As Rahul Gandhi meets Lalu, RJD workers ransack AIIMS Emergency ward

0

Congress President Rahul Gandhi met with the RJD supremo who was convicted in several cases related to the Fodder Scam. While Rahul Gandhi has suddenly hijacked the issue of corruption, it was intriguing that he chose to meet and greet a convicted felon.

As Congress President Rahul Gandhi met with Lalu Prasad Yadav, RJD workers vandalized AIIMS and ransacked the Emergency Ward protesting against the hospital’s decision to discharge him.

Lalu’s supporters created a ruckus alleging that there was a conspiracy to “murder” their leader by “forcing him out” of the premier hospital. According to PTI, hospital sources have alleged that during the ruckus, supporters broke a glass door and abused security guards and administration officials.

Lalu himself got into an argument with the Police at the New Delhi Railway Station after being discharged from AIIMS. He had also suggested that the authorities were working under political pressure and the decision was motivated by political concerns.

Since then, AIIMS has filed an official complaint with the police that miscreants misbehaved with their staff while protesting over their decision to discharge Lalu Prasad Yadav.

AIIMS spokesperson B.N.Acharya has said in a statement, “Lalu Prasadwas referred from Ranchi medical college to AIIMS for management of his acute medical condition. He has improved significantly and as per the advice of the medical board constituted for his treatment, he is being referred back to Ranchi medical college for management of his chronic issues. He is currently stable and is fit to travel.”

However, as we had reported earlier, Lalu Prasad Yadav was displeased at the decision. His party MP Jai Prakash Narayan Yadav was under the impression that AIIMS was acting under pressure from central agencies like the CBI. “It seems there is a conspiracy to murder him. Why they are discharging him when he is not fit yet,” said Yadav.

Lalu Prasad Yadav and his family have been paranoid ever since that conspiracies were being hatched by the BJP and Nitish Kumar to murder Lalu Prasad Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav.

From Jammu to Bengal, read how Rohingyas are being settled in India

0

Recently, Bimal Gurung, the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha leader, alleged that Rohingya immigrants are being settled in Darjeeling and Kalimpong districts of West Bengal as a conspiracy to cause demographic imbalance and render Gorkhas and other native communities homeless. Gurung has alleged that suspected Rohingyas are being deliberately pushed into the hills for vote banks, despite Centre identifying them as a security threat. In a press release, he has claimed that the Rohingyas are diluting the existing Gorkha, Adivasi, Rajbongshi and Indian Bengali population in the hills.

Earlier, actress Koena Mitra had also accused West Bengal government of settling illegal Rohingya immigrants. She had accused Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of giving Rohingyans land and settling them in the state despite Myanmar and Sri Lanka throwing them out because of their terrorist activities.

The TMC government has gained some notoriety in recent times due to its perceived Muslim appeasement. According to a recent to the Ministry of Home Affairs, 40,000 Rohingyans staying across India have been instructed to settle in Bengal.

The Central government has maintained that the Rohingyans are illegal immigrants and a national security threat and must be deported. Not too long ago, an Al-Qaeda operative was arrested while trying to recruit Rohingyas in India amidst reports that terrorist organizations are radicalizing the ethnic community. Recently, eight families, consisting of 29 adults and 11 children were settled in the newly erected Rohingya colony in West Bengal. This was followed by the settlement of 73 more Rohingyas, taking the total tally of inmates to 102.

Not just West Bengal, but Rohingyas have been settled in various states like Jammu, Haryana as well as Delhi. As reported in November 2017 in Times of India, as many as 304 Rohingyas have been settled in Uttar Pradesh in districts Aligarh, Mathura, Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar and Meerut. Yogi Adityanath referred to the Rohingyas as ‘intruders’ and not refugees. These Rohingyas are different from the thousands staying in camps set up by the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) where UNHCR has issued cards to registered refugees to ensure that they are not arbitrarily arrested or prosecuted.

