Arrests, suspensions and more: India rises up against those celebrating the Pulwama terror attack

We have been reporting on the disturbing trend of people celebrating the death of our soldiers in the Pulwama Terror Attack. We have reported arrests that were made, students who were suspended from their educational institutions and employees who were fired from their jobs.

In another horrific trend that has emerged, people are now being arrested for physically attacking those who expressed their solidarity with the martyrs and condemned the attack. As reported by TOI, 3 Kashmiri students studying in Bengaluru, Waquar Ahmat, Gowhar Mustaq, both students of nursing and their friend Zakir Maqbol are accused of attacking a college-mate, Koushik Debnath, who had opposed the Kashmiris for celebrating the terror attack.

Debnath had posted an image on social media mourning the death of the martyrs. In response, the Kashmiris started posting abusive comments. An officer was quoted as saying, “The accused began posting messages against Debnath’s post. They supported the terror attack and abused India, the Army and CRPF Jawans. The accused students met Debnath at his college canteen on February 15. When Debnath questioned about their FB comments, they abused and assaulted him.”

“We have registered a case of sedition, assault and intentional insult with intent to breach the peace, under IPC sections and punishment for unlawful activities under section 13 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967,” a Suryanagar Police officer was quoted as saying.

The cyber crime police on Sunday arrested Faiz Rasheed, 20, an engineering dropout from HBR Layout in Bengaluru, for praising the Pulwama suicide bomber and criticising the Indian Army in a Facebook post.

Earlier, an Army veteran’s home was vandalised in Haringhata Nadia, Kolkata after the veteran’s family lit candles to express solidarity with the martyred CRPF soldiers in the terrorist attack in Pulwama.

In Agra, too, an incident was reported by AmarUjala where people from ‘Samuday Vishesh’ had assaulted a person after he had opposed their support for the terror attack. The goons had also threatened, “40 were killed in Kashmir, we will kill 80 in Tundla.”

Meanwhile, people are continuing to get arrested and suspended from their jobs and educational institutions. One Eshfaq Khawaja from Noida has been reportedly arrested for an objectionable Facebook post and he has been suspended from his university as well.

One Mohammed Tousif has been arrested from Katihar, Bihar.

In Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, an FIR was registered against Bilal Tyagi for abusing the Indian Army in response to the Pulwama Terror Attack.

We had reported that people on social media had come together to report to the police those who have made extremely offensive posts on the Pulwama Terror Attack. The Police in different states has been active as well in taking action against them.

Pakistan Senator Rahman Malik says Pulwama attack was skilful job of RAW and Indian Army to defame Pakistan

As global pressure mounts on Pakistan for supporting terror groups, the terrorist state of Pakistan continues to live in a denial mode as Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan and his other men continue to brazen it out and blame India for the Pulwama terrorist attack.

According to the reports, former interior minister and Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Interior Senator Abdul Rehman Malik has held India responsible for Pulwama attack claiming that RAW had engineered such attacks to not only to divert world attention from the so-called human rights violation in Kashmir but also to sabotage Kulbushan Yadav case.

“The attack on the Indian army convoy in occupied Kashmir is a conspiracy to help Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi win the upcoming elections and deflect attention from the trial of the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) spy by kicking up anti-Pakistan hysteria,” the former interior minister said while addressing a press conference in Islamabad.

He went on to say that how a vehicle with 350kg explosive can come to the highway and attack a well-protected convoy unless planned by their own army. “The movement of the convoy is always confidential how come someone knew in advance to attack that particular convey,” he questioned.

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi added that the reaction by India reflected the domestic political considerations because of the upcoming election, and Pakistan was not going to be internationally isolated. “Knee-jerk reaction from India is saddening. Blame-game achieved nothing in the past, and will not achieve anything now. If India has any evidence, it should share that with Pakistan, and we will investigate.”

Pakistan will investigate if India provides in any evidence for the Pulwama attack, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said on Saturday.

The shameless behaviour of Pakistan to refuse to accept its role in the Pulwama terror attack which killed 44 CRPF personnel comes amidst Islamic terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed admission that it had planned and executed the heinous suicide terror attack in Awantipora of Pulwama district.  A high-intensity IED blast targeted a convoy of 70 vehicles of the CRPF carrying 2500 personnel which was on its way from Jammu to Srinagar.

On Monday, the security forces neutralised two Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists in an encounter that has been going on since last night in Pulwama. Reportedly, the terrorists killed are Abdul Rasheed and Kamran, who were the masterminds in the terror attack.

