In a unique protest, BJP leaders in Gujarat distributed chai outside Congress headquarter in Surat

0

In Gujarat, BJP carried out a peaceful, but unique, protest against the classist and anti-poor jibe by Congress by offering tea at Congress headquarters in Surat.

BJP Gujarat MLA Harsh Sanghvi and BJP Delhi spokesperson Tajinder Bagga today reached Congress office and other parts of the city offering tea, celebrating the humble beginnings of the Prime Minister who once sold tea at Vadnagar Railway Station. The BJP leaders chanting ‘Bharat Mata ki jai’ slogans walked towards Congress office and offered them tea.

Speaking to OpIndia, Sanghvi said, ‘We put up slogans, “Chai bechta hu, desh nahin” to show that Modi sold tea, not nation. He further added that this protest ticked off Congress workers who were not happy with BJP workers serving them tea. Congress tried to create minor ruckus, but things didn’t go too far since BJP leaders ensured them that they are there only for peacefully offering them tea and nothing else.

The protests were in response to the tweet posted by @YuvaDesh, the official Twitter handle of the Indian Youth Congress’ online magazine yesterday.

As seen above PM Modi is seen complaining against the “May Mays” which the Opposition was making against him. Trump was thus seen enlightening Modi about the correct pronunciation of “meme”, Theresa then very condescendingly asked Modi to go and sell tea.

This meme by the Youth Congress magazine reeked of an elitist mindset where a humble and respected profession of a tea seller is considered menial and “classless”. It also showed the youth magazine’s contempt for individuals with a modest upbringing who as per its viewpoint were beneath those enjoying an unearned privileged lifestyle.

Also this isn’t the only time such elitism has been displayed by those associated with the Congress party. In 2014 ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar too had made a comment that:

I promise you in 21st Century Narendra Modi will never become the Prime Minister of the country. …But if he wants to distribute tea here, we will find a place for him

This was believed to have ticked off many voters who felt that it exposed the anti-poor side of the Congress party and exposed the dichotomy of their “gareebi hatao” rhetoric. Perhaps the party leaders have now learnt the lesson and ahead of the crucial Gujarat polls, chose to rapidly distance the party from the antics of its youth magazine, but clearly, the damage has already been done.

Shia Wakf board chairman alleges Pakistan’s involvement in the Ram Mandir – Babri Masjid dispute

0

On Wednesday, Syed Wasim Rizvi the current chairman of the Shia Central Waqf Board decided to drop a bombshell of sorts by alleging a Pakistani involvement in the never ending Ram Mandir – Babri Masjid dispute in Ayodhya.

As per Rizvi, Pakistan has been directly involved in this whole dispute which is one of the reasons why the issue hasn’t been resolved. As per Rizvi, when the Babri Masjid was demolished, Pakistan saw far bigger demonstrations which included attacks on temples.

As per a 1992 New York Times report, Muslims had attacked more than 30 Hindu Temples in Pakistan in response to the Babri Masjid demolition, which included setting 6 temples ablaze in Lahore. The protesters had even chanted slogans like Crush India and Death to Hinduism. The Pakistani government even closed schools and offices for a day in order to protest this demolition.

Rizvi claims, this and the 2005 terror attack on the makeshift Ram Temple in Ayodhya by 6 heavily armed terrorists, proved Pakistani involvement in the matter. In this particular attack, terrorists disguised as devotees caused injuries to 4 CRPF personnel and 2 civilians.

Recently the Shia Wakf board has been successful in inserting itself into the Ram Mandir debate.

The board had called for the construction of a Ram temple on the Ram Janmabhoomi and had proposed the setting up of a mosque in a Muslim dominated area, at a reasonable distance from Lord Ram’s birth place.

It has since then modified its request by proposing an out of court settlement where a Ram Mandir is built in Ayodhya and the Masjid in-turn is built in Lucknow, for which the state government can allot 1 acre of land in the city’s Husainabad area, away from the religious territory of the Hindus (sic).

The Shia Wakf board has also staked claim over the disputed land in Ayodhya which is currently under Sunni control. The board has also claimed that the Babri Masjid was built on the disputed piece of land by destroying a temple which stood there — a fact that is denied by Sunni board and some leftist historians.

