The Supreme Court ruled that reserved category candidates scoring above the General cut-off on merit can claim open seats, if they have not used any other caste-based relaxations. Dismissing Rajasthan HC recruitment appeals, it emphasised open categories belong to no caste, ensuring fairness under Articles 14 and 16
"This Court finds no substance in the arguments of the counsel for the petitioner that the temple situated within a 50-meter radius of the petitioners’ meat shops is not a public temple," the Judge noted in its order dated September 1, 2025.
