Out on bail in National Herald case, Congress President Rahul Gandhi has sought a probe against PM Narendra Modi for corruption and weakening National Security for providing ‘Rafale’ contract to his friend.

Referring to Swedish Telecom major Ericsson’s contempt plea in the Supreme Court against Reliance Communications chief Anil Ambani, Congress President Rahul Gandhi called upon for an investigation against Modi for allegedly handling the Rafale contract to his ‘friend’ Anil Ambani and in the process jeopardising the national security of the country.
Telecom equipment manufacturer Ericsson has filed its second contempt petition in the Supreme Court against Reliance Communications’ Chairman Anil Ambani, asking him to be detained and barred from travel overseas unless he ensures payment Rs 550 crore to Ericsson.
The RCom has separately initiated contempt proceedings in the Supreme Court against Department of Telecommunications for delaying the spectrum that could have enabled them to pay the dues to Ericsson.
But this is a bit rich coming from someone who is already out on bail in National Herald case. Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi were granted bail on December 2015 in the National Herald case of cheating and misappropriation. Last month, the court had asked National herald to vacate its property in New Delhi and questioned it how property worth crores was transferred to Young India, a firm owned by Sonia and Rahul Gandhi.
It is notable here that Rahul Gandhi and his party have been claiming ‘corruption’ in the Rafale deal despite repeated clarifications from the government. Rahul Gandhi’s often repeated claim of PM Modi ‘gifting’ a 30,000 crore deal is also based on lies and gross ignorance of hard facts.
Regarding Rafale deal too, the Supreme Court had rejected occurrence of any wrongdoing in procuring the Rafale fighter jets. Eric Trappier, Dassault Aviation’s CEO, had also refuted the allegations levelled by Rahul Gandhi regarding the offset partners. Trappier had clearly enunciated that Anil Ambani’s company was one of the offset partners that Dassault voluntarily chose without any political pressure from the Indian government.