Assistant Editor of India Today Group caught lying about release date of GDP Q2 figures

0

We have known for a while that for the “liberal” Indian media, no lie is too big when it comes to smearing Narendra Modi. Some 15 years and still counting. The very latest in this long list is an opinion piece that came out on Aaj Tak today, claiming to give out 3 different evidences of Modi sarkar being on the backfoot from “street to parliament”.

Untitled.png

Here’s the first of the 3 pieces of “evidence” : Why has Modi sarkar suppressed the latest GDP figures?

Untitled.png

What suppression they might be speaking of is baffling. The Q2 GDP figures for FY 2017-18 will be released as per schedule on Nov 30. All it would take for a basic fact check, is googling the official website. It’s only Nov 22.

I was puzzled, so I had to read the rest.

Untitled.png

For friends who might not be able to read Hindi, that underlined sentence translates to : “It should be noted that the GDP numbers for Q2 should have been released by Nov 1.”

The accusation is that the Modi government is suppressing GDP numbers to avoid possible embarrassment just before Gujarat polls.

This is an outright lie and a brazen one at that. The quarterly GDP numbers are released, just as you might expect, every 3 months. For any given Financial year, here is the well established schedule of release of GDP numbers.

Q1 (Apr — June) : Release date : Aug 31

Q2 (July — Sept) : Release date : Nov 30

Q3 (Oct — Dec) : Release date : Feb 28 (or 29)

Q4 (Jan — Mar) : Release date : May 31.

Exactly on schedule, the Q1 number was released on Aug 31 this year at 5:30 pm. And, exactly on schedule, the Q2 number would be released on Nov 30. This is precisely what happened in 2016 and always before that as far back as internet searches could take me. You can see that the date for release of Q2 GDP numbers was Nov 30 even in 2011.

This is an extremely well established schedule and I cannot think of any excuse for the author of the Aaj Tak opinion piece, Mr. Rahul Misra, not to know that.

Untitled.png

Yes, this man, who penned that shoddy piece riddled with misrepresentations, lies, and innuendos is an Assistant Editor of India Today.

Minutes after his post on Aaj Tak went online, I tweeted out the facts with screenshots and asked for an apology. The apology of course hasn’t been tendered, as expected. But it is also staggering how these evidently senior journalists can lie so brazenly. Perhaps they assume that their readers have sub par intellect and they can get away with anything. Or perhaps they know they can’t get away with it, they know they will be caught, but they want to ensure they can sway the opinion the other way, even if, of a minuscule audience. Either way, our media seems to discover news depths everyday, this seems to be just another one.

A sordid saga of Mose Ministry – Of indoctrination, isolation, and emotional torture of our daughters

0

We come across incidents of physical, mental and sexual abuses to children and women in homes and orphanages every now and then. What we usually do is read, outrage, lament the apathy shown towards protecting the pillars of our civilization but finally, move on. It is undeniable that there is some awareness nowadays in this particular issue. The most gut wrenching part is perhaps, that we have only seen the tip of the iceberg. One such case that created much outrage recently was the sordid saga of 89 girls who were separated from their mothers at birth and brought up by a pastor, Gideon Jacob, in an orphanage known as Mose Ministries.

This so-called orphanage first came to light when the Social Welfare department of Trichy district in Tamil Nadu tried to seal the place for measly crimes such as

(i) not registering the orphanage

(ii) not obtaining a licence to run it

(iii) not providing enough safety and security for the inmates which would have resulted in six months of imprisonment at maximum or fine or both.

Despite the institution having been found in 1994 in Usilampatti, Theni, it wasn’t registered even after shifting it to Trichy apart from getting a temporary registration in 2008 under the provisions of Orphanages and Other Charitable Homes (Supervision & Control) Act, 1960. The issue went to court in 2015 and that is when skeletons started tumbling out of Mr. Jacob’s closet. An NGO called ‘Change India’ filed a PIL asking the court to order a CBI inquiry for they had unearthed a number illegalities in Mose Ministries, trafficking being one of them. Well, that is the only allegation the main stream media headlines have been screaming about.

