Police complaint filed against actress Richa Chadha for mocking Indian Army and martyrs of Galwan clash

On Thursday, November 24, filmmaker Ashoke Pandit took to Twitter to inform that he has filed a police complaint against Bollywood entertainer Richa Chadha at the Juhi police station for her outrageous Tweet mocking the Indian Army and martyrs of the Galwan clash.

Tagging Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde, Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis and the Mumbai police, the filmmaker Tweeted, “I filed a police complaint against actress #RichaChadha at #JuhuPolicestation (Mumbai). Nobody has a right to mock our soldiers. I hope @MumbaiPolice will act against her as per the law of the land. @mieknathshinde @Dev_Fadnavis.”

Ashoke Pandit, who is the president of the Indian Film & Television Directors’ Association, shared a copy of the police complaint he filed at the Juhu police station. The complaint read, that Richa Chadha has mocked and insulted our security forces, especially those who laid down their lives in Galwan valley fighting our enemies.

Pandit accused Chadda of insulting the families of our soldiers and demanded that she be punished for her criminal behaviour. “By this criminal act of hers she has insulted the families of our security forces. Its an act against the nation and hence an FIR should be filed against her for conspiring against the nations internal security.”

After Chadha was called out by netizens for the ‘Galwan’ jibe at the Indian Army, she issued a half-hearted apology on Twitter today. Richa Chadha took to Twitter to tender her ‘apology’, she tagged her lawyer Saveena Bedi Sachar and attached an apology message. “If the 3 words which are being dragged into controversy have offended or hurt anyone, I apologise and also say that it would sadden me if even unintentionally my words have triggered this feeling in my brothers in the Fauj of which my own Nanaji has been an illustrious part.”

Before tweeting the ‘apology’, Chadha did not leave the opportunity to play the victim as well. She, in a tweet, posted this morning claimed to have received a ‘call’. “Just received a ‘call’, had muted replies so had no idea… bye all,” Richa Chadha tweeted with the reply feature disabled.

Reacting to Chadda’s apology, Ashoke Pandit told Republic TV that the actor’s behaviour was shameful and that she should be arrested so that such conduct is not repeated.

Ahead of the Gujarat Assembly Elections, the hunt for the secretary of the Indian National Congress party has intensified after the Police and the Election Commission’s team discovered Rs. 75 lakh cash from a car parked at Rangrej Tower near Jadakhadi Mohalla in Mahidhar Pura area of Surat City.

According to reports, Congress leader BM Sandeep had rushed to the Angadiya (courier) firm headquarters in the car to collect Rs. 75 lakh in cash. However, he fled from the spot after the Static Surveillance team (SST) intercepted the car with three occupants.

The CCTV footage showing BM Sandeep running on the streets appeared on social media on Thursday while the local police and the Income Tax agency began an investigation into the case. As per the Twitter bio of BM Sandeep, he is from Chikmagalur and is the Congress party’s Secretary and also in charge of the Gujarat Congress. He was the AICC secretary of the Congress party’s Maharashtra section and the former national convener of the RGPS Karnataka.

The Election Commission’s Static team was doing normal checks in the Mahidharpura region when Rs. 74.80 lakh cash was seized from an Innova vehicle registered under name ‘Vinayak Travels’. While the driver and another young person have been detained, the other person present at the scene managed to escape. The vehicle had Maharashtra RTO approval. Officials also said they found leaflets of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s Surat rally from the vehicle beside a VIP car pass bearing the name of BM Sandeep. The cash retrieved from the car was tallied and verified by police officers.

The inspection began at about 11.30 pm when the car MH 04 ES 9907 arrived. The police detained the driver and two more people, but one of them got away and fled the scene. One of the detained youngsters was identified as Uday Gurjar from Delhi, while the other has been identified as Muhammad Faiz from Surat. The one who fled the scene later was identified as Congress leader BM Sandeep from Karnataka.

During interrogation, the driver told police that the destination of the journey was Shri Ram Angadiya Pedhi in the Mahidharpura region, from where money was to be acquired and transferred to the individual whose name and location were to be transmitted over the phone yet.

Meanwhile, Surat Congress leader Naishadh Desai has denounced any link between the Congress party and the money recovered. According to the Congress website, BM Sandeep Kumar is the Congress party’s Secretary in charge of Gujarat, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu. However, Naishadh Desai branded this as a “conspiracy” and stated that nothing is obvious from the video, neither the location nor the face of the person running on the street. 