Pakistan recalls its High Commissioner to India for ‘consultations’ amidst tensions following the Pulwama terror attack

Mohammad Faisal, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, has stated that the Pakistani High Commissioner to India has been called back for consultations. He left for Pakistan earlier his morning.

This is the latest move in the diplomatic breakdown between the two countries in the aftermath of the Pulwama Terror Attack. Earlier, Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan Ajay Bisaria had been called to Delhi for consultations on diplomatic action against the country.

India had also withdrawn the ‘Most Favoured Nation’ tag to Pakistan and then proceeded to impose a 200% customs duty on all goods imported from there.

Prime Minister Modi has made it clear that Pakistan will be made to pay a heavy price for the transgressions. He has minced no words in stating that India is considering all options to avenge the murder of our soldiers. Under such circumstances, Pakistan recalling their High Commissioner could be signs of things to come.

Meanwhile, the signs have been ominous for Pakistan. Iran, too, had accused them of supporting the terrorists that organized a suicide bombing against Iranian forces that led to the death of 27 of their soldiers. They had also threatened Pakistan of retaliation if they did not take any action against the terror group.

On 16th February, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj made a surprise visit to Iran on her way to Europe and had a meeting with the Deputy Foreign Minister of Iran Seyed Abbas Araghchi.

“Iran & India suffered from two heinous terrorist attacks in the past few days resulted in big casualties. Today in my meeting with Sushma Swaraj the Indian FM, when she had a stopover in Tehran, we agreed on close cooperation to combat terrorism in the region. Enough is enough!” Seyed Abbas Araghchi had tweeted, after meeting with MEA Sushma Swaraj.

Meet the people whose main concern is if Modi may ‘benefit’ due to terror strike, not tears of martyrs’ families

More than 2,500 Central Reserve Police Force personnel, many of them returning from leave to rejoin duty in the Kashmir Valley, were travelling in the convoy of 70 vehicles when they were ambushed on the Srinagar-Jammu highway at Latoomode in Awantipora in south Kashmir around 3.15 pm on Thursday. A suicide bomber rammed a car laden with over 300 kgs of explosives, into the convoy, with the death toll rising up to 44 by Friday in the Pulwama attack.

A video that was later released by Jaish-e-Mohammad, Pakistan backed terror group that took responsibility for the heinous act of terror, showed the suicide bomber talking about how he wanted to kill ‘cow piss drinkers’. He spoke about how Azaan would boom from Babri Masjid again. He spoke of Allah’s will.

For some people, however, the issue at hand is not terrorism. The issue at hand is not about the lives lost and the loss of our Country’s brave. The issue is not about Pakistan sponsoring terrorism to bleed India, but that of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s electoral victory.

Ajai Shukla, an ex NDTV journalist and currently, a columnist with Business Standard took to Twitter to float an asinine theory.

He asserted that the Pakistan Army and the ISI were behind the Pulwama attack and that any cross-border retaliation by Modi could win him an election that was otherwise doubtful. Then, he theorised that this could mean Pakistan was helping Modi get re-elected.

Ajai Shukla is not the only one sabre rattling. ‘Designer’ Farah Khan Ali appealed to Taliban Khan to condemn the Pulwama attack so that Modi doesn’t start a war and end up “winning”.

In fact, The Quint too published an article by C Christine Fair that took the same line of argument. In the article, Quint asserted that Pakistan wants to ensure another Modi victory by the Pulwama attack. It had other platitudes like “nothing suits Pakistan’s communal agenda like a Modi victory”. The article was mostly devoid of logic and bigoted.

These assertions are outlandish at best and sinister at worst. India is almost in the state of an undeclared war with Pakistan after the Pulwama attack. For such questions to be raised, the intention could only be undermining the interest of the nation. In their hatred for the Prime Minister, people like Ajai Shukla and Fair seem to have lost all moral semblence.

If one is to assume that their theory is correct, one needs to ask if Pakistan was also helping Congress win by carrying out the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack in which, despite not retaliating to Pakistan, Congress came back to power in 2009. The logic would, of course, not hold merit.

While the Country held its breath and read gut-wrenching stories of the Jawans martyred in the Pulwama attack, the ‘liberals’ were more concerned about politics than the tears of the martyr’s families.

Martyr Pradeep Singh Yadav from Kannauj was among those 40 brave soldiers who laid their lives in the service of the nation. Martyr Yadav was travelling with the CRPF convoy which was attacked by the Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorist. He was talking to his wife over the phone when the explosion happened, quite unaware that this was going to be his last conversation.

