The development comes after the Taliban government on Friday said that it was open to negotiations, hours after Pakistan's strikes in its three provinces.

Pakistan' Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif accused the Taliban government of turning Afghanistan into a colony of India and being a proxy of India.

Pakistan’s Information Ministry said the operations targeted camps linked to Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Islamic State affiliates.

The Trump administration will suspend immigrant visa processing for 75 countries, including Pakistan, starting January 21. The move aims to prevent new arrivals from becoming a "public charge." While permanent residency applications are paused indefinitely, temporary tourist and student visas remain unaffected.

The relatives of those killed by the accused were reportedly offered the option of forgiveness and reconciliation, but they refused.

According to the State Bank of Pakistan, exports to Afghanistan dropped by 57% in October alone. In 2024, Pakistan had exported goods worth $800 million to Afghanistan.

This move will help improve healthcare standards in Afghanistan and reduce dependence on substandard imported medicines.

Accused Rahmanullah Lakanwal is an Afghan national who entered the U.S. in 2021 through Operation Allies Welcome. He had been living in Washington before the attack.
