It was Sri Lanka which made the world cup enjoyable when they beat England in their last game. That win not only created an opportunity for them but also for Pakistan and Bangladesh for the semi-final spot. If Sri Lanka wins there all three remaining games, they will qualify for the semis, if not then they must win at least 2 games from here on.
For the first time in the World Cup history, South Africa will be playing for completing the formalities. But for the pride, they will go all guns blazing and would be hoping to win their remaining contests in the tournament.
South Africa has a real concern with their batting, Amla the most experienced player has not fired at all. The others have not done well too, de Kock may have scored runs, but at a languid pace, Faf had a good start but didn’t convert into big ones. When your top 3 doesn’t perform well, you are bound to fail as a team. The bowlers too didn’t have a good tournament, but with injuries and all they had an excuse for their below-par performance.
Sri Lanka has to play for everything. Their remaining games are against West Indies and India. As per the form and record, it would be difficult for them to beat India, so they better win against South Africa and West Indies. They have a decent bowling unit that can uproot the out of form South African batting line up. However, they need to bat well; the batting has disappointed them on so many occasion in the competition already. So they must click together and put up a decent score for their bowlers to defend.
Players to watch out for
The one player on which South Africa relied heavily to give them a flying start, de Kock, has scored runs at the top but with a low strike rate. He needs to up the tempo for which he is known for; scoring runs at 120 or above strike rate. A good start may give confidence to the middle order batsman and can make a good total.
Malinga will be again the main firepower for Sri Lanka. The way he won the match for Sri Lanka, against the host nation, will be remembered for years. He can still turn the game into the team’s favor with his deadly slow yorkers. If he performs today, Sri Lanka’s task to win the match will become quite easy.

Chandrababu Naidu is a tenant of the Krishna Riverside residence, the property of which is owned by Lingamaneni Estates Pvt Ltd. The notice says that Naidu’s residence was built in violation of the river conservation rules. The residence is located within 100m of the Krishna river.
Reportedly, a total of 28 buildings including Naidu’s residence has been served a notice to clear the premises as they are built close to the river.
The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has termed the recent actions of the Jagan Reddy government as “vendetta politics”. Recently, the “Praja Vedika”, a conference hall built by Naidu next to his current residence has been demolished by the government for flouting environmental norms. The government had also removed Naidu’s ‘Z’ category security and had been scaled down to ‘Y’ with 2+2 armed gunmen. The security of other Naidu family members has been withdrawn completely.
The Cooch Behar district magistrate office (minority section) under Mamata Government has on Tuesday, issued circular directing state-run schools to construct a dining room for mid-day meals in all government or government-aided schools with 70 per cent or more minority students.
To implement the order, West Bengal’s Minority Affairs and Madrasah Education Department (MAMED) has sought an urgent list of state-run schools that have more than 70 per cent, Muslim students.
“In reference to the no:1173-MD/15011/10/207: dt:14/06/19 received from the Special Secretary, MA and ME Department, Government of West Bengal, you are requested to send the names of the government / government-aided schools having minority students more than 70 per cent as per format is given below within June 28 positively. This is for sending a proposal to the aforesaid department for construction of dining hall for mid-day meal in schools,” the directive issued by the District Officer (Minority Affairs) in Cooch Behar states.
Circular issued by WB government seeking names of schools with more than 70% Muslim students
According to the circular, the district education officer and the district inspector of schools are required to compile a list, by June 28, providing data that mentions the percentage of Muslim students in various state-run institutions.
BJP state President Dilip Ghosh, however, slammed Mamata government for playing appeasement politics. Uploading a copy of the circular on his Twitter handle, Ghosh wrote, “The West Bengal Government has issued a circular whereby it has directed the school authorities where 70 per cent or more students are from the Muslim community to reserve a dining hall with seating arrangements for them. Why this discrimination between the students on the basis of religion? Is there some other malafide motive behind this segregation? Another conspiracy?”
1.2 Why this discrimination between the students on the basis of religion? Is there some other malafide motive behind this segregation?
Another conspiracy ?
Mamata Banerjee has been receiving a lot of flak for her appeasement politics. Right after the general elections results were announced, Mamata had defended her politics by saying that ‘if a cow gives one milk, one has to be prepared for its kicks also’. She had said, “I like Muslims, no? I will go there a hundred times. ‘Je goru dudh dei tar lathio khete hoi; (if a cow gives milk, one has to be prepared for its kicks also),” she said, meaning, she would continue Muslim appeasement if it continues to benefit her.
