According to reports, if a student is caught cheating, he will be allowed to complete the exam on a fresh answer booklet. The invigilator-in-charge can record the cheating and take away the materials used.

Sahil Wakode was "taken to the superiors, where he signed a written apology letter for copying in the exam," after he was caught cheating.

The Mumbai Crime Branch investigating the death of IIT-Bombay student Sahil Wakode has recorded the statement of a friend who took his last phone call.

“Mujhse galti ho gayi hai [I have made a mistake,” Sahil Wakode told his girlfriend, according to the police account. He also spoke about his earlier Thermodynamics paper and said, “My earlier thermodynamics paper didn’t go well, and now this has happened.”

The Board of Governors also considered the demands raised by students and is learnt to have accepted most of them, except those seeking resignations.

The IIT Bombay professor and others have been accused of making "provocative social media posts" in the Sahil Wakode suicide case.
