On Monday (20th July), the US forces launched fresh strikes on Iran. The US Central Command said that its strikes were aimed at “degrading” Iran’s ability to target commercial vehicles in the Strait of Hormuz.
Iranian media reported that explosions were heard in Tabriz, Chabahar, Konarak, Bandar Mahshahr and Bandar Imam Khomeini.
“CENTCOM began conducting a new wave of strikes against Iran at 7 p.m. ET today for the ninth consecutive night. The strikes will continue degrading Iranian military capabilities used to attack commercial vessels and civilian mariners transiting the Strait of Hormuz,” the US CENTCOM said.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard announced that it has hit American military targets with ballistic missiles in Kuwait and US aircraft in the Aqaba Airport in Jordan.
Kuwaiti military authorities confirmed damage to a second water and power plant. Sirens were also sounded in Bahrain, where the authorities said that they thwarted Iranian missile and drone attacks.
As two US troops were killed in action and one remains missing, President Donald Trump said that Iran was hit “very hard” on Monday. Trump said that the latest strikes on Iran were carried out “in honour” of the killed US military personnel.
Following the US strikes, Iran vowed not to let a “single drop” of oil or gas pass through the Strait of Hormuz, which it has blocked as negotiations with the US fall apart.
