Rajinikanth says that he is ready to contest assembly polls Tamil Nadu whenever they are held

Rajinikanth has said that he would be ready to contest the next Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, whenever that is held. He confirmed that his entry into active politics will happen along with the assembly elections in Tamil Nadu.

Along with the recent Lok Sabha elections, by-polls of 18 out of the 22 Assembly seats were also conducted. The by-polls of the remaining four seats would be conducted on May 19. AIADMK needs a majority of 117 seats to continue. Presently it has 113 MLAs in the 234 member House. A fresh assembly election may be required if AIADMK loses the majority after the by-polls.

“Ready to face, whenever they are held,” said Rajinikanth in response to the question of whether he would contest if the by-poll results led to an election.

In response to questions regarding the low voter turnout, he said that an overall seventy per cent was a reasonable turnout. However, the turnout in Chennai would have been lower due to the continuous holidays.

The actor had also said that there is definitely a reduction in caste-based violence and that the Election Commission has conducted it well this time. Though, he also said that an increase in the number of polling booths would be beneficial.

Rajinikanth has said that he hasn’t endorsed any party for the Lok Sabha elections. But he had appreciated BJP’s poll promise of setting up a separate body for the river interlinking project.

Reportedly, there was also a social media buzz with fans expressing their support for the superstar’s entry into politics.

In February, Rajinikanth had announced that he would be staying away from the Lok Sabha elections casting doubts on his political career. However, the recent interaction with the media has come as a relief to fans eagerly waiting for him to the plunge into politics.

Priyanka Gandhi will contest from Varanasi if Congress President asks her to

Amid speculations regarding her candidature in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, Priyanka Gandhi has given a cryptic response that she was willing to contest from Varanasi if her brother and Congress President Rahul Gandhi so wishes.

While interacting with the media minutes before departing from her two-day trip to Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency from where Rahul Gandhi is contesting as a ‘safe seat’, Priyanka hinted that she was willing to take on Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Varanasi Lok Sabha constituency. She said, “If Congress President asks me to contest, I will be happy to contest (from Varanasi).”

This is the second time in a span of three weeks that Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi hinted that she was willing to contest the ongoing elections.

Earlier, while interacting with party workers in her mother Sonia Gandhi’s constituency Priyanka was asked to contest from Rae Bareli. She had immediately shot back asking why not Varanasi, PM Modi’s constituency.

Brother and the Party President, Rahul Gandhi in an interview to Hindustan, a sister publication of Hindustan Times said, ‘Let’s see. Let there be some suspense for now!’

Previously, Rahul Gandhi had made it clear that the primary goal that he had set for sister Priyanka wasn’t the 2019 Lok Sabha elections but to get the party in fighting shape and win 2022 UP state elections.

In what could be seen as a shrewd move by the party to get its caste equations correct in the state and cut into the Upper Caste vote bank of the BJP the Congress appointed Priyanka Gandhi Vadra as the in-charge of Uttar Pradesh East at the beginning of the year.

However, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and her husband Robert Vadra have quite a colourful history which perhaps contributed to her delayed official entry into politics.

In 2016, Priyanka did a campaign for the party in Uttar Pradesh but she wasn’t received as well by the public as well as the party had hoped. In an amusing incidence in October, posters had come up at Sonia Gandhi’s constituency which accused Priyanka of being an emotional blackmailer. In February 2017, she was trolled by people on social media, a fate her brother has often suffered. She was also spotted with ‘neutral activist’ Gurmehar Kaur who has been perceived as someone who was milking her father’s sacrifice.

As Rahul Gandhi hasn’t really been a hit with the masses, the Congress party is certainly pinning their hopes on Priyanka. However, given her history and her husband’s, it’s unclear how far would she take her party in this political battle.

