Two young teachers were killed by Maoists in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh, on suspicion of being police informers. With this, the civilian death toll in Maoist violence in 2025 has reached 25, exposing the ongoing threat to development in Bastar.

TKP-ML, which is active in Turkey, criticised the Indian government, describing it as "fascist Brahmanical Hindutva RSS-BJP Regime" for killing Basavaraju.
General Secretary of CPI (Maoists) Basavaraju, who was neutralised by security forces at Abujhmad area in insurgency-hit Narayanpur district, had received training in targeting security forces from the LTTE.
Despite the challenges, the security forces and the government relentlessly continued their efforts to end the Naxal menace in not only Abujhmadh but the entire Dandakaranya region.
Operation Kagar is a part of the Modi government’s multi-pronged strategy combining aggressive military operations, enhanced coordination between Central and State forces, and development efforts to address the root causes of Naxalism.
