Bengaluru: Professor Abdul Mohammed proposes to teenage student in classroom, gets thrashed by the student

A major controversy broke out at Sri Siddhartha Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Centre in T. Begur near Nelamangala in Bengaluru Rural after a professor, identified as Abdul Mohammed (50), proposed to a 19-year-old female student in a classroom during a lecture. The incident, which took place on Wednesday, 25th March, quickly went viral after students recorded videos on their phones, leading to outrage and a chaotic situation on campus.

Viral videos capture heated exchange

According to the videos circulating online, the professor addressed the class and claimed that a student had proposed to him and that he also had feelings for her. In one clip, he is heard saying he wanted to propose to “one of the most important girls in our batch,” before naming the student.

Another video shows a direct conversation between the two.
Professor: “How come you proposed to me?”
Student: “When did I propose?”
Professor: “Didn’t you say ‘I love you’?”
Student: “Excuse me? When did I propose?”
Professor: “There is CCTV.”
Student: “Show me that.”

The situation became more tense when the student told him, “If you want to speak, you can go to the principal. The entire batch will come with you.” When the professor said, “I will talk to you tomorrow,” she replied firmly, “I don’t want to talk.”

Tensions escalate into violence

After this exchange, the professor left the classroom and asked students to take the chocolates, which he had brought in large quantities. However, soon after he walked out, the situation escalated.

The argument between the teacher and the student soon turned into a physical confrontation. According to the reports, the student, along with other students, confronted the professor. In the process, the teenager struck the professor with her footwear, while others were seen using abusive language and confronting the teacher.

The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of the Nelamangala Rural Police Station. In spite of the seriousness of the situation, the police officials stated that no complaint has yet been registered either by the teacher or the student.
