84, the slowest by any batsman who played more than 10 balls in the innings.

Speaking to India Today after the game, Tendulkar said, “MS Dhoni is a senior player and should show positive intent. Afghanistan’s bowling is good but you can’t score only 119 runs in 34 overs. He did not show any positive intent against Afghanistan.”

Indian innings finished at 224 for 8, and Afghanistan then got to within two shots of pulling off the shock of the World Cup before Shami took a hat-trick.

“There were more than 2-3 dot balls. After Virat got out in the 38th over and till the 45th over we hadn’t scored many runs. There were not enough outings for the middle order batsmen till now and that put pressure on them. But the intent could have been much better by the middle order batsmen,” said Tendulkar.

Tendulkar played 6 World Cups for India in which he scored 2278 runs at an average of 56.95 and with a strike rate of 88.98. He holds the record of most runs (2278), centuries (6), half-centuries (15), boundaries (268) man of the match awards (9) in World Cup tournament.

Absconding ‘halal’ investment owner releases a video, offers to surrender, vows to expose big politicians after coming back to India

The absconding owner of IMA jewel, a ‘halal investment’ firm in Bengaluru, Mansoor Khan, who is accused in the Rs 1,500-crore IMA scam, released a videotape, Sunday, in which he offered to surrender but alleged he may be killed on his return to India.

In the 18-minute long video recording, Mansoor Khan, in his message to Bengaluru commissioner Alok Kumar said that he was willing to return to India and expose those responsible for the downfall of his business venture. Khan claimed that because the actual culprits behind the scam are “big names at the state and central levels”, there was every possibility of him being killed as soon as he sets foot in India.

Mansoor Khan furthered that with an intention to return, he had even boarded a plane on June 14, but was deplaned by officials who said he cannot be allowed out of the country. “I was asked to contact the Immigration Department, but due to Jummah (Friday prayers), it was shut,” Khan said.

While the businessman’s exact location is still not known, investigators believe he is in hiding in Dubai. His family is believed to be somewhere in India. “I must admit that leaving my motherland was a big mistake, but I was betrayed by those I called my own,” he said in the video released.

Over 30,000 complaints have been filed against IMA Jewels so far by investors who had hoped for good returns under terms prescribed by Islamic law but instead ended up losing their money. As per reports over 1 lakh people have invested in the company.

The founder and managing director of IMA jewels, Mohammad Mansoor Khan had suddenly gone missing on June 11, after an audio clip where he claimed he is ending his life due to financial distress went viral. Following this, many investors went to Khan’s office only to find it shut.

Moreover, in the audio clip released then, Khan accused senior Congress MLA Roshan Baig of arm twisting and refusing to return Rs 400 crore which he had taken after he failed to get a Lok Sabha ticket for the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections. Khan has also alleged that he is being harassed by several politicians and government officers who had taken money from him.

Baig, however, dismissed the allegations and called the audio clip fake. Khan had alleged that following the threat, he had moved his family members to a village and he himself was staying in South Bengaluru.

Meanwhile, Mansoor Khan in the recent video is heard telling Alok Kumar that he wants to return to India and participate in the probe, regardless of the danger to his life. “If I am allowed to return, I shall place the truth in front of your investigation team and then let the law take its course,” he said. “I want to present all the evidence I have before the police and courts. But the people involved in this scam are no small fry… if I divulge their names now, they will find my family in India and wipe them out. They are probably planning to kill me as soon as I reach India.”

Khan admitted that threatening to commit suicide in his previous audio message was a mistake. “That was a very demotivated statement. But if I am to die anyway, why shouldn’t I let my enemies there do it for me instead? They can kill me in custody, or after I have been produced in court, or out on the streets if they let me out on bail,” he said in the video message.

The IMA owner maintained that his financial venture was no Ponzi scheme, and he would do everything in his power to ensure that the investors are compensated. “Ever since the IMA was founded in 2006, it has disbursed around Rs 12,000 crores in profit earned among investors and even returned Rs 2,000 crore in capital investment. But we are willing to liquidate whatever assets we have, worth around Rs 1,350 crore, in an effort to pay back to those we owe money,” he said.

While interest-based investment in banking is prohibited under Islam, IMA would take money from investors and invested it in bullion trading, schools, hospitals, etc. In return, IMA would pay 2-4 % interest every month to investors.