Rohingyas have also been settled in Haryana, in Nuh town, about 100 km from the national capital. As per government records, as of November 2017, over 1,360 Rohingya Muslims or rather 400 families are living in Mewat, which is a cultural region spanning across Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. In fact, if reports are to be believed, boosted by the UPA government’s indifference to check their illegal immigration, they made the country their home without checking with the owners and as per a ground report by Swarajya have made Jammu the epicentre of their settlement. The erstwhile UPA government had in 2012 turned a blind eye to the illegal immigration, due to domestic political pressure and international concern over human rights. As a result of this inflow, their numbers have been pegged at about 40,000 which was excluding the 14,000 odd Rohingyas who are registered with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

Myanmar government has shared stories about the horror inflicted by Rohingya terrorists on the Hindus in Myanmar. There have been reports of mass graves of Hindus found killed by Rohingya terrorists. In September, last year, an Al Qaeda man, who was allegedly setting up base in Delhi, Mizoram and Manipur, was arrested from Delhi while trying to recruit Rohingyas.

Despite the apparent threat, the ‘prominent’ personalities of India have written to the Prime Minister to not deport the illegal Rohingya immigrants in India. Currently, Supreme Court is hearing a petition to prevent the deportation of Rohingyas filed by Prashant Bhushan where the petitioners are two Rohingya immigrants.

25 year old Mohammad Mustak arrested after 6 year old rape victim succumbs to injuries in Odisha after 8 day long coma

0

A 25 year old man named Mohammad Mustak has been arrested and a case under POSCO Act and IPC section 376 (rape) and 307 (attempt to murder) has been registered against him a day after the six year old rape victim from Jagannathpur in Odisha succumbed to her injuries. The child was in a coma after allegedly brutally raped and assaulted by her neighbour, who is believed to have lured her by offering her a chocolate. According to reports, Dr Shyama Kanungo, professor and medical superintendent in the SCB Medical College and Hospital, where the girl was being treated, has stated that she suffered a cardiac arrest and was declared dead after attempts to revive her failed.

The 6-year-old was found in a very critical condition inside a school campus on 21st April and was rushed to Salepur Hospital and later to the SCB Medical college. The girl had reportedly suffered deep injuries on her head, neck, chest and private parts. She had been in a coma since the assault and on was on a ventilator. On Thursday, the emergency officer at the medical college had reportedly declared that the girl was deeply comatose and her chances of survival were dim. A team of 13 doctors from various departments were engaged to provide her treatment but her condition reportedly never improved.

The girl had reportedly gone to purchase biscuits from a nearby shop in her village and never returned home. Her family members and villagers started a frantic search for her and she was later found lying in a pool of blood inside the school campus, she had reportedly no clothes on and blood was oozing from her head and mouth.

However, Salepur station inspector DK Mallik has reportedly stated that since the victim has died a case of Murder will be lodged now on the suspect.

The little girl was reportedly brutally raped then strangulated by the accused. As per reports, the accused, in an attempt to kill her, had also banged her head several times. The family members of the girl have stated that the accused was well known to them and he even joined the villagers in search of the girl after committing the crime

This day in 2006, a blood soaked night in J-K saw 35 Hindus massacred in cold blood

Kashmir is India’s poetry. It has as much beauty as it has pain, pain that has seen bloodbath, hatred and gross injustice. No other state in modern India has perhaps seen as much blood and pain as Jammu and Kashmir. The politics of Kashmir, the debates and theories about the valley are unexhaustive. But what is really unnerving is the countless stories of brutality, violence and terror that often go forgotten amidst the debates and politics.

The name Kashmir is believed to be derived from the name of Rishi Kashyap. The land has been the ancient seat of wisdom, the land of saints and ascetics. But modern-day Kashmir is only a walking ghost of its glorious past. The violence made the Pandits leave their ancestral homes and seek safety wherever else they could find it. The poor villagers and shepherds that were left have long been cursed to remain at the mercy of Islamic terrorists. The politicians of Srinagar and Delhi indulge in meetings, elections come and go but the plights of the poor have never changed.

The Kashmiri Pandit mass exodus happened in the 1990s. It has not been a single incident, as many choose to believe. The floodgates opened in 1990, yes, but the trickle of Kashmiri Hindus leaving the lush valley has been flowing before and has continued long after, even to this date.

Hindus in the valley were the greatest threat to radical Islamists wanting to spread their reign of terror in the name of religion. An apathetic government machinery, both in the state and centre had achieved little over the years and it is mostly the poor Hindu villagers who have borne the brunt of hatred and violence perpetrated by Islamist terrorists in the valley.