Gujarat which has 182 assembly constituencies will go for polling in two phases on December 1 and 5. The counting of votes will occur on December 8, which coincides with Himachal Pradesh’s result date.

On Tuesday, November 22, 2022, the Additional City Civil and Sessions Court in Bangalore stayed the distribution and sale of a book about Tipu Sultan in response to a petition filed by the former Chairman of the District Wakf Board Committee. The petition claims that the book propagates inaccurate information about Tipu Sultan, the 18th-century Islamic ruler of the former Mysore province. 

According to the court order, the book “Tipu Nija Kanasugalu” (Real Dreams of Tipu), authored by Rangayana director Addanda C. Cariappa, is prohibited from being sold by the author, publisher Ayodhya Publication, and printer Rashtrotthana Mudranalaya until December 3.

Notably, Former District Wakf Board Committee Chairman BS Rafiulla filed the lawsuit, alleging that the book contains erroneous information about Tipu Sultan with no historical foundation or justification. Furthermore, he claimed that the word “turukaru,” which appears in the book, is an insult to Muslims. He claimed that the publication of the book would cause turbulence and social upheaval, disrupting public harmony.

The petitioner also contended that the author failed to include sources for the information in the book. The petitioner claimed that the author of the book’s foreword and the book’s author claims that the content is based on truth and accurate history and that this claim is wrong.

Taking the petitioner’s arguments into account, Additional City Civil and Sessions Court judge JR Mendonca ruled, “If the contents of the book are false and it contains false information about Tipu Sultan, and if the same information is distributed, it would cause irreparable loss to the plaintiff, and there is a chance of breach of communal peace and harmony.”

The court also observed, “If the book is circulated pending the appearance of the defendants, the purpose of the application itself would be defeated. It is common knowledge that controversial books sell like hotcakes. Therefore, at this stage, the balance of convenience is in favour of the plaintiff in granting the order of injunction.”

Notably, sessions court judge Jerald Rudolph Mendonca or JR Mendonca had previously granted interim bail to Nalini Balakumar, a Mysore University alumna who held a ‘Free Kashmir’ placard during anti-CAA protests at Mysore University. The girl was charged with the offence of sedition under section 124(A) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Following that, the Mysuru Bar Association denied the victim legal aid and stated that they would not represent the victim, whom they claimed was involved in anti-national activities. Even the lawyer who was representing her had withdrawn from the case. However, some lawyers eventually defied the boycott and sought to take up her case.

Mendonca while granting bail to Nalini had stated at the time that the alleged offence was not solely punishable by death or life imprisonment. The court also stated that Nalini Balakumar has no criminal history and no ties to any banned organisation. According to the court, the petitioner immediately accepted that she had shown the placard and had explained her position in the matter, and she was also cooperating with the investigation. Mendonca also said that freedom of speech is necessary for the success of democracy as an individual has the right to express their opinion on having correct knowledge of the issues.

On Thursday, the famous Jama Masjid in New Delhi decided to ban females from entering the Masjid by themselves. The Masjid administration issued an order prohibiting single or groups of girls from entering the mosque unless accompanied by males.

According to reports, the Jama Masjid management has put up signs outside the mosque notifying visitors that girls are not welcome inside. The sign boards are placed outside the three entrances of the mosque. “It is forbidden for girls/women to enter Jama Masjid alone,” the signboards read.

However, Sabiullah Khan who is the PRO of the Masjid stated that the entry of women is not barred but the entry of women coming alone is barred. “When women come alone, they do improper acts, videos are shot, photos are clicked. An order has been issued to stop all this. No restrictions on families or married couples. Making religious places a meeting point is inappropriate, be it Masjid or Mandir,” he said.

“Women make TikTok videos. They dance in the Masjid premises. They come and meet men here and this has to stop. If women want to come here for worship they would be welcome. But they cannot see religious places like Masjids as a park. Masjid is for worship and everyone must only do that here,” he added.

The Jama Masjid in its order also mentioned that females will be permitted to enter the Mosque only with their husbands or family members. The order and the administration however have been criticised by many who said it belongs to a ‘fundamentalist mentality.’