While people are quick to label her a terrorist, Sadhvi Pragya’s allegations of custodial torture are swept under the ‘liberal’ rug

0

Ever since the BJP fielded Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur as its Lok Sabha candidate from Bhopal constituency in Madhya Pradesh, several questions are being raised about fielding an “accused” in the Malegaon Blast Case making vicious insinuations about some hidden Hindutva agenda of the party. Overlooking the huge difference between the status of an accused and a convict, she is being deliberately referred by some as a “terrorist”. Interestingly, everyone, including the human rights activists, courts of law as well as media, seems to have turned a blind eye to one crucial aspect of this whole scenario and that is the allegations of brutal custodial torture levelled by Sadhvi Pragya.

Surprisingly, the self-proclaimed feminists and social justice warriors who tirelessly rant about the deteriorating level of tolerance and the so-called sorry state of the minorities India have turned a deaf ear to a woman who has made some serious allegations of custodial torture on the hands of male officers.

Sadhvi Pragya broke down narrating her ordeal as she addressed her party workers for the first time after her candidature was announced. “When they took me into custody illegally, they kept me there for 13 days. On the very first day, without asking any question, they started thrashing me with a belt”, she recalled. With a lump in her throat, she said that she was sharing her painful experience not to play the victim but to make sure that no other woman has to go to through what she had to go through.

She broke down as she relived the humiliating experience while bringing it before the world. “They used at hurl filthy abuses at me while beating me. They would even threaten me to hand me upside down and disrobe me”, she went on trying to stop her tears. She told that she was subjected to narco tests, polygraph tests and brain mapping tests three times. She has claimed she was brutally beaten up by male officers with a broad expeller belt, day and night for 24 days in custody. “My arms and legs were swollen, which were then immersed in salty warm water, and the beatings resumed. In custody, the officers used to hurl filthy abuses at me, and forced me to hear objectionable CDs. They wanted to forcibly extract confession from me in order to implicate senior RSS leaders,” she has alleged.

She has alleged that she was even deprived of sleep as a tactic to weaken her mentally so that she would give up and make the false confession. These details were shared by Sadhvi during her appearance on the show Aap Ki Adalat.

What is rather disheartening and at the same time alarming is that the allegations she is levelling are not even considered just because she is an accused in a case. Why are her allegations not worth looking into?

Suddenly the intellectual strata of the society blinded by its bias are behaving as if custodial torture is completely alien to this country. Custodial torture is an ugly reality of our times which continues to survive because of lack of sufficient measures to deal with it accompanied by selective outrage against it. The Supreme Court in the landmark case of D K Basu v State of West Bengal (1996) while delving into the issue of custodial torture and deaths taking place in police custody observed: In all custodial crimes that is of real concern is not only infliction of body pain but the mental agony which a person undergoes within the four walls of police station or lock-up. Whether it is physical assault or rape in police custody, the extent of trauma a person experiences is beyond the purview of the law.

In a justice delivery system that works with the speed of a snail, the accused, especially those belonging to ordinary backgrounds with no political backing, are cursed to suffer throughout the trial regardless of whether the trial concludes in conviction or acquittal.

‘Liberals’ bully Air Vistara into deleting their tweet honouring decorated war veteran onboard

Two days after Air Vistara tweeted that they were proud to have Major General G D Bakshi (Retd.) onboard their flight, Air Vistara’s Twitter account has now deleted that tweet after ‘liberals’ shamed the airlines and threatened they’d shift their loyalties to a rival airline.

Air Vistara’s tweet now deleted

OpIndia has reached out to Air Vistara for a response but has not heard back from them yet. We shall update the article as soon as we get a response.

Indian domestic airline, Air Vistara, on April 19 posted a picture on their social media account stating they were honoured to have Major General G D Bakshi (Retd.) onboard and thanked him for his service to the nation.

Major General G D Bakshi (Retd.) is a Kargil War hero and was awarded the Vishisht Seva Medal for commanding a battalion in the Kargil War. He is the younger brother of Captain Raman Bakshi, who was the first martyr in 1965 India-Pakistan War at the young age of 23 years. A year and a half after his elder brother was martyred, Major General Bakshi joined the National Defence Academy in June 1967. He joined Indian Military Academy on November 14, 1971 and was called into action during the 1971 India-Pakistan war. In 1999, he returned to Military Operations Directorate to plan for Operation Vijay during the Kargil War.