England opener Bairstow has lambasted the critics who have criticized the team after their defeat against Australia on Tuesday. He said that English fans wait for them to fail so that they can criticize them.
The World Cup hosts battling for semi-final qualification, after their back to back defeats against Sri Lanka and Australia in the tournament.
Bairstow was especially talking about the former England players Vaughan and Pietersen who openly slammed the team and captain on social media.
Talking to media Bairstow said, “I’ve not even seen it, to be quite honest. I was on the radio this morning; I was surprised with a clip of Vaughan’s comments at 8.30am. Bloody hell. That’s pretty rich.”
“It is just showbiz: they are paid to have an opinion, and if they don’t have an opinion they get sacked,” said Bairstow, of Pietersen and Vaughan.
Bairstow continued, “Because we’ve done so well, any opportunity for someone to see we’ve lost two games, they were always going to jump on it. People were waiting for us to fail. They are not willing us on to win, in many ways they are waiting for you to get that loss, so they can jump on your throat. It’s a typical English thing to do, in every sport.”
Former England batsman, Kevin Pietersen branded skipper Morgan scared in the hosts’ 64-run loss to Australia.
The England captain stepping to square leg when Starc bowled his first delivery to him made me think England could have a little problem over the next week or so.
I hope not, but I’ve not seen a captain show such a weakness for a while…
“Our method doesn’t change, because of the way we go about it and the way we play, it doesn’t make a difference what’s been said here, what’s been said there. This group has been together for near-on three years now, if not longer. So just because we’ve lost two games in a crunch tournament and people start talking, it’s not going to change the way we go about it, said Bairstow.
England who entered the World Cup as favourites needs to win at least one game either against India and New Zealand to qualify for the semis.
An easy win for India put them on the second position of the World Cup’s points table. India needs to win just one game from the remaining three matches to reserve the seat for the semi-final. West Indies has now officially out of the Cricket World Cup.
On a sunny and dry day, India opted to bat first after winning the toss. Rohit and Rahul started the innings cautiously before Rohit was given out by the third umpire. The original decision was not out, but the third umpire overturned it even though there was not conclusive evidence of Rohit hitting the ball with his bat.
Rahul and Kohli added 69 runs for the first wicket, and it looked like India will cross 300 plus score, but then Rahul lost his wicket. This is not the first time he has thrown away his wicket after a great start; any top order batsman in these conditions would love to score big hundreds. The Indian middle failed again, Shankar and Jadhav fell cheaply.
Kohli at the other kept scoring runs and in the process becomes the 3rd Indian to score four consecutive 50 plus score in the World Cup and becomes the quickest to reach 20,000 International runs. When trying to accelerate the innings, Kohli fell at the score of 180 in the 30th over.
Dhoni who crawled to 18 runs off 38, shifted gears in the last few overs along with Pandya and made sure India reaches a decent score to defend against the hard-hitting West Indians. Dhoni scored 56 not out while Hardik fell 4 short of his first world cup half-century.
For West Indies, their captain Jason Holder bowled an excellent spell of 10 overs in which he took two wickets for just 33 runs. Kemar Roach too had a great day on the field and gave full support to his captain; he took three wickets for only 36 runs.
West Indies had a terrible start when they lost Gayle in the fifth over with just ten runs on the board. They never get off, losing wickets at regular intervals as Indian bowlers were in top form. All five regular bowlers got a wicket, and West Indies was bowled out for just 143 runs. Shami and Bumrah were once again terrific, taking 6 out of 10 wickets which fell in the innings. Shami once again took four wickets, and he is now the leading wicket-taker for India in ODIs in 2019.

Mohammad Shami took his 27th ODI wicket in the year 2019, the most by any Indian.
Chahal becomes the first Indian bowler to take ten wickets in this World Cup.
A group of nurses posted in the SNCU at district hospital Malkangiri were seen dancing and frolicking in a number of TikTok videos that have now gone viral. The nurses posted inside the SNCU ward, where critical newborns are kept for medical care, were busy making TikTok videos and dancing to movie songs in what is being seen as gross neglect to their duty and professional ethics.
#WATCH Viral TikTok video of a group of nurses frolicking inside the Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) of Malkangiri District Headquarters Hospital. Authorities inform that action will be taken after probe into the incident #Odisha
As per reports, a number of TikTok videos shot inside the SNCU of Malkangiri district hospital had gone viral on 26 June. The nurses were seen dancing, acting and merry-making inside a medical ward meant for newborns who need critical care. One of the videos also shows a nurse picking up a newborn, kissing and posing with it.
