Haryana was rocked by massive protests in February 2016 by the Jat community, which demanded reservations under the Other Backward Community (OBC) status.
These protests which were earlier said to be peaceful, soon escalated into violence which resulted in the deaths of 30 people in three days. The violent nature of the protests can be gauged by the fact that a mob burnt down the house of Haryana’s Finance Minister Captain Abhimanyu. Reports have claimed that the mob comprising of hundreds of rioters, had even tried to burn his family members alive, besides looting articles worth crores from the premises.
It has been reported that the agitation which also spread to the other Northern States is estimated to have resulted in a total loss of Rs 34,000 crore.
Now in a sensational revelation by CNN News18, the news channel has claimed that the Jat agitation in Haryana was a pre-planned political conspiracy to topple the BJP government:

The report claims that there seemed a pre-planned conspiracy to attack Captain Abhimanyu’s house. It claimed that besides naming 40 people in the chargesheet pertaining to the matter, 11 additional names including that of Gaurav Hooda have been brought in.
Gaurav Hooda is incidentally the son of Congress leader Krishnamurti Hooda and is also claimed to be close to former Congress Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda. The report thus alleged that the Congress and Bhupinder Hooda were behind instigation the protesters.
The report claimed that these details are emerging thanks to an additional investigation by the CBI, which led to the additional 11 people being named in the chargesheet, and have been dubbed as the real perpetrators of the crime.
The Congress though has denied all these allegations.