General Bakshi has been on the receiving end of hate from so-called liberals because of his nationalistic views. He had been very vocal about not sparing Pakistan, especially after the ghastly Pulwama terror attack. “Pakistan has started the war, we will end it,” he had said.

When the above tweet of Air Vistara went viral, many so-called liberals tried to shame Air Vistara for welcoming Major General G D Bakshi onboard. It seems now that bowing down to their pressure, Air Vistara has deleted the picture.

Update: Air Vistara has released a statement which says that since the recent post which had an image of Major General G D Bakshi (Retd.) and 2 air hostesses had received a lot of abuses directed toward all the parties concerned, they decided to delete the tweet.

They say their decision to delete the image was driven by the objective of deleting such comments.

Team Modi vs Team Mahamilavat: Watch how BJP has taken the election campaign to a new level

With the third phase of seven-phase election catching up, the BJP has upped its ante and come up with unique animated videos showing the lack of leadership within the opposition alliance.

The BJP twitter handle has posted a series of animated videos to target the incoherent ideas of the opportunistic grand alliance, which has come together with a negative agenda to remove the Narendra Modi government from power without presenting any viable alternative.

The BJP has used the theme of cricket with IPL and world cup along with others sports like football to simplify its messaging to explain to the voters how the BJP has a definitive leadership contrary to the anarchy and leadership void within the grand alliance.

In a series of videos, the BJP has taken a dig at the grand alliance by referring to them as ‘Mahamilavat’ or adulterated alliance. The animated video depicts how opportunistic regional leaders are fighting among each other to be the leader of the alliance. The tag line of the videos is “Yeh Mahamilavat ki Team Jayegi Haar, Phir Ek Baar Modi Sarkar (The adulterated alliance will lose, There will be Modi government once more)”.

In another similar video, the BJP has taken a dig at several regional leaders for staking their claim for the leadership of the grand alliance.

The BJP has also mocked the Mahagathbandhan alliance as a ‘visionless-opportunistic’ alliance and further ridiculed them for not having coordination among themselves.

Criticising the leaders of opposition parties for demanding proof against the surgical strikes and air strikes against Pakistan, the BJP in one of its video says that no Indian will ever seek evidence whenever the country wins.

Taking a dig at Congress President Rahul Gandhi, the BJP has also dedicated few videos highlighting his visionless and directionless leadership.

Through its videos, the BJP has attempted to inform people that with the leadership of PM Modi, the government has acted tough on terror with carrying out strikes on terror camps in Pakistan. It has also criticised the previous government led by Manmohan Singh for being soft on terror and Pakistan.

In the last five years, the BJP has been always quick to set the narrative, which has pushed the opposition parties to be more reactive rather than themselves setting the agenda. With its massive social media presence, the BJP has always managed to deliver its message to the voters in an efficient way. The short animation videos to depict the weakness of the grand alliance is a unique way to reach out to voters and the BJP hopes to maximise its reach ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

Convenor of Delhi Congress IT cell shares badly edited video accusing PM Modi of using an abusive word

Congress functionary and self-proclaimed ‘political consultant and strategist’ Gaurav Pandhi today was caught sharing an edited portion of Prime Minister Modi’s rally in Patan, Gujarat today where he accused the PM of using derogatory and crass language. Gaurav is convenor of IT cell of Delhi Congress, and also works at the digital communications department of the party.

In the above video, strategically played on a loop, one can hear the PM use a word which sounds similar to an abusive term. However, the portion is taken completely out of context.

In the above clip, PM Modi says in Gujarati, “Loko em keh chhe bhavishya ma ladaiyo paani thavain chhe. Ala bhai badha koh chho paani ni ladai thavain chhe to pachhi ame atyar thi paani pehla paal kem na bandhiye?” (People are saying that in future the world will fight over water. If people are going to fight over water in future, why don’t we build a dam before such a crisis arise?)