After the videos went viral, a lot of social media outrage and reactions has prompted the state government to take notice. Yesterday, Ajit Kumar Mohanty, the chief district medical officer of Malkangiri had stated that he is probing the matter and has informed the collector about it. He had assured that the concerned nurses will be issued a show cause notice and will be given 24-48 hours to reply.
Chief Dist Medical Officer, Malkangiri, Ajit Kr Mohanty on nurses recording TikTok videos inside SNCU of dist hospital: I probed&informed officers and Collector. They (nurses) will be given show-cause notice& 24-48 hrs to give reply over this. Dept will take action against them. pic.twitter.com/45hm8o9iLn
Naba Kishore Das, the state health minister had stated that he has sought reports over the issue and will take appropriate action.
As per latest reports, the state government has taken the issue seriously and has sent the 4 nurses seen in the videos on mandatory leaves. The nurses had admitted their mistake and had reportedly submitted their replies to the medical authorities. However, the nurses will not be allowed to report back on duty while the state government decides the course of action to be taken for the act of negligence of duty. The CDMO has reportedly submitted his report to the state government and further orders from the state government are awaited on the matter.
It is notable here that Malkangiri is a district with one of highest newborn mortality rates in the state. The Sick Newborn Care Units are the specialised care units in every district hospital that are meant to provide efficient care for the infants. The sheer carelessness and gross unprofessionalism displayed by the nurses is being widely criticised among the people.
The leftist propaganda website, The Wire, in an attempt to further the narrative that Muslims in India under the Narendra Modi government fear for their lives, recently interviewed former Congress leader Arif Mohammed Khan, who resigned from the Rajiv Gandhi cabinet after that government reversed the controversial Shah Bano judgement. Khan, much to The Wire journalist Arfa Khanum Sherwani’s chagrin, dismissed her fear mongering.
The Wire journalist makes it a point to start off with saying how out of the 303 BJP MPs, not a single one of them is Muslim, what will be the future of Muslims in India. She even wonders what will be the future of secularism in the nation.
Here are some of the highlights of the interview:
Arfa Khanum (AK): In his first speech in the Parliament, PM Modi talked about how Congress wants Muslims to stay in the gutter. Why after 33 years Modi, who got a thumping majority, with almost none or minimum Muslim support, does he keep talking about Muslims and Congress?
Arif Mohammed Khan (AMK): You are mixing two things: speaking about Congress and they getting a thumping majority. They are both different things. They got thumping majority because the country wanted them back. Both sides criticising the other is a part of democracy.
AK: Why did they even have to bring it up?
AMK: This is not a new thing. This is normal. This never stops in democracy. The PM did not bring it (triple talaq) on his own. He spoke of an old interview where a Congress minister took a stand against the government during the Shah Bano case, and reminded everyone how Congress does not have the political will to do things which are being referred to as appeasement. Congress did not have an intention to benefit a common Muslim, just a class which is a privileged class.
AK: Shah Bano judgement was reversed in 1986 and the first bill Modi government tables is on triple talaq. You seem to have become a prisoner of 1986 (when Shah Bano judgement was reversed by Rajiv Gandhi government).
AMK: Have the issues which came up in 1986 been solved?
AK: But circumstances have changed.
AMK: You are contradicting yourself. You yourself said that the first bill introduced is based on the issue which brought Shah Bano case to limelight. She was given triple talaq. Ayodhya. Is the issue solved?
AK: Modi government wants us to be stuck on these things.
AMK: Come to that thing which you said. Tell me, are the issues which were created in 1986 solved? I am not stuck in 1986. The issues which were created in ’86 took the country back to 1947. Wish we were in 1986. The hatred which was sowed in 1947… Do you know how many people were lynched in the 50s? Millions were killed. Always remember, when you try to live in the moment, you will always be disappointed. Do not let go of the perspective.
AK: The politics of 1947 was different and politics of 2019 is different. You are even saying that the Muslims shouldn’t be afraid of Hindutva politics.
AMK: First answer my question. If the issues of 1986 are still alive as they were back then, and the problems this Personal Law Board created for the nation are still as relevant even today. On 6th February, Rajiv ji had told me that no Muslim leader will oppose the lock which has opened in Ayodhya. I asked how? He said I had informed everyone before the locks were opened.
These issues are still alive and took us back to the time when India faced partition.