It had happened in Nandimarg in 2003, on the night of March 23, armed terrorists and even some local youth have gathered Hindu families living in the sleepy hamlet in Pulwama district and fired indiscriminately, killing 24 Hindus, even toddlers. The same horror was repeated three years later in Doda and in Udhampur, on a brutal summer night 12 years ago.

On the night of April 30th, 2006, six terrorists went to the remote, shepherd villages of Tharwa and Kulhan in the Doda District of Jammu and Kashmir. In Tharwa, Three terrorists knocked on the doors of the village head. Using the pretext of having an injured friend, they gained entry into the house and asked for the neighbouring men to gather. The villagers were apparently not alien to such calls, for they are often forced to run errands and provide free labour at the behest of the terrorists. The terrorists even coolly noted down their names in a notebook, then began firing. The lady of the house, Gillu Devi, saw her own son, daughter, daughter in law and little granddaughter fall prey to raining bullets. She had fought relentlessly trying to wrestle the gun away from a terrorist before falling unconscious. The result of the massacre was the death of several poor, penniless Hindus. The assailants had then proceeded to repeat the act in another nearby village, killing 10 others in the same manner. The terrorists kept firing until their ammunition was exhausted.

On the same night, another group of terrorists near Basantgarh in Udhampur District had asked two local shepherds, Mohammad Siraj Ud-din and his son Rukun-Ud-din to guide them to a nearby meadow named Lalon Galla, where a group of Hindu shepherds have camped for the summer. They called the 13 Hindu shepherds they could find and lead them to the forests. This time too, the men followed, believing they were being taken for some carrying or building activity the terrorists needed to be done. At some distance, they were all shot dead.

35 Hindus were killed that night. Sadly that day was not the first, nor the last. The villages in the foothills of Pir Panjal range, like Srinagar, have seen repeated terrorist attacks and killings. In 1998, a wedding party was attacked in Chapnari village where 25 Hindus were massacred in a similar way. Just months before the Doda incident, in October 2005, a group of Hizb-ul- Mujahiddin terrorists had ordered the women in a village in Budhal, Rajouri to cook for them while they gathered the men of the families and slit their throats. These are just some of the examples of the cold-blooded killings of Hindus in the state. In 2000, 32 Amarnath yatris were killed in an attack at the Pahalgam base camp. The incidents have been many, the targets of the attack were mostly Hindus, including women and children.

The 2006 Doda massacre came soon after former J&K CM Ghulam Nabi Azad was elected from this constituency and days before the then PM Manmohan Singh was scheduled to meet Hurriyat leaders in Srinagar for a roundtable conference. The terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba was blamed for the attacks, investigators also suspected the support of the local Hizb-ul-mujahideen commander Mohammad Asaruddin in carrying out the killings. Abu Talha, the dreaded Lashkar commander who was believed to be behind the massacre escaped an encounter a week later. BJP leader and former Home Minister Lal Krishna Advani spoke once again about the ethnic cleansing happening in the state since the 1980s. Condemnations and debates flowed from all quarters, but as usual, peace was, and to a great extent still is, a distant dream in Kashmir.

The Doda-Udhampur massacre was mentioned by several nations while declaring the LeT a terror organisation. A branding that was reinforced after the Mumbai attacks of 2008. International condemnations, sanctions on Pakistani based terror groups and anti-terror operations in Kashmir have been going on for decades. Kashmir is used to headlines and media coverage. But sadly, the systemic and targeted killing of Hindus in the state has never been talked about much. The Pandits have become refugees in their own country, the scattered Hindus of the poor villages have been leaving in small groups since too, to save their lives. The demographic change has been forced into the valley as part of a well-orchestrated plan. Group by group, family by family, Hindus of the valley have been killed and the survivors eventually forced to leave. Governments have come and gone, but none have taken any significant steps towards resettling of Hindus who were forcibly displaced. Worse, few have had the guts to even openly admit that such a thing has ever happened.

Terror claims victims irrespective of their religions, the Muslims of the valley have been the victims of terror too, but the killings of the Hindus have been for their names, their religions, the Hindus have been killed as part of a larger, sinister plan, to scare the other Hindus into leaving their homes, lands and livestock behind and flee the valley. Shamefully for our ‘secular’ nation, the plan has been a grand success in Kashmir. The night of April 30th in Doda was a dark one, but unfortunately, the Kashmir valley is still far from light.