Court appointed an Additional District Judge to interview the children and inspect the premises. The report submitted by the ADJ brought out the details of mind-numbing level of brainwashing and a heartbreaking tale of snatching infants away from their mothers in the name of saving them from infanticide. The report confirmed the findings of Change India that the girls were being brought up in an unhygienic, isolated environment without counselors or mentors. They were completely cut off from the outside world, with their lives confined to the ministry. The truth of how ignorant they were kept was revealed, when on being asked, what she would do if she needed a pencil, a child answered that she would pray to Jesus and he would send it through someone. They were always being escorted by someone, even the school going children were picked up and dropped by the home’s driver. The tragedy is these children were of course unaware of the injustice being done to them. They were made to believe that they were being treated like princesses. However this particular detail must be seen in the light of a child’s reply that she would pray to Jesus, if she was stranded to send someone to take her home and wait for that person. The girls were intentionally kept ignorant while being brainwashed into believing that since they are being given good food and costly clothes, they have no further needs.

The children were sent to boarding schools and Mr.Jacob’s farm in Villupuram as punishment when they made mistakes. Those who were not sent to the hostels consider themselves fortunate because those who went there claimed that the food there was not good, they weren’t allowed to bath for more than three days in a week and beaten if they did. The administrator claimed that they would visit these boarding schools beforehand however the girls said that they were sent away instantaneously. There was no record of the mistakes the children made but it was recorded that they were sent to Villupuram as punishment. Mr. Jacob claimed that they were taught tailoring and made to read Bible in order to import discipline. But he couldn’t even recall the name of the teachers who taught tailoring. The children cleaned both the orphanage and the pastor’s house. They cooked for the both as well. They were also made to work in his bakery without any stipend (claims that it was training). So likely they might have been sent to clean his farm as punishment.

The ADJ’s report also revealed that two children were stopped from going to school because they interacted with other children in school. Even those who scored 200/200 in some subjects were made to work in the bakery or study theology. All these point towards a sinister attempt to bar practical and worldly knowledge to the children, indoctrinate them to such an extent that they would be dependent on the pastor forever. A negative impression was created about the government and its services from the initial stage. The children felt proud about being taken to private hospitals. It is pertinent to note that medical records of a girl having undergone abdominal Ultrasonography (a cyst was found in her ovary) and a physically and mentally specially abled girl who underwent treatment as an inpatient in a hospital for 5 days were not available. This and the lack of any mechanism to report sexual abuse raises suspicions about what went on in the place as denoted by the court.

Some children were branded as slow learners or as persons with learning disability without any records to prove it. One such child was sent to a special school but found to be normal and dropped out. Amid all this they were taken to Germany and Poland and were made to do road shows, street plays, prayers in public places and churches like lifeless show dolls. No norms were followed in issuing guardianship certificates and passports were obtained through dubious methods. Even though the court had said that the child welfare committee was completely in the dark about these events, after going through the list of CWC officials, one wonders if there was any conflict of interest owing to which appropriate action wasn’t taken. In the absence of truth, we can only speculate.

One of the important findings that the judges highlighted is, “The children have been made to think that their pastor is suffering for the sins committed by them and in spite of the fact that he was their saviour, he is being troubled because of the sins of the girls”. In the end, the court ordered a CBI probe and the Collector, Social Welfare Officer and Child Protection officer to run the orphanage as the girls didn’t want to live anywhere else at that time. ADJ’s report noted that the older girls totally lacked general knowledge and confessed that they have never handled money.

They had no interaction with any person outside the home. “These children were brought up in artificial environment. The children know only three things: Jesus Christ, the Bible and the pastor. For them, pastor is God, they do not even watch television, it is anti-Christ for them,” Mr.Narayanan, founder of Change India said.

One of the volunteers of the NGO stated “No local person, except the Pastor’s friends, ever visited. They were forcibly involved in prayer and groomed for evangelist work”.

“A teacher from St. Philomena’s High School, which the girls attended for some years, tells me the Mose girls did not mingle with their classmates, had learning difficulties, and were entirely unexposed “to the outside world” reported The Hindu journalist Rohini Mohan whose article was the most detailed of the MSM reports.