AK: Why bring 1986 issues now?
AMK: Because they are not solved. UPA had ten years, why didn’t they solve?
AK: Because there were other issues. Committees were set up.
AMK: Then what happened?
AK: Issues were identified.
AMK: They were identified long back. Please don’t try to mislead people.
AK: Is there no difference between the Modi government and previous Congress governments?
AMK: After Shah Bano case, Shahbuddin sahab worte a letter to the Prime Minister and Satanic Verses was banned. I want to ask you, what is the purpose of banning a book? The purpose is that things which are problematic should not be made available to people. After the controversy, I went to a book store in Khan Market. I had a copy which I had returned (before the ban). I asked whether that book is still available. I was informed as many as you want they are available. 7 copies were sold prior to the ban and after the ban 10,000 copies were sold. Another store also confirmed it.
I came back and put up an unstarred question in the Parliament when was the book banned and how many were confiscated. I was informed that not a single copy was confiscated.
So what was the intention behind banning the book? You agree with this duality? In last five years not a single riot took place in the country.
AK: What about small incidents?
AMK: I just told you it is not new.
AK: But before any elections, riots took place. If you remember 2013 riots in Muzaffarnagar, though another party was in power. There are all evidences where BJP officebearers and MLAs were involved who are now promoted and made ministers.
AMK: Whose responsibility was it to stop the riots in UP?
AK: But if on the grassroot level…
AMK: Amazing. Why did this hatred develop in the crowd?
AK: So you are saying communalism should be done openly.
AMK: You are saying this.
AMK: Six months back, Ghulam Nabi Azad in a meeting at Aligarh said the communalism in the country has increased so much that the candidates who used to call me, now 80% of them no longer invite me. Were those BJP candidates who used to invite him? Which party has become communal?
AK: Do you then agree that our country is becoming communal?
AMK: Our country is not becoming communal. Till those people who talked about one community and were so short-sighted that they didn’t realise it will have a reaction on the other side too… who made up those slogans?
AK: Is majority communalism a reaction to minority communalism?
AMK: Do not use the term minority. I have not used this word and I will not use it.
AK: Modi’s second term is going on as PM. What is the future of Muslims in India?
AMK: The question ‘what is the future of Muslims in India’… Whatever is the future of India is the future of people who live in India. That includes Muslims too.
AK: Their identity does not hold any significance?
AMK: What identity?
AK: This associated with their identity?
AMK: Should my identity be that I give triple talaq to my wife and throw her out of the house? Should my identity be that I don’t have resources to maintain one wife but I can go ahead and get three more wives? In any society, the professional clergy cannot survive till the people are not kept in the dark.
AK: People are raising concerns that India is moving from being a secular democracy to a Hindu Rashtra. Do you agree?
AMK: Did you ever oppose those countries which are Islamic?
AK: Talk from India’s perspective.
AMK: The world is a global village. And what do you understand by Hindu Rashtra?
AK: Where minorities, Muslims or Christians they will become second class citizens.
AMK: This concept is only in other religions. Hinduism does not have a concept of second-class citizens. No one becomes a ‘dhimmi’, no one is asked to pay ‘jaziya’.
AK: You deny ‘Hindu supremacy’?
AMK: The country’s smallest minority is Parsis. They also don’t have a single representative in the Parliament. They are not crying for representation. How many Christians in the country?
AK: But you are now forgetting history. How so many poor people…
AMK: How did they become so poor? Sir Syed said no one has made us poor. When the British started English medium education and a few years later 8,000 maulvis gathered and said that the English schools are a threat to Islam and opposed education of Muslim children in English medium schools. So who is responsible for keeping us poor?
AK: But this is even before 1947.
AMK: This attitude is still alive. I can show you discussion of Deoband which discouraged everyone from taking up modern education.
AK: The communalism, conservatism, fundamentalism you are talking about, I do not disagree. Muslim community also has it and other communities also have it. Only difference is that the clergies you mention do not have support of the government. Those who believe in Hindutva politics they have patronage of the party in power. You still say that Deoband is a bigger threat.
AMK: Your problem is that as a journalist you cannot put words in my mouth.
AK: One questions. What is a bigger threat? Deoband or Nagpur?
AMK: I can fight against my own selfishness, not against others’. Understand that if you could. You had written on Facebook that you will play Holi while saying Bismillah. Remember what was said about you? I remember. I had read all those comments. Where did this intolerance come from?
AK: I agree there is conservatism in either side.