While women coming alone are supposedly creating a nuisance by indulging in inappropriate acts and shooting TikTok videos, it hasn’t been clarified how women in groups are supposedly creating trouble.

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) also happened to condemn the order and called the act of the administration ‘anti-women’. The VHP has also asked the Women and Child Development Ministry as well as the National Women Commission to look into the matter and take appropriate action. Meanwhile, Delhi Commission for Women chairperson Swati Maliwal also hit out at the Jama Masjid over the issue.

“The decision to stop the entry of women into Jama Masjid is wrong. As much as a man has the right to worship, so also does a woman. I am issuing notice to the Imam of Jama Masjid. No one has the right to ban the entry of women like this,” she said.

Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan constructed Delhi’s Jama Masjid between 1650 and 1656. The mosque includes three massive gates, four towers, and two 40-meter-high minarets made of red sandstone with white marble strips.

Deceased actor Siddhaanth Vir Surryavanshi’s daughter Diza has penned a heartfelt note remembering her father, who died on November 11 after he collapsed at a gym aged 46. Diza posted an Instagram story where she spoke about her father being in an abusive relationship and being mistreated by the “lady he married in 2017”.

Taking to Instagram, Diza, wrote without taking any names, “Five years ago today my father made the biggest mistake of getting married to a psychotic woman with a sociopathic family which drove my father into depression and caused irreparable emotional pain to him and his entire family. I wouldn’t get into their personal problems (but they treated and talked to my father in such inhuman humiliating language).

Diza alleged that her father’s second wife and her family forced him to stay away from her. “They kept him away from me. They said that the relationship I had with my father was wrong and that I had to be distanced from him. They said I am not allowed to hold my own father’s hand while walking bcs it is incorrect. My father was not ALLOWED to meet me more than a particular number of hours which also was decided by them. My father was not allowed express his love and his pride whenever something good happened with me. That family tried to take my father away from me physically and now, he is gone”, she wrote in her story.

The deceased actor’s daughter asserted that her father was not facing any financial issues nor had any health-related problems, and had it not been for the emotional stress he was in because of his new wife and her family, he would have not departed so soon.

“My father was under no stress financially and had no health problems. That family exploited him and caused unimaginable pain. I would gladly list each and every one of them to whoever asks. If five years ago I could stop him from indulging in this, the possibility of him being alive right now wud be tenfold,” alleged Diza, further informing that her father had separated from his second wife in February 2022 and had no intent to return to her.

“I’m being mindful of social media and keeping my language as moderate as possible but that family has actually, literally taken my father away from me and I do not wish them a moment’s peace or happiness. They can’t possibly think that after they killed my father like this, they can ever stand a chance of forgiveness,” wrote Diza.

Television actor Siddhaanth Vir Surryavanshi died of a cardiac arrest

Mandeep Bajwa, a ‘military affairs’ columnist, and a Congress member praised Chadha for being ‘brave’ and ‘gutsy’ for insulting the Indian Army.

It is worth noting that in June 2020, Indian soldiers clashed with Chinese soldiers in the Galwan valley, resulting in the deaths of 20 Indian soldiers. Several Chinese soldiers were killed in the hours-long clash, but China never disclosed the exact number of soldiers killed.

Since that clash, which resulted in severe casualties on both sides, there has been a tense ceasefire in the Ladakh theatre between the two Asian giants, despite the fact that both countries have nearly 60,000 soldiers and advanced weapons deployed in the area.

Rajasthan: Anjali shot by husband Abdul Lateef’s brother over interfaith marriage in Murlipura

On Wednesday morning, a 26-year-old Hindu woman was shot at by three attackers in Murlipura in Jaipur, allegedly because she married a Muslim man. The husband, Abdul Lateef, has blamed the attack on his elder brother. Anjali survived the deadly attack, however, her condition is still critical, and she is currently under medical observation at Sawai Man Singh Hospital in Jaipur.

Anjali, who works at an Ayurvedic products store, was walking from her home to work at around 10:30 am when the attack took place.

Speaking about the incident, Anjali’s husband Abdul Lateef, who works as a salesman for a mobile payment company, said, “I had gone to work when I got to know that my wife was shot while she was going to her office at about 10:30 am. I had earlier sought security from the court as my brother was against our marriage.”