“I was talking to him on the phone, suddenly I heard the sound of a blast and the call got disconnected”, recalled Neeraj Yadav, wife of martyr Pradeep Yadav killed in the Pulwama terrorist attack. Stunned by the sound of blast Neeraj tried to call her husband again to check if her husband was fine, but the call did not connect. She told that Yadav was missing the time he spent with his younger daughter Sona.

With such stories of excruciating pain emanating from the dastardly attack, one wonders how vested interests can even think about electoral politics and Modi’s win over the martyrs and retribution for what Pakistan has done.

Perhaps these “liberals” feel so disconnected with the Indian Army that they rather make their hatred for Prime Minister Modi the focal point than focus on the Army, our jawans and paying Pakistan back in the same coin. Perhaps, for them, India is only worth fighting for if the man they detest is not at the helm of the government.

After the Pulwama attack, the country saw several spontaneous marches and vigils where people demanded justice and vengeance against Pakistan for the Pulwama attack. While the Nation mourned the loss of its brave, the “liberals” were busy furthering the false narrative of Kashmiris being attacked throughout the country. This narrative was without a shred of evidence and was called out extensively. There were several others who even celebrating the attack. One among the many was an NDTV deputy editor who was later suspended for 2 weeks by NDTV.

Even as 2 Congress workers get murdered by Communists in Kerala, the parties get busy stitching an alliance in Odisha

While two Congress workers were hacked to death allegedly by the communist goons at Periya in Kasaragod, Kerala, owing to political rivalry and retaliation, the Congress in its attempt to take on BJP and the BJD in the upcoming 2019 elections has stitched up an alliance with the Communist Party and others in Odisha.

Odisha will hold assembly polls along with the general elections this year.

Two youth Congress workers Kripesh and Sarath Lal were attacked on February 17, while they were on a motorcycle. A group of unidentified people came in an SUV and stopped the duo on the road and hacked them to death, the police said. The two Congress workers were returning home after attending an event nearby, the news agency ANI reported.

While the Congress alleged that CPM activists were behind the attack, the Congress President, Rahul Gandhi, Tweeted his condolences for the families of the victims.

Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala has alleged the ruling CPI(M) was responsible for the double murders. He furthered that the murder was a conspiracy hatched by the CPI(M) as the Lok Sabha elections are near.

“The CPM is trying to destroy the Congress party using goons. The youth congress activists were attacked without any provocation. They were not involved in any kind of criminal activities. No cases were there against them. The government should identify the culprits and arrest them as soon as possible,” Chennithala told reporters.

While on one hand, Congress has blamed the Communist party for this double murder, on the other hand, a grand alliance has been stitched up between Congress, Communist Party of India, Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha in Odisha in an attempt to take on the BJP and the ruling BJD in the upcoming 2019 elections for the state assembly and the Lok Sabha.

The parties are reportedly in talks with each other and are likely to finalise seat sharing issue soon.

“In Odisha, we are in the middle of discussions for forming an alliance with Congress, CPM, and JMM. Also for the coming elections, it is more likely that Congress, CPI, CPM, and JMM fight will fight collectively in Odisha,” said CPI leader, D Raja.

“Although talks are in the process, nothing has finalised yet on seat sharing,” said the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President, Niranjan Patnaik.

It is notable here that Congress has been facing an existential crisis in Odisha. With the BJD in power for four consecutive terms in the state, many senior leaders have left Congress or jumped ship to the ruling party over the years. Recently too, senior party leader Naba Das had announced joining BJD.

Last year, Congress lad welcomed Mili Panda, the wife of dreaded Maoist leader Sabyasachi Panda, into its ranks in Odisha. Panda was welcomed to Congress in a grand ceremony.

Two Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists have been neutralised by security forces in an encounter that has been going on since last night in Pulwama. Unconfirmed reports suggest the terrorists killed are Abdul Rasheed and Kamran, who were the masterminds in the terror attack which took place last week claiming lives of 44 CRPF soldiers. Reports of stone-pelting in the neighbouring village are also pouring in as per Republic TV.

In the encounter, 4 Army personnel, including an Army major have been martyred in the encounter. 2 civilians, who were used by the terrorists as human shields were also killed.

An encounter started between the security forces and terrorists in Pinglan area of Pulwama district in South Kashmir where 2-3 terrorists were reportedly trapped. The Army personnel belonged to the 55 Rashtriya Rifles. After a few hours of the encounter, the firing had briefly stopped for some time. However, after a brief halt, the firing had resumed. The encounter is underway about 15 kms from the place where the suicide bomber killed 44 CRPF jawans last week.