Even girls who finished nursing courses weren’t allowed to work but made to do theology courses. So it is difficult to see reason in the court’s decision that the girls should be allowed to live as per their wish. What would they do in the real world without even knowing how to handle money! Even as the investigations were on and attempts to locate the parents through DNA tests were going on, the girls staged a road blockade demanding to be allowed to celebrate Christmas with their ‘Redeemer’. ‘The court order of January 2016 stated that the District Social Welfare Officer had informed the court that the orphanage had procured the children through a nurse working in the Government Hospital at Usilampatti with the help of the former President of the village panchayat.’ as per TNM report.

Meanwhile the pastor and his wife escaped to Germany which delayed the CBI investigation. Some of the mothers, on getting to know from the nurses that their children have been given to adoption centres, turned hopeful that they would be leading a nice life with a foreign family only to be left in a lurch not being able to take care of their troubled children. When a mother, whose child was given away by her mother-in-law when she was unconscious due to a complicated delivery, demanded for her child 8 months later. “The head nurse told me that she’d given her to a German-run shelter,” she said. They told her it was too late and that “some foreign family” had probably adopted the child. “I asked myself what could I offer the child? A drunk father, an ailing mother, a single meal a day, probably half an education.” She told herself her daughter would have a better future with a loving, affluent family abroad. She stopped looking”, Ms.Rohini reported. Father of a girl whose mother died giving birth to her said, “There was no one to take care of the baby. My mother wanted to kill it, but I did not agree for that. So, my friend and I handed over the baby to a child care home..Now, I want my daughter back”

“Parents told me that when a girl was born and the family was depressed, at that moment, the nurse would say, just leave the kid” said Devendran, an activist who helped identify the parents. Some parents even claim that they gave their kids to Mr.Jacob with the promise that they will get to meet their children often but the home was shifted in few days without them being notified.

While parents were looking forward to the reunion the court directed that girls above 18 years (82 out of 89 at that time) should be left to live as they wish and minor girls should be shifted to a new home. In between, a girl married a man working with the church run by Mr.Jacob and moved out of the orphanage. When the parents whose DNA tests yielded positive results approached the social welfare department of Trichy asking to execute the court’s orders fearing the pastor would influence the girl’s decision, they didn’t receive any concrete reply. Meanwhile the absconding pastor told BBC that whatever he did was with the social welfare department in the know of things.

The ways through which he obtained money from abroad for ‘saving’ the girls is explained in this post:

‘Pastor Gideon Jacob appears to be running Mose Ministries, Tiruchirappalli via a Company (likely Sec. 25, as can be seen from Part-5 of its CIN which stands as NPL). The name of the company is: Good Shepherd Evangelical Mission Private Limited and its CIN=U93090TN1974NPL006617. The same is also provided in the CIFI website. The Directors are Gideon Jacob and Ute Jacob’. As ‘Any amount received, in lieu of goods or services rendered by such person in the ordinary course of his business, trade or commerce whether within India or outside India or any contribution received from an agent or a foreign source towards such fee or cost shall be excluded from the definition of foreign contribution’.

Under Foreign Contribution Regulation Act, 2010, it is likely that the company offered ‘services’ to the German evangelical NGO Christliche Initiative fur Indien (CIFI) for which it was paid. The company was put in Defaulters list in April.

Now all the girls have attained majority, their parents have been found and Mr.Jacob has been arrested on arrival at Chennai airport. But has justice been served after all these years? No, even more skeletons roll down as Mr.Narayanan of Change India has claimed that 125 girls were shifted from Usilampatti to Trichy out of which only 89 are now with Mose Ministries today. No details could be found as to what happened to the rest of them. The cruel pastor even made sisters live as strangers making them believe that they were children of different parents left at his doorstep.

What happens to all the corrupt officials from the Social Welfare Officer who issued fake guardianship certificates, to passport officer who flouted rules, to the Mahila court judge, Jacinta Martin, whom the HC bench actually restrained from recommending action for siding with the girl’s decision without considering the fact that they exhibited symptoms of Stockholm Syndrome?

Is it wise to let our women and children be under the influence of certain religionists by letting them run an unbelievable number of homes and orphanages even as we are facing demographic challenges? Is it wise to let them take over a whole department through NGOs (most of the childline NGOs also belong to or filled with the same people). Will we wake up in time?