Recently, there were reports that the RBI had in a 2018 letter revealed the inaction of the JD(S)-Congress led Karnataka government against IMA jewels. Reportedly, the RBI had written a letter in November 2018 asking the Karnataka state government to launch a probe into IMA jewels, a halal investment group. However, the Karnataka Congress-JDS government ignored RBI warning and did not act against the ‘halal’ investment group.

Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury passes repulsive remarks against PM Modi, likens him to ‘gandi naali’ in Lok Sabha

Taking political discourse to a new nadir, Congress MP from West Bengal and now the leader of the Congress party in Lok Sabha, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury used an obnoxious analogy to attack PM Narendra Modi. Chowdhury compared PM Modi to ‘gandi naali’ while replying to the Motion of Thanks moved by Pratap Singh Sarangi.

In an offence launched by Chowdhury against the BJP, he insulted the Prime Minister with his objectionable remarks. Taking a swipe at the PM, Chowdhury said there was no comparison between Indira Gandhi and Narendra Modi. He further added that “Ganga and gandi naali (dirty drain) can’t be compared”, to which members of the ruling party protested and demanded that his words be expunged.

The speaker pacified the worked up ruling party members saying if any unparliamentary word was used by Chowdhury it would be expunged from the record.

Responding to the motion of thanks moved by Pratap Singh Sarangi, Chowdhury drew the attention on the water crisis in the country and the deaths of children due to encephalitis in Bihar. He also alleged that the leaders of the ruling party were now indulging in worshipping Narendra Modi.

In a blistering attack, Chowdhury dared the Prime Minister to take action against Congress president Rahul Gandhi and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi. “Did you succeed to catch anybody in 2G and coal allocation scam? Did you manage to send Sonia Gandhiji and Rahul Gandhiji behind the bars? You came to power by calling them thieves, then how are they sitting in Parliament? Why are not they in jail?” he questioned.

Chowdhury however, apologized after his controversial remarks created an uproar stating that his Hindi was not good.

In addition to this, Chowdhury also put forth a bizarre demand in the parliament suggesting that Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman’s moustache be declared as ‘national moustache.’

Kabir Singh is a filthy degenerate but the movie is not a ‘celebration of toxic masculinity’

Kabir Singh has recorded great revenues at the Box Office since it was released. Shahid Kapoor features as the male lead in the movie who suffers from alcohol and drug addiction following the marriage of his girlfriend to someone else. It’s a story love and redemption, we are told, and Kapoor is said to have done a pretty good job as the anti-hero.

However, the movie appears to have struck a sensitive nerve with ‘feminists’. Ever since its release, the so-called feminists are up in arms against the movie, for what they call, a celebration of ‘Toxic Masculinity’. The conduct of the character is, without a shadow of a doubt, quite deplorable. However, one can question whether it’s a celebration of deplorable behaviour at all.

First and foremost, it’s a movie. We are constantly told by the same ‘liberals’ that movies have no impact on real life whatsoever, that it’s only for entertainment. When the release of Padmavat was being opposed by Hindu groups, they strongly protested asserting that it’s just for entertainment and should be treated as such, that Hindus should not take the movie seriously. Wonder what has changed now?

One cannot have different yardsticks for different issues while wearing the garb of neutrality and intellect. One should admit that they are partisan with regards to certain issues and that other people can be partisan with a separate set of issues. They should honestly drop arguments such as “It’s just a movie” the next time Hindus oppose the release of a certain movie because it’s quite obvious that they themselves don’t treat movies as mere entertainment either.

The duplicity of the feminists is also visible in their outrage as well. In Game of Thrones, when Sansa Stark was raped by Ramsey Bolton in season 5, there was great outrage by feminists and even demands for an apology from the makers and withdrawal of the scene was made. The makers, to my knowledge, never did and rightly so. Because Ramsey was a villain.

A similar outrage from feminists never came when Ramsey actually chopped off Theon Greyjoy’s penis and made a sausage out of it which he appeared to eat later on. This was in addition to the inhumane torture Theon was put through, he was even flayed. But feminists, somehow, did not have too much of a problem with that. If feminism was all about equality, where was the outrage then?

More recently, a web series titled Mirzapur was released. In the series, one of the main characters is quite toxic and another popular character, the villain in the story, actually attempted to kidnap the lead’s sister with the intention to violate her dignity. Yet, no outrage was heard from these feminists then. In fact, Mirzapur received rave reviews from all quarters.