AMK: But we will always attack the other side. But not look inward at our own flaws because it is easier to point at others.
AK: I have a problem that you are ignoring the conservatism and fundamentalism of the other side which has patronage of the government.
AMK: You must fight. I will say that this is a country where Sai Baba whose temples are across the country. Every devotee of Sai Baba knows he was born to Muslim parents. But because people have faith in Him, he is made an avatar and is worshipped. If you become helpful to the nation, you are put on a pedestal like a God.
After facing severe outrage over failure to compensate Hindu victims of hate crime, the Delhi government seems to have finally woken up as deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Thursday ran to the families of Ankit Saxena and Dhruv Tyagi, victims of two separate murders in West Delhi to handover compensation cheques.
According to reports, Deputy CM Sisodia, accompanied by AAP spokesperson Saurabh Bharadwaj and Madipur MLA Girish Soni, visited the two families on Thursday evening, months after their heinous killing to present cheques of Rs.15 Lakh to each family.
Reportedly, Sisodia has agreed to the wish of Yashpal Saxena, father of Ankit Saxena, who wanted the square where Ankit was killed by his girlfriend’s family, to be named after him.
Ankit Saxena, a Delhi-based photographer was brutally murdered in February last year by his Muslim girlfriend’s family who did not approve of the inter-religious love affair. Nearly 17 months after the killing, the Delhi government has finally agreed to pay compensation, especially after multiple outrages it faced over ignoring the plights of Saxena’s ailing and old parents, who had lost their sole breadwinner.
Recently, Yashpal Saxena, Ankit Saxena’s had expressed his disappointment at Delhi government for not keeping up the promises. Yashpal Saxena had said that they have not received any of the promised compensation from Delhi government.
Similarly, Dhruv Tyagi of Delhi’s Moti Nagar was stabbed to death in May by Jehangir Khan, his son Mohammad Alam and others. The 51-year old was hacked to death by the father-son duo as the victim went to Jehangir to complain about his son who had molested Tyagi’s daughter. The weapon with which Tyagi was murdered, a butcher’s knife, was provided by Jehangir Khan’s wife and daughter. Tyagi was not only murdered, but his body was mutilated, fingernails were ripped out and teeth were broken, all because he had confronted the persons who had molested his daughter.
The AAP government had faced severe criticism for ignoring the Hindu victims of hate crime and violence while going overboard in their Muslim appeasement when the victim of a crime is a Muslim. Yesterday, the Delhi Waqf Board under AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan had announced compensation and a job for the wife of Tabrez Ansari, who had died after beaten up by a group of villagers in Jharkhand over suspicion of theft.
Gangaram Singh Chauhan of Aliyabad village in Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad district was lynched at home for filing a written complaint at the local Dilari police station against his 13-year-old daughter’s abduction. Now new details about the case have emerged in a ground report done by Swati Goel Sharma of Swarajya.
According to the report, Chauhan’s daughter was kidnapped two months earlier also. It was only after the minor girl was kidnapped the second time allegedly by her 25-year old neighbour Mohammad Danish, Chauhan decided to approach the police. Earlier, fearing social shame, the family had brushed the crime under the carpet.
The first time Danish is believed to have taken the girl to Rajasthan, around 700 kilometers away from home. Her family had then sought the help of the neighbouring village (Peepli Umarpur) pradhan instead of the police. She was recovered within a few days. Chauhan’s son Deepak confirmed that his family was scared to approach the pradhan of their own village, Abdul Rehman as they feared he would side with the culprit’s family. He asserted they are one of the only two Hindu families living amongst 100-odd Muslim families in the village. Aliyabad is predominantly a Muslim dominated area with one-third of the total population being Muslims.
The minor girl, however, went missing again on the night of June 18 and this time around Chauhan approached the police against the suspect, Danish. The police, instead of acting on the complaint of the girl’s father displayed a lackluster attitude throughout the day. In the meanwhile, Danish’s family who learned about Chauhan’s complaint forcefully entered his home and lynched him to death.
Tragically, the 55-year-old Chauhan had to pay the price with his life for safeguarding his daughter.
The attackers said, “You live among us and yet you dare to stand against us?” claimed Savita, Chauhan’s wife who witnessed her husband’s painful death along with her 18-year-old son Deepak, and two younger children, aged ten and five.
She claimed that a total of six men and two women armed with lathis and butchers’ knife had barged into their home hurling abuses, and hit her on her head. Thereafter they punched Chauhan, who was resting on a cot, hard on his chest, lifted him and banged him on the floor several times. They left once he fell unconscious.