Govt clamps down on benami properties, may make Aadhaar linking mandatory soon

0

Union Housing Minister Hardeep Puri has said that in order to curb the benami property menace, mandatory linkage of Aadhaar may be made soon. In an interview given to Economic Times, Puri said, linking property transactions to Aadhaar will go a long way in sucking out black money from real estate and help in cracking down benami properties.

Refraining from making an announcement on linking Aadhaar to property deals, Puri said, since the government has already been taking steps like linking Aadhaar to bank accounts, they may take additional steps for property as well. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has, on several occasions, indicated that there will be a crackdown on benami properties and linking Aadhaar will be one of the many steps in that drive. Earlier in May, PM Modi had said that the law against benami properties came up in 1988, but for 28 years, no one did anything about it.

Calling it a logical conclusion in government’s attempts at bringing transparency in economy, Puri said, while Aadhaar linkage will happen, no one can be absolutely sure that transactions between two people are completely transparent. Large-value transactions like property and air tickets should be monitored.

Commenting on the cashless economy, Puri said, while no economy in the world is completely cashless, moving around with large chunk of money is deterrent to a stable economy. MP Baijayant Jay Panda hailed the move and said while the shift may hurt, but then so does any major reform which aims to bring formal structural changes in the economy.

Earlier, on 9th November, Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) had also made it mandatory to link existing policies and new policies with Aadhaar.

Indian Railway starts operating its 1st express train service in Maoist bastion of Dantewada

0

In a significant push towards linking the Maoist affected regions to the national mainstream, the Indian Railways operated its first express train service in the Maoist infested region of Dantewada on Tuesday.

Such an operation was a result of the special Visakhapatnam-Jagdalpur express train getting extended towards Kirandul. As per the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Visakhapatnam, this is the first express train for the people residing in left-wing extremism affected areas and they hope that such measures would lead to the development of this area.

This train is 9 coaches long and includes one AC III tier and 3 sleeper coaches. As compared to its earlier route, it now covers 150 KM extra via the forested terrain till Kirandul in Dantewada. Out of the 15 stations on the route, the train will halt at just 4.

From the past 40 years only one passenger train has been running in the region and Piyush Goyal the current Railway Minister had announced its extension at the request of Chhattisgarh CM Raman Singh. As per Singh, this train would result in a huge developmental boost in the tribal-dominated backward region.

As this daily train service might face a Maoist threat, it would be accompanied by RPF personnel. Apart from this, overall security measures have been revamped in the area and patrolling, intelligence coordination has also been reviewed.

The Central government in recent days seems to be using development as a key tool in order to defeat the radical leftist ideology of the Maoists.

We had reported in the past how the Centre had decided to spend a whopping Rs 11,000 crore for providing road connectivity to 44 Maoist-affected districts, including Chhattisgarh’s Sukma, where 25 CRPF personnel were killed in a deadly Maoist ambush in April.

Apart from this, the ITBP jawans gave another jolt to Maoist aspirations by building a bridge over Tatoda river in the Maoist-infested Kaneri village of Chhattisgarh’s Rajnandgaon district, in just 30 days. This bridge before its completion was pending for about 9 years due to Maoist threat and its construction would help in the around 10,000 villagers of 60 villages.

To further solidify development in such regions, the Union power ministry headed by then Power Ministry Piyush Goyal was reported as working towards an action plan which would help in the electrification of the Maoist affected regions in the state of Chhattisgarh. It as a result had also identified 191 villages where electrification work was stranded thanks to a Maoist threat. The ministry was also assessing a plan to produce electricity through renewable source of energy.

The 8th lie of Vinod Dua’s video for The Wire that we missed, but social media didn’t

0

The amount of lies floating around is so much that despite keeping a vigilant eye, sometimes we miss out. But social media doesn’t. On Monday we had dissected Vinod Dua’s video for the left-leaning propaganda website The Wire, which had downplayed Moody’s upgrade.

Scientist and columnist Anand Ranganathan, who has a way with facts and has his satire mistaken for real news by mainstream media quite often, took it upon himself to add the last bit of fact check we missed in our post. Vinod Dua, in his factually incorrect video had mentioned an article by The Wire titled “At 732 Million, India Tops List on Number of People Without Access to Toilets”

The report went viral and was picked up by many in the mainstream media. Ranganathan breaks down the report and brings facts to the fore.