The portion “thavain chhe” which means “will happen (or take place)” if put on loop very fast would sound like an abusive word. Much like playing the word ‘Pandhi’ on loop really, really fast could make it sound like ‘Pidi’.

Spreading misinformation is not a new task Pandhi excels in. Earlier too in the aftermath of Kerala floods last year, he was busy spreading misinformation and attacking the central government.

Sri Lankan police chief had warned about the multiple suicide attacks 10 days prior to the attack

In the latest developments about the terror attacks in Sri Lanka, reports have emerged claiming that the Sri Lankan police chief had made a nationwide alert 10 days prior to the series of blasts which have rocked the capital city of Sri Lanka.

The police chief, Pujuth Jayasundara sent an intelligence warning to top police officers on April 11 2019, setting out the threat.

“A foreign intelligence agency has reported that the NTJ (National Thowheeth Jama’ath) is planning to carry out suicide attacks targeting prominent churches as well as the Indian high commission in Colombo,” said the alert.

The National Thowheeth Jama’ath is a radical Muslim group in Sri Lanka that gained popularity after it was linked to the vandalization of Buddhist statues.

Sunday morning was marred with dastardly explosions in Sri Lanka. The blasts occurred at around 8.45am (local time) as the Easter Sunday masses were in progress in churches, police spokesman Ruwan Gunasekera said.

A total of eight massive explosions have been reported so far taking the death toll to 242. 402 people have been reportedly injured in the blasts so far. The death toll of foreigners in Sri Lanka’s blast has risen to 46 in which at least 16 are Indians.

The string of simultaneous and coordinated blasts occurred at 3 churches, namely, St. Anthony’s Kochchikade Church in Kotahena, Zion Church in Batticaloa and St. Sebastian Church in Negombo. At the same time, three luxury hotels in Colombo were also targetted: Kingsbury, Shangri-La and Cinnamon Grand.

Two more blasts reportedly occurred in a hotel near Dehiwala Zoo in Colombo and in Sri Lankan suburb of Demantagoda. Meanwhile, a curfew has been imposed in Sri Lanka by the government, and access to major social media sites have been blocked.

Search operations are underway at a house in close proximity to the blast-site in Dematagoda following a tip-off that there are more explosives at the location.

The injured were admitted to the Colombo General Hospital and some were later transferred to Kalubowila Teaching hospital.

The Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe had in his tweet condemned the attacks and advised against spreading unverified news.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also tweeted his condemnation of the attack and support for the victims.

Meanwhile, the External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj had in her tweet confirmed that the government was keeping a close watch on the situation. She later tweeted helpline numbers for Indians who require assistance in Colombo.

An island-wide curfew announced by the Sri Lanka government will take effect from 6 pm on Sunday and will be in force till 6 am on Monday. A ban on Whatsapp and other social media has been imposed.

Although no organisation has yet taken responsibility for the attack, two suicide bombers have been identified so far. The attack at Shangri La hotel was carried out by suicide bomber Zahran Hashim, while Abu Mohammad has been identified as the attacker at the Batticaloa church. According to sources, Abu Mohammad was the official spokesperson and a senior leader of the ISIS. He was described as the chief of its external operations. He was the second most senior leader of the Islamic State after its leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdad.

Islamists celebrate Sri Lanka attack even as terror sympathisers blame Hindus for the serial blasts

Earlier today, our neighbouring country Sri Lanka was rocked by multiple blasts which have left over 150 people, including 35 foreigners, dead. Just a few minutes back another blast has been reported in Sri Lankan capital which has left at least two people dead. The blasts took place in churches across Columbo, Sri Lanka’s capital, on Easter Sunday, which clearly meant the blasts were carried out to attack the Christians, the minorities, on their festival to cause maximum casualties.