TMC wins 20,000 Panchayat seats uncontested, amidst accusation of opposition being prevented from filing nominations

0

The Mamata Banerjee led Trinamool Congress has won about 20,000 seats uncontested in the upcoming West Bengal panchayat elections, as reported by The Statesman. This translates to about 34% of total seats where the TMC turned out to be the sole contesting party. Such a number is a meteoric rise from the now second highest uncontested victory on 11% of the seats, notched by the left front government back in 2003.

As per a TOI report, the TMC is the only party to have fielded candidates in all the rural seats like that of gram panchayat, panchayat samiti and zilla parishad. Based on the state election commission data, 16,814 out of 48,650 gram panchayats were won uncontested by TMC and this figure was 3,059 and 203 for panchayat samiti and zilla parishad seats. This turns out to be a total of 20,072 uncontested seats.

This number of uncontested seats is a spectacular rise from the figure of 6274 seats in 2013 and 2845 seats in 2008.

This number of 20,072 seats could have been much higher had the Calcutta High Court not provided a four hour window to file nominations last Monday, which saw the submission of 5,697 nominations.

The news of so many uncontested seats come in the light of TMC being accused of using violence to stop BJP and Congress candidates from filing their nomination papers. As reported, the BJP had moved the Supreme Court, urging it to interfere in the matter of its party candidates not being allowed to file its nomination papers for the said polls.

The ruling party has also been accused of murdering a BJP worker and carrying out armed rallies before commencement of nomination filing for the Panchayat polls.

Such intimidation tactics had resulted in Panchayat candidates belonging to a “Save Land, Livelihood, Home and Environment Committee” filing their nominations via WhatsApp, after being allegedly prevented by the TMC from physically filing them.

As per the petitioner Sharmishta Chowdhury, they were attacked by over 100 TMC goons while going to the office of additional district magistrate, to file their nominations. The goons also allegedly confined them in a room for an hour and tore their nomination papers.

The Calcutta High Court later approved the WhatsApp filed nominations, and also directed the State Election Commission to do the same.

AIIMS to discharge Lalu Prasad Yadav: RJD supremo sees political motivation behind the decision

0

Lalu Prasad Yadav, convicted in the Fodder Scam, has expressed his displeasure at AIIMS’s decision to discharge him and shift him back to Ranchi Hospital.

In his letter to the head of AIIMS, Lalu Prasad stated that Ranchi Hospital is not equipped to treat his ailments efficiently and should any adverse consequences arise due to his shifting to Ranchi Hospital, then the authorities at AIIMS will be responsible for the harm caused to his life. He also insinuated that the decision was driven by political motivations and that doctors are hailed as Gods on Earth, therefore, they should not work under political compulsions.

RJD leader and son of Lalu Prasad Yadav, Tejashwi Yadav, also voiced his concerns regarding AIIMS’ decision to shift him to Ranchi Hospital. He said that the decision was taken in haste.

Earlier, Congress President Rahul Gandhi visited the tainted RJD supremo at AIIMS. It is still unclear how Rahul Gandhi reconciles his supposed strong stance against corruption while maintaining ties with a politician who has been convicted of scam in several cases.

Lalu Prasad Yadav’s family has become increasingly paranoid ever since his conviction in the fodder scam case. Tejashwi Yadav had earlier claimed that Bihar Chief Minister was trying to poison his food. Thus, Lalu’s insinuation that political forces are behind the AIIMS decision to discharge him is consistent with conduct and that of his family in recent times.

Beaten, heckled and disrupted by JNU leftists, filmmaker Sudipto Sen speaks up

We had reported earlier on how leftist organizations at JNU had disrupted the screening of the movie ‘In the name of Love’ by filmmaker Sudipta Sen on the illegal conversions of women in Kerala. Students were assaulted and a car allegedly ran over a security guard by ex-JNUSU President Mohit Pandey who is now said to be critical.

Promotional poster for the movie

Sudipta Sen took to Facebook to voice his discontent over the matter. He stated that JNUSU had ‘lynched’ and ‘raped’ art, artists, artistic expression and freedom of speech. He also wrote that they shamed the country’s premier institute.