Going further back, there was the movie Ranjhaanaa where the lead, portrayed by Dhanush, was a stalker. Amusingly enough, the female lead in the movie was Sonam Kapoor who had no issues with featuring in this celebration of stalking, which it actually was. Swara Bhasker, another vocal feminist famous mainly for her hypocrisy and political stunts with defeated politicians, too, featured in the movie and even defended it when it was criticized for its portrayal of stalking.

Even in Padmavat, Ranveer Singh portrayed a pretty toxic character, the rapist, jihadist probably bisexual Alauddin Khilji, yet most feminists were drooling over him and were criticizing Rani Padmavati’s jauhar, the act of self-immolation, which was forced by Khilji’s perversion. These are just a few instances feminists have displayed a remarkable double-standard in their outrage.

Now, let us look at the behaviour by Kabir Singh that is being labelled ‘Toxic Masculinity’ by the same ‘feminists’. There were instances where the lead referred to the female lead as ‘Meri Bandi’ which feminists found problematic. There was an instance where the lead apparently forcibly kissed the lead without her consent, forced to strip under threat and slapped. Now, these are all extremely disgusting behaviour.

However, is it a celebration of disgusting behaviour or mere portrayal? Not every portrayal is a celebration. Let’s get this clear, Kabir Singh is a filthy degenerate for large parts of the movie. He is an addict, has serious anger issues, doesn’t know how to treat women properly and probably belongs in prison or an asylum. However, there is a tale of redemption as well.

All of his degenerate behaviours lands him in huge trouble, has his medical license cancelled and evicted from his flat. Eventually, after more personal grief, he fixes his own life, gives up his self-destructive habits, then as fate would have it, everything ends on a positive note.

Therefore, the whole story has a redemptive arc. Such stories, by definition, cannot be a celebration of toxic behaviour. In such stories, a disgusting person (which Kabir Singh is initially) suffers significant personal grief and misery as a consequence of his degenerate and atrocious conduct and eventually realizes his folly and turns over a new leaf. Therefore, it’s a progression from evil to good. Thus, to call it a celebration of toxic masculinity is way off the mark.

A film reviewer says, “Kabir says, it is 2019 and caste shouldn’t be an issue in the union of two lovers. But it’s 2019 and this is not what you expect girls to do, either. Especially, a girl who has been brought up to be ambitious, study medicine and do something worthwhile in her life.” Well, that’s an extremely myopic view on how women are or expected to be. Why should even women, leave alone fictional women, conform to the standards the so-called feminists set for them? Last I checked it was all about free-will.

‘Educated girls don’t tolerate abusive behaviour from their romantic partners in 2019,’ is the essential argument. However, reality couldn’t be farther from the truth. Educated girls growing up in Western countries are running off to join ISIS and become either sex slaves themselves or assist their husbands in raping the sex slaves. We have educated women who are obsessed with serial killers and psychopaths and other violent men as evidenced by groupies that surround these people.

Women are humans, feminists tend to forget that sometimes. Women can be evil and stupid and idiots and ugly and vengeful and cheats and thugs and sometimes, all at the same time because they are human just as men are. Men can be all of these things as well, but generally more frequently. In this particular movie, the lead actress was someone who didn’t mind the fact that her boyfriend had something revolting traits.

She liked that he was dominating, perhaps she didn’t even mind being slapped or the fact that he was putting boundaries around her. Why is it so difficult for feminists to imagine that a woman can be this way? Are feminists actually claiming that they know no women in their lives who loves a man despite his disgusting traits?

Funnily enough, the movie is actually quite progressive. Two individuals fall in love and despite the disapproval of the girl’s family due to their caste and even after being forced to marry some other guy, they end up together and the girl’s family eventually accepts them despite caste differences.

Thus, we have a situation where the girl was saved from a toxic guy by two patriarchal institutions: arranged marriage and the father. And it was the Feminist Principle of ‘Marry who you Love’ that led to the girl ending up with the toxic guy. Therefore, instead of harping on and on about ‘celebration of toxic masculinity’ which the movie isn’t, perhaps feminists ought to ponder upon the implications of their own doctrine.

Delhi’s AAP govt is yet to fulfil 2015 manifesto promise of concessional travel passes to senior citizens, disabled and students

While the Arvind Kejriwal led Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi has proposed to give free metro rides to women, it is yet to fulfil an election promise of providing concessional passes on buses and in the metro for senior citizens, students and persons with disabilities.