Sri Lanka’s police chief had issued a countrywide alert ten days prior that NJT (National Thowheeth Jama’ath), a radical Muslim group may carry out suicide attacks. The Indian government has condemned the attack and extended solidarity in the hour of grief to Sri Lanka. While everyone came together to express shock and grief with the neighbour, some were busy putting out conspiracy theories that ‘Hindus’ are behind the terror attack in Sri Lanka.

Even before any terror outfit comes out to claim responsibiity of the terror attack, Congress-supporting bigot Ashok Swain had gone ahead and said that these attacks must have been carried out by a ‘Hindu-Tamil terror outfit’, LTTE which is fighting against the ‘Buddhist-Sinhalese majoritarianism’.

A filmmaker, Mohammed Asif Khan took to Twitter to say how ‘majoritarian’ terrorists choose a day of the festival to attack minorities to cause more harm.

And even as the so-called liberals were quick to blame the ‘Hindu’ majoritarian for attacking the minorities, a certain section of the said so-called minorities were busy celebrating the attack on the Christians and the churches.

Facebook comment saying how the terror attack in Sri Lanka on churches is ‘payback of Christchurch’

Many were found on Facebook either celebrating the attack or blaming the Indian state and Hindus for the serial blasts in Sri Lanka.

Facebook comment saying Indian intelligence agency behind the Sri Lanka attack
‘Hindus’ being blamed for Sri Lanka blasts
Islamists accusing India of carrying out terror attack in Sri Lanka
‘Sri Lanka paying price for being a friend of Pakistan’ – Islamists accusing India of having carried out terror attack

This is not the first time Islamists have ‘celebrated’ a dastardly terror attack. Following the Pulwama attack on the CRPF convoy by Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist who wanted to kill ‘cow urine drinkers’, many Indians were found celebrating the Pulwama terror attack. A Kashmiri student from Aligarh Muslim University had an FIR registered against him for an objectionable social media post on the Pulwama Terror Attack. He has been suspended by the University as well. NDTV too had suspended its Deputy News Editor for two weeks for a post that seemed to glorify the terrorist attack. The organisation had also hinted at possible further action.

That’s not all, pro-AAP video-blogger associated with propagandist YouTuber Dhruv Rathee was even caught spreading a doctored audio tape on the Pulwama attack which claimed that the terror attack was an inside job.

Karnataka: Income Tax department recovers Rs 2.3 crore in cash from the spare tyre of a vehicle

The Income Tax department, which has been in the process of seizing large amounts of cash being transported allegedly by political entities during the Lok Sabha elections, seized Rs 4.3 crore cash in raids across Karnataka and Goa.

It recovered a large sum of Rs 2.3 crore stuffed in the spare tyre of a vehicle travelling from Bangaluru to Shivamogga and Bhadravati.

A video of the most innovative way of transporting illegal money this election season has surfaced where IT officials are seen pulling out wads of cash from the Stepney of a vehicle.

“On the receipt of credible input about the cash being transported from Bangalore to Shivamogga and Bhadravati, a cash handler was intercepted. Upon searching, Rs 2.3 crore of cash was recovered from the spare tyre of his vehicle in the denomination of Rs 2000 notes, IT official said.

“Cash of Rs. 2.30 crore has been found and follow-up searches are underway in Bhadravati, where the further seizure of Rs. 60 lakh is expected,” said the IT department official.

Throwing light on the shocking details about the extent of illicit money being circulated during the Lok Sabha elections, officials with the IT department also recovered Rs 1 crore in cash from the residence of a banker in Bagalkot, Karnataka.

“The intelligence suggested that the person is accumulating cash for distribution for election purposes. A seizure of Rs. 1 crore has been made so far in this case,” the department said. “Both these were cases where the seized cash was meant for distribution during elections.”

“What is interesting is that the persons in charge of cash transport and distribution had removed several notes from each bundle. An average of four notes was removed from each bundle of 100 notes of Rs 2,000 denomination, showing leakages even in this illegal cash distribution,” the tax department said.