Pulwama attack: India suspends cross-LOC border bus services between Poonch and PoK’s Rawalakot

In the wake of the dastardly terrorist attack in Pulwama, where 44 CRPF personnel were martyred, India has suspended the cross-LOC bus service between Poonch in Jammu and Rawalakot in Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir.

Earlier today, an encounter broke between the security forces and Pakistan’s Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists in Pulwama, about 15 kms away from where the terror attack took place last week. 4 soldiers, including an Army Major, were martyred in the attack.

The bus service was last suspended in July 2018 for 17 weeks due to heavy firing and shelling from Pakistan’s side. The bus service between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad had started in April 2005 and between Poonch, Jammu and Rawalakot, Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir on 20th June 2006. The bus services were started to facilitate easier trade and travel between families which were divided between Jammu and Kashmir and the Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir.

Kamal Haasan demands ‘referendum’ in Kashmir, terms Pakistan Occupied Kashmir as ‘Azad Kashmir’

In a shocking incident, days after ghastly Pakistan sponsored Pulwama attack, actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan has echoed the sentiments of the terrorist state of Pakistan when he sought a ‘referendum’ in Jammu and Kashmir, reported Times Now.

Accusing both India and Pakistan of tampering with the lives of Kashmiris, Makkal Needhi Maiam Chief (MNM) Kamal Haasan attempted to push Pakistan narrative of holding a referendum on the issue of Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing a gathering at Chennai, Kamal Haasan lashed out Indian government stating that over the years they have acted foolishly in dealing with Pakistan. If we want to prove that we are more responsible, then we must avoid such irresponsible politics over the issue, said Haasan.

“Why are our soldiers losing their lives in Kashmir? I feel very regret when people say that soldiers are going to Kashmir to lay down their lives. The army itself is an old fashioned thing. Similar to how we decided that we will not kill each other, likewise a time will come when we will stop fighting. Has not the civil society learnt that in the past 10 years?  Stop fighting with Pakistan. The soldiers who are protecting us should not die,” said Kamal Haasan.

“Why isn’t the Indian government holding a referendum in Kashmir? Who is it they are afraid of? If leaders of both countries behave properly, then there will be no reason for the death of our soldiers, the line of control will be under control” said Kamal Haasan.

Referring Jammu and Kashmir as ‘Azad Kashmir’, the actor-turned-neta said, “The government should talk to the people of Kashmir and ascertain their views by holding a plebiscite. Do they want to divide all the nations? Why do not you ask them again? Will not they do that? Now, this (Kashmir) belongs to India, the same situation remains across the border. In Azad Kashmir, people are using pictures of jihadis in trains to depict them as heroes, it is not a good thing,” said Kamal Haasan.

Kamal Haasan jumped into national politics by launching a political party ‘Makkal Needhi Maiam’ in February 2018. Kamal Haasan has also hinted of contesting the upcoming general elections. When questioned about his decision to contest the Lok Sabha elections, Kamal Haasan said one should fight elections after entering politics.

Martyr Pradeep Yadav’s wife recalls the last conversation: There was a blasting sound and the phone got disconnected

The ghastly Pulwama terrorist attack didn’t just take away 40 bravehearts defending the nation, it also took away hopes and smiles from the families of the fallen soldiers. Martyr Pradeep Singh Yadav from Kannauj was among those 40 brave soldiers who laid their lives in the service of the nation. Martyr Yadav was traveling with the CRPF convoy which was attacked by the Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorist. He was talking to his wife over the phone when the explosion happened, quite unaware that this was going to be his last conversation.

Stunned by the sound of blast Neeraj tried to call her husband again to check if her husband was fine, but the call did not connect. She told that Yadav was missing the time he spent with his younger daughter Sona.

Yadav was in 115 Battalion in Srinagar and had returned to his duty on February 10 after spending his vacation with his family. He is survived by his two daughters Supriya Yadav (10) and Sona Yadav (2). As Yadav’s mortal remains reached his native village Ajan Sukhsenpur, people gathered in large numbers to pay tribute to him. His family was inconsolable. Yadav’s elder daughter Supriya fainted after lighting the funeral pyre of her father.

Slogans of ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ and Anti-Pakistan slogans filled the air as the rites of martyr Yadav were performed. Thousands of people from the region had joined the funeral processions to pay respect to the martyr.