In a conversation with OpIndia, Sudipto Sen asserted that he was not associated with the BJP or the RSS. He emphasized that his movie was not directed at any particular religious community and the intention was not to spark any communal tension but towards exposing the international conspiracy, plotted by ISIS and Taliban, that is underway in Kerala, involving radical Islamist outfits. He said, “The film is not anti-Muslim or anti any community for that matter. It is basically about the pattern we identified in Kerala, the bigger ISIS plan to convert Kerala into an Islamic state which was predicted by V.S.Achutanandan.”

The screening was organized by Vivekananda Vichar Manch. Sudipto Sen claimed that the organization “somehow had some link with the RSS”. The screening was then opposed by the “so-called communists of JNU” which then took a violent turn. The filmmaker also stated that the events that transpired in JNU reminded him of Karni Sena and the manner in which they opposed the screening of Padmaavat.

During the conversation, Sudipto Sen said that many students were assaulted during the attack. When asked if he was personally assaulted as well, he said that he was. He claimed that he was manhandled and he was pushed and slapped. Attempts were made to crush his laptop and snatch his hard-disk. He tried to downplay the assault on himself while ruing the fact that innocent people were attacked and hurt in the process. Some security guards were beaten, assaulted and their clothes were torn by communists including the ex-JNUSU President who allegedly ran a car over a security guard.

Sudipto Sen stated that it was his intention to begin the movie’s journey in JNU as it is touted to be a university that is an intellectual and cultural hub in India. He remarked that JNU has been the hub of intellectual and political thought in the country and advocating progressive ideas but the kind of intolerance that was displayed towards him is disheartening. He also remarked that the abuses that were thrown at him and the attempts that were made to shut down the screening was anti-democratic. He said, “…the kind of intolerance they have shown, the kind of abuses they have shown, the kind of attitude they have shown against an artwork… What I did is my art, if you are choking the truth, if you are stopping art being displayed, then it is basically an anti-democratic situation prevailing in JNU.”

Sudipto Sen also told us that the communist movement has become increasingly irrelevant today. He asserted that communism is fading away and is “dying its own death”. He also said that their leaders don’t “inspire” anymore and that they have “nothing to offer” to the country and were continuing with their “myopic vision”. Sen continued, “JNUSU being a left-oriented student union, they are reflecting the kind of threat the communist movement in the world is facing today, it is a reflection of their intolerance. There is a traditional Indian saying, the lamp burns the brightest toward its end.” He also remarked that those disrupting the screening were under the impression that the movie will tarnish the reputation of the current communist government in Kerala, the only state in the country where the Left Front has its government because the PFI has “the patronage of the local communist government.”

Speaking of the movie, Sudipto Sen stated that nobody could comprehend the magnitude of the menace. He rued the fact that the ones disrupting the screening did not actually watch the movie as the screening was disrupted. He reiterated that the movie was about illegal conversions and the manner in which girls were trafficked abroad. Sudipto Sen further remarked that the movie was an expression of his patriotic duty to expose the manner in which girls were being converted and trafficked and the agony of the mothers of all those girls deserved to be heard. “If my daughter comes home after two hours of the scheduled time, then agony is experienced by the father and mother of the child. If 33,000 girls have been taken away, then what will a mother go through? This is a normal common patriotic expression which we displayed in the film,” said Sen.

Sen said there was a pattern to the conversions that were taking place and there is a plan in place by radical Islamist organizations to convert Kerala into an Islamic theocratic state, something which was claimed by then Kerala Chief Minister V.S.Achuthanandan in 2010. Achuthanandan, who was from CPI(M) himself, had claimed that PFI was supplying money and weapons to the youth to achieve its objective. Sen also stated that he is in possession of documents that would prove every claim he has made in the movie. He stated, “We are not illogical, we didn’t use a single emotional word. Every word in the film is backed by a supporting document. We have the documents, infuriating documents we have. So we have just spoken about the documents we have collected. It is so so scary.”

The filmmaker also told us that he has a press conference scheduled at the Delhi Press Club today and they will chart their future course of action after that. He also mentioned that he has proposals from Kolkata and northeastern states to screen the movie and is hopeful that his movie will be watched and duly appreciated.