The Wire had published a chart sourced from WaterAid, an NGO, from their document “Out Of Order: The State of the World’s Toilets 2017.”

The report is based on the metric ‘lack of decent toilets’ and not lack of ‘toilets’.

This report was further sourced from WASHwatch, another NGO which also uses the phrase ‘basic sanitation’ and not ‘toilets’. The data on WASHwatch is again sourced from various organisations.

And these sources, too, use the phrase ‘basic sanitation’ and not ‘toilet’.

Ranganathan further states that these reports are based not on actual data, but are estimated from meta surveys where “without access to at least basic sanitation” means a toilet that is NOT shared by households.

So essentially, the headline that 732 million Indians don’t have toilet is not just misleading, but factually incorrect. But too late, since now, the report, and headline, have gone viral.

It is thus appalling how blatantly lies are not only being spun, but being carried forward by other media houses without basic fact checking. The propaganda industry seems to work like a well oiled machine, where one lie is carried forward seamlessly. We can only hope that The Wire and other media houses introspect as to where their journalism is leading the nation.

Modi government comes through for Muslim women – might table a bill making triple talaq a criminal offence

0

On 22nd August, the Supreme Court in a landmark judgement struck down the draconian practice of instant triple talaq, thereby providing some semblance of justice to those Muslim women who have been affected by this practice.

In the verdict the supreme court had put a 6 month stay in the practice and had asked the central government to bring in a legislature in the meantime.

The Modi government as a result seems to be planning just that and as per reports, has taken the first step to consider a legislation, which would make this practice a criminal offence. The bill in regards to that is likely to be tabled in the winter session of the parliament.

As per the report, a senior government functionary claimed that the government is very seriously considering making talaq-e-biddat a criminal offence. In order to usher in the legislation, a committee comprising of senior ministers like Rajnath Singh, Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitley, Ravi Shankar Prasad and Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has been formed.

What needs to be noted is that, even though the Supreme Court had outlawed the practice, it had failed to put a stop on the practice. We had reported how instances like, “Husband giving triple talaq to wife after she took food to a relative in hospital” and “Husband giving wife triple talaq after she tried to stop him from forcibly selling her land” kept happening even after the verdict was announced.

One of the reasons why a strong deterrent hasn’t been put in place may be because, the local police hasn’t yet received any instructions about how to take action in such matters, thanks to a lack of proper legislation surrounding the practice.

But when the legislation is indeed brought in, it would mean that the Muslim clerics would play no role in the matter and the women can directly approach the police for redressal. Currently the police aren’t able to act as husbands cannot be punished due to a lack of relevant penal provisions.

So now it seems to that long journey which began when Shah Bano was denied her rightful maintenance from her ex-husband thanks to petty party politics, might reach some sort of a conclusion, even though there are many more issues which still need to be addressed.

Scroll now says that it is ‘Hindu nationalism’ to speak for Hindu riot victims in Bangladesh

0

Some days ago, an angry mob of 20,000 surrounded a Hindu village in Rangpur area of Bangladesh and burned down 30 homes.

Untitled.png

The reason? A rumor about a Facebook post ‘insulting Islam’. Yes, what happens in West Bengal also happens in East Bengal.

It is hardly a surprise that Indian liberals would not find this worth talking about. Just 30 homes of poor Hindus burned down next door from our country. I don’t know about you, but when the ‘burkini’ was banned on beaches of distant France, my Facebook feed was exploding for weeks with righteous anger of liberal friends.

But Bangladeshi Hindus (or Pakistani Hindus) are one of those inconvenient people groups that modern liberal India prefers not to see at all. Their sufferings provide an obvious counterpoint to the whole “religion of peace” thing. It’s almost like if you took India and cut her into two pieces, one majority Hindu and the other majority Muslim, the Hindu majority part would remain secular while the Muslim majority part would declare itself an Islamic state.

That almost suggests that India remains secular due to its Hindu majority. What an inconvenient conclusion!!! As it is, Pakistani Hindus are down to like 2%. Why don’t they just disappear so that liberal and communist historians can claim that they never existed in the first place?

So, we all knew that liberals would remain silent over the attack on Hindus in Bangladesh.  But, well, Scroll managed to touch a new low.

