Kejriwal govt wakes up after outrage, gives compensation to families of Dhruv Tyagi and Ankit Saxena

Dhruv Tyagi was brutally murdered for attempting to confront his daughter's molesters. AAP government had promptly announced compensation and job for the wife of a murdered man in Jharkhand while ignoring the Hindu victims of hate crime in Delhi.

After facing severe outrage over failure to compensate Hindu victims of hate crime, the Delhi government seems to have finally woken up as deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Thursday ran to the families of Ankit Saxena and Dhruv Tyagi, victims of two separate murders in West Delhi to handover compensation cheques.

According to reports, Deputy CM Sisodia, accompanied by AAP spokesperson Saurabh Bharadwaj and Madipur MLA Girish Soni, visited the two families on Thursday evening, months after their heinous killing to present cheques of Rs.15 Lakh to each family.

Reportedly, Sisodia has agreed to the wish of Yashpal Saxena, father of Ankit Saxena, who wanted the square where Ankit was killed by his girlfriend’s family, to be named after him.

Ankit Saxena, a Delhi-based photographer was brutally murdered in February last year by his Muslim girlfriend’s family who did not approve of the inter-religious love affair. Nearly 17 months after the killing, the Delhi government has finally agreed to pay compensation, especially after multiple outrages it faced over ignoring the plights of Saxena’s ailing and old parents, who had lost their sole breadwinner.

Recently, Yashpal Saxena, Ankit Saxena’s had expressed his disappointment at Delhi government for not keeping up the promises. Yashpal Saxena had said that they have not received any of the promised compensation from Delhi government.

Similarly, Dhruv Tyagi of Delhi’s Moti Nagar was stabbed to death in May by Jehangir Khan, his son Mohammad Alam and others. The 51-year old was hacked to death by the father-son duo as the victim went to Jehangir to complain about his son who had molested Tyagi’s daughter. The weapon with which Tyagi was murdered, a butcher’s knife, was provided by Jehangir Khan’s wife and daughter. Tyagi was not only murdered, but his body was mutilated, fingernails were ripped out and teeth were broken, all because he had confronted the persons who had molested his daughter.

The AAP government had faced severe criticism for ignoring the Hindu victims of hate crime and violence while going overboard in their Muslim appeasement when the victim of a crime is a Muslim. Yesterday, the Delhi Waqf Board under AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan had announced compensation and a job for the wife of Tabrez Ansari, who had died after beaten up by a group of villagers in Jharkhand over suspicion of theft.