The Aam Aadmi Party headed by Arvind Kejriwal in its 2015 manifesto had promised several initiatives to senior citizens, students and persons with disability. It had promised to provide concessional passes on buses and in the metro in addition to developing the Ring Rail service in Delhi.

AAP 2015 Manifesto promising free rides to senior citizens, disabled and students/ Action plan no. 70 – Metro Rail 2.0

However, the Delhi government failed to deliver any of the promises it had put up in its manifesto before the assembly elections. Before the municipal elections in 2017, the Delhi government had again promised free rides in DTC and cluster buses for senior citizens and students up to 21 years of age. But it was soon forgotten after the elections.

Instead, the government led by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has come up with a freebie proposal to appease women voters by giving them free metro rides ahead of the 2020 Delhi assembly elections.

After a humiliating defeat in the Lok Sabha elections, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had announced that women be allowed to travel free of cost in all DTC (Delhi Transport Corporation) buses, Cluster buses and metro trains in Delhi. According to Kejriwal’s rationale, free metro and DTC bus rides would ensure that women can have safe travel experience, and access mores of transport which they were not able to do so due to high prices.

The Delhi government’s populist policy ahead of the 2020 Delhi assembly elections had received widespread criticism across from various sectors of the society. ‘Metro man’ E Sreedharan had slammed the policy and labelled it as an electoral gimmick. He had elaborated on the reasons why the move will prove to be catastrophic for not only Delhi Metro but Metros in other cities without enhancing women’ security in any manner.

On the matter of safety for women, the ‘Metroman’ had said, “By giving free travel, the safety of women commuters is not at all enhanced. What about their safety once they step out of the metro and encounter lurking dangers on the road for want of safe link bus services? This is the area your Govt. should spend money and not fund free travel.”

He has earlier written to the Prime Minister too objecting to the Delhi government’s decision.

Madhya Pradesh: Kidnapping accused Imran’s relatives attack police station, demand his release and threaten to kill policemen

In a shocking incident in Madhya Pradesh, the relatives of a man named Imran along with almost five hundred protestors reportedly barged into Cantt Guna police station last night in Madhya Pradesh and created a ruckus.

As per reports, the mob demanded the immediate release of Imran, whom the police had arrested for abducting the daughter of a police officer in an apparent case of ‘Love Jihad’.

Yusuf Imran, a resident of Guna district, Madhya Pradesh, had allegedly kidnapped a police officer’s daughter recently.

After receiving the complaint, Guna police carried out a manhunt to rescue the girl and also got hold of the accused. After the two were brought to the police station, the victim narrated her ordeal. She confirmed that Imran had kidnapped her and alleged that it was due to ‘love jihad’.

The news of Imran’s apprehension spread and the relatives of Imran accompanied by several others barged into the police station at midnight. They pressurised the police to release the accused. However, after they failed in their attempts to do so, the mob started creating a ruckus in the police station. One of Imran’s relatives reportedly gave death threats to Ashok Kushwaha, one of the officers on duty. They also alleged that the police mistreated the protestors.

Congress dissolves all district committees of the party in Uttar Pradesh

Following a disastrous Lok Sabha elections, especially in the state of Uttar Pradesh, where it could manage to win only 1 seat out of the total 80 Lok Sabha seats and lost deposits on 63 seats out of 67 seats contested, the Congress party has approved the proposal tendered by General Secretaries to immediately dissolve all District Committees of Uttar Pradesh.

AICC press release

As per a press release issued by AICC, a two-member team will be deputed to oversee the election preparations and management in all Vidhan Sabha constituencies in East and West Uttar Pradesh where by-elections are to take place.

It further suggests constituting of a three-member Disciplinary Committee to investigate complaints of gross indiscipline during the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections.

AICC has vested powers with Ajay Kumar Lallu, the leader of CLP, to make organisational changes in East Uttar Pradesh for a specified period during which changes will be carried out. The in-charge of West Uttar Pradesh is to be decided later by Jyotiraditya Scindia, the General Secretary in-charge of West Uttar Pradesh. It may be noted that Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is the General Secretary for UP East.

