The murder of a 22-year-old woman, identified as Swathi Ramesh Badigere from Masur village in Rattihalli Taluk, has triggered controversy, with calls for justice circulating on social media.

The First Information Report (FIR) was filed under IPC Sections 354A, 354C, 376, 506, 504, 120(b), 149, 384, 406, 308. Apart from the BJP MLA Munirathna, six other individuals have been charged in the case, including Vijay Kumar, Sudhakara, Kiran Kumar, Lohit Gowda, Manjunath and Loki.

Following an upheaval in the local community over the incident, the police swung into action and arrested Altaf and Zubaira.

In his complaint, Bopanna accused Bharti of making false claims against Rahul Gandhi in a video. He claimed that Bharti's statement spread false information with the "intent to provoke dissent and hatred among various religious groups" and was aimed to "disturb public peace and incite disorder".

As seen in the viral video, the Muslim attackers slapped the Hindu man and the Muslim woman while one of the accused is heard saying “Tumko sharam nahi aa rahi, Musalmaan ka naam kharab karne… [Are you not ashamed to ruin the name of Muslims]”

When the news of the attack spread, members of the Hindu community gathered outside the hospital and demanded justice for Umesh. They also sought the immediate arrest of the perpetrators.
