The Centre refuted price hike rumours and said such reports create panic. It cited market projections and crude price rise as triggers. Earlier the government had said that refineries are running at full capacity with sufficient fuel stock.
The price of petrol has surged by Rs 3, bringing the cost per litre in Bengaluru to Rs 102.84, up from the previous rate of Rs 99.84. Similarly, the price of diesel has increased by Rs 3.02, raising the cost per litre from Rs 85.93 to Rs 88.95.
The price of petrol has increased by 92 paise per litre, while diesel price has surged by 88 paise. Notably, fuel prices have been raised for the second time this year.
The latest reduction in the duty is not from the Excise Duty but instead from the Additional Excise Duty, which is not shared with the states. Hence, the proposed reduction is entirely borne by the Centre.