“It looked like he died on the spot,” she added.
Deepak recalls the attackers shouting, “Hamare beech mein reh rahe ho aur hamein hi moohzori dikha rahe ho? Hinduon, yahan se bhago [You live among us and yet dare to stand up against us? Leave our area, you Hindus].” He added the attackers, including Danish’s father Safayat Nabi, repeatedly threatened Chauhan about keeping his daughter in his house right in front of theirs and still not be able to do anything.
Savita claimed the attackers threatened that her children would meet a similar fate before leaving her house. She recalled that Danish’s mother Ameena sliced her own hand with a blade with an intention to file a police complaint against them for attacking her (and the mob). This fact was later corroborated by the daroga (police constable) at the Dilari police station.
Chauhan’s elder brother Harswaroop who lives with his family in the adjoining village of Peepli Umarpur, said he rushed to the spot as soon as he learned of the attack on his brother. He then took his brother to a local health centre where he was referred to Moradabad. However, Chauhan was declared brought dead by Cosmos hospital and the family did not have the post-mortem report at the time when the report was filed.
A first information report (FIR) was filed on the same night, in which six accused, Safayat Nabi, his three sons Mohsin, Chhotu and Danish, and their two cousins, Akram and Irrfan have been named.
The FIR mentions that six men barged into Chauhan’s house around 8 pm, and had a fight with Chauhan, who died of his injuries. It, however, has conveniently skipped mentioning the girl’s kidnapping and the revenge attack on her family for filing a written statement against the culprit.
While the police have added sections 302 (murder), 147 (rioting) and 452 (house-trespass) in the FIR, none of the women have been named. Also, no charge of religious hate has been applied. Deepak Kumar, the SHO of Dilari police station now stands suspended for lapses on various counts.
Amit Pathak, SSP of Moradabad district has listed a few points about Kumar’s suspension. One, the SHO failed to take the victim family’s complaint on the night the girl went missing and did not register an FIR even on the morning of 19 June. He did not pursue the matter to trace the girl through the day and despite the kidnapping being a “Hindu-Muslim issue,” failed to alert senior officials. He also did not deploy preventive police force in the area.
Pathak stated that a further probe is underway to determine whether Dilari police mishandled the kidnapping case two months ago.
All the six men named in the FIR have been arrested.
The girl was recovered on 21 June, two days after her father was lynched. She was found with another neighbour named Nadeem.
The girl’s cousin, Sandeep Thakur, said that when he met her on 22 June in a shelter home, she confessed to him that she had eloped with Nadeem, a cousin of Danish. He added, “She said it was Danish’s plan. But now after her father’s murder, she does not want to live with him anymore and wants the strictest punishment for him.”
Vijendra Singh Rathi, the daroga at Dilari thana, said that a case of kidnapping (section 363) and inducing a woman to compel her into marriage (section 366) was also later filed against four men, including Danish. He divulged the medical report of the girl was awaited.
Chauhan’s family have shifted to live with Harswaroop’s family for fear of their safety, and intend to sell off their Aliyabad house.
“We will not get any Hindu buyer now. We will have to sell it to a Muslim who will pay us a pittance, knowing our desperation very well,” said Harswaroop.
Brahm Singh, pradhan of Peepli, asserted Chauhan’s family was safe in their “Hindu” village where the “community” would help them.
Meanwhile, in Aliyabad none of the neighbours wanted to discuss a word about the lynching. Mohammad Ibrar, Chauhan’s adjoining neighbour excused himself for talking about the issue when Swati approached him and said, “he was not present in the house when it unfolded.” Others neither wanted to talk about it nor were willing to share their details including names.
Top Kerala police officers were involved in a honeytrap case along with Devaswom board minister Kadakampally Surendran, as per a report by Janmabhumi. The incident came to light when the women threatened to commit suicide in a Facebook post alleging that a police officer had raped her promising marriage.
The woman had claimed that no action has been taken against the officer despite approaching the Chief Minister’s office. Following this, the DGP intervened and got her to delete the post. Her statement was also recorded. She claimed that the SI had taken her to various hotels in Thiruvananthapuram and raped her on the pretext of marriage. A case was then filed against Thumba police station sub-inspector Sumesh Lal.
Investigations have revealed that through Facebook the woman had befriended several other police officers as well. Her account was set up in the name of a woman official at Kerala University. However, the police have found this to be a fake identity. The police have also sought to examine her phone call records.