“We carried out a search on two brothers who run a jewellery business in Goa. Two residential premises are covered in the search and two business premises. A search is being carried out on the basis of Information received that they mainly carry out business deals in cash and the cash so generated is potentially used for providing accommodation entries against cheque issued by the parties who need cash. Cash in excess of Rs 30 lakh is being seized from this premise,” the tax department said.

Cash in excess of Rs 10 lakh was also seized at Vijayapura in another search, it said.

The data released by the Election Commission of India had revealed that the IT sleuths had seized cash and contraband amounting to over Rs 2,600 crores until April 17 of this year. This comes as a shocker, considering only two phases of 2019 Lok Sabha elections have concluded so far and the amount seized until now is already almost double of that seized during the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

Earlier, the election for the Vellore Lok Sabha was cancelled following the recovery of large scale cash recovery meant to bribe voters. More than Rs 11.50 crore was found with a DMK leader, and the cash was kept in cartons and gunny bags neatly packed with ward and division numbers written on them, indicating they were meant for distribution purposes.

Babri Masjid demolition: Pride or shame lies in the eyes of the beholder. Here is why people can be proud of it

Editor’s Note: A new ‘controversy’ has erupted with BJP’s Lok Sabha candidate for Bhopal seat, Sadhvi Pragya Thakur declaring that she is proud to have taken part in demolition of the Babri Masjid. While controversial, this is not a new sentiment. Earlier Shiv Sena founder Balasaheb Thackeray too had expressed pride in Shiv Sainiks having taken part in demolition of the disputed structure at Ayodhya, even though many even in the BJP maintain that the demolition was unfortunate, with veteran leader LK Advani having termed 6th December 1992 as the saddest day of his life.

The declaration of pride or ‘shaurya’ related to demolition of Babri Masjid has been seen as a politically incorrect statement and people have been attacked and shamed for it. Even on the so-called ‘right wing’ platforms, this sentiment has not been given mainstream place. Around 3 years ago, an article written by someone who termed himself or herself “real liberal” was submitted to OpIndia, where the person explained why he or she celebrates demolition of Babri Masjid. It was not published on the main OpIndia website then and remained on our user generated chapter MyVoice. The fact that it was submitted anonymously shows how the person was afraid to express himself or herself.

However, given how many in the so-called liberal circles have been mainstreaming Hinduphobia, with even the oldest political party of India joining this onslaught, the current editorial team of OpIndia believes that it is time to drop ‘political correctness’ and counter this trend of shaming and attacking anyone with pro-Hindu beliefs. We are re-publishing that article on main OpIndia today, because such sentiments must not be censored or suppressed. They have to be heard, understood, and analysed.

Reproduced below is the article in question:

Why I will celebrate destruction of the Babri structure on 6th December

by ‘Real Liberal‘ in Opinions on 6 December, 2016

It is 6th December today. The day the disputed structure in Ayodhya was brought down by various Hindu activists in 1992. It is celebrated as Shaurya Divas by some and Black Day by others.

I did not tweet or share any Facebook update about the day, but was angered when saw some left-liberal guys going all hyper – as they do each year on this day – asking everyone to be ashamed and asking how can someone celebrate this day.

That’s when I decided to rather celebrate the day if these presumptuous pretentious hypocrites are going to keep asking everyone to be ashamed while not being ashamed of their own double standards.

Let us be clear – what someone is celebrating has to be defined by the person who is celebrating, not by the person who is passing judgments to prove himself superior on some random moral ground.

I give you an example – Taj Mahal was built by Shah Jahan (from Babur’s family incidentally) who had many wives; in fact, Shah Jahan married another woman after marrying Mumtaz Mahal, in whose loving memory and honour the Taj Mahal is believed to have been erected. Poor construction workers’ hands are believed to be cut so that they don’t create a replica of Taj elswhere. As a result, one can argue there is no love, but only lust and violence in this story.