Abdul Lateef informed the police that he and Anjali got married in court on July 28, 2021. However, his family was opposed to their marriage. Abdul Lateef’s family was continuously pressurising him to leave Anjali. The duo had moved to the Murlipura area following their court marriage. Lateef also lodged a complaint at Sadar police station, however, no action was taken. Lateef has alleged that the attack on Anjali was carried out by his brother Abdul Aziz and his friends.

Notably, accused Aziz had threatened Anjali and Lateef in December last year that they will have to pay the price for their interfaith marriage.

Murlipura ACP Pramod Kumar Swami informed that three people have been arrested in the case, including Anjali’s brother-in-law Abdul Aziz along with his his accomplices Kalim and Raja. The weapon used in the attack has also been recovered. 

Abdul Lateef was earlier married to a Muslim girl, however, after a few months their marriage was called off and the girl was paid Rs 25 lakh for separation. Lateef’s brother Aziz, who owns a bangle factory had paid a large sum of Rs 25 lakh paid to Lateef’s first wife, DCP Swami added.

Former Pakistani minister Ch Fawad Hussain claims he will turn India to ‘Endia’ over PoK remark, gets befitting replies

Pakistan’s former Federal minister and Imran Khan loyalist Fawad Hussain, known for his Twitter antics and fake propaganda, once again took to Twitter on Wednesday, November 23, to offer veiled threats to India. Reacting to the Indian Army’s response on PoK, Fawad claimed that his country would not take long to turn India into ‘Endia.’

In his unconscionable remark, the Pakistan politician asserted that if India attempted to reclaim PoK, Pakistan would retaliate by putting an end to India.

Fawad Hussain was referring to Northern Army Commander Lt General Upendra Dwivedi’s Tuesday statement that the Indian Army is ready to carry out orders from the Indian government, such as retaking Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

“As far as the Indian Army is concerned, it will carry out any order given by the Government of India. Whenever such orders are given, we will always be ready for it,” said Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi, Northern Army Commander, on the Defence Minister’s statement of taking back PoK.

“The military is always ready to make sure that ceasefire understanding is never broken as it is in the interest of both nations, but if broken at any time, we will give them a befitting reply,” said Dwivedi, Northern Army Commander on the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan.

Earlier on October 28, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh reiterated New Delhi’s resolve to take back PoK, saying all refugees would get their land and homes back. Singh asserted that Pakistan had backstabbed India and was “committing atrocities” against the people in parts of Kashmir it had occupied.

While the Pakistan minister’s veiled threat to ‘end’ India was hailed by some radical Islamists, it infuriated many Indians on social media, who chastised Fawad Hussain for his audacious statement against India. However, most mocked the minister for trying to build castles in the air.

Some Twitter users ridiculed the Pakistan minister for his preposterous claim, reminding him of the past conflicts in which Pakistan suffered humiliating defeats at the hands of India.

One Twitter user going by the handle @kumar_c86 shared a picture to remind the minister of India’s heroic triumph in the 1971 India-Pakistan war that liberated Bangladesh from Pakistan.

At that time, the barbaric Pakistani Army had slaughtered hundreds of Hindus inside the temple before eventually razing it down. After facing a crushing defeat, Lieutenant-General Amir Abdullah Khan Niazi, the Commander of the Pakistan Eastern Command, signed the Instrument of Surrender at Ramna Race Course in Dacca, which was signed and accepted by Lieutenant General Jagjit Singh Aurora, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of India’s Eastern Command.

It’s hilarious that Pakistan’s ex-Science and Technology Minister Fawad Chaudhry sought to scare India with dire consequences, but Indians mocked him instead. This is because, Pakistan’s ex-science and technology minister Fawad Hussain, is the epitome of goof-ups when it comes to making bizarre and nonsensical statements.

He became a laughing stock across the media after Indian social media activists trapped him following the revocation of the special status provisions of Jammu and Kashmir. It all started when Fawad Hussain in a show of his foolishness, had issued an appeal to Punjabis in India to refuse to serve the Indian Army in Kashmir after India revoked Article 370.

Soon, Chaudhary fell prey to the Indian right-wing meme team on Twitter, making himself a clown on social media. The Federal Minister for Science & Technology in Pakistan, Fawad Hussain was made to look like a fool after Pokershash, a popular account on Twitter had sent a direct message to Hussain where he had sent images of Bollywood actors to claim that they were RAW agents posted in Pakistan.