I am a Muslim and I am not a ‘victim’

0

“It would be very difficult for people like us to get acclaimed in mainstream media because more than the religious right, the regressive left hates us. We puncture their inflated balloon of self-victimization and identity politics. They would hate for us to be on the mainstream scene, the left wants Muslim names to be crying about fascism rather than be pragmatic, confident, productive individuals.” – Omer Ghazi

India right now is like a mother with two kids. One of the kids is weaker, smaller and sick. Of course, the weaker kid deserves a little more care and nurturing and hence a little more attention is showered on the weaker kid. As for the stronger, bigger kid., the mother would perhaps say, “Well he can manage.”

Understandable, but one should not harbour this mentality to such an extent, that the bigger kid gets completely neglected. Owing to that neglect, he would grow up resentful, frustrated and angry. He would start harbouring feelings of toxic jealousy and hate towards the smaller kid. This monster of hate might actually grow to the extent that the bigger kid would end up physically harming and maybe even killing the smaller kid. Is this inconceivable?

You understand how this “too much of a good thing” approach is actually endangering the smaller kid? That’s exactly what is happening in India between the majority and minority. Politicians need to stop appeasement and identity politics because it’s not going to end well for anyone. How about equal treatment? The British are gone, but “divide-and-rule” is very much alive and active.

The actions of liberal media lately are really disturbing. One has to realize – it is possible for the majority to be oppressed. There is an anti-Hindu bias in the media – and this is not good if you want to maintain peace and ‘secularism’. Why are nationalism and Hinduism being dragged into everything? Stories of crime are ALWAYS given a communal angle, can we please not do that?

People ask me – “Why are you sucking up to these ‘Sanghis’?”

My reply – “And what is your brilliant plan to keep minorities safe? Doing everything possible to piss off the majority and radicalizing even peaceful Hindus? You think that’s going to keep me safe? Why don’t you save some time and just shoot me right now?”

I am not sucking up to anyone, I don’t have “Stockholm syndrome.” I’m just trying to be respectful towards all religions and maintain the fragile peace that we have. Isn’t that what secularism is about?

Some of you might say that I’m speaking from a position of privilege. No, I am not denying the fact that there is a lot of wrong happening in this country, I’m not some chest-thumping hyper-patriot yelling “India is the best!” I am just trying to point out that some anti-social elements exploit the news of terrible crimes and tragedies to manipulate the emotions of a gullible public to push their own agenda. Don’t fall into their trap, don’t play into their hands, they want to keep us divided, they want to keep us fighting. A good example is the recent Kathua case.

“I am ashamed to be Indian! I am ashamed to be Hindu!” – read the placards. Why? I fail to understand… I mean, you can feel angry, you can feel outraged, you can feel frustrated, but why feel ashamed to be Indian? Does Indian culture condone rape? Does Indian constitution condone rape? And why feel ashamed to be Hindu? Does the Bhagavad Gita instruct you to go rape!?

“Hindu rapes Muslim girl.”

No. What happened is – “A sick pervert brutally violated a defenceless little girl!”

There has been a very obvious and deliberate attempt by media here to give this a communal twist and it’s scary just how much of a stranglehold the media has over the minds of people. The power of fear.

The semen-filled balloon story, now busted, was another example of fake news meant to cause a communal divide.

I like India, I like living here. Because you see, my family and I have actually lived in a Muslim country and we know what it’s like. This was in the 80s and early 90s, when India was still socialist, not as developed, and hence Indians had to move to foreign countries to earn well.

We have lived in Saudi Arabia for more than a decade. My mom, like any other woman in the country always had to be in a black burqa. My dad was arrested 3 times on trumped up charges, and the police released him after a hefty bribe. There were always stern-faced mutawwas– Saudi religious police – patrolling the streets. It was like a prison! We were treated like second-class citizens. All the time, my family said, “We can’t wait to get back to India!” We made our money and got out as soon as we can.

We experienced true equality and dignity and freedom only after we came back to our own country. Staying in Saudi Arabia made us realize the value of the little freedoms others have so taken for granted here. Muslim women here need not wear the burqa, nobody cares. There is no fear of mutawwas. India gives us the freedom to practice our religion, but more importantly… India also gives us the freedom to NOT practice our religion if we so choose. India is far from perfect, but it is a million times better than most other countries out there. And those who scream day and night on Twitter about how “India is an evil, fascist, Brahmanical, oppressive dictatorship,” to them I’d like to say – “If this really was a Fascist country, you would be rotting in a Gulag by now.”