And from the leftist worldview, construction of Taj Mahal was a show-off of wealth from an emperor to put down the poor in their place. Sahir Ludhiyanvi, an Urdu poet with known leftist leanings wrote – ek shenshaah ne daulat ka sahara le kar, hum gareebo ki mohabaat ka udaaya hai mazaak – an emperor has derided the way we poor people love by showing off his wealth. Basically Sahir is arguing that Taj Mahal is not the true symbol of love.

But does that mean that everyone celebrating Taj Mahal as a symbol of love is endorsing polygamy, patriarchy, violence and vulgar display of wealth and power? If a man gifts a replica of Taj Mahal to his wife or girlfriend, should he feel ashamed that he just endorsed those regressive and controversial views?

Of course not, it doesn’t matter how you – the critic – view the Taj Mahal. It matters how the person – who is celebrating the symbol of Taj Mahal – sees that structure.

Sahir Ludhiyanvi or even Subramanian Swamy may view Taj Mahal as a symbol of lust, violence and vulgarity, but the lover sees that as a symbol of love – and that’s all that matters.

And I see the Babri structure as a symbol of centuries of oppression that the Muslim invaders put Hindus of India under. And that’s all that matters, not your secular bullshit.

Babri structure was a symbol of brute power – of how the native culture was suppressed, how the widely revered Lord Ram was shown his place by the invaders, and how a new sociopolitical order was imposed on the society through beheading of gurus and demolition of temples.

Leftist historians imagine that most Muslims in today’s India are converts because the caste system didn’t give them justice. It is a modern fiction. None – not a single Islamic source – makes this argument. You read Baburnama to Akbarnama – and nowhere has any Islamic author made this claim. On the other hand, books and accounts of Muslim historians and chroniclers of those times document how villages after villages were plundered and blood flew in streets when the Hindus refused to accept Islam.

Babri structure was symbol of that tyranny and barbarism. It was a dark symbol. For me, it was not symbol of any syncretic Sufi culture, it was not a Durgah – even if we accept that modern fiction as reality – that our left-liberals love to imagine and romanticise.

By the way now that we are talking of caste – the favourite topic of left-liberals who keep stoking casteist fires to keep Hindus divided – I have another example other than Taj Mahal for them. I want to ask them why do they celebrate burning of Manusmriti?

Because they see Manusmriti as a symbol of oppression. A dark symbol of centuries of oppression of dalits. It doesn’t matter to them how others see it – many have argued and documented that even fake shlokas have been attributed to Manusmriti to make it look bad – but does it stop the leftists from celebrating burning of Manusmriti?

Quran has more horrible verses than Manusmriti is accused of, but the leftists allow the arguments of “context” and “interpretation” to justify those verses. They oppose burning of Quran but celebrate burning of Manusmriti.

Burning a book is an act of arson. It destroys property. It doesn’t take away a life, but it is an act of violence. Just like bringing down a dilapidated structure.

If burning of Manusmriti can be celebrated because YOU see it as symbol of oppression, demolition of Babri structure can be celebrated because WE see it as symbol of oppression.

Just like the beliefs of those who may consider Manusmriti as holy or Taj Mahal as gory doesn’t matter to you when you burn the book or love the monument, your beliefs don’t matter when I celebrate demolition of that structure at Ayodhya.

There is no shame in celebrating the bringing down of a structure that was symbol what we are seeing in Iraq and Syria right now. Babur was just like the ISIS, perhaps even more brutal and inhuman. Will the Yazidis (if they survive these barbarians) not demolish structures created by ISIS if they get the power to decide for themselves?

Even when talking of the modern times, Babri structure was also a symbol of how Muslims of India (as a political group) were unwilling to cede even a single inch of land to Hindus for peaceful co-existence. It was a symbol of how “secularism” in India meant that Muslims demand and Hindus compromise, even at the cost of their religious beliefs and self-respect. It was a symbol of one way street, of slavery, of an uneven relationship.

I celebrate destruction of that symbol.

I celebrate annihilation of brutality.

I celebrate restoration of equality.

I celebrate 6th December.

I celebrate self-respect.

I celebrate freedom.