The humiliation inflicted upon to Fawad Chaudhary is not just limited to Indian social media users. In fact, the amount of respect that he receives in his own country is much less than he gets in social media. During a debate in Pakistan’s National Assembly, a Pakistan senator likened Minister Fawad Chaudhry to a pet dog by calling him ‘dabbu’.

A columnist for Shekhar Gupta’s The Print, Dilip Mandal took to Twitter today, 24th November 2022, to trend the ‘casteist BCCI’ hashtag. Apparently, Dilip Mandal was upset that Surya Kumar Yadav is not a part of the ODI squad during the Indian tour of Bangladesh and he decided to blame it on the casteism of the selectors and the BCCI on the whole.

Surya Kumar Yadav, the current Number 1 T20 batsman, who has been playing cricket non-stop this year, has finally been given rest for the ODI leg of the Bangladesh tour. Yadav, who has been playing cricket non-stop since the IPL earlier this year, finally got the much-deserved rest during the upcoming series, but Dilip Mandal had to find a caste angle to it.

Notably, Indian selectors have rested every player during the past few months as they have tried to manage the immense workload of the modern players thanks to the non-stop cricket. Even the support staff, like the coach Rahul Dravid got rest as VVS Laxman stepped in as the coach for a couple of series during this time, including the ongoing tour of New Zealand.

In his long tirade against casteism in BCCI, and even attacking one of world’s greatest ever batsmen in Sunil Gavaskar, Mandal also bizarrely accused Ravi Shastri for keeping Surya Kumar Yadav out of the Bangladesh tour. Ravi Shastri is a commentator these days having served as Indian coach in the past.

Someone who doesn’t even know that Shastri stopped being an Indian coach quite a while back commenting on cricket is laughable as it is, but Mandal also accused BCCI of casteism for keeping Sanju Samson out of the ODI squad. Sanju, who was part of the Indian T20 squad in New Zealand, averages 32 in List A cricket, the domestic version of the 50 overs ODIs. An average of 32 is hardly making the case for selection to the national side, and in 114 List A games, Sanju has only one hundred to his name.

Sanju’s record in T20s is obviously a lot better than his 50-over performances, and hence, he is in or around the squad in the format.

BCCI selectors have not been perfect, especially in recent times when they have made quite a few strange selections but accusing them of casteism for giving a much-deserved rest to a player is as bizarre as it can get.

Uttarakhand government to modernise madarsas, decides to implement dress code, NCERT syllabus

On Thursday, the Uttarakhand government announced that the government has decided to revitalize the madarsas in the state. Waqf Board Chairman Shadab Shams stated that a dress code would be imposed at all 103 madarsas under the supervision of the Waqf Board in Uttarakhand beginning with the next session. 

The Chairman of the Waqf Board also stated that the NCERT syllabus will be implemented in all madarsas in the state. The madarsas will also function from 8 AM to 2 PM like regular schools.

Shadab Shams, speaking on the government’s efforts to modernise the madrasas, stated that the government is also planning to administer the madarsas like regular schools. The Waqf Board Chairman said that seven madarsas will be modernized in the first phase, including two in Dehradun, two in Udham Singh Nagar, two in Haridwar, and one in Nainital.

Shadab Shams said that as per the revised schedule, after the morning namaz at the madarsas at 6.30 AM, there will be a class on Quran studies for one hour. From 8 am to 2 pm, classes will be held on regular subjects like regular schools. He said that the madarsas will have uniforms like any other school, and added that they plan to induct students from all communities in the madarsas, not just Muslims.

Uttarakhand’s madarsas have also been asked to register with the state education board within a month or risk closure. According to the Uttarakhand government, the state has over 400 unregistered madrasas.

“Madarsas have been served an ultimatum to register with the state education department within a month. If they fail to meet the deadline, steps will be taken to shut them,” Uttarakhand Social Welfare and Minority Welfare Minister Chandan Ram Dass had said.

The government stated that it wants the madarsas to be registered so that the students’ welfare may be taken care of and they can benefit from national and state government initiatives. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami ordered the assessment after complaints surfaced that funding allocated to madarsas was not being used properly.