Untitled.png

Yes, liberals have now gone over and above just staying silent on atrocities on Hindus. They are now actively condemning anyone who dares to comment on atrocities on Hindus.

Welcome to the terrifying new face of modern liberalism.

From now on, whenever Hindus are victims, liberals will not just roll up and go conveniently silent till the news cycle moves on. Those days are over. From now on, they are going to speak up and shout you down if you dare speak on victimization of Hindus.

Let’s read Scroll’s reasoning:

Untitled.png

Yeah, you read that right. Liberal internationalists who tear their hair out over America’s President and Israel’s actions in the Middle East cannot believe that India would care about riot victims just across the border.

Yeah, why would India “involve itself” in an affair that does not concern India? We should go pick a fight with Myanmar over Rohingya Muslims instead, right? Let the Bangladeshi Hindus remain at the mercy of murderous mobs.

Unprecedented indeed. Because India has much better things to do, such as supporting Palestinians in the West Bank and the Gaza strip. And what about that Trump and what he may or may not be doing to Muslims in his country? And why would India’s mainstream political parties turn their backs on Jagmeet Singh, the dashing Canadian politician who has done nothing but support “self-determination” for whether Punjab should be its own country. So intolerant of Modi’s new Hindu nationalist India.

That’s modern liberalism for you.

Let me tell you a story from 2006. So, there’s these guys and they are in a faraway country called Denmark. And what do these guys do one day? They decide to draw some cartoons in a local Danish newspaper.

Here is the official response of Dr. Manmohan Singh, Prime Minister of the Republic of India, to cartoons published in a Danish newspaper (in a letter to the Shahi Imam of Delhi’s Jama Masjid)

Untitled.png

That’s right. The Indian government got involved with cartoons published in a newspaper in a remote Northern European country. About pieces of paper with ink on them. But how dare they talk about actual human beings getting their homes burned down by angry mobs in Bangladesh next door? The latter would be “unprecedented”, because the victims in the latter case were Hindus.

So, if 20,000 people surround a Hindu village and burn it down, demanding punishment for the rioters is communal.  Justice is the new bigotry.

They always believed it. Now they are saying it.

Youth Congress’s magazine slammed for creating an elitist meme against PM Modi

The official twitter handle of the Congress party has always managed to goof up or generate controversy in one way or another.

Some of the instances include getting lampooned for posting silly multiple choice options in its #KnowYourLegacy twitter quiz, which attempted to glorify various aspects of the Gandhi family and the political party. This hashtag later came back to haunt the party as it started getting used by twitter users to post sarcastic questions attacking the party.

Apart from promoting unintended banter, the twitter handle was also caught red-handed while trying to spread half-truths and whole lies to try and debunk demonetisation.

Now it seems that @yuvadesh, the official handle of the Indian Youth Congress’s online magazine, has decided to give the party handle a run for its money when it comes to generating controversies.

Earlier this evening the twitter handle decided to tweet a meme which involved PM Modi, Donald Trump and Theresa May as the central characters:

As seen above PM Modi is seen complaining against the “May Mays” which the opposition was making against him. Trump was thus seen enlightening Modi about the correct pronunciation of “meme”, Theresa then very condescendingly asked Modi to go and sell tea.

This meme by the youth congress magazine reeked of an elitist mindset of congress’s youth magazine where a humble and respected profession of a tea seller is considered menial and “classless”. It also showed the youth magazine’s contempt against individuals with a modest upbringing who as per its viewpoint were beneath those enjoying an unearned privileged lifestyle.

As a result, people, were shocked at the party magazine’s conduct and decided to react:

BJP leaders too wasted no time in attacking the party:

Soon the twitter handle seems to have realised the negative impact of its tweet and decided to delete it. Senior leaders of the congress party too rapidly got into damage control mode:

Also this isn’t the only time such an elitism has been displayed by those associated with the Congress party. In 2014 ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar too had made a comment that:

I promise you in 21st Century Narendra Modi will never become the Prime Minister of the country. …But if he wants to distribute tea here, we will find a place for him

This was believed to have ticked off many voters who felt that it exposed the anti-poor side of the Congress party. Perhaps the party leaders have now learnt the lesson and ahead of the crucial Gujarat polls, chose to rapidly distance the party from the antics of its youth magazine.