Earlier, Congress leaders were found squabbling after a review meeting held to determine the causes of the poll rout in Uttar Pradesh in the Lok Sabha 2019 elections. Congress leaders had then alleged that the Party leadership took the decisions unilaterally without consulting with the grassroots leaders.

CPM’s student body SFI puts up derogatory poster of Sabarimala’s Lord Ayyappa at Kerala college

The CPM has once again sought to insult the devotees of Lord Ayyapa. Today, at the Kerelaverma College in Thrissur, the Students’ Federation of India (SFI) put up a derogatory poster of Sabarimala’s Lord Ayyappa, reports Janmabhumi. The SFI is the student body of CPM, the ruling party in Kerala.

The poster painted on a flex board depicts the Lord Ayyappa being drenched in menstrual blood and hanging upside down between a women’s legs. As per the report, the poster reads “wherever menstruation is seen as impure, there they are denying their own birth”.

Hindu organisations, Ayyappa devotees and politicians have arrived at the spot, and they have requested the college authorities to remove the derogatory poster. The BJP has accused the CPM of insulting the Ayyappa devotees once again by putting up the poster.

Freedom of expression doesn’t come for free in Kerala and the ruling party is known for their bias against Hindus. The Communist government had recently reversed its decision to award a cartoonist for mocking rape accused Bishop Franco, as it hurt religious sentiments. In a shocking revelation, a total of 119 people have been booked for derogatory posts against the CM on social media, since the government assumed charge.

The CPM makes its bias even more visible with its decision to directly intervene and stop the removal of illegal crosses planted on encroached land, holy to the Hindus.

The state government had accepted the verdict of the Supreme Court to all women of all ages into the Sabarimala temple, contrary to the pleas of the devotees. Around 2000 protesters have been arrested for trying to save their traditions. Kerala has seen one of its largest congregations of Hindus against Communist govt’s desecration of Sabarimala.

Congress leader in the Parliament demands Wing Commander Abhinandan’s moustache be declared ‘national moustache’

As the Congress party continues to introspect and look for new scapegoats to pass the blame of the 2019 poll debacle, their newly appointed leader in the Parliament, Adhir Ranjan Choudhury has been given the task of steering the party in the Parliament.

In the current ongoing session of the 17th Lok Sabha, Choudhury today said that Wing Commander Abhinandan should be awarded and his moustache should be made the ‘national moustache’.

Following the Pulwama terror attack in February this year, Indian Air Force carried out an airstrike on the terror camp in Pakistan at Balakot. In retaliation action, Pakistan Air Force attacked our military installations. When a PAF F-16 entered Indian air space, Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman chased it on his MiG 21. However, he crossed into Pakistan territory and was captured by the Pakistani Army. Disturbing videos were released where Wing Commander Abhinandan appeared to be complimenting Pakistani Army under duress.

However, his moustache caught the nation’s fancy and men started sporting the moustache and it is very popularly called the ‘Abhinandan cut’.

Congress, which seems to have its priorities sorted, now wants to declare it as a ‘national moustache’.

AAP MLA Alka Lamba expresses sadness over not being invited to Delhi CM’s event in her own constituency

AAP MLA Alka Lamba, who in the past has shown signs of disenchantment with Aam Aadmi Party and its chief Arvind Kejriwal has today once again lamented on Twitter that she is being deliberately ignored by the party and the Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal. Lamba has conveyed her disappointment for not being invited for the laying of foundation-stone for one of the projects in her constituency of Chandni Chowk in Delhi.

Expressing her grief on Twitter, Lamba said in a tweet, ” It is understandable that I’m sidelined in the party but is it right to keep an MLA detached from the government activities? Today, in my assembly constituency, CM Arvind Kejriwal is going to come to lay the foundation stone for one of the projects, but far from printing my name in the card, he didn’t even felt the need to invite me for the function, this is a grave insult of my people.”

This is not the first time that Alka has expressed her disgruntlement with the AAP supremo. The rift between the top mandarins of the Aam Aadmi Party and MLA Alka Lamba has been widening for some time now. A few months back, Lamba had bemoaned that the Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal had unfollowed her on Twitter and that she was unceremoniously removed from the official Whatsapp group.

Before that, in December last year, MLA Alka Lamba was reportedly asked to resign from the Aam Aadmi Party over a resolution that was presented in the Delhi Assembly on December 21. Alka Lamba had said that she had protested against an alleged proposal to revoke Bharat Ratna awarded to former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi.