I love living in India. Despite what you read in the media, I do not feel oppressed and do not live in perennial fear. If there is anything I fear, it is the liberal media who seem hell-bent on dividing us and starting a civil war. Otherwise, I live proud and free, knowing that the Indian constitution grants me the same rights as it does to a person of any other religion. If we really felt India was an evil fascist oppressive state, trust me, we would not have returned. Our life is here, this is our country – we will obey the law of the land and play by the rules, even though it may not be 100 percent compatible with our religious beliefs. But that’s a sacrifice one has to make.

I think of living in a society as standing at a traffic signal. Yes, you are being made to wait, time is being stolen from your life, you are being violated, but what you have to understand is – the people on the other side are also making that sacrifice, they are also waiting, and that is the only way things can move. If no one is willing to compromise, it will be utter chaos! To live in society, you have to give up a part of your self, no one can be 100% happy, that’s just the price you have to pay. The other option is – go live in a cave all by yourself.

Journalists and activist admonish Tripura CM after believing a parody account

0

Tripura’s newly anointed Chief Minister Biplan Deb has recently donned the media spotlight after making certain ill-structured statements like asking youths to raise cows or open paan shops instead of chasing government jobs and taking on former Miss World Diana Hayden to claim that she didn’t deserve to win the title.

Such goof ups meant that the CM became a butt of quite a few jokes on social media, one of which was today cracked by a parody account of news agency ANI:

The parody twitter named @ANI_Official, which looks strikingly similar to the real twitter accounts namely @ANI and @ani_digital, managed to stump a few people including a prominent journalist, who jumped the gun to castigate CM Biplab Deb for the said statement.

Controversial journalist Nikhil Wagle who in the past has been caught spreading Fake News admonished the CM and called for him to get psychiatric treatment, after quoting the parody tweet:

He soon realised his mistake and deleted the tweet but this didn’t stop him from taking a parting jab on the Tripura CM.

Even another journalist committed the same folly:

Those falling for it also includes activist Nirjhari Sinha who as per her own admission is a Director in Pravda Media Foundation, which is a parent company of alleged fact checking website Alt News.

Based on this blooper, it remains to be seen whether Alt News, which is run by her son Pratik Sinha fact checks her now deleted tweet, as the media website has indeed in the past ‘busted’ about parody tweets going viral on social media.

This episode though has failed to impress ANI Editor Smita Prakash who has accused the parody account of peddling fake news and illegally using the logos of her news agency.

Incidentally, this isn’t the only time a tweet by a parody media account fooled journalists. We had reported how a parody account’s tweet posting an imagined response to the controversy surrounding lyrics of a viral Malayalam song, stumped various journalists.

MP govt announces plan to register Gurukuls and treat them at par with regular schools

0

The Shivraj Singh Chouhan led Madhya Pradesh government is planning to register Gurukuls and treat them equivalent to mainstream schools. This was announced by the state’s Chief Minister on Saturday while inaugurating the three day International Virat Gurukul Sammelan in Ujjain, as reported by ANI.

Gurukuls are an ancient Indic way of learning, where students used to go to residential schools, where they are imparted education by a guru.

As per Chouhan, the state government would register Gurukuls, and every district would promote the Gurukul system of learning. He also claimed that the government would be helping trusts set up such educational institutions, which would then be held equal to the modern education system.

Even Union HRD minister Prakash Javadekar at the conference stated that the government was planning on reviving the ancient Vedic system of education. To facilitate the same, he indicated the formation of a new education policy, whose draft would be ready in three months.

This three day International Virat Gurukul Sammelan is being held at the Maharishi Sandipani Rashtriya Vedvidhya Pratishthan in Ujjain. Javadekar was the Chief Guest of the program, which was being presided over by CM Chouhan. RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat was to be the keynote speaker at the occasion.

In all this program was to be attended by Vice-Chancellors from about 70 universities, besides research scholars and social activists too marking their presence.

Besides brainstorming over ways to incorporate the Gurukul system into the modern education system, the meet featured a cultural program by various Gurukuls whose students narrated various Vedic and Sanskrit verses.

This announcement by the Shivraj Chouhan government comes about two weeks after it was reported that it was planning on creating a relevant framework on promoting the Gurukul system.
